It only takes one terrible dental experience to create a vicious cycle. For me, this happened several years ago, when the woman was anything but gentle and scolded me the entire session for my "terrible" habits (which is just a lie, thankyouverymuch). I've never cried in a dentist's chair before, but I did that day because she decided not to be remotely gentle. So I hadn't been back since, mostly out of anxiety that the same scenario would repeat with any dentist.

I can happily say that Dr. Sims completely changed my outlook. Part of a filling fell out a few weeks ago, and I was concerned for the my gums in the front of my mouth, so I knew it was time to suck it up and go. Yelp clearly crowned him the winner for my neighborhood, so I made an appointment, and it was flawless from start to finish. All of the front desk staff are funny and sweet, and set the tone for a good visit. Amanda, the hygienist, is my hero. My suspicions about my gums were correct, and she told me that I'd need scaling and root planing, which she described thoroughly. I then met Dr. Sims, and he scoped out my filling, which he'd fill at the end of my procedure. Typically I'd be a nervous wreck, but after talking to them I felt completely at ease and fully prepared.

The procedure was divided into two parts over a three-week period, because so much numbing was involved (and it would just be cruel to do it all at once). Amanda constantly checked in with me to make sure that I wasn't in pain, and if I was, she'd stop and numb me a little more. Dr. Sims did the same with my filling, taking me step-by-step through his process and making sure I was comfortable. I have to return in a month to see how my gums have progressed, which will determine how often I should come in for cleanings, but I'm already seeing results. My gums look healthier and don't bleed when I brush or floss. Success!

I've never had a more pleasant experience at the dentist, and because of this, I will absolutely continue as Dr. Sims' patient.

I'll start by saying that if I could base my review on the friendliness of the office staff and competence of the hygienist, this practice would get 5 stars.

My dentist of 32 years retired and I don't want to keep driving out to the suburbs for his replacement.  So, I found Dr. Sims on Yelp as the highest rated dentist in my neighborhood.  I was looking for a dentist that I could be in a relationship with for the next 32 years.  One who I could trust to be in partnership with me for the sake of my oral health.

Unfortunately, Dr. Sims fell short of the mark.  The biggest reason that I will not go back to him is that he recommended a procedure after the initial consultation for a problem that I did not have .  This should always be a red flag for a new practitioner, or car mechanic for that matter.  So, I went to my periodontist  -who had already looked at that tooth in question once- to see if his original diagnosis, to wait until it became a problem, had changed.

He confirmed my instinct that the laser therapy that Dr. Sims had prescribed was a "hustle" and that I should find a new dentist.  He explained that the laser therapy had a few miracle cases but that it didn't work most of the time, especially on "hopeless" cases, like mine.  He said the dentists that bought the expensive equipment based on the case studies the salesperson gave them then had to pay it off by prescribing it liberally.

If Dr. Sims had explained this to me, even if he phrased less harshly, and gave me reasons for why he thought I was a good candidate, I would have felt like he respected my intelligence enough to involve me in my own health choices.  As it was, when I asked for the full name of the treatment (so I could research it), I felt like he was dismissive of my question as he answered it.  This, after not introducing himself before sticking his hands into my mouth was enough to make me ask my awesome periodontist for a different recommendation.

Since I don't want to spend the next three decades second guessing my dentist's recommendations, I am now seeing Dr. Azim and am very happy.

This was the best dental experience of my life.  And I am terrified of the dentist after very bad past experiences.

Dr. Sims was incredibly patient with me, giving me five injections of anesthetic to make sure I was comfortable.  He also covered me with a blanket, so I was warm and swaddled.  The drilling and filling took about 2 hours, and I felt at ease the whole time.  I joined the Smile program so I got 20% off of all the fillings, saving my poor grad student butt a couple hundred dollars.

    Highly recommended!

This guy makes me want to get my teeth drilled. Walks you through everything on the monitor with updated technology, explains what's happening, text reminders for appointments, friendly staff, I could go on.

It's a little hard to find because it's on the second floor, so just look for the door 10 yards north of the corner of the street.

I'm not a fan of the dentist and considering that I had not gone in 4 years I was worried about how much pain I was going to endure! My wife booked my appointment with Dr. Sims and she told me that I was good hands. I trust my wife, so I agreed to have the my teeth looked at and cleaned. From the moment I stepped into the door till the time I left I had a blast! Who knew the dentist could be so much fun. His staff is great and Dr. Sims is an awesome dentist! I felt very educated by the time I left. I am excited to have my teeth cleaned in six months.

