East Hampton, NY
It wouldn't be summer in the Hamptons until you have lobster on the outdoor deck at Gosman's, where the seagulls will try to swipe your french fries when you bend over to pick up your fallen fork. The views are stunning, the food is fantastic. It's one of those places that becomes a familial tradition, something everyone remembers as just what the family did every weekend.
It's also a nice stroll after dinner to the jetty where kids can run rampant that they pass out on the ride home. More glorious Hamptons sunsets and tons of shops to keep everyone happy.
Grab an ice cream cone next door after dinner to make it the perfect night with the family! -

As a Montauk regular, Gosmans is sort of a tradition with my family when we visit Montauk. Rather than the indoor restaurant, we opt to sit outside and watch the boats while we get the takeout. I personally advise eating outside, as the service indoors is quite slow and it gets crowded.
PROS: great view and good food. It's nice and big with a bunch of little shops. You can walk around and have a nice time. I'd advise going between the hours of 2-5 in the afternoon, when the crowd dies down a bit.
CONS: Long wait and A LOT of seagulls. Do not leave small children unattended with food; the seagulls are pretty fearless.
VERDICT: great family place; do the takeout and eat by the water. It's a nice relaxing meal. -

Came here for a quick Sun lunch with little wait- 10 minutes or so. It was a beautiful day to be outside, and Gossman's has a great view of the lake.
They have the standard beach items here- lobster roll, tuna sandwich, etc. But you can get non seafood things. My sister, bf and another guest got the arugula salad (which you can add chicken too- which comes in one big piece). The salad itself is good but uneven, as my sister and bf said. She didn't get enough beets and his got too much. It's a simple arugula salad- arugula, beets, goat cheese, pine nuts and some vinaigrette on the side.
My sister's bf got the tuna sandwich- came medium rare on a simple bread with good looking, but standard steak frites. I got the tuna app- which came with an Asian dipping sauce. It was really, really good. It's getting most of the 4 stars here. I've had a lot of badly cooked tuna as of late but this is completely done well- medium rare- gooey and flavorful on the inside, charred on the outside. Perfectly pan seared. Got some good cole slaw too on the outside.
The service was good, but didn't stand out. Pretty quick as I recall. Prices are Hamptons prices- lunch is $20 after tip and whatnot.
I like the view here, but I hear it's ladden with tourists. Which is kind of funny, because they place does not allow kids. If someone can explain why that is, I'm dying to do. It ain't fancy.
And a quick plug to Gossman's fish market: what a cute little market with incredibly fresh fish. My sister bought the flounder at $13 a pound, and when she cooked it for dinner, believe me, you could tell it was alive 12 hours ago. -

We went to Gosman's Dock before our afternoon fishing expedition for an early, light lunch. Gosman's Dock includes Gosman's Restaurant, Gosman's Inlet Cafe, Gosman's Clam Bar, Gosman's Fish Market, and lots of little shops. We chose Gosman's Clam Bar because it opened the earliest and we didn't have time for a sit-down restaurant.
Since we were at the Clam Bar, of course I had to get the clams. The BAKED CLAMS http://www.yelp.com/bi... had a good mix of breading and ingredients, with clams in each bite. The FRESH CLAMS ON THE HALF SHELL http://www.yelp.com/bi... were my favorite, soft and lightly briny. I could have easily eaten another dozen. We also ordered the LOBSTER SALAD ROLL http://www.yelp.com/bi... which my sister enjoyed and the MIXED GRILL PLATTER (tuna, swordfish, and shrimp) http://www.yelp.com/bi... which was average.
Overall, the Clam Bar is a good spot for a quick bite. My advice is to snack on clams at the Clam Bar and go elsewhere if you're looking for a satisfying meal. There are picnic tables on the dock to the left of the Clam Bar. But beware of the Montauk seagulls! They're not afraid to snatch food right off of your plate.Listed in: MONTAUK

