Review from Ms. B.

*This review is for a 2x week office cleaning.
The fact that they use green cleaning products is great, but the rest of the package leaves lots to be desired.
The minimum 2 hour cleaning is a scam. Other than the very first time they cleaned, they have never cleaned for 2 hours, let alone cleaned to the caliber of what a 2 hour clean should look like. In short, the service was sub-par for the high price we paid. Each person I've dealt with though, from the office to our actual cleaning staff were extremely nice and very professional, unfortunately that doesn't change the quality of cleaning. All and all, I would not recommend them. -

Zero stars. Over-priced, unreliable, unprofessional. I am just finding out that they were previously Miracle Maids and got closed down due to ripping off customers and horrendous customer service. Will never utilize this service again. Beware of Google reviews. They do write up their own reviews to scam more customers out of over $40 per hour on cleaning.
The maid insisted on having a continuous conversation with me after I made it very clear to her that I was not feeling well and needed my rest. Underneath my bed was still cluttered and dusty and the floors were still not cleaned well (what which we didn't notice until after she left) She even took the time out to tell me to "give my son a break" after scolding him for leaving his toys on the floor while she was trying to clean. -

This thing is laughable. Manager or whoever writes and calls claiming he has pictures and everything I'm saying is false, bla bla bla. I call him out on the photos saying to send them along and what do you know, nothing! Puhleeeze. Green cleaning and they don't bring their own cleaners???

Just had a fabulous cleaning done from Great Green! I have dealt with several maid services in the past and have always been slighly disappointed with the results, but I must say I could not have done a better job if I tried myself. That is, if I would get my lazy butt up and actually clean myself.
My cleaning girls kindly introduced themselves to me when they arrived with a smile on their face and I instantly felt at ease to have 2 strangers in my apt (so much so that I actually left my apt for a bit to run some errands).
The ladies were very thorough with their cleaning and were even playing with my cat :) (Yes, I have a cat, but I swear I'm not a crazy cat lady)
I must also give kudos to their customer service team. They were very sweet to me when I called to make my appointment and took the time to explain what my cleaning would cover. They even called me after my cleaning to make sure everything was up to my standards.
Overall, a wonderful experience! -

The service was alright, I was a little disappointed though. I had a move in cleaning performed, which means that I moved into a new apartment and was living in someone else's dirt. I asked for a very thorough cleaning and got one that I could've done myself, which defeats the point of paying someone to clean for me. Nook and cranny kinda stuff was left unlcleaned and a couple of other spots were missed, maybe on accident.
The cleaner Nef was very nice and pleasant to work with, but I am not sure why some things were left uncleaned.
The company offers to re-clean anything that doesn't meet your expectations at the end of the cleaning, but there are lots of things you don't really notice are dirty until you start to really look, and by then you have paid and okay'd and the cleaner has left.
Overall, I would say the experience was average. I wouldn't want to use a cleaning service that you feel like you have to watch over every move, it defeats the point of the convenience.Comment from David S. of Great Green Cleaning and Maid Service 10/8/2010

I've used this service twice because I purchased groupon/living social vouchers. The 1st time was horrendous- the girl they sent over was a nightmare. 1st off, she arrived an hour late. Then she started in the bathroom where she closed and locked the door. After hearing the water run for 20 minutes I knocked on the door and told her she didn't have to keep it closed. Was she sitting on the toilet texting the whole time? She certainly wasn't cleaning. There was a strong smell of bleach (is that considered "green" cleaning?) and the side of the tub where the shower curtain fell was still dirty. Too heavy to move it aside to clean? Later I discovered she used bleach in the tub which ruined the enamel. She broke a refrigerator magnet and never told us about it. Her cleaning skills were terrible. The apartment was actually more dirty after her being there. I couldn't wait for her to leave so I could go back and re-clean everything.
The 2nd time, the phone rep pressured us so much to purchase extra cleaning time so we did. We added 3 additional hours for the inside of the fridge, oven and the windows. The girl they sent did a half ass job. Then told us she was finished after the standard 4 hour cleaning. We asked if the office told her about the additional hours and she said yes they did but she was finished. Since she did a sucky job, I figured it would be fine to let her leave and save us from paying for the additional time. Needless to say, I will never use this company again. -

So I purchased a Groupon for this company and I was so excited! I call to make an appt for this Saturday. I went throught the long questionaire that they require and the rep decided I needed 8 hrs to clean my 1 bedroom apartment! I was thinking no way! So I explained that my groupon is for 4 hrs and I wanted to stick to that. Well things changed! All of a sudden, I am told they have a special group that caters to the groupon clients only and they are booked up until March 27! Before I mentioned my groupon they had plenty of people available! That information should have been presented in the fine print. So I am disappointed and now looking for a cleaning service for tomorrow. Thanks for nothing Great Green Cleaning!