I am a big, BIG baby about the dentist.  I have a lot of problems with teeth sensitivity during visits and I have terrible teeth (thanks DNA, blah!!)

When the ONLY dentist who I ever liked retired 6 years ago, I was almost in tears.  It took me 30 years to find THAT guy, where would I find another dentist as gentle with a great chair side manner?

Well, I did.  Dr. Sims is a wonderful dentist.  His dental staff is confident,  friendly and efficient.  They don't mind that I bring the noise canceling headphones and music to avoid hearing the drill.  They know that I need extra numbing.   They are very proactive and helpful in scheduling appointments around my wonky schedule.  If you like, they will send email or text reminders to you for appointments (which is super helpful when you are absent minded!)

Added bonus, I am a complete technology geek.  And Dr Sims has the latest and greatest tech.  He is able to show you videos and pics of your teeth and gums REAL TIME while you are still in the chair with a special "tooth cam".  No more trying to guess what my molars look like!  Seeing how ignoring the cracked crown affected my gums was enough to send me scrambling for my floss.  It is really quite cool to have that level of information and collaboration with your dentist.  I've been 3 times already in a year to straighten out the problems of my teeth grinding and long absence from the dental chair.  It's a pleasure to go, so I don't mind it at all!

After all these positive reviews, I was expecting to be happy here. I guess that was NOT in the cards. In fact, I have never been so disrespected by a medical professional before!

I will preface by saying, this review has to do more with his office staff and business practices rather than his dentistry. However, that is a very important aspect of being a patient, so I feel like I should say something.

    I had to deal with:

    1) mistakes with scheduling (ex: they scheduled me to see Dr. Reese for a service that only Dr. Sims can provide - thanks for that!)

    2) mistakes with insurance (ex: they claimed they had called my insurance and found out something was covered, only to tell me that of course it wasn't covered when it came time to pay the co-pay - could not provide me any useful information documenting the original phone call with insurance so that I could deal with the ins co directly)

    3) continually made mistakes with how much they were charging my credit card, causing a credit block on my account because it looked like fraudulent charges

    4) after I complained to the Dr, letting him know that his office staff was making him look bad, I was asked to come in for a follow-up, and here's where it gets great...

    5) I let them know that the timing is no great because I am leaving town the next day to go to my mom's deathbed, so I'd rather not do this right now. They say, let's have you come in today then so you can get it done before you leave. I come, wait, the Dr comes to get me only to hand me a letter that says that my expectations seem to be too high and despite the fact that I have paid all his bills promptly, they will no longer keep me on as a patient.

SERIOUSLY! Because I expected a competent office staff?! You make me come in to get FIRED by my dentist while I am dealing with the passing of my mother?! Needless to say I will not be returning, and after that experience CANNOT recommend this office (again this has nothing to do with the dentist's skills as a dentist) to ANYONE!

First of all, I have to admit I've always hated dentists.  It's an irrational hatred - I was never traumatized by a dentist.  I have a lackluster dental history, involving a handful of cavities and wisdom teeth removal.  Routine stuff.  I simply abhor the sound and feeling of plaque being scraped from my teeth.  And when it's time to fill a cavity, I'd rather be forced to watch a 48-hour marathon The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - Clockwork Orange style - than feel a needle full of Novocain penetrating my gums.  Embarrassing admission: I've had two 5-year stretches in my life when I didn't go to the dentist at all because of these aversions.

Second of all, I have to admit that I've always hated dentists... until I met Dr. Sims and his colleague Dr. Alisa Becirspahic.   Dr. Sims examined my teeth after a routine cleaning, and his chair-side manner, if you will, is great.  His voice is a cross between Jack Nicholson and John Wayne which, interestingly, is rather calming.  While examining my gums he said, "Those are happy gums (pilgrim)."  He didn't say "pilgrim," of course, but it would have been apropos.  Dr. Becirspahic filled a cavity for me, and I'd like to give her a gold medal for completing this task in record time.  And her ability to give a virtually pain-free shot is AWESOME.  I haven't had a problem with that tooth since she fixed it.

Summing up my experience there, I'm going to break it down thusly:

PROS: Hygenist Amanda (very knowledgeable, explains everything, quite considerate); receptionist (always smiling, exceedingly pleasant); technology (I get email and text message reminders of appointments - the office is virtually paperless); you can watch TV while they're scraping plaque (nice distraction); it doesn't take forever to get an appointment; highly competent, professional staff elicits peace of mind that you're in the best care; and parking on the street has never been a problem.