Back when I was about 13, I remember eating at Gosmans with my family. We sat right near the water, which made us perfect targets for the gnarly vicious seagulls. Tragically, we never finished our meal that day.
Nine years later, I was given the honor of choosing a seat for our clan. Remembering that traumatizing event, I chose a booth further away from the waters. My family, BF and I laughed all in unison as we watched the poor souls being eyeballed by the 'gulls.
The food, while good, wasn't as memorable as the actual dining experience at Gosmans. -

It has been somewhat of a tradition my girlfriend and I share that whenever we travel out east, we try and fit lobster rolls into our schedule. Gosman's has been the recipient of our hunger pangs most frequently and for good reason.
The menu is typical for eateries in this neck of the woods, as are the prices. The food is solid and delicious, and the lobster rolls themselves are REAL good. No craw fish in these bad-boys...pure lobster!
HOWEVER, AVOID THE RESTAURANT AND GO TO THE TAKE OUT WINDOW. The inflate the prices to absurd levels, and the staff is mediocre. -

Fun to get beer and a snack at the Clam Bar outside and enjoy the picnic atmosphere. Food neither good nor bad. I had the baked clams, which tasted like overly salted but otherwise reasonably tasty Thanksgiving stuffing. However, the beer selection is pretty good and fried food is fried food (e.g. tasty enough).

New York, NY
Went here on a not busy Tuesday night in July, late in the evening (around 9 pm).
All I can say is that Gosman's is the perfect example of a restaurant which has grown too big, and has forgotten that customers are people, not cattle.
I went with my family on a Tuesday night to get a late dinner while waiting for a ferry to arrive. The first person we encountered was a very stern-looking, unfriendly hostess perched behind an enormous podium. She was surrounded by a bunch of other employees who obviously were idle because the restaurant was not very crowded.
We were a party of 6 but asked to be split into two parties of three because we wanted to sit on the patio and there were about a dozen empty tables out there (the patio is right next to the hostess stand). You'd think we asked them to split the atom and give us a free meal to boot by their reaction to our simple request. They were totally put out, and in fact one of the waitresses rolled her eyes at me behind my back (someone else in my party told me). To punish us, they seated us not on the patio, but off to the side under a deck. We asked again, and they finally moved us to patio seats. They made it seem as if this favor was completely extraordinary, even though as I said there were more empty than full tables out there. Amazing...
When the server came to take care of us, we asked if we could order a drink and some appetizers and then order dinner in a few minutes. She told us that was 'against the rules'-- the kitchen only allows food orders to be put in at once. Now, maybe if the place is full that MIGHT make some sense (even then I think they should accommodate their customers, not vice versa) but the restaurant was VIRTUALLY EMPTY when we asked. Ridiculous...
The menu: nothing to write home about. An entire section of it dedicated to 'Fried Seafood'. What about a simple broiled or grilled piece of fish? Nowhere in sight. Seemed very outdated to all of us. We didn't order lobster, but I'm sure that is good and fresh. Otherwise, very generic, plain, and uncreative offerings.
This is, to me, the perfect example of a restaurant which has had some success, grown more than it should, and developed a massive ego at the expense of plain ole customer service and friendliness. They act as if you're lucky to have the opportunity to dine there.
There are plenty of good restaurants around Gosman's which treat you like a customer and make you feel like your business is appreciated (as well as serve excellent fresh seafood). If you don't mind being treated like cattle, eating mediocre food, and overpaying then Gosman's Dock may be for you.
OTHERWISE I WOULD SUGGEST YOU AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. Or, just go for a drink on the patio to enjoy the view and go eat somewhere else. They don't deserve our money. -

Stopped by on a lark from NYC. We were told our dog could sit with us on the patio. Then told by a snotty waitress that dogs were not allowed anywhere on the patio and that 'erm, who told you they were allowed'. I am not used to being questioned by waitstaff who don't know what they, or their fellow workers are doing. No skin off my nose, the food is badly reviewed and we were one of three tables seated.
We stopped by one of the clam shacks 10 miles east on 27. Wonderful service, food was great.
Stay away from Gosman's what a waste of time. -

