8 reviews for Good Time Chinese & Mexican Restaurant
It's a chinese and tex-mex place. and super cheap. i ordered general tsos chicken. it was ready in under 5 minutes and only cost me $5. There is enough food, it is like two meals.
A lot of people were in there buying the grilled chicken and steak.
It's a good mix of food that can accommodate anyone.
Wouldnt go out of my way for this place, but not bad for neighborhood chinese takeout. I like their bean curd in garlic sauce with broccoli. Hot and sour soup was also on par. Would not recommend the mexican food here.
Blech. This place was absolutely terrible.
I know, I was in East Harlem, and I could've definitely found more authentic Mexican food, but I decided to give this Chinese/Tex Mex place a try. Why not?
Well, I'll tell you why not.
I got the grilled chicken & chili lunch special - came with the chicken, chili, Mexican rice, black beans, lettuce, tomato, and 2 soft tortillas for $5.25. Well, the chili tasted disgusting. It was either old/rotten or it was just lacking flavor. The chicken was decent, the rice and beans were just OK, the salsa was so extremely watered down that it had no flavor and they gave me less than a spoonful of watery sour cream.
I ate the meal because I spent almost 6 bucks on it, but I left feeling dissatisfied - and ended up with a sick feeling in my stomach an hour later. Do yourself a favor and go to any of the other Mexican food establishments in the area. I'm sure it'll be loads better than this dump.
Maybe I don't have a distinguished palette but I have no complaints about Good Time Chinese and Mexican restaurant. How good can a place that serves Tex-Mex and Chinese food be you ask? In my opinion, pretty darn good. Granted, I have only been there once and I ordered chicken and rice off the Mexican menu. And let's be honest, I don't think anyone can mess up chicken and rice. The sauce served on the side added quite a bit of flavor to the dish without overwhelming my taste buds. Yet for less than $5 even after tax, my dinner was a bargain and darn near a steal.
Still fast, still fresh, still cheap. Great service, food delivered hot. This is yummy Tex-Mex and now I've tried their Chinese food as well. I would have to say their portions are phenomenal, especially for the price you are paying, but their Chinese food leaves a little to be desired. I would stick with their Mexican food. I have to say their steak burrito is not that good though, the meat they use is really fatty. But I've tried a number of their other Tex-Mexican dishes and I love their super nachos! Yummy. I've pretty much been a loyal customer since I've lived in El Barrio and will continue to be. I haven't actually been inside their bricks and mortar building, nor do I want to as I might get scared and compare it to the other Chinese fast food places in my hood, but getting it delivered suits me just fine.

Cheap tex-mex yummies and fast delivery. You can't go wrong. Good sized portions too! Food is… Read more »
This place gets 2 stars for both the Chinese food and the Mexican food. The steak burrito that I ordered was OK - it was big enough for two meals. For $6 I guess I can deal. Chinese food we've had the capital chicken (if you like shitake mushroom you'll LOVE this dish), the beef with eggplant, wonton soup (nothing special), and boneless spare ribs (good by delivery standards). The portions are huge so one order can def be more than enough for two people (my bf and I eat a LOT but even we can't finish one portion from Good Time). With majority of the dishes costing around $6 it is a good choice during the recession.
The one thing to point out is that their quality has been going down. When we first ordered from here we were impressed but now it just is worse and worse every time. The tortilla chips now just come dripping in oil and the pico de gallo has a funky acidic taste to it. I don't think we'll be ordering as much from here anymore...in emergency situations only.
I've been here three or four times and I've never been impressed. I've never had the Mexican menu, only the Chinese food, and it's always been undercooked and over-greasy. I really prefer Great Wok two blocks up Lexington.
Yummers! This place is great! Inexpensive and delicious, just what I like. The Scallion pancakes were delicious. They were still crispy even after being delivered. The egg rolls are awesome, they had a great flavor to them. I took a star off since they put the ribs on top of the french fries....um....DUH! That's something you just dont do unless you like soggy limp french fries, which I don't (check the profile).
