    8/26/2011 1 Check-in Here

I was referred here by a neighbor since I was needing tires, and decided to check it out.

Just on a random Saturday, mid morning 11:30am-ish...I decided to head over and check this place out. First thing I noticed was that this place was busy. Since I drove all the way over from the north OC area I still decided to go in and see if they had what I was looking for...specifically some BFG All-Terrain 285/75R16's.

Took a few minutes to get a parking spot and then went in. Then all the eye candy hit me. I am personally not a fan of big low profile type rims and am more of an off-road more rubber the better type of person but I can still appreciate some nice looking wheels...even when I am not even close to being able to afford them. So anyway once I was in the shop I had to wait a couple minutes for some other customers to pay their totals etc. While waiting inline I was kinda skeptical that this kinda place would be keeping some 33" offroad tires in stock but whatever, thought I'd wing it anyway.

Once it was my turn I walked up to the counter and was very nicely greeted by the gentleman behind the counter

..small talk "How are you Miss?"
me "Great, hopefully you might have the tires I need. How about you?"
guy "Oh pretty good. What are you looking for? Hopefully I can find what you're looking for."

So I told the guy and he of course did his little search on the computer. Let me specify though that I told him only the tire brand and size that I wanted..and at first he kinda hesitated and asked what kinda car I had so I told him that as well. AND guess what!!! He said "Oh those are the right size tire for your suv"...with this little comment I thought he must have thought I didn't know what I was talking about...but I know my stuff and I think he must have quickly gotten a glimpse of my smirk and must have known that ya can't fool me ;)

So he checked his stock and YES!!! They had exactly 4 of them woo!!! I asked the price and what the total would be. It was a little over $1,100 about $100 less than some other places I was looking at, so decided to go with them right there on the spot. Before I handed them the keys I wanted to know how long the wait was and they said about an hour cuz they had a few cars before me. I didn't see this as a problem cuz I could hang out in their little waiting area or scope out the rims while waiting. Handed them the keys and sat down. They had cable and some cool car chairs to sit on but all were full(only about 4-5 chairs though) so first decided to walk around and check out the different stuff.

Well I did this for the next 1 hour and 45 minutes. Although I didn't have anything else to did I was getting a little restless and finally went to the counter to ask how my car was doing. They said it was next. WHAT?!?! They haven't even got to it? I must admit I was a little pissed but I'll completely take on my responsibility and the fact that I was a walk-in and hadn't called ahead...just wish they could have updated me that it was going to take longer than expected...communication is key to a customer.

Once I saw my car go into the bay I must admit that although I don't usually watch the work being done but cuz I was bored I decided to go scope it out. Everything went good and it was then completely done and rolled up in about half hour and I was paying and on my way.

I have also since gone back for the free tire rotation(made sure to call ahead this time) and that only took about 20 minutes so I was happy about that. I'll definitely come back for my other sedan when it needs tires...but not for my truck because they unfortunately do not carry the brand of tires or rims that I'm looking at.

Grand Prix----thank you for bringing me from the dark side!

I had been bringing my car to the Lexus dealership until recently. Brought my IS 250 in for my 60k checkup (itself $600) and they told me I needed $6000 worth of work. That seemed absurd, I had been bringing my car there every other month for oil changes and checkups. So when I blew a tire on the freeway one day I brought it to Grand Prix out of neccesity and they put a tire on my car for...$60!!!! Insane. I paid $350 for a tire at Lexus a few months before. So I had them check what Lexus said I needed done immediately. The 2 big things:
New battery--nope, they tested it and said it was fine.
Rear brakes and rotors---had over 50% left on my breaks and rotors were completely fine! They told me I had probably 4-5 months left on my brakes. So I went back in 4 months and the brakes only cost me $165. No rotors needed still. Lexus was going to charge me over $1500 for that. Insane.

Grand prix--thank you!!!! Quick, honest, efficient. I have recommended you to many of my friends!!

Grand Prix Performance is by far the worst wheel and tire shop I have ever dealt with. Family owned or not the customer service sucks. I have given them a chance to earn my business on the last 3 sets of wheels i have purchased. If you can get someone in showroom to even give you the time of day you will see their pricing is retarded. Im getting the feeling that if you dont drive up in a 70K plus car they wont give you the time of day. Its places like this that will not last through our economy. The last 3 sets of wheels set me back over 8K combined. I did not buy any of them from GP Performance due to price being too high, or customer service. The gentleman who helped me was rude and does not know how to treat customers. I only am writing this review cause I recently gave them yet another chance to earn my business. I figured Id try through internet this time so I didnt have to deal with the same guy. They responded right away and the guy who called me was extremely nice. I explained what I needed and he said he would be in touch later that day. No response that day so I waited till the following afternoon and called to follow up. Again extremely nice said he did not have items in stock and he was waiting to talk to his boss to find out what to do. I asked if they could order and how long it would take. He replied " Im waiting to see what my manager wants me to do". I was lost wouldn't your manager suggest to order item for me? Again he said he would be in touch. It has now been 3 days and still nothing. Needless to say I am not surprised. Im assuming now that his "Manager" has got to be the same guy that runs the place. I would not advise anyone to give these guys your business. There is a million other places on same street to even waste your timehere. RIP OFF - BAD SERVICE - RUDE PEOPLE

Wow! This place just looks expensive.  We have had three really great experiences here recently.  Customer service is awesome AND...the prices are beyond competitive.  They were $90 cheaper per tire than Sterling BMW.

Referred by a friend.  I went here because I was having trouble with new tires on my Porsche that I bought at ANOTHER shop.

My experience was **exceptional** at Grand Prix.