Gossmans dock and topside are like the south shore's version of Claudio's in greenport with a touch more class. Tourists adore it. Your eye candy is comprised mostly of the beautiful view, artful dishes and a decent looking waitstaff. It's best to sit out here on a warm sunny day as ferries, jet skis and boats leisurely pass by below you.
We started with the lobster bisque and the crab cakes. The bisque left much to be desired as it was uninspired and bland. There were barely any chunks of lobster in it (my favorite part) and it had a very thin viscosity. On the flip side the crab cakes were well worth ordering. They were fresh, warm and soft with the right amount of spice and flavor. They didn't taste like hard pucks that have been reheated like some restaurants would serve you.
Our next dishes were the blackened chicken salad and the mussels fra diavlo. The salad was a little confusing. The chicken brought truckloads of spice to the table. It seemed like it was coated and cooked with black pepper and cajun seasoning. Your initial taste of it was tame but after a few seconds it had a spicy right hook! Not something I was expecting at all. We had to shave off part of the seasoning on top so we could eat it. The mussles fra divalo was another dish with bold flavor. It was essentially a garlic lovers wet dream served with fat boy garlic "bread" on texas toast. Onions, garlic, parsley and some tuttorosso crushed tomatos covered my mussels. Yum.
I loved the view up here. I can't speak much for the decor (you're on a roof sitting on plastic chairs) but it was appropriate for dock side Montauk. We had fun sneaking the seagulls pieces of flat bread. ^.^ -

A beautiful fall afternoon, blue skies, and gentle wind can only mean - have lunch outside on the deck.
Ordered fish & chips and a bowl of clam chowder from the shack. F&C were generous, properly cooked and tender on the inside. The chowder was on the watery side (okay), and the kid dredged from the bottom of the kettle - a *substantial* amount of clams and potatoes. Grace this with an occasional whiff of diesel fumes from the returning fishing boats and you have a good afternoon in Montauk. -

My girlfriend and I decided to go to Gosmans dock to get lobsters for dinner. After our dinner we went back home and woke up the next morning with a bad case of food poisoning that left us bed stricken for a couple days. The worst way to end our summer vacation. Avoid this place at all costs. And by the way, the lobsters tasted sub par but just thinking about the lobsters there makes my girlfriend and i just want to vomit.

Not ENTIRELY kid friendly. No strollers allowed, and no flippable high chairs to put a baby car seat. There was plenty of room for our stroller but they decided to put our car seat between 2 chairs instead (way more dangerous)
The waitress did a bait and switch on us. We ordered the fried flounder, she asked if we didn't want it broiled instead, the price went from $17 to $26 without a warning, you don't do that to your customer.
The food was ok, not great. My fish was very tasteless, I was a little dissapointed for the price I paid. Usually dishes around $20 tend to be good enough to lick your fingers in my experience, not here.
Def. Not a $$ rating, more like $$$. Dish average price between $25 to $35, and up to $50 for Jumbo Shrimps. -

Well, if you love outside dining, Gosman's is for you. They have tables with umbrellas which make you feel as if you're on vacation. You have a view of what I believe is the harbor so seeing party boats & fishing boats is a guarantee. To be honest, I get a kick out of it. Everyone seems to be happy and having a good time.
Service was mediocre. If you're in a rush, forget it...don't even bother eating here. You're better off getting takeout else where. I believe you kind of have to be in a relaxed mood since drinks and food does not come out right away.
I visited the restaurant for lunch. They had quite a selection of seafood and what not. I was actually impressed. It's not like a book, but they had quite a selection. Since the restaurant is supposedly "fine dining", prices of course were "fine dining" prices. However, the waitstaff's uniform makes me wonder if it's really fine dining. But anyways, food was delicious. One thing that disappointed me was that my food wasn't cooked the way I wanted it to be cooked. I had ordered a tuna fillet on chiabata bread. I told the waiter that I wanted my fish well done. The fish ended up being medium rare to medium. It was pink and squishy in the middle, almost like sushi. I didn't mind, but I was annoyed especially since the portions were quite, shrinky dink (my phrase for really small). To be honest, food & drinks in that restaurant was quite shrinky dink except for the price. LOL I kid you not!!!!! Another thing that disappointed me was their drinks. Im sorry, but their drinks were weak. I think they only put half a shot or something in every drink. Oh well, what can you do?
Overall, I may go to back just to see if dinner is better my lunch experience. I just thought it was great to be outside enjoying the sun while eating. :) -

