I went here for my wisdom teeth extraction. I was able to make the appointment quickly and once I was there, the rest of the process (consultation, payment plan, surgery) was effortless. I was put under (which I recommend, unless you want to be awake and see everything that is happening..yikes) and woke up with no pain at all. The following days I felt very manageable and minor pain with VERY minimal swelling. My friends have even commented on how surprised they were that I was recovering so well! I recommend getting copies of your panorax x-rays from your dentist to bring here. It'll save you $93 if you can :)

After neglecting a broken tooth for over a year, it finally became a problem a few weeks ago. Simply put, I would take the pain of child birth any day over the agony caused by an abscessed tooth. Of course, the dentist was pushing for a root canal (EVIL). But besides the health risks, what's the point of saving half a tooth? X-rays showed that the close proximity of the tooth (an upper molar) to my sinus cavity made it a somewhat complicated extraction. SO, I decided to look up an oral surgeon who could do the job right the first time. That's when I found McGann Facial Design right here on yelp.
From getting an appointment to my post-op visit, the entire experience went down without a hitch. On the day of the appointment, I was in and out in less than an hour! The office is very clean and modern - much more soothing than the cold, "sterile" look of many dental/medical offices. After one week, Dr. McGann confirmed that I was healing normally and there was no sinus perforation (what I was fearing could happen with someone less experienced.) The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that I ended up having a reaction to the local anesthetic (that hurt more than the extraction site). All in all, I would highly recommend Dr. McGann and his team.
P.S. - I assumed the Golden Spoon deal was only for the kids getting their wisdom teeth taken out. So I was pleasantly surprised when I received my gift card in the mail - a nice touch and an example of just overall good customer service. Keep up the great work.
P.P.S. - They do not validate parking so make sure to have $3 cash on you. -

Dr. McGann is amazing!
I went in, got an analysis of my wisdom tooth, he explained the process and answered all my questions and was very nice.
I went back in a week later and got my wisdom tooth removed in less than an hour and I was out of their.
A week later, my tooth started hurting and I went back to find out that where my tooth was extracted, I had an infection. He cleaned out the area, removed the pus, and gave me some antibiotics. The process was fast and easy and the follow up was great. He sent me a $10 golden spoon gift card. I don't know whats with the golden spoon gift cards because my friends from other dentists and orthodontists also got $10 gift cards to golden spoon. Golden spoon must sponser the american dental society or something HAHA
I would highly recommend McGann 100% and stand by my word that this will be the best and most efficient Doctor when it comes to tooth extractions and implants! EVER! -

Got my bottom wisdom teeth pulled out mid February. I was refereed to McGann from my dentist. Really easy to register (Medical history was done online). Went in for my consultation and did my panoramic x-ray and talked to the surgeon about the process and what to expect. Very informative and answered all of my questions. Set up my appointment and a couple of days later I was going to have surgery done.
Nervous when I reached the office but the assistants did a great job keeping me calm and making sure that I felt comfortable. Next thing you know it - I fell asleep and my surgery was done. Estimated time was about 20 mins. Took me into a different room to relax and make sure that I was able to stand on my two feet. Gave me a blanket to keep me warm and directed me to my mom. Gave me some post op instructions, and let me keep my teeth (^_^)/) YAY! and I was out the door.
Everything healed and I didn't have to go back for anything. McGann and his staff were super helpful and they always had a smile on their face. ANNNNNNND the office was super modern and relaxing! Love that you can see out the window and see the freeway, 163! The office was nice and clean and it was a pleasure to have met such a wonderful staff!
The only downside I can say about this office is that Sharps hospital is such a maze. It took me awhile to find the office but other then that --- It was an experience.