I had a living social coupon. When I tried to book it and mentioned I'd had my kitchen redone over the summer they said they wouldn't honor it. There was nothing on the living social coupon that said you could have no dust, anywhere in the apartment. (I have, in the past, actually used cleaning people to have dusting done as part of the cleaning.) I've had the place cleaned since I had the kitchen redone, but they refused to honor their offer.

Just had my (filthy) apartment cleaned by the lovely Sandra and another lady whose name I did not catch. I couldn't be happier with the areas Sandra cleaned. However, I had to ask the second lady to re-do some areas of the bathroom. Which she did without complaint and to my satisfaction. I'm considering becoming a "key" client but would only like Sandra to clean the apartment as I feel I would have to check up on anyone else.
The customer service was top notch. I spoke with friendly people each time I called. On a first visit they require payment by cash or card. Card users are charged a $10 bookkeeping fee. Unfortunately I reserved with my debit card. My bank treated the card authorization as a "pending charge" which resulted in my having insufficient funds to pay by cash. Great Green was totally understanding and waived the bookkeeping fee when I explained the situation.
Although the customer service was fantastic and Sandra was dream I cannot give five stars. Both ladies were thirty minutes late. Although I was not charged for the time, and they called to let me know about the delay, it did cause my husband to be late to work as he waited to give them access to the apartment. I wouldn't recommend booking a first time appointment on a day you're on a tight schedule.
Edit of 9/14/10
After a closer look at the bathroom it appears not to have been well cleaned. I thought for $40/hr I would be safe only checking the hard to reach places, e.g. under the toilet rim and under the sink basin. But it appears the tile walls and the outside of the tub were not cleaned. I was able to remove the remaining mildew off the grout with a little bit of elbow grease so I can only guess that none was applied. If these were the only problems I would not update the review. I understand their guarantee is to re-do the work if not satisfied and its on me that I did not inspect the bathroom with a white glove. I signed off on the service before the cleaners left and accept responsibility for it. Then I found my package of toilet paper completely ruined, sitting in a puddle of water next to the toilet. I can not recommend paying $40/hr for this level of carelessness. I've downgraded my initial review from 4 stars to 2. -

I used this service regularly over probably a 6-month period.
I have to agree about the representatives putting some pressure on clients about the time and amount of service you need. Also the specificify some of the reps need for your initial cleaning; they collect a lot, probably too much information - and the instructions are not really followed by the cleaning people. Cleaning an apartment, while sometimes complicated, is really straight forward if you are "professional".
My first cleaning they sent two people. They were friendly, and did a decent job but one broke the glass shelf in my medicine cabinet.
The reps criticized me for no relinquishing a key so that maids can come and go when I'm not home, given my busy schedule; but again you pay so much for a service and they promise so much. I wanted someone to start before I left for work so that I can have some faace time with her and instruct her with what I really needed done in the cleaning (at 7am during the week). I ended up requesting "maria" for my cleanings. She was very nice and did a good job, overall. Even though they encouraged a relationship with the person who cleans, they are strongly opposed to you communicating with them directly (I guess they are afraid they will lose your business - even though you sign a contract addressing this). This was a big issue, especially if the person is running late - its just a hassle. Its also frustrating that they expect you to trust them with your keys and your belongings, but they do not trust you.
The website says 24-hours, but its not really. Don't expect someone to answer the phone early in the morning.
You pay a lot, but the service is really just average. The convenience of paying by credit card plus not having the time to keep trying new people is I guess what kept me. Unfortunately, the time limit works for and against you.
The cancellation policy is frustrating if you are very busy and your schedule changes a lot - they changed it the policy with no notification during the time I used the service. Especially since they are allowed to cancel on you at anytime with no repercussion; but if you cancel, you lose money. -

