4 reviews for Goofy Foot Lodge
The first time I wandered in here, I was impressed. After walking the bridge into a seemingly abandoned neighborhood, we were intrigued to find a sweet little bar tucked into a ghostly hood. Yeah, good strong drinks, friendly staff, interesting locale.
However, on a second visit, I have to agree with other posters about the clientele, which does seems rather lame. Boozy frat boys and young gals with fake tans and gelled hair. Just not my crowd, thats all.
This place has lots of potential!
Goofy Foot was sold and the building re-opened Feb 13 2009 - it is now called 'Bones'
My relationship with The Goofy Foot runs along love/hate lines.
The breakdown:
Pros:
-- Professional bartenders, drinks made decently. Not super-generous on the booze, but not watered down.
-- Play pool for a quarter.
-- Comfy couches, chairs, and wooden benches. Roomy most nights.
-- Good location (10th St. Bridge between Old Market & Lil' Italy) with good parking possibilities.
-- The atmosphere works. It isnt made to cater toward hipsters, isn't trendy or designed for the idiots who ruin most downtown bars. The oldschool surf/ski lodge theme is charming. While I'm not totally against TVs in bars by any means, it's nice to know of a place where there aren't any. No single musical theme dominates, for good or for bad.
-- Fantastic restrooms. Could be the best bar bathrooms in Omaha.
Cons:
-- Sure, it's got a reputation for overlooking underaged girls drinking. That's not a big deal in and of itself if it weren't for the fact that the place sometimes actually does draw the "young and stupid looking for a hookup" type, including the aforementioned demographic, sometimes. Friday nights in particular sometimes turn too much into "college nights," and while I'm sure the income is good with that crowd, it's no fun for others of us. I've seen what the other reviewer talked about happen a couple of times -- idiot fratboy types and giggly little girls take over the joint for a while sometimes, and it's no good.
-- They used to get pretty good music in there, but then it started to tank. Bring back bands like Kite Pilot and Simon Joyner's crew...and if you do still have those shows, then advertise them!
This bar is closed sooooo... not much reason to go there.