Unbelievably amazing!
He and his staff turned the nightmare of having teeth extracted into a pleasure.
I cannot say how comfortable and at ease Dr. McGann and his staff made me feel. I HAD to get my wisdom teeth pulled, I was in constant pain and could not talk or eat comfortably at all. I was terrified of the idea of having teeth pulled, I was dreading it. As concerned as I was, I did a lot of research and actually found Dr. McGann right here on Yelp.
I made an appointment for an assessment and the procedure on the same day, right after each other. After the assessment, he did not pressure me one bit to go through with the procedure and that even though the appointment was made there was no commitment to going through with anything that day.
I got all 4 wisdom teeth pulled that day, and also chose to go with anesthesia. The idea of both those things sounded like torture to me prior to stepping into McGann's office but the way we were treated and informed made me feel so safe. The procedure was quick and easy! Went in, got in the chair, counted backwards then woke up :) I think I was under for a total of 40 minutes.
I felt BETTER after having the teeth pulled than I did before. Did not swell, or have much pain after--never needed to take anything more than ibuprofen. I do not recommend anyone doing this, and please don't tell McGann but I ate steak the very next day!
After my follow-up appointment, I was actually a little sad that I wouldn't be coming back!
Highlights of my experience:

- Minimal post-op pain!
- No Swelling
- Clean rooms, neat & stylish :)
- Dr.McGann and his staff were highlights themselves
If you need any kind of oral surgery, I can not imagine a better experience than the one Dr. McGann and the ORSC could give you. -

I found Dr. McGann right here on Yelp. I also read a few reviews from other places and every single review was positive! After my recent wisdom teeth extraction I can confirm that all of his positive reviews are 100% true!
I heard horror stories from other people who had their wisdom teeth pulled before, extremely swollen cheeks, excessive bleeding, extremely long recovery times, etc. Dr. McGann is an expert and specializes in oral surgery so to my pleasant surprise I had minimal swelling, was able to eat solid food again 4 days later and my bleeding did not extend beyond the 1st 12 hours. I absolutely attribute this to his experience in oral surgery.
I was extremely nervous before my surgery and called the office several times with questions. Each time they were able to answer all of my questions and assured me that the procedure would be fine.
The office itself has a calming effect. The waiting room is modern, clean and peaceful.
To personalize your experience, Dr. McGann will personally call you after the surgery to check up on you and see if you have any questions or concerns. This isn't something I've ever experienced before after a medical visit.
Some things that can be improved for Dr. McGann for wisdom teeth surgery:
-Give your patients the post op papers to review when they come in for the pre op. It was several pages of long instructions on what to do for pain, bleeding, etc. It would have been nice to be more prepared by reading this information beforehand.
- I did not receive enough gauze. They gave me 2 packs of gauze, I asked for 3 and I still went through all of it. I recommend they give out more than needed. I had to have someone bring me more gauze that night as I was in no condition to drive after my extraction.
If you need to schedule an oral surgery procedure, I highly recommend choosing Dr. McGann over a general dentist. His costs may be slightly higher but the care you'll receive is exceptional. -

I went to a pharmacy to get some recommended over the counter pain medicine for wisdom teeth pain but what the pharamacist recommended, didn't help my pain at all. I was so miserable from the pain.
I haven't even actaully been in to see Dr. Grant McGann yet but I was desperately searching on yelp this evening for an oral surgeon that could pull out my wisdom teeth as soon as possible because I was experiencing excruciating pain on the left side of my upper & bottom teeth that were being pushed by my left wisdom teeth.
I saw on yelp that Dr. Grant McGann had the best reviews so I called his office tonight hoping to get an emergency contact number. Fortunately, there was a number & Dr. Grant McGann called me back immediately & I told him about the pain, he asked me some questions to figure out proper diagnois & he said he could promptly call the pharmacy closest to my residence to prescribe me some medicine. He said his office could give me a call back the next morning (Monday) to schedule my oral surgery as soon as they opened on Tuesday, if I wanted to wait til Tuesday.
Dr. McGann knew I wanted my teeth extracted as soon as possible & that some oral surgeons were open on Monday. He offered me the number to call an oral surgeon who he knew to be open on Mondays & after writing down his number... & after a bit of thought I told him I'd actually feel more comfortable waiting to go to him on Tuesday if the medicine he prescribed me could hold off the pain til then because Dr. Grant McGann had so many spectacular reviews.
I told him how skeptical I was about going to a new surgeon here in SD because I got my 2 right wisdom teeth taken out with absolutely no pain, soreness or bleeding afterwards what-so-ever in Northern Ca, 3 yrs ago. He asked if I knew the name & city & it turned out that he just so happened to know who my past surgeon was! What a small, small world. Anyways, I'm really happy to say I'm SO THANKFUL that Dr Grant McGann helped me as much as he did tonight (on this holiday weekend) because I am so so so happy that the medicine he prescribed me is working really well & I am not in anymore pain. I would not have been able to sleep tonight if it weren't for him going out of his way to take so much time to help me in any way he could. He gave me options & other resources even if it meant giving business to someone else.
That really showed me he cared more about my well being than gaining another client.
I will make sure to write an updated review after my appointment with him this Tuesday as well! :) -

