    SO AWESOME!!!

Must get the tacos! I get chicken and tuna, both are amazing. I am not usually a fish taco type of person but these are so delicious. I also get a side of macaroni and cheese, so yummm! Shrimp appetizers are very good too!

We left this place so pleased and so full with delicious food! The place has a chill vibe and the tables are all brightly colored. We had the seafood egg roll as our appetizer and it was incredible. The shrimp and crab bisque was perhaps the best I've ever had, a mélange of creamy but also sweet and spicy. Highly recommended. The menu is a tad hard to decipher and it's useful in some cases to order several things from different parts of the menu. The sticks were good as well but a little expensive for what you get. The key lime cheesecake is creamy but not too tangy. All of this said, Goombay's is an excellent establishment and thus highly recommended. Four parting words: shrimp and crab bisque !!!!

    Delicious!!!

We were driving down A1A (Beachfront Avenue!) and searching for places to eat on a Thursday night. I was in the passenger seat searching on Yelp when we passed Goombays. The reviews looked good and everyone was mentioning the fish and shrimp tacos. Sold!

I had the blackened tuna taco and a shrimp taco!  Perfect!  My girlfriend had the blackened mahi taco and the tuna taco! Awesome! My daughter had the citrus terryiaki wings! She loved them and said she wished she had the recipe for that sauce!

The tacos were delicious and well worth the trip.  It's a little place, sort of a hole in the wall with picnic table seating both inside and out. There's a great beer selection including local Florida brews.

We'll be back! Try it if you're in the area!  You can't beat it for the price and the taste combination.

Casual, laid back atmosphere. Nice service. Tuna salad was ok, but conch-fritters were great!
Heads up- food is on the spicy side.

My kind of place!  Beach casual, outdoor seating, Blue Moon on tap and the freshest fish possible!  A super chill vibe and lots of room to hide away or to bring a boisterous group.  The mahi tacos were different - I didn't initially like the cheese sauce on them, but by the second one I was won over.  Everyone in our party raved about the food, and that is pretty remarkable considering the group I was with!  They also have a full bar.

UPDATE:  NO MORE BLUE MOON ON TAP!  The beer selection isn't nearly as good now, but they have started Friday dinner specials which are spectacular.

Awesome fish sandwiches and taocs served at outside at picnic tables by tattoo'd chicks. Lots of fresh fish, your choice of rub, sauce, condiments... not your choice of which tattoo'd chick, but they all seem to be hot.

    What's not to love?

Wow... Awesome!  Had the Ahi Tuna on a stick, Mahi Taco, Coconut rice, Steak on a stick, Cheeseburger PoBoy, and French fries.  They were all FRESH, COOKED to ORDER and delicious!

    Definitely try everything there!

This place has a great reputation, so we were looking forward to our visit. "Severely disappointing" doesn't even begin to describe it.

We arrived at opening time (11 am) on a Saturday. The sweet tea tasted "off," as though it was left from the day before.

They were out of steamed clams (which happens), so we chose "slippertail lobster" (or something like that, working from memory). These are like large shrimp, but the were visibly translucent ... Undercooked!

One of my dining companions ordered a mini salad, which simply never arrived. The rest of the food was fine ... And the mahi tacos were as described ... Delicious.

However, Goombay's lost all its stars when I went to use the restroom after the meal. The bathroom was ABSOLUTELY OVERRUN with drain flies. I have never, ever before had to swat insects away from my private parts while using a urinal. In this way, Goombay's has lived up to its reputation of providing an unforgettable experience

After I left the restroom, I told the server about the bugs, and she said they were aware of the problem and having an exterminator come every day. This is admirable, I suppose, but this filthy condition should not exist in an operating restaurant for a single day. My two word suggestion to management: "urinal cake."

We ate there 2 days ago and I'm still thinking about the shrimp tacos. Could be the best I've ever had...I need to go back soon to make sure  :-)

If you're looking for ambience, this probably isn't the place for you but if a local joint, close to the beach and unpretentious is more your style, you're gonna love Goombays.

We stuck to the tacos (hubby went for steak-he loved the cheese sauce) and i fell in love with the fresh, bursty shrimp tacos and a stick of veggies. A couple cold beers on draft and our lunch was complete.