The take out window is awesome, this is my must-eat place every time I come to Montauk. I always get the Lobster in the Rough. I remember when it was $15, now its about $27, still the best deal in town.
However, the restaurant, AVOID AVOID AVOID. Extremely overpriced (the 1 1/4 lobster alone is $35. At the outdoor clam bar you'd get that plus mussles soup and corn for $8 less). Also, the service was terrible. And the food not so good. My friends got the clam strips, and they looked and tasted like fried slugs. -

The clam bar was terrible. The steamers were expensive and tasteless. Did they boil all the brine out of them? Same goes for the clam chowder. We ordered a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for our toddler and there was less than a spoonful of pb + j on two jumbo pieces of bread for $4. Are they for real? We had MUCH better seafood at Dureya's Deck for less. Even my ginger ale was watered down. Geez! Definitely a tourist trap.

I had lunch there today (Wednesday August 31, 2011) I ordered New England Clam Chowder and my wife had Manhattan Clam Chowder & Clams Casino. It took way too long for our order to arrive at our table, the restaurant was empty BTW. Both chowders were extremely watery and lukewarm. The clams casino (A specialty of the house) were terrible. The service was indifferent at best. I recommend going elsewhere for seafood. A chain like Long John Silvers could deliver better food at a better price. By the way the tab for this lunch was $29.99 ( Two bowls a watery soup and four clams with parsley).

Was looking around Montauk, NY for a godd restaurant for dinner. Glad I looked on Yelp, and I found Gosman's.
Food: Food was good. I got one of the combos, which included a lobster, some fish, mashed potatoes and a stuffed clam. The lobster was what you would expect at a lobster place. It as just steamed, so nothing crazy special there, but it was yummy. The fish was really quite tasty. The clam was not my type of food, didn't really like it. The potatoes were average, I've definitely had much better. My girlfriend got a stuffed shrimp dish, and there were three huge shrimp. That was really quite amazing and tasty.
For dessert, we had the flour-less chocolate cake, which was pretty tasty. It came with ice cream, and I'd definitely recommend it.
Price: Reasonable seafood prices for the quality of food.
I'd definitely come back here again if I were in the area and wanting seafood! Service was good. -

This was a good night. We captured a window seat, with a breathtaking view of the bay. Calm summer evenings brought gentle waves, and the refreshing mist of salt water in the air provided a perfume, potent with the sweet odor of love. Between hearty sips of Chardonnay, you glared angrily at our fellow patrons, and knighted me as an unabashed fucktard of the highest order. What a title of prestige you flatter this unworthy vessel with, my heart!
The night grew old, and I grew tired of your merciless insults. Am I not a man? A man, you said, does not announce his presence by giddily showing off a new pair of leederhosen. My attempts to placate you with an offering of fresh shucked oysters was for naught. You were unrelenting on this night...a seemingly bottomless pit of alcohol and rage.
Perhaps I should retract. This was not the best of nights. -