Didn't end up getting my wisdom teeth removed here. Will continue my search.
After getting a quote over the phone of a ballpark cost, it came in about 2k more... And I found out after the panoramic x rays were taken... which they said were covered, but then I recieved a bill for those x rays! McGann might be good, but his back office needs some help so I'll never know. Make sure you understand what you will and won't be paying for before sitting in the chair or you'll go through headaches! -

Okay, for those of you searching for an oral surgeon, look no further. Today was my second procedure involving an implant and bone graft. Just like the first procedure in May, everything went smoothly with first rate professionalism. At no time did I have any concerns because in addition to Dr. McGann being incredibly competent, his operating suite was uber-clean and his assistant DeeDee was on the ball and super pleasant. I have no qualms about recommending Dr. McGann and I am not easy to please! His practice with caring staff will be the only consideration if I find myself in need of further oral surgery.

This guy has over 20 reviews and all 5 stars. Now I know why. This was the best visit to a doctor's office I've ever had. I saw this guy on Yelp. Found him on Google. But then my dentist recommended me to him. He's everywhere. Staff is excellent too. I met them all.

I needed to have all four of my wisdom teeth taken out and was referred to Dr. McGann by my dentist. I was expecting to be in pain and look like a chipmunk for about a week after, but I experienced only a bit of soreness and slight swelling. It didn't really impact my diet either. I had my teeth pulled in the afternoon and was eating soup noodles that night! I attribute my positive recovery experience to Dr. McGann's skill as an oral surgeon. Everybody at Dr. McGann's office was super nice and really put me at ease. The office itself is very nice and hi tech, but spa-like at the same time. I would recommend Dr. McGann to anybody looking for a good oral surgeon.

My son has his wisdom teeth removed in February of this year. Every person on the staff, including the receptionist, was kind, helpful, and friendly. Loved that! My son did develop a painful infection a few weeks later and we had to go back, but the doctor removed a bone shard that was causing the irritation and prescribed an antibiotic, which took care of the problem. He developed another sore jaw and gums just last week, almost 2 months past the surgery, and he pulled a 1/2 inch fragment out of his gums where the surgery had been done. I am not sure if we just had bad luck-twice-with bone fragments but I do feel confident that Dr. McGann's staff would have taken good care of him if we had needed to go back again. Hopefully no more problems!

I was the biggest 26 year old chicken I'm sure Dr. Grant and his staff have ever seen. I did whatever I could do to dodge getting my teeth pulled for the last decade! Until... this weekend. How (un)conveniently did my wisdom tooth swell up right after Christmas before NYE!!! I was utterly disappointed and search high and low for an Doc to finally take these stupid teeth out before NYE so I could still rock out rolling in 2011! After multiple offices being closed or demanding unnecessary referrals to get in, I finally found ORSC. 1 star for taking my insurance, 2 stars for having a very nice and easy to navigate website, 3 stars for a fantastic staff who were so caring and sweet, 4 stars for getting me in THAT day luckily, and 5 stars for the most pleasant experience ever. After hearing horror stories and success stories alike, I'm 100% certain I had the best experience. In no time, I was pleasantly put to sleep and woke up less four annoying teeth, plus smiles around me and a (now the next day) solid recovery! Minimal swelling, if any, and minimal pain... This has been by far the best experience ever with any dentist/oral surgeon. I would HIGHLY recommend them and if you are reading this I certainly hope you decide to go to Dr. Grant!

This is by far the best all around experience I've had with a doctor/dentist. I was referred to Dr. McCann and didn't know what to expect. Everything from the ambiance of the office, to the professionalism of the staff was impeccable. The most impressive part about my experience: when Dr. McCann himself called me later in the afternoon to see how I was feeling after my morning procedure.