I just left Great Green Cleaning after about four years as a regular client (cleanings every other week). Here are the pros and cons from my perspective.
Pros:
-When they do a great job, they do a really great job - every corner clean, every bit of clutter organized.
Cons:
-The quality of the cleaning really varies with the cleaner. We had numerous cleaners over the years and on a scale of one to five they varied from two to five.
-They are pretty pricey, with a four-hour minimum at about $40/hour. We do not have a large apartment and it really doesn't require four hours (one of the cleaners even told me so). Their prices jumped when they went to "green products" - but I didn't feel their green products got the place very clean, so I still provided my own anyway.
-Customer service: This is what finally ended the relationship. Over the years there had been a few issues that they handled pretty well. When we had just had a room professionally painted and a cleaner sprayed bleach on the wall, they paid to have it repainted. When a cleaner rammed a new coffee table so hard with the vacuum that the finish cracked, they gave me the runaround for a while (multiple phone calls on my end) but eventually called the furniture company for me and facilitated an exchange. (Of course, both of those issues were the result of problems with the cleaners!) The end for me was when we had finally found a cleaner we really liked - Myra. One day I came home and saw that Myra had definitely not been our cleaner - mirrors weren't cleaned, floor didn't look clean, clutter (very minimal) left were it was, cleaner's lunch leftovers in the fridge for me to throw out, etc. I called and asked who my cleaner was that day and sure enough, it was someone else. I asked them to please confirm that I would have Myra for my next cleaning and they said OK. When I called back the night before my next cleaning to make sure, they told me no, they were sending someone else, that Myra was very busy and we wouldn't be able to have her anymore. They suggested we try someone new but I was so fed up with the uneven quality, and the fact that apparently my business was not important enough for one of their good cleaners, that I canceled my regular cleanings. I've just started with a new service so I'll post a review soon if that goes well. -

I just tried out this companies services for the first time today and I am sadly disappointed.
I was surprised at the level of detail that the salesperson went to when helping me plan for my cleaning engagement. While she was charming and I enjoyed speaking with her for what ended up being roughly 35 minutes (two phone calls) It seems that anything explicitly not mentioned as 'to be cleaned' even what I would think are obvious things easily fall by the wayside with their staff not always possessing the best common cleaning sense.
The staff was punctual, polite, careful and honest : I do think however combining cleaning with organizing is not a good investment. I would have preferred that I was called or emailed and told that they needed two more hours to properly clean if that was their assessment rather than leave the house with so many dirty and dusty things/places.
The two women arrived early which was great and they were polite and attentive. I pre-tipped them 40.00 each in the hopes of inspiring them as they were about to execute 5 hours each of cleaning/organizing for me and I wanted the best effort from them possible.
I showed them around the two bedroom 1 bath apartment I live in and explained that #1 priority was to clean "if you see dirt, clean it", I said. They nodded and smiled. We then talked about the organizing of the toys, games, papers, art supplies, small tools and memorabilia that had to be done to several cabinets in my apartment and I showed them the containers I had purchased and all the cleaning supplies that were for their use.
I left for work and came home 9 hours later: well after they had departed.
When I returned I found that while they did devote time to organizing, the cleaning aspect of their effort was really poor.
Some Game Boxes and some toys were put in my cabinets with thick layers of dust on them and in general it appeared that as they organized they did not think to wipe down the items they were putting away or look for dirt /dust already in the cabinets: which means I have to go through and reorganize and wipe everything to be sure I am not storing dirt/dust.
There was several small in size but noticeable greasy muck trails on the outside of the fridge door indicating it had not been wiped with any cleaner or scrubbing.
The sink in the kitchen had not been wiped down and the cabinets across from the sink had small purple splash remnants showing that they hadn't seen the wipe of a paper towel or sponge.
A dirty, hair covered sponge was left on the side of the bathtub when I had just purchased several new sponges which could have been used and put away or thrown away instead.
Windowsills held items that had not been cleared of hair and dust and grime was left in several of the corners of the windowsills and the edges of the floor of the bathroom.
Two of the three kitchen counters were left nearly or completely non-wiped as when I wiped them with my hand: dust, tiny 'artsy' sparkles, and small bits of dirt was my reward. These counters do a good job due to their speckled coloring of hiding dirt, but I expected they would have been wiped down with a damp cloth or paper towel.
My leather couch is dirty in many places and in one place in particular there is a blob of grunge that was probably a bit of candy or spilled sauce of some kind. It appears that no attempt was made to clean the couch at all.
From the look of much of the apartment, the ladies had not looked for dirt and so had not cleaned it.
They did place the pillows strategically and make the beds so that they were tidy and appealing to the eye, but they left one 4 inch toy foam dart in a crease of the couch showing they had not looked carefully for dirt or even larger objects.
As I was not present, I suppose I could be expecting too much but I honestly feel two people working for 5 hours each should have been able to do better in my roughly 900 square foot apartment.
This was an expensive mistake on my part - 400.00 for 10 hours plus 80 dollars tip to end up with a house that looks like it received some good reorganizing among several cabinets (aside from the lack of wiping down the items put away for dust) but only a cursory cleaning. -

