Today I had my first Irish breakfast ever after a night of heavy drinking. My girlfriend had corned beef hash and eggs. It was delivered hot and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I LOVE sausage and for that reason I LOVED the Irish breakfast. I can feel a new tradition of ordering from here starting.

If you are ever in Maspeth and would like to enjoy a nice Irish breakfast then Grand and Remsen is the perfect diner for you. Located as the name says on Grand and Remsen and is always packed because the food is good and service is speedy.  They also offer sandwiches and Gyros but their Irish breakfast is quite popular because Maspeth has a large Irish community. The breakfast comes with toast, eggs sunny side up, a side of baked beans, blood sausage, bacon, ham and a fried tomato. An enjoyable dining experience.

Grand and Remsen has recently acquired new ownership, and it's horrible. I ordered a turkey club and the turkey was pre-packaged, dry and green. Turkey should never ever be green. I chose not to eat the turkey, but I ate the rest of the sandwich (it had already been made and I don't like seeing food go to waste). I figured how bad could white toast, mayonnaise, tomato, and lettuce possibly be? The next day? Food poisoning. In the bathroom for 3 hours trying to figure out what I had eaten that day, the Grand and Remsen sandwich was the only thing out of my normal eating habits. Very unpleasant.
On top of the spoiled food or whatever went wrong, the atmosphere was eerily empty and the service still wasn't good. The server never came back to my table to ask me how things were.
I'm glad now that I tipped poorly.
If you're in the neighborhood and are looking for a quick bite, don't go to Grand and Remsen. Go to Ridgewood Eats, Fame Diner, or Rosa's Pizza. Just avoid this place.