CONS: It takes me 30 long minutes to drive there.  I know - cry me a river.

I followed the Yelp! reviews to find Dr. Sims as my new dentist. As much as I like to blaze my own path, I just have to follow suit with all the other reviews and say that I had a totally positive experience going in for a general check-up, cleaning and discussion of my long-term dental health. The hygienist Shamika (sorry if this is misspelled) is very thorough and has a winning personality. Dr. Sims is very professional, friendly, thorough, and uses state-of-the-art equipment.  He allayed some concerns I had and gave me a clear forecast of services I'll need some time down the road - he is not in the business of recommending procedures unless they are immediately required.

He even recalled that my former dentist (now retired) was a classmate in dental school who played in a band called Nitrous Roxide. Yes, sadly true - dentists gone wild.

Getting a root canal can be a long and uncomfortable process. It can be even more painful if you don't mesh with your dentist. That's why I'm glad I found Dr. Sims Dentistry.  I have a history of moving from dentist to dentist. I either found them too patronizing or too impersonal. When you're putting a mini jackhammer to my teeth, a little encouragement goes a long way.

Dr. Sims and Dr. Reese have a great bedside manner, explaining procedures in detail, even sending me a digital animation of a root canal via e-mail. During the process Dr. Reese constantly asked me if everything was OK. This gets repetitive after a while, but I'm happy for it. Most dentists I've visited never seemed to care if I was in pain. During one of my appointments I watched some TV during the procedure. Nothing like watching a little train wreck on Maury Povich while having your teeth drilled.

The root canal took a few months to complete, but it was probably the most psychologically painless experience I've ever had at the dentist. This is coming from a guy who is terrified of even getting his teeth cleaned.

The rest of the staff is very friendly and helpful. You can communicate and make appointments using e-mail and text messages as well as by phone.

I started seeing Dr. Sims about 2 and half months ago, and despite the 5-star Yelp reviews, I was quite nervous.  I hadn't been to the dentist in nearly 3 years and had a whole host of issues I couldn't ignore any longer -- broken teeth, gum disease, ugly, scary stuff.  The God of Dentistry at least had mercy on me and confined the ugliness to the back teeth -- beautiful smile in front, war zone in the back.

Anyway, Dr. Sims completely put me at ease!  Because of all the work I have to get done, I'm in his office every 2 to 3 weeks.  He is the most attentive and thoughtful dentist I've ever been to.. and I say that after being treated for a number of years exclusively by top dentists and post-grad specialists at the UIC College of Dentistry (instructors, not students).  I refused to be seen by a dentist with a practice who wasn't teaching due to trust issues.. but read more about that in my therapist review ;).  But with Dr. Sims I don't have to worry.  He takes the time to explain what is going on and discuss treatment options.  Because I really want to know and understand what's going on with me and what certain procedures require (okay, so maybe I'm a neurotic patient), he pulls up videos, photos, diagrams, close-up shots of my actual mouth live streaming and projected on the kick-ass flats screen above the chair, etc. to break down the problem & the procedure involved to correct it!  If you're squeamish and would rather remain oblivious, he won't traumatize you with the grotesque inner-workings of your dental cavities without your consent..

On top of that, his entire staff is super friendly, caring and courteous!  The ladies at the front desk are AMAZING.  They greet you by name when you walk in, ask you how you've been since the last treatment/procedure, and are really helpful during checkout.  Also, if you don't have dental insurance, they offer financial assistance!!  They have something called the "Smile Program".. You pay $129 to enroll for a year and you get with it two free exams, full mouth x-rays, and a free cleaning to be used any time that year.  The best part is that you get a 20% discount on EVERY procedure you have done for the entire year (including cosmetic stuff!).  I'm a broke graduate student with no dental insurance, so the financial assistance has really been a life saver for me.

I was overwhelmed by my dental issues before seeing Dr. Sims, and now I'm actually excited about all the work we've been doing.  I look forward to seeing him and his staff rather than cowering from fear of pain, discomfort, financial concerns, and the stress of potentially losing my teeth.  Whether you're just looking for general upkeep or your mouth was attacked by sugar-coated boulders, Dr. Sims can take care of you.  He also specializes in restorative work and being overall awesome.  Go to Dr. Sims!

