Grants Farm is a great zoo. unlike other zoos, the animals don't jump the fence and go on a killing spree inside.
It has everything a zoo needs... beer, animals and bathroom. Very good zoo/fair snacks: funnel cakes, hot dogs, burgers.
It's a great spot for kids and adults.

Really nice to see how AB gives back with this farm.  The legendary Clydesdales are reason enough to come here.  It was very crowded as it is great for kids and families.  The line will stretch into the parking lot so be patient. You will then board the tram which takes you through the park.  This was the wild kingdom type of zoo.  Then you walk around and check out, pet or feed the farm animals.  Really cool beer garden where you get two for free.  Alas it was AB, so don't get too excited.

As a family, we totally loved this place! I'd go back if the weather wasn't a sweltering 110 degree heat indexed. Yikes! Maybe once the weather cools off a little bit, and if we ever come to this area again, I'd gladly head back.

The parking was $10 and everything else was free, except food and the $1/bottle for giving milk to really aggressive little goats. (I will upload photographic proof later.)

The tram is informative and does touch upon the history of the farm and Grant's cabin. The animals are neat to see and the tram is a comfortable ride.

We loved seeing the Clydesdales (they are TALL!) and the grounds where they are kept. Heck, even the gift shop wasn't super-pricey, and that's a rarity!

We would definitely go back and would love to do the VIP tour next time. What a fun place for everyone. Mom and dad can have some free brew, kids get to feed goat kids, and everyone goes home happy.

Grant's Farm is one of the many landmark St. Louis institutions that I somehow put off visiting in the four years I've lived here until this year.  I've been missing out!  It's a very pleasant place to spend an afternoon, and I'm sure it's even better if you have kids.  Parking is $10 per car, but admission is free, AND once inside, you get two free A-B beers or malt beverages or whatever else they have in their extremely pleasant beer garden, which is a fairly accurate representation of some I've seen in Germany.

Animals and tram rides!  Goat feeding!  Oh man, the goat feeding.  Talk about exhilarating.  For $1, you can buy a bottle of milk to feed a baby goat.  CUTE OVERLOAD.  They'll nibble on your pants, but that's more an honor than an annoyance.

The staff comprises retired older gentlemen almost exclusively.  All are friendly.  My friend and I concluded that Grant's Farm is where all the pleasantest grandpas go to grow old.

When i was younger, we would so wait to do our annual outing here because we were kids, and therefor INSANE! Mainly because of the goats and going on the tram around the park (Course when i was younger it was all turned around as it is now.). I loved this place as a child, and now as an adult i see it through different eyes and still love, love, love this place. Truly this is one of the better attractions in st.louis, but more then that it's interesting to see how many animals they do have there at one time.

I would suggest to anyone out there.. Go during Halloween and Christmas. I was awed that what they do during christmas, even if it's cold, the lights are so serene and beautiful!

Grant's Farm Zoo Tour Family Beer-Garden rthing....

Grant's Farm is so much to so many. Part Zoo, part Historic Site, part Tourist Trap, part Stables (Bud Clydesdales), part Beer Hall.

I liked the Beer Garden feel at the Bauernhof. On a sunny day mid-week, you might find it quiet enough to be an quasi-European refuge. Seeing the long horn steers up close was great for the children.

Feeding the goats was a tad nightmarish. Way too many agro-billy-goats for any young child to handle. It went hand in hand with the horrible "It's not my problem" service I observed without much exception. Too bad, it could have been so much better if the staff was in a better mood...

Ahh!
Did you know that for around $10 (parking) YOU and your ENTIRE group will have the following:

- animal watching tram ride through the grounds
- two free drinks
- baby goat nightmares?

Really?!? Where else in the US can a group of 4 people park their car, not pay a fee, (to enter 'zoo-like attraction') AND consume 8 drinks total for under 10 BUCKS?!?

A local brewery in zoo's clothing?

Brilliant.

Rambunctious goats chasing screaming children armed with bottles of goat food as their drunken parents laugh their asses off?

Priceless.

Grant's Farm, named after Ulysses S. Grant who met his wife, Julia Dent Grant whose family actually owned the farm, but he ultimately failed miserably at everything and went to work for his father and brother in Galena, Illinois.

American history lesson aside, the Grant farm is still here, though it is no longer an actual farm but more like a zoo. The neat thing about Grant's Farm is that like all the other attractions and zoos or rather, the zoo, it is free also. When you go to Grant's Farm you can take a nice little tram ride through different areas that are home to different wild animals. You have black buck antelopes, bison, red deer, zebras, and the belted galloway among other animals. Grant's Farm is also home to the world famous Budweiser Clydesdale.

