I have been eating at gourmet burrito ever since it was called gordito burrito way back when. The prices are reasonable enough and personally I think their Carne Asada burrito is the best I have had in Stockton. The owner is always in good spirits and always thanks me for my business which keeps me coming back as much as the tasty food does. If you're on the mile or anywhere nearby and you're craving a burrito this is definitely the place to be.

Have ALWAYS wanted to try this place after driving past it on Pacific Ave. for 4 years now. Finally came here for a school fundraiser and the manager was nice enough to have it so that it was buy one get the second item half off AND still donate 15% of the proceeds!

But otherwise than the nice customer service, this place is whatever. They have a pretty diverse menu of Mexican food at reasonable prices.

I got the Garden Veggie burrito for around $4. It was filled with mixed veggies cooked in a SPICY salsa sauce with rice, refried beans, and guacamole. It normally comes with sour cream and cheese, but I opted out. I got to choose from a tomato, spinach, regular, or whole wheat tortilla which I thought was pretty neat. I ended up getting the tomato one.

Overall, the burrito was whatever. It was not as authentically Mexican as I had hoped it to me and in my opinion was WAYYYY too salty for it's own good. Don't know if I'll be coming here again, but the food is overall pretty decent.

The meal also comes with a small side of tortilla chips and a small cup of salsa. Oh, and if you don't want veggies in your Garden Veggie burrito, you can just get a Veggie burrito which is the same thing without the slew of mixed veggies (just rice, beans, and guac.)

I like this place quite a bit.  It's located next to Starbucks, so when it's late and night and I need my caffeine fix to re-energize for studying this is a good one-stop hit.

The burritos are huge. I've never managed to finish one in a single sitting. The place is very clean for a taqueria, but the food is probably a bit Americanized.  I don't mind though, still tastes good!  The salsa is delicious, just the right balance of fresh and spicy.  I've watched them fry up the chips right in front of me, and it's soooo good served warm with the salsa.

I'm a fan of their tamales.  The menu says they have both chicken and beef, but after a few tries I came to the conclusion that the chicken was taken off the menu long ago without ever having it officially marked off.  I do like the pork a lot; compared to other tamales I've had these are very overstuffed with meat, but I'm not complaining.

The owner is very friendly and makes me feel welcome.  Once when I ordered a tamale they didn't have any in stock so he let me pick any item off the menu for the same $3 I paid for my tamale.  Gotta love service =)

A friend of mine and myself went to this place simply because I wanted a burrito. No burrito trucks around this place of Stockton, so we decided for here since Starbucks is next door. I ordered the chorizo burrito, everything except for sour cream. My friend ordered the grilled chicken torta for later in the night as he had Subway earlier (AND WITHOUT ME!). Food is decent! I've been here before, but that was probably two or three years ago. I wouldn't mind going back in here if I was in this part of the area, like I said... but it's good and worth it.

Looking at the comments below makes me want to face palm, though. * face palm *

This is one of the better taquerias in Stockton.  Nachos are great, chili colorado burritos are quite good.  There is something about their beans that is mysteriously delicious, and yes, their salsa is great.  I agree with a previous comment that the rice is habitually undercooked or something.  Also, I /have/ tried something new there occasionally and been disappointed, so sample the menu to find the good stuff.

It does take 5 or 10 minutes longer than your ordinary "fast food" joint, but hey!, they're makin' this stuff fresh right in front of your eyes; can't beat that.

The owner, who speaks impeccable English by the way, is quite cordial, remembers his repeat customers, and is almost always behind the register to take your order.  The gent who happened to get a girl who didn't know English behind the counter must have come in when the owner had to run an errand and one of the cooks was covering - never happened to me once.

I had a verde burrito with rice on the side. The rice was hard and tasteless. and the burrito was average.  I only went into this place because I was picking up some starbucks next door.

Shortly after eating the burrito, I felt ill. And that was the only thing I could have been sick from.

I'm all about burritos. Here in Stockton, I've discovered the local mecca: Rancho San Miguel. Their al pastor and relleno burritos are incredible. As I found myself on "the Mile" with only a few minutes before I needed to be back to work, I stepped in to Gourmet Burrito to give it a shot. Wrong Answer. First, the relleno burrito is about half the size (okay, maybe two-thirds...) of the super burritos at RSM. Second, it basically has no flavor. I'm eating it as I write this and it really has, essentially, very little flavor. Don't waste your time. Oh, and I was considering the torta in favor of the burrito until I read that that it's served on dutch crunch. WTF?

