Hello;
My husband and I just moved to Vayaa-oh from out of state, and discovered Gracie's. Wow, what a discovery. It tastes like everything is made from scratch- just good home cooking. We sometimes stop in on our way to work- the kitchen is humming, the Chef and wait staff are humming songs to themselves, the place smells divine, there are biscuits in the oven- just like it was back at Grandma's back in the day!
Then I find out in the Summer and fall, live music ( from Blues to Singer Songwriter to Bluegrass to Jazz - maybe even some world music this year(!!) )
and Barb q's take place here on the patio!
Fantastic!
Let's help make this beautiful little city by the water a new haven for food, culture , music and the Arts. A working Person's Sausalito...
so much Opportunity to help re shape and re-invent Vallejo.
And Gracie's is helping inspire me with new visions about what Vallejo Could be, not what it was.
I would say come out and support Main Street, come meet your neighbors, or some new friends, bring the kids
especially when the quality is this good.

This is one of those places that you absolutely have to check out. Growing up in vallejo we used to always get our Gracies fix at the stand they had on springs rd. This was the first time since I've been away at college, that I actually went in and checked out the actual building and sat for lunch service. It was actually kinda funny because a guy that I went to high school with was a server on staff there, Kevin.
I ordered the grilled chicken breast half order and damn was it good. The chicken breast was juicy and my sides were potato salad and rice and beans, with a nice big piece of warm cornbread, which I happily put butter and honey on and chowed down. Some of the other interesting items on the menu included a BLT and a Tri-Tip Salad, both of which I'm thinking are going to be on my personal menu the next time I decide to hit up gracies in Vallejo, CA.
Take a trip to the south, kick back with some sweet tea and chow down on some real southern inspired bbq and sides. This place is amazing. I don't even care about the service, which was so-so, because the food was enough to keep me coming back. -

I found good BBQ in Vallejo!
Another notch for Yelp app search of local restaurants! Yelp app helped me find this joint after a crave-driven search for "BBQ Nearby". I ordered a full order (slab) of baby back ribs with two sides, rice and beans and potato salad, and a Louisiana Hot Link. I really liked how the ribs were cleanly sliced but no separated. The meat was deliciously smoked and tender. Extra sauce ensures a bbq-cheeks smile from ear to ear. A hit!
The beans and rice and cornbread were just OK. The potato salad has black olives in it and I don't like black olives but I ended up finishing it. It was different but in a good way. The sides were a little small but good, I'll try different ones next time.
I had a beer served in a chilled mason jar, that's dirty south!
If you're looking for some good stuff, check out Gracie's!
There's a small parking lot in the back. -

Went in today for a To-Go menu, since their web site is down. I was told all the To-Go menus are gone. I asked for a regular menu and that I will bring it back to them when I pick up the order tomorrow. They said no. Oh well, I will not be doing business with them ever again.

I would consider myself a regular here. Gotta be one of the best biscuits and gravy dishes in the Bay Area. They scratch bake their biscuits and create a multi meat gravy that is excellent. The crispy breakfast potatoes round it out.
My kids are a fan of the pancakes. Just enough corn meal in them to give that old fashioned flavor.
Still a fan of the meat salads, but have recently been very pleased with the tri-tip sandwiches on a jalapeno cheddar role.
The owners exemplify what is good in Vallejo. Local, involved, offering a solid family style product. Service has improved as has the neighborhood.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Love your food and the friendly atmosphere. Melissa is a great waitress and I love how efficient and attentive she is.
I tend to lean towards your salads and sandwiches mostly, but hubs always gets the ribs, chicken & links. We all lean towards the swamp juice. I rarely drink my calories but that's something worth indulging on.
My only complaint is that your website is down and you don't have any take out menus for me to use at home, and the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I don't like having to wait on a take out order because I had to view the menu in person. I know, that sounds lame but we're all in a hurry these days.
Please fix your website and soon. -

When they say, the links are hot...they mean it!!!
I have eaten in and dined out. Always good, consistent food and good service as well. I was driving down Sonoma the other day and the thought of cornbread, beans, macaroni salad and chicken called my name... I wonder why.
Great stuff and you must have some swamp juice =) -

