Hell yes.

This was my destination bar for my weekend trip to Bushwick.  It was everything I hoped for.

Got there around 230, there were a few people inside, everyone was friendly.  Shot the shit with people, did some shots with people, enjoyed the FREE SNACKS with people.

Every inch of this bar is covered with comic book memorabilia.  The collage on the bar is great, and the original prints up on the walls are intense.

I'll be back next time I'm in Brooklyn.

I went here with a few friends a couple weeks ago and had a good time.  The drinks are cheap and the place is pretty small, so basically it fits into my idea of a "good bar."

It has a LOT of superhero memorabilia which I don't really care about and the majority of the patrons didn't seem to care about, but it's an interesting aesthetic, at least.

I'll definitely be back.

I really do not care for this bar AT ALL.  I was hoping to add a little variety to my week-night-binge-drinking-escapades seeing as I'm pretty sure the bartenders at Wreck Room are probably tired of seeing me every other night.  However, this bar's only advantage is that they offer $1 PBR on Tuesday's... well, they round out to less than that when I buy a six pack. So.....

Also, the bartender was cranky all night and found it necessary to reminded me, "You know, you don't HAVE to eat the free snacks." Oh.

So they've got free snacks, pool, cheap beer/shot specials, friendly neighborhood bartenders, a clutter of comic book memorabilia serving as decor and a projector screen to show football games... its the perfect dive bar and its just around the corner. I don't know if I'd come here if it weren't so close, but it is so I'll keep coming.

I really wanted to give this place a shot, but I guess I came a little too late.  In terms of the way its set up, its badass, There is cool memorabilia everywhere.  However, the service sucks.  I have been there twice and the head bartender is a total grouch and I have heard complaints about him from other girls.  The prices used to be cheap from what I heard but now you are paying basically Manhattan prices for drinks that come in PLASTIC CUPS.  The good deals are on the PBRs and Whiskey which comes in a plastic bottle.  For a bushwick dive bar I feel like it should be cheaper for mix drinks.  The owner likes to bring his baby downstairs which is just a bit weird.
I don't know, if I had to sum it up it would go as is

Pros: Cheap PBR and Whiskey (plastic bottle whiskey)
Cool comic theme
Cheap pool
Daytime bartenders are nice.

Cons: Bartender with the hat/mohawk is a jerk, the one with the ponytail just seems horny.
Pricey mix drinks in a plastic cup (I dont think they have a proper sink)
Ice tastes funny
The place seems like a popularity contest

Its a shame since I used to hear such good things about this bar.  Im sure its a great place to meet up with easy lays that live in the area since that is what it seems like the place has come to now. It really pisses me off since I bartend too.

Ok was a little skeptical at first from reading some of the negative reviews on yelp. Though I went ahead and gave it a try anyways. Awesome place is all I have to say. I've now been there on more then one occasion, and have yet to have anyone (even the guy with the mohawk lol) be rude. Everyone is very friendly. Drink prices and specials you can never go wrong with. Like really, 3 bucks for a shot and a beer, who the hell can complain! Free snacks and cheap pool. Good music and ya always got the projector playing. Did I really even have to say more after cool people and CHEAP DRINKS!!!! go check it out for yourself.

Holy shit. A diamond in the rough, for sure. Had a great time, killed at pool, met the owner who ruled, the bartender who played great songs all night, and drank cheap drinks in a bar devoted to comic books. Definitely didn't get the comic trivia on the board that night, and was shamed that it was apparently basic, if you knew Aqua Man, who I never really followed.... anyways - I'll be back!!!! thanks!!!!

I've been to this bar one and had a blast!!  we went for a friends birthday and pretty much packed the tiny bar with all our friends.  they let us play guitar hero which was a blast. dirt cheap drinks and if you know your comic books you get a free drink.  by the time I left around 1a.m. I was starving, unfortunately there are no places open late to eat around this part of the hood, McDonalds, Tony's pizza even KFC was closed.  Although it was a bummer nothing was open late for grub, it's not enough of a reason to not go back.

Shot of whiskey and a PBR, $3.  Pool table that's too close to the wall on one side.  Projector often showing some movie where boobs inexplicably pop out of dresses and there are probably some undead bad guys lurking around.  Action figures galore adorning the walls.  Nice bathroom, no beer on tap, open til 4.  Subject to the rumble of the M.  This place is thoroughly dive, and though not as good as some others - for the love of GOD get some beer on tap!!! - it does its job pretty well.  Not a destination, but for bottom-of-the-barrel-Bushwick bars, it's king.

Pretty Fuckin Awesome.
Robb W's review is spot on.

Sunday - Late night was chill. Cartoons on the projector. Great music. (Sex Pistols, Stones, Jimi, etc...) Barely any wait for the pool table. Only 1 belligerent drunk. Nice mix of people. Bartender was completely serious when he carded my 30-year-old-ass.