Service was ok but the food was DEFINATELY worth any wait.

The mahi taco was great, but waaay too small.

The seafood chowder was a little spicy, but nothing that a cold Blue Moon couldn't help.

I really didn't like the seating outside, the sound of traffic was very loud & our wire pub chairs were uncomfortable.

Good for a one time experience, but I'm going back to Squidlips.

Great place. Very beach casual. One of the best veggie salads I've had. Good steamed clams. Great Mahi--I had mine w/ jerk seasoning on a stick. Mahi taco was good too. And the beer was cold. Perfect.

The tacos are awesome as well as the gumbo. It's a place to eat at once in a while. The reason I say this is because for the price you pay, you receive small  portions. I would stay away from the seafood . Other downside is the location. It's kind of a destination spot between the Surf ghetto and Patrick Air Force Base. If it was located further south it would get more business.

Better since new management took over. I am not sure about the loss of the liquor license but it is a fun place to go where locals like to hang. They have fantastic salad and the best french fries on the beach! ;)

Great food but portions are small for the price. It's different enough to stay on the rotation though, and it's the sort of place we bring visiting friends for something that's beachy and fun.

Good Food, Average Prices, Horrible Ice Tea

Goombays has a lot going for it starting with a location on A1A, right across the street from the beach.  The place is casual,  picnic benches are a seating choice and diners can eat inside or out.  For an entrée tuna sticks at $6.00 is quite large piece of tuna (two of these would be dinner) on a stick, that can be ordered jerked, blackened or simply grilled.  For lunch I opted for a jerked tuna stick, a blackened mahi taco, and what I thought was brewed ice tea.  The tuna was great.  It was cooked as ordered, jerked and rare, and was fresh and nicely seasoned.

The mahi taco was a little on the small side for $4.50 but the ingredients were quality. Mahi, field greens lettuce and cheese sauce.  When I ordered I thought the real cheddar would have been a better choice than cheese sauce but the mild cheese sauce works better than I could have imagined.

The big disappointment was the tea.  Goobays has a device that looks like an ice tea brewing machine.  When I tasted the  1/2 sweet and 1/2 unsweet tea it had a chemical aftertaste.  It was gross.  I then went inside to investigate.  The tea dispenser had a "Bunn" (a food service conglomerate) label on it, and had two spouts one for sweet tea and the other for unsweetened tea.  It also had a waterline attached to it.  I saw it and knew that I had been had.  This was tea from a soda fountain disguised to look like a brewing device.  The waitress confirmed it when I asked:

    Q:  Is this brewed tea?
A:  No its from bags of concentrate.

Thankfully Goombays switched their vile tea for a Coke.  It surprised me that a restaurant that would care enough about using quality ingredients that they use field greens or baby romaine in their tacos would cut corners by using fake tea from concentrate rather than brewing real ice tea.  I mean how hard is it to boil water to make Ice tea.  If other casual eateries like Sonny's BBQ, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, or even McDonalds can brew tea why can't Goombays.  Some restaurants in the south sell more ice tea than soda.  I guess next time I am at Goombay's I will get take out.  If Goomabay's had real ice tea I would give it 4 stars.

A friend took us here for dinner for the first time tonight.  Had the steak and tuna sticks (kabobs) with a side of mac & cheese and the mahi taco.  Everything was fresh and delicious!  The owner was really nice and even talked to my girlfriend about getting a gluten free menu going.  Definitely casual, but well worth a stop.

All I have to say is 2 shrimp tacos (grilled) with sweet rice and peas. One of the best all around meals in Brevard. I am very happy they re-opened. (yes, they were closed for a few months). A personal favorite.

We recently moved to Satellite beach, maybe 3/4 of mile from this place. We were so happy that we tried this place. From what I understand, from conversations the owner was having with some customers, it is under new ownership. I'm not sure how it used to be, but this place was fantastic! We ate on the deck and the service was good. My wife ordered a Sangria and it was not very good, and the waitress was quick to replace it with the drink of her choice. We both order a grilled mahi taco (hot). It was great! she ordered the vege sticks and I order the chicken sticks. Both were also great. The Thai Chili sauce was awesome. The kids meals are only $3.00. We will be regulars here for sure! Do yourself a favor and check this place out.