I placed a togo Family order yesterday. They said ready in 10 minutes. I came in 15minutes. I waited 20 minutes there more. No offer for beer, drink, or a rib while waiting. I assumed the wait was worth it. It wasn't. The ribs actually need sauce now-I think the people cooking now didn't even put any rub or wood chips in smoker. The chicken is actually 4 cut pieces and not 4 whole leg quarters it was 2 months ago. The red beans and rice weren't as good as before - even Popeye's is better. Their potato salad seems homemade and good. Their green beans and corn bread are still awesome. All in all.........the meat was skimped as far as portions, quality, and flavor. But I'm hoping that was just that day...........They should of at least offered a drink for my long wait. The new cooks need supervising and how to prepare the meat unless the lacking flavor is the new way.

Ok let's get this straight. This is not NOT a BBQ place! Just because you pour BBQ sauce on something does not make it BBQ. I don't like to give bad feed back on places because I am concerned they will eventually go out of business and people will be unemployed but they need to get their act together.
We ordered a full rack of Baby back ribs and a hot link. 20 bucks. That's OK but 5 small ribs makes a full rack in their minds? Not on this planet! I got the pasta salad and red beans and rice for the sides. Tasty but minuscule amounts. I would say 3 tablespoons. Take my money but you have to give something in return. We also got the GRILLED chicken. with BBQ sauce. Well it's not really grilled. It's Precooked and then they pop it on the grill to warm it up. If that's grilled then I must be from a different planet. Now onto the Cherry pie. The filling is the canned type fillings you use in I think donuts. You would be hard pressed finding a CHERRY! The Crust was tasty but don't Pee on my leg and tell me it's raining! I will go back when I start collecting SS checks. -

As much as I despise this side of town, the swamp juice will SUCK you in!
No problems finding parking at all. The waitress greeted us as soon as we walked through the doors. The first thing I noticed was the outdoor patio. You can choose to sit indoors or outside.
I ordered the full smoked chicken combo plate which comes with cornbread, butter, and two sides. I chose the potato and pasta salad. And of course, the swamp juice (sweet tea and lemonade)! Whoever created this concoction is a genius!
The meal is served in larged portions, just enough to feed two people and a one year old! And to top it all off, NEVERENDING SWAMP JUICE! Cheers to free refills!
Love the bbq sauce. I personally like it more than Kinders.
There's nothing more to say about Gracies. The food is good, the prices are reasonable, and my cup was always full. Great restaurant! -

Just when you thought it couldn't get better it did! My cousin was ranting and raving about the breakfast here so we decided to give it a try after a long walk along the waterfront. I ordered the lumber jack scramble and it was GOOD! The biscuit oh the biscuit was everything I had ever dreamed of, light, buttery, flaky and oh so tasty with butter and honey. The potatoes were also very good. I did not try the french toast that my nephew ordered but it was a pretty awesome size for the kids menu item. I was so sprung on this place we went back the next day and again I devoured my biscuit along with a side of veggie omelet. Super yummy, hearty and filling, this is my new go to spot for bfast in the V. Shout out to my son, he slept the whole time there and let us enjoy our delicious bfast!
P.S. ask for a side of the green chili hot sauce, perfect spicy compliment for eggs and potatoes3 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Vallejo, CA
A bit more expensive then other breakfast places in town but the place is nice (despite the menus being a bit ragged around the edges) and the waitress was friendly. The 10% discount for yelpers helped get me in the door and once in the smells from the kitchen kept me glued to my seat.
The walls inside are painted a sunny color that my wife the painter informs me is called 'Goldenrod or Marigold.' In any case it works with the nuetral grey flooring and white trim. it's well lit but not overly bright.
I ordered the special for the day, a roasted chicken omelet with spinach and fresh tomato, and the lady ordered biscuits and gravy and a side of sweet potato fries. I substituted fench toast instead of regular toast which added $2.50 to my plate.
The food arrived surprisingly fast and was really really good. The hashbrowns were light and perfectly cooked, the french toast was exactly what I'd been after, and my omelet was dead on amazing. The sweet potato fries were also really good - light and crisp on the edges but soft and sweet inside. I didn't try the lady's biscuits and gravy but she said those were great too.
I'm a fan, Gracie's is gong on my shortlist for breakfast places in Vallejo. -