A must visit location when in Montauk for absolutely great seafood. Gosman's Dock is right on the waters of Block Island Sound, which just adds a great setting to your dining experience.
The place gets packed after 5pm, so if you can, go early and avoid the massive amount of people that are trying to suck on lobster tails and inhale shrimp.
Speaking of which, the shrimp scampi was out of this world good! Probably the best tasting shrimp I have ever tasted. The garlic, herbs, and various other ingredients truly made this part of my meal memorable.
The stuffed mushrooms caps were chock full of lobster, scallops, and shrimp. Holy jebus...so friggin' good!
The crab cakes, while tasty and devoured within seconds of being placed in front of me, were not my favorite. I guess that is tough since I was comparing them to the ones I tried down in Baltimore.
I also checked out their lobster bisque ($5 for a cup - $7.50 for a bowl). Holy mother of all things from the sea, this was so rich and flavorsome. The chunks of lobster were generous and so was the amount of bisque they serve you.
I highly suggest going here when in Montauk. You will not regret it if you love seafood. But if you do not like eating from the water, then check out their steaks and chicken. Both also very delicious.
Although the place was bursting at the seams with customers, the waitress was super attentive, friendly, and quick to refill our drinks - always a big plus and what made a 4-star dining experience a 5-stars overall night out in Montauk. -
Review from Will D.
Gosman's is a seafood establishment on the inlet between Montauk Lake and Block Island Sound. This review is about the take-out window, not the sit-down restaurant.
This is reasonably good basic fried seafood and chowder served with plastic utensils under umbrellas on the dock. I found the staff at the window to be friendly and helpful, food preparation quick and the food tasty.
At least one other reviewer has noted the seagulls who expectantly wait for hand-outs. While they did not bother my party, I could certainly see them being a problem at other times. While feeding the gulls seems fun, I can understand the havoc it creates once they get worked up. -
Review from Elena V.
If you're into overpriced tourist-trap diners with hospital style lighting then this would be an optimal choice.
We had to wait 15 minutes at the bar despite there being plenty of empty tables. The bartender was not in a good mood and the drink list pathetic. All drinks except the mojitos are drinks that don't require any kind of mixing or blending. When I ordered the mojito I was rewarded with a dirty look. When someone else at the bar also ordered a mojito he could barely contain his disgust. Not surprisingly, drinks were served in plastic glases with the striped generic straws.
Food:
Yellowtail flounder- comparable to microwaved fishsticks. Mushy and overcooked to boot.
Chive crushed potato- mashed potatoes reminiscent of public school
food- tasteless.
Baked clams- Not even certain there were clams in this. A soggy, sorry mix of what tasted like bread crumbs and aged parsley.
Stuffed Montauk Lobster- a mystery mix (supposedly stuffed with lobster, shrimp, and scallops) but seemed like they threw a bunch of randowm ingredients in a blender and dolloped it over the lobster. Needless to say, it was not appetizing.
Steamed Mussels- this dish was pretty ok. It would be hard to mess up. The bread served with it was pretty stale.
Montauk Lobster- not much flavor, commercial tasting. It's acceptable but for a place specializing in seafood it's rather disappointing.
It's nice to look out over the deck and see the water. But the actual ambiance is very dull, diner style seating, boring furniture and decor. Most diners had that suburban fashion-challenged tacky look.
I cannot for the life of me comprehend why anyone would give good reviews to this place. It is PATHETIC!! -

Gosman's got mixed reviews and I didn't get a clear idea of the experience. So we decided to see for ourselves. Unfortunatly the negative reviews were spot on. The place wasn't so crowded that you had to wait to be seated. Service was slow, the view was nothing to write home about it looked over at another restaurant which by the way was very good. And the food was tough and overly salty. And I' m sorry to say my hubby and I had digestive issues .The one item we both had was the lobster bisque. My advice, if your not sure DON'T DO IT! There are plenty of other restaurants with stunning reviews and will give you a greater chance of a good culinary experience.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Very nice white table cloth kind of place. Right on the water, and right were boats come in from the ocean.
The specialty here is definitely lobster. I must admit that of the 6 people in our party, only one person ordered anything with lobster in it. The rest of the menu is excellent and focused on seafood.
Gosman's is not cheap, but it is definitely good.Listed in: Highway 27E Revisited