I have never used yelp to find a dentist before, but I am so glad I did!  I had been seeing a different dentist for about the last 10 years.  I never really had a negative experience with that dentist, but I never really had a great experience either.  When I had dental insurance, the annual exams and cleanings were free, so I never felt compelled to try anything new.  About a year ago, I lost my dental insurance and have been struggling to maintain my routine dental visits due to the cost at the place I had been going to.  Enter Dr. Sims!  I learned about their very affordable Smile Program from another yelp review.  I decided to give them and their program a try and was able to schedule an appointment for the very next day.  The office staff is very friendly and I had a very thorough exam (full set of x-rays included).  Dr. Sims is very nice man who seems to actually take his time with his patients!  We ran out of time (my appointment was scheduled for an hour and we actually went a little longer than that)  and I had to reschedule for the following day to have the cleaning done (a little inconvenient but not really that big of a deal since I live pretty close).  I received what was probably the best cleaning of my life from the hygienist!  I will definitely be back!  As long as they continue to keep their Smile Program affordable, I will be able to do my routine exams and cleanings there!  I highly recommend them.

Both my husband and I have been to see Dr. Sims. My husband had a dental emergency and I was forced to go to Yelp to find a dentist nearby who might be able to help him immediately. He has huge dental fear and lots of dental issues as a result of having health issues related to diabetes and kidney problems. So it was with some trepidation that my husband, went in not even knowing the dentist. He ended up having to have a tooth pulled. Dr Sims showed concern for him and was knowledgeable enough about his health conditions and, fortunately, it all turned out OK and was a positive experience overall. He will need a lot more work, so once we sort it all out, we will see how Sims manages it.

Since we have no dental insurance, we both signed up for his Smile program. I went in recently and had my x-rays and exam and began my treatment plan. His hygenist/assistant was very nice, as was Dr. Sims. He suggested a treatment plan which he explained to me as he went through both the x-rays and the color computer images of my teeth. I had been having some pain in a back tooth and he said I had a "leaky filling", and explained why I needed it and a few others replaced. Actually, he suggested a crown for one, but I really wanted a less expensive alternative and went with a filling instead. And since it has been a long time since I have seen a dentist, I will need a deep cleaning.

When I went in for the filling I had a different dentist do the actual work, Dr. Alisa, I believe. She and the other assistants were very nice. She was gentle and caring and seemed to do a thorough job on that filling and another. The experience was not that traumatic overall. Afterward, there was no residual pain or tenderness, and my bite seems to be perfectly aligned. I count it as a positive dental experience and I will continue with my treatment plan so I can get back on track. At this point, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this practice.

And the office staff is great!

Dr Sims is seriously the best!!!

I have never had a dentist as caring and attentive as Dr Sims.
I recently had a root canal, which was painless, and I could not have been in better hands, he explained everything he did and made me feel so comfortable.

I have to say when my ex told me about Dr. Sims and I met the guy, He was a very nice guy. However when he looked at my teeth, did the x-rays, and took the time to talk to me about my seizure's,/ or some kind of form of them, I wasn't sure yet! Dr Sims, "Told me he will do the work and help with my broken teeth from the seizures, not a problem!" So I paid for the x-Rays, made another appointment to see him. A week before my appointment, my ex who referred me to Dr. Sims, was upset with me because I wouldn't take him back! Funny thing is, the day of the appointment, Dr. Sims called me and told me "He researched what was going on with me, and that he and any other dentist has NO BUSINESS EVER WORKING ON MY TEETH!". Seriously? So my teeth are supposed to rot? Dr. Sims Doesn't seem like he has enough confidence in himself or his work! Or he isn't honest! I'm going with NOT an honest guy and takes personal friendships over patients any day! I'll tell you why I suggest that! I say that because My Neurologist WASN'T EVEN SURE, what was going on with me yet! I told Dr. Sims, "It's a form of a seizure that is going on with me, my Neurologist WASN'T EVEN SURE! What was going on with me yet!" There was no name for my condition yet! So how does a dentist know? How could Dr. Sims "research what I have when there wasn't even a name for it yet!"?