After a long days spent at Six Flags with no food, we went here to satisfy our BBQ craving. It's located on a corner and looks as if it were built from a house. The dining area is very homey, yet still resembling a restaurant. There were two compartments one the inside of the home itself turned into a restaurant, the other, the backyard.
The food was wonderful, very tender meats & the teas are excellent. I recommend the ribs definitely. The crossiant sandwiches were also on point! I shared two entrees btwn two people and was stuffed! And we had leftovers! And I usually eat a lot! So for sure one entree will fill you up. Each entree comes with two sides and there are a large variety of sides available - the green beans, thumbs up.
Last but not least the service was extremely friendly. The waiter helped us choose our sides and explained each order very specifically and was very patient. Overall a very nice restaurant. If I'm ever in the area again you can count me in on some Gracie's -

I have had BBQ from this place several times when they have catered for us at work, but finally made it out for the first time to actually eat in their restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised! It was a nice day, so we were able to eat outside in their covered patio area.
I ordered their Bowtie Chicken Salad which is super yummy! I would order it again, but l look forward to going back to try many other things that sound good on their menu.
Location is convenient with lots of parking on the street. I am a fan of their food, but have to say that they can improve on their customer service a bit. One in particular seemed to not want to be there. Overall my experience was good. I will be back! -

Wow on so many levels. Wow on the portions, they were large -- even the drinks. Wow on the prices -- they were inexpensive, at least relatively to some other top-notch BBQ places. And wow on the food, it was fantastic.
We had:
- Smoked chicken legs and tri-tip combination plate, with cornbread, rice/beans and coleslaw ($15.95)
- Mini Cobb Salad ($4.95)
- Sweet Tea ($2.50)
All of them were awesome, and plenty to split with two people (we had leftovers). I'll definitely be back, it's been tough to find good restaurants in Vallejo, and I'm shocked it took me a year to discover Gracie's. I'll be back soon for more. -

Food here is amazing. When I had moved away from Vallejo for a few years, I would get cravings for Gracie's on the regular. The BBQ, cornbread, and any sandwiches on their very own croissants (they tend to be in very limited supply so I tend to call and see if they have any first) are great! I've also fallen in love with the way they make their strawberry lemonade (lemonade with strawberry puree). All the drinks are in mason jars and the portions are huge which makes it all feel like a family backyard bbq.
Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. -

Ok so this place is ok but its NOT a 5 star resturant and i would have gave them 3 stars but i noticed everyone was over rating it so to even it out im going to under Rate it at 2 stars..If the place had more realistic reviews i would have rated it 3 stars..
Ok now for the food .....Yes it takes good.....does it taste great?? id say no not great just good......... Price is TOO HIGH if it was cheaper then id say the food taste great but for the price its only good not great.....
If they would just make the prices more reasonable id be willing to eat here more but im not paying over 10 bucks for a small roast beef sandwhich with a tiny side of potato salad.....REALLY?? come on you can alteast give out a BIG side of potato for the price your charging.....
all in all im not very impressed at all.... -

Hubby and I come here frequently when we're too lazy to cook on the weekdays. I'll normally call in half orders of either BBQ ribs or chicken ($9-$17) and/or their tri-tip sandwich ($11). Their full orders are on the expensive side but then again the portions are fairly decent.
BABY BACK RIBS...Really good, tender and very flavorful. One of my faves. Messy of course but they're ribs... they're supposed to be all over the place (another reason why we eat it a home)
CHICKEN... OK. I say okay only because the last time I ordered it, it was a little drier than normal not to say it wasn't good, I can just taste the difference
TRI-TIP SANDWICH... My fave! Something about this sandwich keeps me coming back. The meat is just so good and these aren't thin slices either, they're pretty chunky. The bread (french) is SO soft. I always have them add a slice of jack cheese, which makes the sandwich that much better.
All these entrees come with your choices of sides. Hubby and I like the beans and rice, potato salad and corn bread. Plus their BBQ sauce is really good and tasty. Gracie's is a MUST-TRY. -

My fiance and I dropped in and ordered to go. The server was friendly took our order and we took a seat.... about fifteen- twenty minutes went by and we were still waiting. The server checked to see what was taking so long and they seemed to have forgotten our order! He apologized and the kitchen got to cooking. It took another ten to fifteen before our food came out. We got home, opened the to go box and was disappointed. That is a lot of money for not much food. Food was ok but I've made better. When fifty bucks feels like five dollars to me, I'll be back. Until then, way too pricey for the amount of food given.

