12 reviews for Grand Hyatt
We nabbed our room for a great rate on Priceline and the Grand Hyatt was worth it. It's a nice hotel, certainly not over-the-top luxurious, but definitely a few steps above the Holiday Inn.
The location is perfect; we just wanted a place to crash after a drunken birthday celebration and being located downtown, it was easy to stumble back from the bars.
I am PICKY about hotel rooms, and this one was perfectly clean, with comfy beds and modern decor.
Parking ended up only being $3...don't know how we did THAT.
My only gripe is with room service. After all that drinking, we were hungry and decided to forego the wait at the Denver Diner for something a little closer to "home." So we call room service. Multiple times, with no answer. There's a menu in front of us that clearly states "Late Night Menu, until 5 AM." I don't know if it was actually 5, but it was much later than when we were calling. So we call the front desk who says they will get room service to call us. 5 minutes later they do, and we try to place our order, only to find out they are out of absolutely everything on the menu besides turkey sandwiches! How does this happen? They also had sliders, but not enough for a full order. We ordered some turkey sandwiches cause damn, we were starving.
And waited.
And waited.
Finally, after an hour and a half (seriously, how long does it take to make a turkey sandwich?) BF went downstairs to see what was up (cause they're still not answering the phone) and ended up cancelling the order. It showed up five minutes later with a $60 bill. NO WAY. After a little bit of bitching, they ended up comping the food, which is why this review still gives four stars. The order also included a cheeseburger, which redeemed them quite a bit.
The front desk staff was incredibly accommodating and even comped our internet charge in order to make up for the room service gaffe.
Despite the late night hassle, I'd still be back. But I'm sure not ordering room service.
While definitely not the nicest Hyatt I've stayed at recently, this place has a lot of positives. It's very close to 16th street, pretty much the main dining/entertainment vein of Denver. The service was exceptional. I was on a early flight and was really tired and they let me check in at 9:30 am. The room was "older" but clean.

Unflushed Defecation Central describes the lobby men's room. It was, to say the least, a nauseating disaster, and strewn with paper towels on the floor with overflowing garbage cans.
Why did I stay?
This hotel boasts, rightly, a superb jazz pianist, Mark Pressey, who plays most nights at their fireside lounge (see review above). I went to see him, ordered one cocktail and got a $13 bill. No wonder I was the only one in the lounge. Then I left.
A farce.

Pretty nice place. HOtel staff are nice and the place is clean. We had a great view of Denver from our 24th floor view. I don't suggest this place if you intend to get drunk, very confusing building.
The bad things about it is you have to park in a seperate building, and pay for parking! (booo) Also, the mini bar is reallllly expensive. $7.00 for half a shot of jack daniels.. please. Also the water bottles in the bathroom are $4.50! Yikes. Deposit is also $100.
Overal, it's a nice hotel. Very comfy bed. Also has a pool!

The hotel itself is quite nice. It's neat and clean and the decor is simple. Done in neutral tones and gender friendly, there's nothing ornate about it. The doormen are personable and the housekeeping staff is efficient (I had concierge level service and the housekeepers would come by to turn my bed down before I even left for dinner. I had to wonder if they were turning it down for a nap or for the night!)
My company held a meeting here. I wasn't impressed with the front desk or the event planner. The front desk misplaced a fax that was sent from my office. They located it more than 12 hours later and wanted to charge $11 for it. They also failed to notify my boss of a FedEx package that had been delivered to her attention. When she inquired about it, it took three computers and about 15 minutes for them to locate it. The event planner reviewed our BEO specs with me on paper but never actually showed me where all our meeting rooms were located, leaving me to figure it out for myself. He wasn't completely awful but he wasn't fabulous either. For the most part, his team did do a pretty good job of setting the rooms up the way we had requested and the banquet staff did a good job with all the food.
Several staff members suffer from poor morale One young man went so far as to tell my friend and I that "they are idiots." I'm not sure if he was referring to his immediate supervisor, the hotel management or someone in between but it was definitely unprofessional.