Seems like 5 stars. Just have to go back and see, probably very soon.

Upon entering Gotham the first thing you'll notice are the comic book themed posters and action figures that litter the bar. I know, cheesy right? Wrong; it's awesome. Inside you will find cheap drinks (go for the $3 pbr/whiskey combo) and great company (the owners are usually around and if they don't know you they will introduce themselves).

Gotham is best Thurs-Sat after 11. This is when things start to pick up. However, stop by on Sunday for some guitar hero action on the big screen, and if there isn't anyone rocking out there is usually a movie being shown. There is also a pool table and an old school comic themed arcade game for the gamers out there. I wouldn't recommend traveling too far to come here given the lack of other bars in the area, but if you're thirsty and in the neighborhood, definitely check it out!

Important note: Next to the entrance outside there is a life-size figure of Superman sticking halfway out of the wall. Next to Superman is a video camera. Inside, above the bar, there is a video monitor that everyone in the bar can see with a live feed to the video camera. There is a chance you may drink one too many of the pbr/whiskey combos and subsequently feel compelled to have a conversation with Superman not realizing he isn't an actual person. If this happens, and you then decide it's a good idea to go back inside for another drink, you will get made fun of. True story.

I agree with Ethan C., Gotham is a perfect little dive bar.

I encountered less than a handful of people hanging out here on a Sunday night, gathered in front of the projector playing Guitar Hero. Everyone was welcoming and I instantly felt as if I was among friends. The decor is cluttered and eclectic, much like Goodbye Blue Monday, except that everything--inside and out--is comic book themed.

Cheap, fun, friendly, awesome.

This bar definitely stands out alittle because its in an area mostly comprised of puerto rican bars. The location isn't ideal, but it's only a 10-15 minute hike up Central Avenue from Life Cafe and the Wreck Room if you're coming from the L train. Its also right underneath the Central Ave. M-train stop.

The other reason this bar stands out is because, as erica said, its comic book themed. Posters, figurines, and on the outside next to the door, a Superman seemingly busting through the wall. Very fun.

$2 dollar PBR, and only $3 for a PBR and whiskey shot, an amazing deal. It's normally never very busy. Gothams basically a perfect little dive bar, and I wish it was closer.

Loren Y. - I'm not sure why you'd order wine from a dive bar...or pretty much any bar in Bushwick...so I am not surprised at all expectations would be dashed. Next time, don't go looking for wines in dive bars!

Great bartenders, unique decor, fantastic comic book theme and dirt cheap specials make this a neighborhood joint you just have to try out. They show basketball games on the big screen too a couple of times that I went. Thank god for this little bit of dive bar heaven in an otherwise bleak Bushwick landscape...way better than Goodbye Blue Monday in my opinion!

ATTENTION Guitar Hero playin', comic book lovin' alcohol drinkin' cheapskates:

I got just the place for you...

Ok you are pretty much guaranteed to have an awesome time at Gotham City Lounge.  I've been there 3 times now.  It's a very warm and friendly neighborhood dive bar.  From the outside you'd never even know it was a bar, except when it's open and there's a handwritten sandwich board and people outside smoking cigarettes.

But once you walk in, the fun begins.  The bar is comic book themed and there are comic book collectibles all OVER the place on the walls.  And there are two more really good catches to this bar, besides the comic book thing...OBVIOUSLY.   They have Guitar Hero on the weekends.  But not JUST Guitar Hero, the entire Rock Band set up.  GIANT screen, all the instruments, the whole joint.  And here's cool thing #3 - A shot of whiskey and a PBR for $3.  That's not just a good deal for NYC, that's a good deal for like...Omaha, or anywhere on EARTH for that matter.

There is also a pool table, and the owners Ray and Louisa are really awesome.  People tend to come back to Gotham City once they go one time, so you're bound to see some familiar faces and feel really welcomed when you return.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I never know when they're open.  I KNOW they're open Friday - Sunday nights and Sunday night is movie night, which is really nice.  But other than that I just don't know.  Sometimes I walk by and it's all locked up.  But if you go there on the weekends, they WILL be open.  And you WILL have fun.

I came here on a lonely Thursday night to find it virtually empty save the owner, his wife/gf (?) and 2 patrons, no one but me bought anything to drink and they were showing some wretched movie that I honestly can't even remember, everyone kept commenting how they had better entertain me or I'd leave, which got a bit old. I stayed for two drinks and then made my way out. I realised this probably wasn't a very good representation of the establishment and I always meant to give it another go, but then I moved from Bushwick to Greenpoint and I'm not making the Odyssian journey back out there anytime soon. I'll give it points for having potential and for probably (possibly) living up to it, just not on the night I chose to go.