What a delicious jewel in the depressing taint that is Vallejo!
The portions were great, the food delicious, the service wonderful. It's really hard to find really good, distinct BBQ joints in the Bay Area and this does the job!
It's okay to leave the bulletproof vests at home, the facility is nice and really deserves better than to be in Vallejo. They're currently construction going on but the area seemed "alright". Parking was fairly easy. Keep your valuables hidden and walk with purpose and you'll be fine. Hopefully. -

I don't eat a lot of meat so maybe this is a bit biased. When I do go to a place like this though, there should be a pulled pork sandwich. They had about every other kind of pork on the menu but no pulled pork. There wasn't anything that didn't come with an insane amount of meat. Would some fake meat kill you guys i.e. a veggie burger?
The green beans were drowning in butter. I mean, it was pretty much butter soup with a few green beans thrown in.
The service was pretty bad, despite there only being about 4-5 groups in the restaurant and two servers. I asked for green beans and got red beans and rice. I had to get up twice to get the server's attention.
No beer on tap? Come on.
Also, this pretty much seems to be the norm in Vallejo but I'll throw it out there anyway. How come everyone still uses styrofoam containers for all takeout bags? Much better, sustainable alternatives exist. -

Came here for a big group birthday. it was yummy and heavy :) barbeque goodness. also their sandwiches are goooood too. some friends did the family style meats/sides/feast. when we were leaving, it didn't look like they even make a dent on that pile of meat.

I really like their salads and sides! you have to get the tri-tip. the ribs aren't too impressive to me because they seem really dry. I'm used to having phil's bbq (san diego) every other week and I think I'm just used to ribs being soft and "melting off the bones."
their cornbread and chili is good. -
Review from Kerrie L.

Hands down the best barbecue I've ever had, if not for the authenticity (I suppose that's debatable?), but for the sheer size of the portions, and the flavor of course.
Our go-to has become the sampler (? I couldn't find a link to the real name of it...it's the smallest "family" combo dinner). For two people:
- 2 huge chicken thighs (I usually think chicken is the most boring choice you can get, but this chicken is juicy and wonderful and my favorite part of the meal)
- 2 huge drumsticks (see above)
- 2 huge links (hawt seeing the bf get into his spicy weiners)...wait, there might actually be 4
- countless ribs (fall-off-the-bone tender...I can eat them with a knife and fork without wasting meat, which means a lot to me if you know me)
- 4 huge squares of cornbread
- a bowl of beans and rice
- 4 sides: green beans that remind me of when I was a kid, potato salad, slaw, and macaroni salad
We have big-ass appetites, and we've only been able to finish this meal in one sitting once. Such a bad idea. *poo* But really, this meal should last a long time.
- boxed up leftovers come with to-go cups of their barbecue sauce
Gracie's is the best thing about living in the East Bay, and the *only* good thing about living in Vallejo...in my opinion...I did live there for 3 (dare I say miserable?) years. And it is absolutely worth the 31.9 miles / 42 minutes (1 hr 20 min in traffic) / $5 in bridge tolls from SF. Wait...$5 each way!
Run! Don't walk! Go now before they close tonight! -
Review from Anh Thu P.

My family and I were super hungry after a nice day at Six Flags, so we yelped this bbq place and was pleasantly surprised! We assumed that it would be some sort of hole in the wall, but the seating area was actually really nice. The outdoor seating was very homey and felt like a very urban bbq joint. The only janky part was that in order to get to the bathroom, you have to walk through the kitchen. And I mean, through the kitchen where you see everyone cook and wash dishes. Not to mention that there is only one uni-sex restroom!
Anyway, my brother ordered the full order of spare ribs and half order of the tri-tip and chicken. As for the bf and I, we got the full order of spare ribs and chicken and I got the club croissant. The spare ribs were the best thing on the table by far. They were really juicy and broke apart easily. The chicken was the worst, they were dry and lacked any real flavor. As for my club croissant, it was chicken, bacon, tomato, lettuce on a croissant and it was super hearty. For only $10, their sandwich made me sooo full and it comes with a side. We basically shared all our sides which were, buttered green beans, pesto pasta salad, macaroni salad, and potato salad. I have to admit that the pasta salad was the best since all the others became really sickening after a while. And the cornbread wasn't light or fluffy nor hot. So it was just a big blob of carbs on the side. I would definitely come here again now that I know what to order, but the experience itself was just mediocre. -

