Stopped in on the way home from Yosemite after getting rained out over Memorial Day weekend. This place was one of the bettter climbing gyms I've been to. A great place to develop outdoor climbing skills while not actually being outdoors. Cracks, pin scars, huecos and more. They even have a Gunks-style wall with horizontal cracks. I wish I remembered to pack my tri-cams!

My favorite routes were the so-called "natural" climbs that did not have any colored tape or holds showing you the way. The routefinding was all up to you.

The staff is very friendly and the interior has a lot of variation.  They even have yoga classes every Tuesday night that focus on flexibility, and they have a small gym, and a children's play area.  The prices are OK.  It is definitely not the cheapest, but you get a lot for your money, especially if you are a member.  You can do outdoor bouldering too, although this may only be for members.  People don't seem to use the outdoor part very much.  I think that it is always open though.
If you want to learn how to climb the staff often points out things that you can work on if you ask them, and throughout the year they tend to offer specialized classes, but your best source would probably be the regulars that spend their lives there.  The people that climb here are part of what make this such a good gym.

An amazing rock gym.  They are located in a giant warehouse outside of Sacramento.  Unlike city gyms that have to cram their walls into a tiny little space, Granite Arch is sprawling.  Because of their size they can afford to have a great deal of variation in their walls--from the Dr. Seuss kids wall to their giant arch.  They also have an amazing bouldering room.  The bouldering room is larger than most gyms I've been too!

I believe they also have outdoor climbing during the summer.  Not those shady county fair walls either.  Nice, well-made, bouldering walls.
