Grand City - CLOSED
5 reviews for Grand City - CLOSED
4 stars for having what I needed in walking distance.
Like Dan said, it's a TOTAL throw back. For real.
It has the candy that you scoop and gets weighed. YUM!
and odd crafts supplies that I think women of an older generation can find quite handy, however, they helped me totally rock a few art projects so I can't complain. Like really, I never see wooden dowels like anywhere. I'm probably not looking, but whatever.
I never tried the restaurant out, I was too scared to, but I've seen plenty of people eating there so I'm sure it's fine...
Im just rating the cafe. IN NO WAY does the breakfast taste like greasy cardboard. I challenge anyone to find a cheaper, better tasting breakfast. Two sausages, one egg any way, home fries and a GRILLED english muffin for under 3 bucks??? and coffee for under 1 buck?? This place is fabulous, used to come ehre for breakfast almost weekly because of the price. You get what you pay for. Edible fresh made food for chump change?? I miss this place.
I love this store! Like some other shops in town, Grand City is a throw back to the 1950s-60s era Main Street USA. A staple fixture in Brunswick since I was wee troublemaker, GC is an everything warehouse, from cheap kid's clothes (my Mom used to buy my Toughskins there) to ice-scrapers. But the best part of the store is not the store per se, it's the internal restaurant! Think old school diner with fluorescent lighting overhead and women's blouses in the background. Complete with veneer booths and vinyl seats, a full breakfast can be had for under $4! I recall it all tastes sorta like greasy cardboard, but well worth the experience. Hurry, before Starbucks moves in and the Grand City era is gone forever!
I know there is a certain retro appeal, but everytime I ever went in, I was always creeped out. Although, you can buy pretty much everything including the kitchen sink.
This store is a blast from the past. Walk back into the 50's or 60's into a store owned by it's workers!! The merchandise is 'down home' as are the prices. Need new socks? Find them here for a dollar a pair!! I am a photographer who likes to frame her images in a very understated black frame. Find them here at a price that won't send you round the bend!! I'm just sorry to say that this store is closing....if it isn't already closed. Where oh, where will I shop for my comfort jeans now?