Any dentist who turns you away shouldn't be a dentist!  I spoke to My Neurologist and told him what "Dr. Sims said"; He told me "He couldn't have researched anything on me because we (My Neurologist and I) didn't have a name for it yet. Also that Dr. Sims must have another reason for not working on me, because there is NO liability to work on me, and if Dr. Sims felt there was or any other dentist, that is what Dr. Insurance is for! ". So I hope that friend was worth Turing away someone who really needed her teeth fixed now, & you missing out on 20,000 in your pocket! Ouch that has to hurt!!! The best part of what Dr. Sims told, was, "When I asked him what site did he research my condition on, and what did he find that it said"? All Dr. Sims would say is, "No dentist should ever be working on your teeth!" No name of the site, no answer to "what is exactly wrong with me that he did research on". No Nothing! Why wouldn't you tell someone that? Shame on you Dr. Sims!

Everything from making an appointment to my actual cleaning was seamless.  I was able to schedule a cleaning on Thursday and be seen, by the dentist, on Friday.  The desk staff, the hygienist, and Dr. Sims were all very personable.  A huge pro, Dr. Sims did not try to sell any unnecessary services or products.

I finally feel like I found a dentist I can trust.

Dr. Sims is both ethical and honest.

I went to him for a second opinion after another dentist told me I need $850 worth of work.

Dr. Sims went out of his way to explain evidence supporting what the other doctor thought and the evidence to support his opinion.  He not only relied on the x-rays but he also used laser technology at no extra cost to put me at ease about cavities.  All this for a very small fee because I was a new patient.
He told me that I didn't need any work and that I had excellent teeth.  I signed up for a no-insurance dental plan so I can have cleanings this year without breaking the bank.
His staff made me smile and I felt like I had been seeing them for years.  I felt welcome as a patient not as a dollar sign.

I found Dr. Sims through Yelp and I have to agree with all the positive reviews I found here. The entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful !

I ended up needing a wisdom tooth removed and the only painful part of the experience was getting a brief Novocain shot. Other than that, I didn't feel a thing and the tooth was out in less than a minute.

Dr. Sims is very friendly, really listens to all your concerns, and takes the time to explain everything to you.

The prices were very inexpensive as well - which was a big concern for someone like me who does not have dental insurance.

I'm so happy to have found a great new dentist.

I called and made an appointment as a new client.  They are super friendly and set me up with online patient forms, which were great.  Easy to complete when I wanted to and ready when I arrived.

I arrived and the receptionist is super friendly.  My appointment was on time, and my hygienist was great.  She took her time and was gentle.  I like the fact that they introduce you to your hygienist as the person who will be taking care of you going forward.  You seem to get the same one each time.

Dr Sims arrived to do his assessment.  His assessment was what I expected and very friendly.  The thing I really liked is that he did not try to sell me into cosmetic work.  The thing is my teeth are in good condition, but there are a couple of really small cosmetic things I could do.  Every dentist seems to always go for that, Dr Sims didn't; he provided an honest assessment.

I hadn't been to the dentist in over 4 years since leaving my home town of Portland, OR and relocating to Chicago. I feel very, VERY fortunate to have landed in Dr. Sims care. His entire staff including Marlene at the front desk, Naomi the expert hygienist, and Dr. Sims himself made my visit as painless as possible. After four years of not being at a dentist I was expecting my teeth cleaning to be a much longer, labor intensive affair, but Naomi had me out of there in no time and no pain at all.

I also had a crown re-glued after a fateful incident with a Milkdud and Dr. Sims was so gentle I didn't need numbing at all. I cannot recommend this office of dentistry professionals highly enough. If you are in need of a dentist you need look no further.

I went here because of all the high reviews and it was a very good decision. I will definitely keep going!

I found Dr. Sims because I frequent the 7-11 next door : ) and had seen the signage in the window.  When my girlfriend had a tooth emergency at 2am I jumped on YELP to see who was gentle and good with teeth nearby and I was pleased to find all rave reviews with Dr. Sims as he was on the short list of Dentists to try when we found the time to get the next cleaning.

The entire staff was wonderful, they squeezed us in as soon as they opened office and were very helpful and calming during something a bit traumatic for us.

We have to go back for some follow up, and I will be scheduling a cleaning shortly, ... great pricing, great service, super friendly laid-back and professional.  I can actually say I'm excited to go to the dentist this year.

I found Dr Sims and Dr Rees through yelp, and am so glad I did. First, the website is very comprehensive and allows for online appointment booking. Second, street parking was ample (metered, but plentiful). Third, the front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and can even send text message appointment reminders.
In my first week as a patient, I have seen both dentists at this practice, and have been very happy with my experience. I felt that my treatment plan was thoroughly explained to me before and during each treatment (cleaning and filling). The billing also was thoroughly explained by the front desk staff. I felt comfortable throughout the process, as my comfort level was routinely checked by the dentists and hygienists.