The tires were out of round, they were improperly balanced and the wrong choice for my car (thanks H&W) after multiple visits to the store that sold them to me.  Grand Prix did everything they could to fix them instead of just trying to sell me another set.  And for an extremely fair price.  These guys really know what they're doing, are fair, and really good people.  The performance is much better now.

Smart, fair and trustworthy.  What more could you ask for??  This is where I'll send my wife and friends when they need a place to go.  No better a referral than that.....!

I, too, had seen this place several times in the past and never went in.  After a nail punctured my tire and Big O would not touch it, these guys would give it a shot.  So, instread of ponying up $400 for an elite tire replacement, these guys gave it a shot. If it does hold, not their fault, buy worth the small change to see. Its holding up fine so far!

Friendly service. Fast tire repair. Good prices.

Note: as with any tire place, inspect your rims carefully before they take it into the shop. After they went in with mine, I was advised that there was "curb grind" on the wheel and "my guys don't want to be blamed for it". I went back to see it and the tire was already removed, small area of "grind" on the rim...who knows where or when it happened...? I'll give them the benefit of doubt this time.

Could not have had a worse experience here. Brought in my Range Rover to have my tires rotated ($20 bucks), no big deal right? I have really expensive wheels ($8,000 yeah its a little overboard) so I would only go to a reputable shop. Got off to a good start when the manager said no charge. I appreciated this gesture although most shops will do this as a means to gain your patronage. After waiting a half hour the manager casually told me there was a little problem and that "no good deed goes undone". Im thinking WTF? It seemed the boneheads who work in the service area forgot to put the lug nuts back on one of my wheels prior to putting the car on the ground. Duh! This was no small
screwup but I was in a chill mood and figured they would make it right for the $2k wheel that was damaged. Making it right by fixing with manufacturer parts. Not only was the manager non-apologetic but refused to make it right and said they would only fix the wheel with a part from their lower end in-house brand which he indicated was worth $150. When I said I would not accept that he offered me $150 bucks and basically kicked me out the door. I paid $300 to have my wheel fixed correctly and never bothered to come back for the $150 as these guys were such jerks I didn't want to waste any more of my time dealing with them. What happened to the good old days of making things right for the customer? Buyer beware of going to GP Performance, you may end up regretting it!

These guys are top notch. I got a flat tire on my M5, barely could get the car down the street and borrowed a loaner wheel while I got the tire completely replaced. Top notch service, gorgeous vehicles, and all-around nice guys.

I just came from Grand Prix and bought four tires for my BMW 5 series. They had the tires in stock and the prices for four Michelin tires was the same as Costco.  They were literally done in 50 minutes, which was insanely fast compared to my past experiences elsewhere.

They are professional and friendly and get the job fast. I was recommended to Grand Prix by someone in my office and I would refer my friends and family for sure. Just go here, you won't regret it.

I needed to have four tires on loose rims dismounted in a hurry plus four boxes to ship the wheels cross country.  Grand Prix Performance had three cars on the racks but still managed to take care of my needs immediately and had me out the door in less than 30 minutes.  Everyone was helpful and friendly, the boxes were free!  I'm very happy to have passed up at least 10 other tire shops on my way to Grand Prix.  The service was flawless and the bill was less than expected.  Highly recommended.

I LOVE Grand Prix. What's not to love? You get personal, perfect service from a family owned company with prices that are seriously competitive. I am not kidding, you would think they would be expensive because they always have incredible luxury cars surrounding the shop but that is so not the case. My brother shopped them for tires and found them to be the same price as Costco. I was just so impressed with their service and attention to detail. Did I mention they made the most ridiculous custom wheels for my car? Seriously.... their son owns MINT wheels so they where able to have MINT make custom wheels for my car. Seriously impressive! I guess there is a reason they been in business since my grandfather first moved to Newport!

I went to Grand Prix Performance recently to purchase a set of new tires for my car and this place really rocks! I have driven by their shop in Costa Mesa (Newport Blvd) several times and they are always busy so I thought that I should stop in and check them out.

On the outside, their shop is huge with several service bays and numerous employees changing tires and wheels on all kinds of cars and SUV's. Inside they have the largest wheel showroom that I have ever seen with numerous wheels displayed throughout plus they have a nice customer lounge with a large flat screen TV, wi-fi and plenty of comfortable seating...

I found their staff to be very helpful while they were going over the different tire options for my car and I was pleasantly surprised that their price for Michelins was lower than what my local Costco wanted to charge so that is what I decided to purchase for my car. They had the tires in stock and told me that it would be just a little while for them to put the tires on my car.

I sat in their Customer lounge, watched a little TV, checked my emails and before I knew it they came over and told me that my car was all ready to go.

I am glad that I finally stopped in and I know that I will return to Grand Prix when I am ready to upgrade my wheels! They made me feel right at home and my tires are perfect.

Grand Prix Performance has outstanding customer service.  I'm a girly girl who can think of a million things I'd rather do than get my car worked on or serviced.  This family owned business is exactly how things should be done.  They think of everything as if they are the customer.  **P.S.  The dad is so cute with his dog at the shop...and they have free Wi-Fi so you can Facebook, read blogs,  or work while you wait.  It's important to support locals in the community.  I love the Palanjians and the service they provide at Grand Prix.

We have been going to Grand Prix for years for our tires.  They are always honest and willing to match any price ... including Costco!  I was there yesterday with an alignment problem on one of our cars.  They were able to look at it immediately and didn't charge me to fix it.  We love that it is a family run business and you always see the same faces when you go in.  They want to keep you as a customer and go above and beyond to keep you happy.  Thank you Grand Prix for being an honest and ethical shop in the automotive industry!