My dad knows one of the owners, so we always get an awesome table. Even if we didn't get to sit with the gorgeous view of the water, boats and usually a sunset, the seafood gets 5 stars on its own.
The lobster bisque is rich, delicious and actually contains enough lobster to make it worth your while. The baked clams are so much better than your run of the mill stuffing-with-a-little-bit-of-clam. The stuffed mushrooms are fabulous and the house salad with the home made blue cheese dressing is the best I've ever had.
If you haven't filled up on appetizers and amazing bread (it's hard, but don't do it!), the seafood is the best! Lobster! Fish! Clams! Awesome! Seriously, spring for the 2 lb lobster and take whatever is left home. If you're like me, lobster's a special occasion food and Gosman's is a special occasion place (or someone else is paying for your meal), splurge! Gosman's is the best place to go seafood crazy.
Afterwards, walk around the little shopping area a bit and maybe hit up Ben & Jerry's for dessert if you're not too stuffed.
Oh, and if you want cheaper, take out food, you can go to the stand and eat outside... almost as good!Listed in: "The Hamptons"

Great, great seafood. Amazing location. What more could you ask for?
Well, the one thing I'd probably want would be cheaper prices. But I guess the expense for eating at here is on-par with all other seafood places in Montauk. Expect to spend in excess of 25 dollars per person, excluding drinks. However, the food is well worth it, and you can't ask for a better location. Gosman's Dock is hidden away on a semi-private road north of the town of Montauk and a lot of people aren't familiar with this place. But the food is fresher and tastier than similar seafood shacks, including the Lobster Roll. You order and eat outdoors on a dock (hence the name), and you overlook Fort Pond. WAY nicer than any other restaurant's view. -

When awesome struggles for the word for great seafood it mutters "Gosman's." I've been coming here since I was a kid, and nothing says summer like dunking a lobster claw in butter on the deck after a long day at the beach.
If you're looking for great chow-dah, or a lobster so big that your glad someone dispatched the bastard before he got to you...then Gosman's. Seriously, look @ the map and then swallow any doubts as the fishing boats ferry by yards from your seat.
I've never eaten here after dark of in bad weather, so I have no clue about inside the restaurant. But I'd say it's a must do if you're visiting the point. -

Great place to go if you like cruise ship style food. Generic is an understatement. Everything looks like it came out of a can.
When I asked for the angel hair pasta with garlic shrimp, I mentioned to the server that I'd really like them to go light on the alfredo sauce.
When it was brought to me, my server tells me "here you go, light on the sauce." I was looking into a bowl of soup with some pasta and a few shrimp.
Service was good, until it got close to closing and then they start to roll up the restaurant around you. -

Gosman's fits that mold of restaurants that convey a fine-dining menu on you and come up short on the atmosphere. Looking at the other patrons, I had to remind myself that i wasn't right in the middle of early bird hour at Bob Evans. Seriously, every check dropped on a table outside of ours had to include an automatic 10% senior discount.
Anyway, sitting by the marina was pleasant enough. The menu prices completely contradict the gosmans polo and khaki shorts with tennis shoes attire of the wait staff. Service was mediocre(drink attention especially) maybe attributed to wait staff burned out from a summer of snooty tourists(our trip was end of Sept.)
On to the food. Started with decent Clam chowder; satisfying but nothing that wowed me($6/cup...hmmm). Bad start, getting disappointed. Ordered the gosmans stuffed shrimp with local vegetables and wild rice pilaf sides. The shrimp were fantastic, dare I say, orgasmic. 3 colossal prawns jammed with more shrimp, bay scallops, crab and lobster cradled by an out of this world stuffing that explodes with flavor. 3 shrimp have never filled me like that. An amazing entree accompanied by literally 2 bites of veggies and instant Uncle Ben's rice...unbelievable. 5-star entree dragged down by something so simple to remedy. -

What a disappointment. I haven't been here in almost 20 years and while the view is still great the food was awful the 3 Lb lobster looked to be barely 2 Lbs. And it wax possible the worst lobster ever. Go for the view, but eat elsewhere.