I purchased a voucher for 4 hours of green cleaning through Living Social at a discounted rate. I called to schedule my appointment and was promptly transferred to a telemarketer type guy who seemed like he was working on commission. He tried pressure me into buying more time. I explained to him that my apartment was tiny (under 500 Square feet) and that all I wanted was a gentle wipe down of the inside and outside surfaces. There was no heavy cleaning involved as all the appliances were new and I haven't even eaten in the apartment. When he saw I would not add any more time he proceeded to make a list of every little thing I wanted done. For example I couldn't just say bathroom vanity, I had to say outside vanity doors, inside vanity cabinet, counter on top of the vanity around sink, inside the sink, etc.. He said he was making the list so that we both knew exactly what was going to be done. Then after I made the list he said he couldn't agree to having the work done in 4 hours because according to his estimate I needed more time. When I said let the cleaning person could come and if she didn't finish it in 4 hours she could just leave without finishing (knowing that there was no way the cleaner wouldn't finish in 4 hours, I had the apartment cleaned before in 2 and 1/2) the guy said it seemed like the service wasn't for me and that I should call Living Social to get a refund.
I see that many people gave this company a good review, which means perhaps they're cleaning in ok. The question is how much have they overpaid for the service? There are many good cleaning services out there for a fair price. Perhaps they are just conning the Living Soical clients because we paid $85 for 4 hours as a speical deal and this company offered the special with the intention of forcing every person who takes up this deal to buy more time. I don't know what happened, but I felt completely scammed.
If you do call this company, especially if you are using the Living Social deal, do not let them manipulate you into paying more money for more time if you know you don't need it. If they start pressuring you, just get a refund from Living Social. -

Nai, my husband and I experienced a very similar experience to what you did. I stick with my previous review; people need to reconsider before hiring this company; ironically everyone needs 8 hours or more of service; so many titles at one company and everyone has a unique title and the cleaning people are, of course, SPECIALISTS!! Why of course. In addition to everything else, THEY ARE OVERPRICED.

Ok, where should I start? I bought this service through living social for a reasonable price. I am a working mom/wife who wanted a little extra help around the house. I booked the services for my day off so I was there while the maid was cleaning. All I can say is that I could have done a better job myself cleaning with one hand and holding my toddler on the other arm. She was a very nice lady. I tipped her on the full price of the service and everything, but according to the person I spoke to on the phone my home was going to be spot less and I was assured that spots that are usually missed would be cleaned perfectley. She did not even lift up a small rug I had in my childs room to sweep under! Behind my TV stand she left all the dust bunnies, and my bathroom did not look at all special like they promised. I went over all that should have been cleaned on the phone, but nothing was cleaned how I expected it to be. Mind you my apartment is tiny. On the phone they promised the maid would bring all the "green" cleaning supplies; she used up my lysol wipes and my fabuloso cleaner, what's so green about that? The maid had more than enough time to do an excellent job. Maybe if she spent less time on her cellphone she would have. She even left early! At that point I just wanted her to leave my house so that I can finish up what she didn't do. I would not reccomend them at all. VERY DISAPOINTED. And I'm not one to leave such negative comments.

I tried to book this service to clean my apartment. I entered my information into their website and the website returned an error and asked me to call their offices. I called their offices and the receptionist told me their client care was busy and would call me back that day. They did not call me back and I called them again. This time, she transferred me to a non-working number and disconnected me. I called them back again and finally talked to a client care representative. They quoted me $174.00 for a one time cleaning on a 1bedroom/1bathroom apartment (830 square feet) which is very clean, no pets - just general maintenance cleaning. This is the highest I have ever been quoted for a regular bi-weekly cleaning. Their argument was that they would clean whatever I thought was not cleaned at the end of the cleaning but every maid service does this so it's not really a bonus. I really feel that this is a service that overcharges tremendously (probably twice what other services charge) and they cannot even return a phone call correctly. Please think very carefully before booking this poorly run and expensive service.