Well, there is one upside to GB over RSM: at least I won't have to fight the delicious food coma for the rest of the afternoon.

This place is yummy! I work at the Starbucks next door, so everyone goes there for their lunches. Best Is the grilled chicken(u have to specifically ask for grilled chicken or u will get shredded) burrito with chipotle sauce, soo good! The spicy salsa, again u have to ask for it or u get the mild one, is the best!

Well, I happen to think this place is swell. Fast, friendly counter service and the food is yummy. They sell the big, fat foil-wrapped mission style burritos, which I happen to prefer over plated, gravy-laden burritos. Their salsa and guacamole are very fresh and flavorful.
I don't understand why everyone is getting their panties in a twist over the name and then OMG! It's not "gourmet"! It's just fast food, guys. Relax.

I really like this place.  The food is pretty good and authentic.  It's not Super Burrito on Fremont, but it's close enough and a good enough substitute.  Their salsa is homemade.  VERY GOOD!  They have the chicken veggie burrito that has sauteed zucchini, squash, cauliflower, sauteed chicken, carrots, broccoli...yummm!  And it still has an authentic flavor with beans and rice and salsa, and guac...their carne asada (or steak asada as they call it) can be a little tough and rubbery at times, but really everything is good.  Whole pinto beans, refried beans, carnitas...very hard to go wrong, INMHO.  :)

The chicken burrito is excellent here and very good sized.  I would not advise to eat the beef.  But that's no knock on them, as I really don't care for the beef in most Mexican places anyways.  Why can taco trucks make awesome asada but a restaurant can't pull it off?  Anyhow, they are a little peculiar here.  For instance, you get your chips with your meal, instead of beforehand.  They also are salsa bar-less.  I do like the food, but the combo plates are not a super deal.  Stick with the burrito.

The name on the Front doesn't describe it at all . Very Bland food, Rice was at time hard. Must of been either last nights rice or they fried the hell out of it. It did have a taste of over cooked something .. maybe Burnt rice . either way I was very hungry and won't make it a priority to go again.

The sign on the front says "gourmet burrito". This place is not gourmet anything but I had a chicken burrito and it was decent. Minus a star for the girl at the counter not knowing a word of English!

I've had better. I think that pretty much sums up Gourmet Burrito. Nothing about it really seemed gourmet, it just seemed like a Mexican restaurant that wasn't trying to be authentic at all. I ordered a chicken machaca burrito, and the burrito was ok, but when they gave me a side of chips they gave me like 5 chips.

I found this gem by accident. Hubby was not feeling well and  REALLY wanted a de-caf coffe, so I ran to Starbucks for him, and smelled the YUMMYNESS coming from the store next door. After I got his coffee I went inside and was welcomed warmly by the owner. He was very helpfu and asked If I needed any suggestions or had any questions. I ended up ordering the carnitas chimichanga. First off the buritto is HUGE and I mean HUGE. you literally need 2 hands to hold it. It was STUFFED with nice chunks of pork, tons of cheese, rice, beans, salsa and sour cream. It was served with some of their homemade chips and the BEST salsa i've ever had. The salsa is darn near addicting. When I brought the bruitto home my hubby and twin boys wanted a taste and then they all wanted one of their own. We have been back several times..have tried the shreadded beef, the chili colorado and the chili verde chimi's. All of them were really good!!! I personally don't care for the rice, or the gucamole, but I just leave them off...no biggy. One small negitive is the very small bag of to go chips...seems really over priced. at $2 for a lunch sack size, but you can get a giant cup of the amazing salsa for $2 which seems like a bargin. Remember they make everything to order so you will wait an average of 10-15 minutes for your order, but just ask and they will give you some fresh chips and salsa to snack on while you do wait. Enjoy!!

The first time I went to this place I just picked up a burrito to go, but I ended up thinking that it was totally overpriced.  Since then I've been back a couple of times for lunch, and I have discovered their lunch special.  The chicken burrito is really good and pretty large. Real chicken (not the chopped up thighs or compressed fast food crap) and fresh tasting ingredients.  Definitely recommended.