I was very excited about Gosman's take out window. I love take out fish joints on docks. Typically....typically....you get the freshest fish plopped on a plate at the best prices.
Gosman's gives take out fish joints a bad name. Frozen fish at the local Walmart is embarrassed by this slop. Swordfish....isn't that usually a steak? Or at least resemble something thick? This thing was thinner than Donald Trump's comb over, overcooked and tasteless.
Someone give this place a fishing pole...they need to make use of the water that surrounds them...and the fresh fish in it. -

Get the table with the view, grab a plastic bib, order the lobster, and just think to yourself how you're living in the lap of luxury. You peaked!
To justify going to this spot, i'd highly recommend thinking about what type of philanthropic endeavors you might champion over the next week. ok, time for me to do some community service, does giving high fives to kids count? -

Gosman's Topside was OK. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either, however, I certainly expected more.
The view was beautiful. There didn't seem to be a bad place to sit. We asked to be seated towards the end of platform because there were tons of seats available and we wanted to take some photos. While we were able to sit there, we got an attitude from the hostess, as did another couple we saw do the same thing who were seated after us. The rest of the staff was attentive, but seemed a bit phony.
Now the food. We only order apps and drinks, including the shrimp cocktail and steamed clams. Clams were tasty, but the shrimp cocktail was a huge disappointment. It was something like out of the supermarket. I had much higher expectations from a seafood joint. Drinks were tasty - good bloody mary and pina colada.
I liked the relaxed, casual atmosphere, spectacular views and the fact that it's adults only, but the food and service could definitely use improvement. I give it 3 stars, but if I could, would give it more like 2 1/2. -

Delicious seafood restaurant right by the water. It's a picturesque location with the docks, outdoor seating and dining, bars, and shops all around to browse in. Obviously the main gig here is seafood, so order on the lobster, the shrimp, the scallops and so forth. It doesn't matter what you order because anything on the menu tastes amazing.
There are so many options on the menu and everything is very tasty and prepared well. Yes, it can be pricey but it's worth it. I've eaten here many times over the years as my parents liked to vacation in Montauk ever since I was a kid.
Service is normal with a wait staff mostly compromised of college kids on summer break. I've never had bad service, though and everyone is generally friendly and easygoing. -

a really great venue with good, relaxing atmosphere, yummy food, and beautiful view of the water. what more can you ask for?
drinks were not that good however ( i ordered the electric lemonade) so i suggest you avoid that but the stuffed mushroom caps were absolutely delicious if you want something ohter than the lobster!! oysters were fresh and tasty too!
I highly recommend this place! -

Great seaside seafood dining. I'm not sure if I was starving or if Gosman's served up some amazing seafood. The place smells wonderful from outside. The seabass was decent, the swordfish was excellent, and the seafood stuffed mushrooms were to die for. We ordered a second round.
STIFF cocktails, so stiff I walked into the wrong dining room and was totally confused for too long, this place is huge!
Service was okay, harried and rushed but attentive. The only thing that annoyed me was a note in the bill that said "we appreciate gratuities in cash" blah blah, kinda tacky. -

It was way too cold to buy at the take-out window and eat outside so we had to sit down inside the resto, which has a slightly different menu. The nieces have been here many times and they wanted the clam strips from the take-out window. Unfor, the resto inside didn't serve it.
But the food was really good, better than we had expected, to be honest. I had a caesar salad with charred raw tuna. It was $15 and fabulous. Very fresh tuna, charred just so. My husband had the tuna melt, but it's a piece of fish, not canned tuna. It had melted cheese and onions. We split a calamari which was well worth it at $9. Big pieces, not a lot of tentacles, and not too batter-y. The rest of our party had fried shrimp and chips, mussels, salads, soup, etc.
The service was good, and the view was fantastic. Too bad the weather was crap, it kind of made the place dreary as there weren't a lot of customers, maybe only five tables full. -

Great view with super fresh seafood straight off the day boats!
This place is so charming too.
We got a great on soft shell clams from the fish market on the way home. I definitely recommend it.
