12 reviews for Grand China Restaurant
Yeah, I'll confirm the previous one-star upgrade. After a Junior League event Thursday night (that didn't involve dinner and lasted past 10!), I stopped by for carryout on my way home.
Recently inspired by my ability to turn pot stickers into soup (something I cheffed up the other day with what I didn't eat the first round from a Lee's delivery order!), and feeling weather-inspired for egg drop soup that night . . . I decided a revisit to GC was in order. Good call.
Love their "crunchy" things with the soup; the soup was again tasty and, while I really like Lee's as it's a little "lighter," this night I would have been too tired to pick the tofu pieces out of their version. I also went for something new-to-me . . . the Beef with asparagus. I'm usually really wary of all sauces (whatever the cuisine) so this felt like going out on a limb. But it was good! One note: the menu doesn't reveal this, but the "beef with asparagus" (you can also get chicken or pork, and the dish is just listed as "beef, chicken or pork with asparagus") also has a little watercress and carrots in the mix. There was lots of asparagus (definitely the "primary" veggie) but I reallllly don't like cooked carrots, so when I got home I had to do some, er, rearranging of the dish. Just a side note, so you'll know!
Also, I got a small side of fried rice in addition to the steamed rice that came with the beef entree . . . kinda disappointing, probably wouldn't order it again. May try to "chef it up" with something at home since I'm trying to be more cook-y, but found it very bland and not nearly as good as Lee's (plain) fried rice.
Might make some soup with those leftover pot stickers today . . .

A one-star upgrade!
It's strange: I've never been a big Chinese delivery lover but recently I seem to… Read more »
The food is disgusting. You could get better Singaporean Noodles/Stir-Fried Noodles from Lean Cuisine or some sort of Frozen Food Variety. The quality was sub-par and extremely greasy! I was expecting something magnificent because my ex-coworker boasted about it being in business for 20 something years. Yuck, and I cannot believe I fell for it. Everything was disgusting because the quality of food and handling was horrible. I had the lunch special with Hot and Sour soup, spring roll, and the main entree Singaporean Noodles. I would never come back here AGAIN! I think I paid 12 dollars for the entirety of the shitty ass meal. I should have listened to my instinct given the location of the place! It's expensive and has poor quality food.
I dont get what all the fuss is about.
I' usually do delivery and its always the same only moderately decent food and bad service. Im not sure why I keep trying them, maybe its because Im trying to understand what I keep missing according to others reviews, but in my opinion the only thing really missing is Flavor since their food is usually bland or "smeh" .
This is the best Chinese food I have eaten outside of China and south of New York.
Everything I have tried I loved and the owners work in the restaurant daily, not just greeting people, but bringing out orders, too.
They are very personable and chat with me while I wait for take out.
Eating in is more fun if you are not alone, but it is nice to come and eat a peaceful lunch with a book.
While exploring the city the other night, I drove past a Chinese restaurant that looked promising. I promised myself that the next Chinese meal I had would be from there, and proceeded to dream about Chinese food until I couldn't take it anymore and headed there for dinner last night with my friend. We were a little concerned at first because there were few people inside, and all of them were senior citizens. The hostess sat us promptly and I was pleased to see that the menu contained Thai, Japanese, and Chinese cuisine. There was a lot to choose from, but I finally settled on Mongolian beef and some wonton soup. My friend selected sweet and sour chicken.
The soup had good flavor, although the wontons were a little too salty--it caused the waiter to have to come over and refill my water quite a few times throughout dinner. The meal came out within 15 minutes and smelled delicious. My friend was a little disappointed that there was not more rice, but I must say that they offered us more when they saw she had inhaled her portion.
My Mongolian beef was very good. The meat and onions had a wonderful flavor. I tried a piece of the sweet and sour chicken, and that was good as well. I did use the sweet and sour sauce over the remainder of my rice at the end of the meal, and there was some sort of strange aftertaste--I have never done it before, so perhaps that's the norm...although I hope not, because I had to take another bite of my beef so that wouldn't be the last thing I had.
All in all, it was a pleasant experience and quite a relief to find a good Chinese restaurant within a couple miles of my place. My beef was $11 and the soup was $2, so I feel it was a fair deal.
Now, if my fortune was correct, I should be coming into some money soon. If this review has inspired you, or if you're the owner of this restaurant and you appreciate the good assessment, feel free to drop me a line and I'll let you know where to mail the check!
Eh, this is my "if I'm at work I'll eat this" Chinese. Because it's close to the office ya know? But I'd never venture out of my way to eat here. It's good for quick Americanized Chinese. You know what I mean? Sesame chicken, Kung Pao, Sweet & Sour, Mongolian Beef. You get the drift.
I've had something called Buddah's Delight which is basically a bunch of stir fried veggies, its a pretty good option on the days I don't feel like being a carnivore. And then on the days I do, I usually go with the Mongolian Beef or Sesame Chicken. Both are solid, if you go in here with REASONABLE expectations of how good your meal will actually be.
Oh and they have a teeeeeny tiny parking lot, so beware of that.
My go to selection for Chinese take out when I found myself working 80 hour weeks at my job after a round of company layoffs. I was too tired to cook in the evenings, and Grand China was on the way home from work.
It's not the best Chinese food, but it's a step up from food courts, buffets, and hole in the wall take out joints. They've got a mammoth sized menu, it seems like they keep adding items to it and different styles of cuisines as time goes by. I'm not a big fan of Chinese restaurants that add Thai and Japanese items to the menu for the sake of having them...if you ever try Grand China stick to the chef specials and the Chinese food, it's your best option (the mussels with black bean sauce are pretty tasty).
Never eaten in the restaurant but do get delivery and it is always very fast and the food is excellent. Big portions and always hot and tasty. Sometimes it seems like they are knocking at the door right after I hang up the phone. Very good and I recommend it for delivery.
Didnt enjoy the meal - nor service..
I did order pork dim sum which was quite ok. but otherwise, nothing to 'write home about'....
A friend took me here for dinner once and I was more than happy with what I had. I have been looking for good Chinese in Atlanta for what seems like forever and although I don't think this place takes top honors, it was good. My friend had duck and it was good. It was actually my first time having it when we went.
He drove and for some reason I can't recall where we parked, but I know there isn't a lot out front. I'd say search around back and you may need to be prepared to park off of Pharr Road and walk.
We travel a lot and are always looking for good delivery places when we aren't in the mood to go out for dinner. We love finding a good Chinese delivery! Grand China is delicious. The menu features Chinese, Thai and Japanese....something for everyone. The food arrived quickly and piping hot. The pork buns were tasty, although we are accustomed to BBQ pork buns which these are not. Lots of meat and a nice soft, fluffy steamed bun. The chicken chop suey was excellent. I have been craving good, fresh chop suey for ages and it really fit the bill. The ingredients were flavorful with just the right crispness and a perfect amount of sauce....not swimming in it and not dry. The kung pao was nicely chopped with a few large carrots and an equal amount of meat to peanuts. I wish we would've ordered hot, but we ordered medium not knowing how spicy it would be. We also tried the garlic broccoli which was fresh, crisp and oh so garlicky. Mmmmmm. And last but not least, the steamed dumplings were terrific. Lots of meat inside. Mmmmmmmmm!
This is decent Chinese food. I like the sesame chicken and general chicken. I've only been for lunch and the service is friendly and talkative. I eat there while at work but I would not drive to Atlanta just to eat there. Oh- and they have brown rice- that's hard to find at Chinese reaturants. I guess my vote would really be 3 1/2 stars for the brown rice.