Love coming to this place, whenever I get a chance to get into Vallejo this is my #1 stop. I've always had great food and service here. My favorite is the tri-tip and chicken plater, so DELICIOUS!! I love my sweet tea in the mugs, just how I found it in Texas! Corn bread is ok, nothing to rave about but honestly, who comes here for the corn bread, the star is the BBQ and it doesn't get better than Gracie's!

You will walk out satisfied, no matter what you order. Portions here are hearty and large. Came here with a big group of people, so we all got to try a lot of different dishes, and it was a real treat for real. Yes, i just used "real" twice in once sentence.
I love chili; I try to order it anytime I see it on any menu anywhere, so I can compare. The chili here is classic and delicious. It's not anything crazy unique, but it sure does taste like straight up delicious homestyle chili.
The outdoor patio is really cute, too!

I heard about this place years ago but recently visited the place and was pretty impressed by the food.
I've lived in Vallejo most of my life and to be honest, there's not many good places to eat around there. Gracies is a pleasant surprise that serves good food and good dessert. I admit it was a lil pricey but I think the food was definitely worth it.
My half order of tri tip, beans and corn bread was delish and just the right portion. For dessert my bf and I split their apple pie with brown sugar crumblings, drizzled with caramel and it was oh-so-very tasty. For the price ( 3.95 i think) you get a mini pie and had so much left over we were able to take it home They also serve their drinks in mason jars which is pretty cool.
The location sucks, as there is always some kind of construction. The parking is limited, if not closed off, so be prepared to walk. Overall, the restaurant was clean, quirky, and has a nice outdoor patio. I gave 4 stars considering it's in Vallejo and one of the few good places the city has to offer to eat. -

I like BBQ but this time it was just okay.
I had the sausage with corn bread, green beans, and potato salad.
My boyfriend had the brisket with a salad. He liked his.. I shouldn't have gotten the sausage.
Corn bread was REALLY dry, green beans were decent but obviously canned (fresh would taste better and they could get them from the Farmers Mkt), and potato salad was really good! :)
Sausage was extremely greasy and oozed red nasty oil from it. I should have sent it back when I saw this but put a brave face on and ate it. My stomach was pissed and hated me later for it. -

Had been working all day long, built up a big appetite.
Came with my brother,
I had the baby blue side salad to start. Delicious, a great salad.
Next we had the sampler BBQ platter. Ribs chicken(legs and breast), sausauge links. I only wish it came with some of their tri tip but Ill have to try that next time.
The corn bread is very good, and they have honey on the table if your so inclined!
The coleslaw was fresh, not mayo tasting! Good crisp taste.
The maccaroni salad was very good and it had black olives which add a good flavor to any salad
The potato salad was also good.
The sevice was friendly and fast. The food tasted great!
I'd recomend this place for some delicious BBQ if your in the area. -

Vallejo, CA
This place isn't too bad... actually, it's pretty good, but if they tried a little harder they could be so much better.
Good things:
- their portions are HUGE. A half order of their combo plates is about two times what I can finish. I always have left overs.
- swamp juice is a neat little drink. comes in a mason jar. some "southern bbq" restaurants will say they have swamp juice but it's really country time lemonade powder mixed w/ nestea. blech. But the swamp juice as Gracies has a unique taste and isn't too sweet.
- Corn bread...mmm =]
Things I wish they'd improve:
- their food is almost NEVER hot. I think they make all their BBQ at a certain time of the day and just keep it near a lukewarm heater until ordered. This is just too big of a deal for me... I never feel like I'm eating the best their food could be.
- their BBQ sauce is pretty good. it's sweet, though, and I wish they had an alternative spicy bbq sauce.
- sometimes you feel like their waitresses forget about you. Which is especially odd during the slow hours.
Regardless, I'll still be coming back to this place again and again to get my BBQ fix. But I just wish they'd improve a bit. -