Add me to the list of celebrities that the previous review mentioned. (Har har...just kidding. I crack myself up.)
Had a great experience at the Grand Hyatt. GREAT location...within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. Parking/valet is a rip at $26/day, but there are cheap parking options galore in the immediate area if you have a car. Our parking ended up costing less than $20 for the entire 3-day weekend in one of the close lots (we could see our car from our window).
The beds are comfy and they have nice, fresh linens. No complaints at all about the room. (I was just irritated that I requested a king room and when I checked in they tried to sell me on a king room on their club level for $35/night extra. They said that was the only king room they had available. Whatever.)
They employees were helpful with all the things we needed. The fitness center was state-of-the-art. We had room service and it came in a timely manner and it was super yummy.
The only other irritation I had was that the gift shop and business center were closed on Labor Day because of the holiday. I had an urgent purchase to make at the gift shop and was very thrown off to find it closed on a Monday morning. I know it's a holiday, but it is a hotel gift shop! There were no drug stores in the immediate area...I ended up hoofing it over to the Marriott over on California and using their gift shop (which was OPEN! Get with the program, Hyatt!). Then later, I needed to double-check my e-mail for the confirmation number on my flight so I could do online check-in, but the business center was closed. Very inconvenient for such a big, busy hotel. Oh well. I still made it home okay.
The room was very nice and it did have a good view of Denver. It is in a great location, walking distance to the convention center and 16th st shopping. The front desk staff was hit or miss with being helpful. Our rooms were not ready upon arrival and we were told they would call us when they were and they never did call. We also had an issue with the breakfast buffet. One day service was very slow and the next it was fine. The food was bland so I would suggest eating somewhere else. Overall average hotel, would probably try a different hotel next time.
We are also Priceline believers and got a shot at the Grand Hyatt Denver for $75. It's conveniently located near the 16th Street Mall and, of course, it's a nice hotel. However, they look for all kinds of ways to bend you over and take advantage. Examples: charging you $10 per computer per day for internet and charging you $26 dollars for 24 hour parking. If you go to the Broadway Plaza Motel, you won't have to deal with that... you'll just have to listen to the Gang Unit of the Police Department hustle the party people out of the local hip hop club across the street. Those were the two worlds we lived in while visiting Denver...

So I have stayed around in many different hotels around Colorado. This has got to be the second to worse place that I have set foot in. The check-in process was interesting. I saw about 4-5 clerks standing behind the counter. Apparently the one I chose to walk up to happened to be a smartass along with his buddy next to him. I am pretty dry with my humor but this was just plain idiotic. Had I known this was a sign of things to come, I would've just paid for one night and went to the Regency down Welton. After my friend and I got settled in the room, we went downstairs. Getting my car was a ten to twenty minute ordeal each time. Even when I called downstairs to have my car ready, it was never ready. One day, they even said they lost my car and then ran back down the garage to retrieve it. The guys downstairs were either chatting with each other while ignoring customers or playing solitaire on the computer. The second to last night I was there, I went downstairs to get the car. They said they couldn't find the key. I was staring right at it and I had to point it out on their board in the back of the office. At the end of the trip, this place was definitely NOT worth what I paid nor would I ever go back. The last night my friend and I were there, we had a couple friends from Denver come back to the hotel with us to have a few drinks. We originally went to the lounge in the front of the hotel as we saw a couple people sitting around. We went up to the bar and the bartender said he was already closed. I thought ok, we'll just go around to the hotel bar then. No more than thirty seconds later, three ladies walked up to him and he gladly served them drinks. I exchanged some emails with the person responsible for customer loyalty and received no apology, just some points as if I would go back and stay there. So even though I had fun in Denver on that trip, I would never go back to the Grand Hyatt. On the other hand, the Hyatt Regency that is located at Welton and 15th Street will give you service like night and day compared to the Grand Hyatt.

The Denver Grand Hyatt hotel is smack-dab in the middle of downtown (you can't ask for a better location), and despite the fact it's a chain, it's a really terrific place to stay, especially if you have kids. The slew of amenities includes a 24-hour fitness center, an indoor pool, a rooftop whirlpool and an outdoor tennis court. The in-house restaurant is surprisingly good (the burger, especially so), there's a fireside lounge trumpeting ivory tickler Mark Pressey, who is one of the most amazing pianists I've every heard. Suffice it to say that his song repertoire is unparalleled, as is his talent. The customer service here is amazingly gracious, with a genuine aim to please. My only gripes are the astronomically high valet parking prices and the fact that Internet access is not complimentary.

I like it! This is one of the best chain hotels I've ever stayed in. I'm currently here on business, and not only are the rooms nice, clean, and comfortable, but the staff is the friendliest I've come across anywhere. I have a lovely view of downtown Denver. I'm very impressed with everything here and will definitely come back the next time I'm in Denver.

So one of my stops around Colorado was Denver, and I selected this hotel because it was so new (it is less than a year old). So the only negative about this hotel is that you have to pay for parking (but of course that is how it is with all city hotels) $21 for self park of $25 for valet. The hotel is HUGE! and right next to the convention center. the rooms are very clean and a good size and I had a beautiful view of the ctiy! The hotel also has a restaurant, coffee shop, fitness center, pool, outdoor hot tub, sauna, etc. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant downstairs has a nice breakfast buffet too. I would definently recommend this place for business travelers.
