A great place to find unusual wines or beers. And the cheese! oh, the cheeses they have on hand really are awesome. This shop is a treasure to have in Newburyport!

Some of my favorite things:
Cheese, olives, encased processed meat byproducts, bread.
Sold at Grand Trunk Imports? Check.
One of my favorite places: here! Yumm.
The price of cheese is high by the pound, yes. But let me ask YOU... are you going to eat a pound of cheese?
Do the math with me, I'll make it easy. I purchased two good sized pieces of cheese, a tub of olives and a loaf of bread for $16. Enough food for two people for two meals each. Works out to $4 per meal. Expensive?
Oh, and you don't have to buy cheese you think you'll hate. He'll cut you a taste so you know you'll like it. One tip ...try the vermont smoked pepperoni and the smoked cheddar. -

I love this little shop.
It is full of a lot of stuff I'd like to try but, alas, I am poor and it is all gourmet and expensive!
I have grabbed some craft beer, cheese, and sausage here and enjoyed every morsel. My girlfriend swooned for some of the olives they had here.
I expect that I'll be back whenever I'm in town.

I am a fan of any place that sells wine, cheese, salamis, etc... and anything that could constitute a snack/lunch. I looked over their cheese case and saw lots of options - I love cheese and left with two, unfortunately it is expensive so I can't return too often - $20/#. On a side note - I don't recall any prices listed, I guess "if you have to ask you can't afford it" is the motto? I was happy with my selections, I have eaten them in the past, and the service was very casual, pleasant and friendly.
This is a great spot to treat yourself, buy a nice gift package for new friends or neighbors - wine, cheese, meat, bread, chocolate - you crave it they have it! -

I live about an hour from Newburyport, but there are plenty of reasons for me to make the trip to this charming city by the mouth of the Merrimack River, with Grand Trunk Imports & Gourmet perhaps being the best reason of them all. This little shop in the downtown area is a food lover's dream, with all kinds of high-quality products, including wine, cheese, beer, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, pasta, and so much more. And the folks who work there are really passionate about what they do and are more than willing to answer any questions about the products they sell.
The place has wine tastings every Friday and Saturday afternoon, and I believe they also do an occasional beer tasting, though I'm not sure how frequent those are. I'm more of a beer drinking than a wine drinker, and have been impressed by their selection, which includes some good Belgian ales as well as British and German beers.
This place is a must if you're into gourmet foods and happen to be in the general area. -

A great addition to downtown Newburyport. This place is all charm and high quality. I came here looking for some cheeses (for a cheese plate of course) and the staff was extremely helpful. They let me try a variety of cheeses and let me sample some honey to go with them. Ended up with a wonderful variety for the party we were going to and ended up buying the honey as well. Delish!
They also happened to be doing a little wine tasting and I ended up buying a few bottles of spanish wine.
What I like about this place is how they are very helpful without being pushy. I've been back a few more times and experienced the same level of service each time. -

A pleasant gourmet surprise. I was very pleased with the selection of meats, as well as the crackers, honeys, and other treats that are difficult to find in this area.
But, the best part, was the cheese. Although the selection was somewhat small, they've managed to offer some of the best options. For example, the blue cheese I had was from some small Vermont farm and it was one of the most incredible blues I've ever eaten. They also had some of the more rare cheeses that are hard to find, especially in this area. The staff were friendly and definitely knew their cheeses. -

Grand Trunk is a special place. They combine very high quality and thoughtful products with excellent, friendly and knowledgable service.
The cheese selection is diverse and well chosen. The wines are not ones you would find any where else locally.
The owners are the type of people whose passion for what they are doing is obvious to everyone who comes into Grand Trunk. -

This boutique specialty food shop has the requisite selection of cheeses, and meats including Spanish serrano ham. They also have an eclectic selection of other specialty items such as Quebec's own Unibroue Vinegars distilled with Maudite and other brews from Chambly. You can also get yourself a high quality cheese knife while your here. The Grand Trunk is definately worth a stop if you are in Newberryport.

I come in here for cheese, they are always well stocked and knowledgeable about it. I have also found nice beers here, like fantome, and other rare european beers. This is a great place to go for good cheese on the north shore

As my parents are loyal customers of Grand Trunk, I decided to give them a call to see if they could help put together a wine and cheese gift for her birthday (I live in New York and wanted to get her something that would be easy to deliver). The service they gave me was incredible. Jeremy, the owner, offered to create a basket. I gave a max price and asked him to pick out a wine and cheese pairing within that price range. Well, to start, one of his employees insisted on calling me to make sure I knew that it was delivered successful. And did I mention that Jeremy and his wife delivered the basket themselves? In addition, when my mom called to say thank you, she told me they had added some dried fruit and cheese crackers that all paired with the wine. Everyone I spoke to was incredibly nice, thoughtful, professional and creative, and they really made the experience wonderful for both me and mom. To top it all off, they picked out a wine they thought she'd like based on her prior purchases, and she said it was one of the best whites she'd ever has.
And she's picky.
I would highly recommend my place; not only do my wine-expert parents love it, service like this is hard to find these days, and I was truly touched by the amount of time and effort they put into my request. -

Hidden jewel. My fav? Snag a brie and tomato sandwich from the refrigerator case. It's less than $5, and is absolutely delicious