Grant's Farm is a great place to go and spend an afternoon. For those who stop by and visit, you have the luxury of being able to sample free Anheuser-Busch products, an enjoyable afternoon for anyone.

This is a place that holds many wonderful childhood memories for me. I think that feeding the goats is a childhood rite of passage for any kid raised in the St. Louis area. It really is a magical place for kids, and a great place to spend a day.

And for the adults, there is the beer garden! You are given two free full-sized samples...sometimes a well-earned award after spending the day outside with the kids!

I highly recommend coming here during the Christmas season. My family, though without any little kids, came here one weekend in December. Yes, we nearly freezed out butts off. But there were a ton of lights, a lot of activities and performances. They were geared for families with younger ones, but it really did bring out a childlike Christmas spirit in all of us. In the beer garden, they did an awesome reenactment of the Nutcracker, which was fabulous, and they gave out food and beer.

The only thing that stinks is their now-reduced hours. This year, they moved back to weekends only much earlier than they usually do. I don't know what that is going to mean for next summer.

I have two small children, so for us this is far better then the actual zoo. Just because its the right size. by the time we leave my kids are tired. you can feed the goats which they love! you ride the train for free. you can also feed the camels. its a free park, although you do have to pay for parking which is $11.00 per car. My favorite zoo.

We saw more species of animals here than in the SF Zoo. Walk from the main parking lot (where the Busch Clydesdales are) to the tram house - your first gift shop opportunity is right there.

Then onto the Jurassic Park tour - as the announcer jokingly stated. All kinds of rare breeds and not-so-rare to drive past. Big healthy grounds that are beautifully wild yet maintained...The fact that so many of the animals are reproducing suggests a healthy and happy environment for the animals.

You're dropped off at the main center starting with a petting zoo of pygmy goats. Bottles of goat formula for $1 each. Feed llamas, look at camels and monkeys (new baby!), guinea pigs and other little animals.

Also on the property... a tiny gift shop, a fastfood area to get bratwurst and the likes, Budweiser tasting bar with a 2-sample limit, a stable of horses - say hello to Boomer the donkey that wants to be a Clydesdale. Mini-musem with the family's horsing history.

Make sure to see the Clydesdales before leaving the parking lot. They're even bigger than you realize.

I don't care for beer but everyone else over 21 appreciates the two free ones you get for coming here.  My favorite animals to see are the parrots, the tortoises, and the goats.  It's only $1 to feed the goats a bottle of milk, but they can get mighty feisty so I'd recommend keeping an eye on your little ones.  The less brave can groom them over the fence with the brushes they provide.

I've noticed they've expanded the menu at the beer garden quite a bit.  In addition to nachos, burgers, and fries, they now sell pizza, ice-cream, and other goodies.

I love this place.  I only wish that they would allow visitors inside Grant's cabin.  Great place for kids.  I wouldn't eat here though.  The food prices are a bit expensive.  After eating here, my tummy felt a bit icky.  The funnel cake wasn't fresh.  The hot dogs were too salty!  The variety of animals was very sufficient.  The Clydesdales were awesome!  Besides the food, the other thing that ticks me off is people smoking inside the park.  There's animals around!  There was a exhibit that was supposed to have a green iguana in it, but instead there's an opossum in it!

All around great fun for the whole family.   Any age will enjoy this zoo of a different colour.
Admission, tram rides, and shows are all free... just pay $8 per car for parking.
Entering the park you wait for a tram that takes you on a lovely trip through acres of free roaming animals.   Next stop is the tier garden, tons of animals to view, snacks and different food to eat, baby goats to feed, camels too.   Animal shows at certain times are neat too.

Don't forget Grant's Farm is owned by Bush, so tons of beer tasting in the beer garden.

In leaving don't forget to go to the clydesdale stables, you might catch a glimpse of some new colts too.

Overall wonderful place to spend the whole day.

This is a family destination.  By that, I mean that there is fun to be had no matter your age, and all of it is innocent fun.  What's even better is the fact that this place is a cheap spot to spend the day.  You pay for parking and then you are IN.  Go have as much fun as you want: pet the animals, go on the tour, try some beer, walk around to your heart's content.  The architecture is very pretty, the grounds are pretty and the animals are pretty.  Even when the temperature soars, people are still generally in a great mood here - which to me is a testament that it's a fun place to check out.

I love grants farm.  We would go every year and it misses so much not hearing the whole story about the shot guns and how the fence is made from them but no matter to the kids... it's all about feeding the goats!
