I needed a haircut really badly and GP Institute was right near my house in the old Chubby and Tubby nursery.
Disclosure: The mother of my friend from high school owns the joint, but didn't cut my hair.
The facilities are beautiful, clean and modern. The washing bowl was the most comfortable I have ever used, and they were playing soul music at just the right volume.
The woman who did my hair, Shaquan, was professional, easy to work with, and very fast. She listened to what I wanted and then let me know what she thought the best look for me would be. I am so glad I let her do her work, because my hair is shiny, healthy and I love the look.
They also provide beauty school training, which I know nothing about, but if it is anything like my experience as a customer, I am sure it is worth 5 stars. -

I would have given this a 5 star if i wasnt in such a hurry....
Normally i go to the same ole asian hair salon on mlk...but word of mouth brought me over to GP.
First off GP is located across the street from kawii or kawili restaurant...Its in the same pink building as the repair shop. Entrance is on the back side facing residential.
I arrived at GP approximately 12:25 and since its a cosmetology school all the students were on break. The teacher Ms. G was in and she had no problem helping me with my long over due haircut...
I usually go in for a 1...meaning i try to get my head shaved...ms g...told me no...i was like what?? she was like you need to style your hair...i told her my hair is in your hands...do what you must...
A shampoo, conditioner, a couple of laughter and a style later walked out feeling cleaner and better looking lol...
I would recommed this place to anyone who is in the area. Fast and friendly without an appointment needed...
So your wondering why just a 4?? Not there fault...by rather mine...the drive to this place was a 2 minute longer then my usual place...lol...hey everyone has a room for improvement!!!
But really the experience overall was a 5
