I'm no gearhead, folks...you're not going to see me spitting out reviews of Car Toys or NAPA Auto Parts stores anytime soon. So when Freja (my '91 Buick LeSabre, a tattered beauty from the Viking Age) needs a tune-up, I rely on somebody else to get the job done quickly and efficiently. For the past two years, I've entrusted the girl to this nearby Grease Money, and they've never let me down. I'm pretty sure the big lug that runs the place has a crush on me, the way he's always smiling through yellowed teeth and giving me '$2 Off Your Next Oil Change!' coupons. Unless...he does that to every pretty face that comes in the joint.
Whatever the case, the service and timeliness has always done right by me, which keeps me coming back. After dropping her off for her quarterly oil change, I usually have enough time to walk to my favorite 7-11 a few blocks away, grab a Slurpee, and come back (i.e. the PERFECT amount of time), only to find Freja awaiting me for her next voyage. Nicest bonus: the guys make sure and let me know what kind of fixins the girl needs, but WITHOUT pushing the upsell on me. In this economy, that sort of attitude is enough to warrant four stars.
As the name on the sign implies, they're no posh establishment, and if you have to stop in on the weekend, parking's limited (take your limousine repairs elsewhere, mack), but otherwise, I can think of no blemishes to speak of. Those of you who park your brakes in the Highlands or Edgewater, take heed: for fast, reliable service, this is the only pit stop I bother to make.