I would highly recommend Dr Sims' dental practice- top notch service!

Really nice guy, with a very relaxed atmosphere type of office.  Staff was quite nice as well.  It was our first appt with them and we will be going back for sure.

Kicker was how he went over the xrays with me and explained them.  It was nice to get educated about my mouth rather than feeling like I was just run thru a car wash and that's it.

I received an advertisement for Sims dentistry in my mail box and decided to check them out. I had been looking for a new dentist for some time now, and after reading great reviews on yelp, i made my way to their office. Great location, but the office itself....kinda odd! It is a converted apartment, that somewhat looks like a dentists office. The chairs are separated by walls that are only about four feet tall, which made me feel uncomfortable, since i could hear everything that was going on on either side of me. The hygienist, Naomi, was absolutely delightful, and the doc was friendly, thou a bit too arrogant. All i all the visit was OK, but i will not be returning, because the  office just did not evoke the confident feeling of being in professional care that i had been hoping for.

I have to give Dr. Sims the full 5. After my temporary crown fell off last night, he came in today - not just a Sunday, but Superbowl Sunday! - to put a new one on. I really appreciate that.

Picked this place because I just moved in the area.  I'm one that has been going to a dentist every 6 months since I was 5.  I needed my route cleaning and gave this place a chance because of the reviews.  The staff is very friendly.  Dr. Sims does a great job with cleaning my teeth.  He went over my x-rays and educated me on my teeth (all was positive).  He took his time with me and I didnt feel like I was being rushed.  I plan to be back for my next cleaning.  Such a relief to find a great dentist that didn't scare me about my teeth to try to sell me more services/products.  He said my teeth are excellent and to keep up the great work!

I hadn't been to the dentist in over 10 years!  I was so worried about going.....and then I met Dr. Sims - what a life saver!  I have had to get some pretty extensive work done since seeing Dr. Sims for the first time 4 months ago, but it has been so easy!  Dr. Sims is amazing!  Not only is just a very nice man, but he is soooo gentle and explains everything before and WHILE he is doing the work.  I also have to say that his staff is wonderful - I just can't say enough about this office!  If you are looking for a new dentist, or are afraid of the dentist - give Dr. Sims & his team a try - I really believe you won't be disappointed!

Found Dr. Sims via Yelp after some disappointing and painful experiences with a dentist in the past.  Went for my first exam earlier this year and rushed in for an emergency root canal this afternoon.  They could tell I was uncomfortable when I walked in and made it a priority to relieve the pain immediately.  The entire root canal process was pain free and comfortable.  Just don't do what I did... instead, listen to your dentist and don't put off things like this.  Fortunately for me, Dr. Sims was there when I needed him and made the hurt go away almost instantly.  And he gave me his cell phone to contact him over the weekend if necessary.

After having had lots of dental work done (some good, some bad), I'm pretty much prepared for hard news and uncomfortable experiences in the dental chair.

But Dr. Sims put all that aside. He is such a therapeutic presence; making sure he pointed out the good things and being calm and positive about the work ahead. He was very conscientious about any pain or discomfort in my mouth. He put me completely at ease and made me feel optimistic about my teeth. His office team is very wonderful too.

I can't express enough how important it is to find a good dentist, someone you trust. Dr. Sims is that kind of dentist!

First I want to say that everyone at this office is nice and always in a great mood. I went to the same dentist in Florida for all my life, when i moved to Chicago i chose to give Dr. Sims a shot. He has blown my expectations out of the water, his office always gets me in right away and the hygentist that worked with me is funny, very smart and answers all my question....Here is the best part, i signed up for the smile package when i first went there and todays cleaning was FREE!! Dr. Sims i am going to recommend you to all my friends and want everyone to know in the Chicago area how good this dentist is!!

Talk about a committed group of people!  I found Dr. Sims (on YELP) one night, after I had cracked a tooth.  He had me come in first thing the next morning.  I hadn't been to a dentist...in quite some time.  Frankly, I just don't like them much.  The dentistry that I had experienced in the past severely lacked compassion...along with personality.  This man is the complete opposite of any dentist that I have ever encountered!  The whole team there is a completely different breed.  They are actually happy people...no really, they are.  You don't walk in to some bitchy receptionist that ignores you until she sees fit to acknowledge your existence.  You walk in to MARLENE : )  She's amazing!  She's happy, funny, sweet, intelligent & understanding.  She actually looks at you AND even listens to what you're saying.  You don't get that person that refuses to look at you, says "sign in" and "someone will be right with you"... She's "right with you" She's on it!
Then you have Jessie.  Jessie Rocks Too!  She's  good stuff.  I've never seen an assistant be so on top of things.  She knows what Dr. Sims is thinking before he even says it.  She's really good at not letting you choke on your drool too.  She doesn't let it run down your face or choke you to death.   She has a great sense of humor, she totally puts a person at ease.
Dr. Sims has a great staff and he knows it.  They all complement each other so well, literally...even verbally.  Dr. Sims talks about how great Jessie is and how amazing Marlene is.  Marlene and Jessie talk about how great Dr. Sims is...both as a doctor and as a person.  It's so refreshing to see a group of people work so well together as a team.  It's so settling to know that the people that you've entrusted with your care truly trust each other.
I will never go to another dentist!   The man did a root canal on me and I didn't feel a thing.  I didn't even feel the shot to numb me.  I'm a big baby when it comes to needles.  I'm not kidding...I did NOT feel a thing.  He talks you through every step.  He is constantly checking on you, asking if you're ok.  If he's not, Jessie is.   He explains everything to you before he does it, pulls your images up on the monitor and explains your teeth and the process layer by layer, step by step.
I had a bit of a reaction to, probably, the glue used to hold my temporary in.  Dr. Sims got me back in right away.  He got me comfortable again and then even met me back in the office on a Sunday to replace it.  The man is dedicated.  He is compassionate and understanding.  Dr. Sims is an artist!
This really is the place to go.  If I move 500 miles away from Chicago, I will fly in every 6 months to see Dr. Sims!

What can I say...I moved here from Indiana and needed a new dentist. I found my "new dental home", as Dr. Sims put it. It had been awhile since I had been and everyone was very assuring. I work retail so I can appreciate great, quick service.  I will definetly be back and you should too!

Dr. Sims is by far the most amazing doctor I have yet to encounter. If anyone has a phobia about the dentist, fears dental procedures, doesn't like dentists (or even if someone does) then he will make you think twice about fearing a dentist ever again.

I felt extremely defeated when I found out I had a cavity (as I brush like a fiend, and have good oral hygiene). The cavity wasn't actually a fault of mine, but I still had to get it filled and this was my first time dealing with this situation. So needless to say I was scared. I don't handle new procedures very well, and I fear pain (yes, I am a big baby sometimes). The idea of a needle and a drill brought tears to my eyes. But Dr. Sims sat down with me and talked about what they would be doing and even showed me an animated video of the procedure so I would understand what they would be doing. Even though I was nervous, his calming, knowledgeable presence helped me a lot.

Needless to say the procedure came off without a hitch, and I didn't feel anything! He cares about his patients and really takes his time to make sure everyone gets the treatment they deserve. I never feel like I'm rushed out or left with unanswered questions. They have so much respect and dedication for their patients, and it shows!

An added plus is the amazing staff he has. Maybe amazing doctors also find amazing employees, because his staff is wonderful. Marlene, the front desk manager, is a ray of sunshine. She can always fit you into the schedule and is perhaps the happiest and sweetest person you will ever meet. I found everyone there to be patient, understanding and caring. I trust him completely, and if anyone fears going to the dentist, you won't after a visit with him. Trust me, it's worth it completely.

Amazing, kind, and wonderful. If I could write a novel on Dr. Sims, I would! He saw me for a dental emergency last Monday due to unbelieveable pain from a missing filling that I had since February. It ended up being a fractured tooth, my back molar, that had an infection and would have to be extracted. Dr. Sims spent a ton of time with me, x-raying the spot, and numbed me up before having to extract the tooth entirely. Although a painful process, Dr. Sims was extremely gentle, and talked me through the entire process. The tooth, as stubborn as my personality, took almost an hour and a half to extract. I felt very well taken care of and now I'm starting to feel 100% better. His staff is super friendly and accomodating, and they truly care about their patients. You will not be just another number at this clinic. They really care about their patients' dental health and trust me, IT SHOWS!!! If you dreaded going to the dentist like I did, Dr. Sims will ease your fears entirely. Amazing, kind, and wonderful.
