The golf club at Newcastle is a perfect place to 1) get your golf lessons on! 2) eat at the delicious Calcutta Grill 3) enjoy the view, and 4) attend or hold a private event such as a wedding.

The golf club has a grill, which serves amazing food, and also has large dining areas [upstairs] for people who reserve private events.

The golf lessons/ranges are pricy but worth it.  My brother and father love coming here just to hit some golf balls.

I've attended prom at this place.  Again, the photos are amazing.  We had the sunset falling behind us during our pictures, creating a wonderful, colorful backdrop.  The elegant ballroom was a great place to hold the dance as well, since there were plenty of tables to sit at, and there was a hardwood dance floor, too.

I've seen many weddings done here, and they really look like a fairytale/dream come true.  The background views of Seattle and Bellevue are spectacular--beautiful place to take photos for a special occasion or just because.  Most times, a wedding reception is set up in a tent, which can get hot and mosquito-y (ew!), but it is worth it if you are looking for somewhere besides a church to get married in.

I wouldn't mind having my wedding here!

haven't actually golfed here, but the views are amazing and the mini-golf is only $10 for 18 holes with real grass.

Some day I'll golf here, but for now it's a dream

This review is for the signature golf course (coal creek) at the newcastle golf club. It is a spectacular course with views that are breathtaking. If the review was for sheer grandeur of the seattle skyline in the distance and the lovely views of lake wa & lake sammamish and the beautiful hillside surrounding newcastle, then I would give it 5 stars. But the review is for the actual course and i have to say that the course is not in good shape. In particular the greens are quite patchy and there is a lot of work going on at the course so many parts of the fairway are also not in great condition. I was also surprised at the amount of water logging on the course especially at a time when seattle hasn't had any rain in nearly a month. I wonder how the course will hold up later in the season when the rains start in earnest.

For a course that charges $125 as green fees, one does expect pristine playing conditions especially on the greens. I have to say that right now, I would rate the bellevue municipal course as superior when it comes to the condition of the greens. In all fairness, the course does acknowledge the issues and have a blog where they provide updates on the work that is going on to improve the playing conditions. The blog is called tee to green and is at http://www.newcastlego...

The other feedback i have on the course is that they have made it really hard to play with massive roughs all around the fairways. So even a slightly errant shot results in a lost ball. It is safe to say that an average golfer will lose at least a dozen balls during the round;.

Ahhhhh - I love you Golf Club at Newcastle!

My hubby and I got married here three years ago and it was fabulous. Gorgeous view of downtown Seattle, brilliant sunset, fun pool and cigar room, and of course - lovely green golf course through every window. The food was delicious and staff was impeccable. It was a 5 star night in every way possible. Ahhhhhhhhhh.  Lovely.

The golf course itself is spectacular, excellent lay out spread over a huge area. Very few holes that run side-by-side.

We arrived very early for a 6:55 am tee time and they were not ready yet. All of the employees were arriving with us, so we did not get the "country club" experience they promote. Unloaded my clubs and went into pro shop to pay. After I paid, we went to the covered range to hit some practice balls. I did not like hitting off the mats, but it is a good set-up.

And PAY I DID. My complaint is IT IS SO FAR OVERPRICED ---- $160 a person and $55 for rental clubs. The rental clubs made me the maddest.....NO WAY they should be that much when the club companies provide them. As for the cost of the round, its a $100.00 course.

I did enjoy the golf course itself, and there were only 2 holes that I just didn't like.

Next time I would much rather pay the same amount and play Chambers Bay where they are holding the US Open in 2015.

2 rounds, 1 rental set, 1 sleeve of ProVs = $427.05

Sadly, the only thing I can say about this place is that the staff is very friendly and nice. However, this is not the fault of the golf course.

This is actually a very up-scale looking and extremely nice gold course with a delicious smelling brunch buffet and a nice area on the second floor to have drinks. The staff is friendly and there are lots of seats everywhere for you to relax and enjoy yourself at the clubhouse. The clubhouse has some what of a Victorian/antique decor but overall is very quaint.

However, I went on a typical day in Seattle where the fog was so dense you could barely see 10 feet in front of you. So the best I could do was fine a postcard of what the view WOULD have looked like and tried to see my way through the misty fog. I'd come back here again for sure, but hopefully next time the weather will be nice!

The best job I have ever had was being the Beverage Cart Driver at the Golf Club at Newcastle.  Hands down, no question about it.  But since Beer Cart Girls tend to have a shelf life to their career, I decided to continue on with my degree at the end of that summer break from college and stick with my plan of architecture.

95% of the golfers I met were fabulously happy and classy folks, I mean who wouldn't be?  You're on probaly the most beautiful course in the region playing your favorite sport with friends, and here comes the beer cart!  For the 5% who were not fabulously happy, I was allowed to compensate them with free drinks, which usually worked.  However, not one to punish the good, I frequently comped things for the polite, too.  In return, I got awesome tips and thrilled customers.  Everyone's happy.  It's not rocket science.

Freddy Couples designed the course, and I was lucky enough to play it a few times.  Coal Creek was the only course open when I worked there, now they have China Creek too.  Views from both courses are truly amazing - you can see for miles.  It's almost a little distracting!  It's a pretty hilly course - walking this course would be for the hard core only.

I got to meet some semi celebs during pro-am tournaments, like Lynn Swan and the Groz from Sports Talk radio (that man can DRINK.  Four doubles on the front nine alone and still a perfectly straight shot teeing off on ten).

Trust me when I say it is worth it to shell out the greens fees to play here.  Just don't forget to tip your beer cart girl well - she might just take a free tequila shot with you if you do!

Give me a par 5!!!

anyhow, I've been going to newcastle for quite sometime now, and I must say it never seizes to amaze me on how beautiful this place is.

It's so beautiful I would be in a wedding held there just to be there, it is so beautiful I might get married just to be there keke.. but honestly the course is amazing, and the restaurant has some pretty amazing food as well.......

So clean your balls, and get ready for your handicap to go up kekeke it's not an easy course

I have never been to a place in Seattle, or the Eastside with views that even come close to the panoramic images from the Golf Club at Newcastle. The draw dropping begins as soon as you drive into the parking lot and peek over the edge to see an endless vision of the lakes, Puget Sound, Seattle skyline, and the ever growing Bellevue high-rises.

I am not a golfer by any means, but for $10 you can have your chance to feel like a country clubbing pro at their putt putt golf course that puts anything else you have ever taken a swing at to shame. With sand traps, beautiful green rolling hills, and breathtaking views, you get your chance to live the good life at this public course.

Finish the night with dinner and drinks at the Calcutta bar and grill where you will not be disappointed by the scene in front of you as the sun sets.

This has become one of my new favorite spot to bring out of towners, family, or go out for a date...a true hidden gem on the hill tops in Bellevue.

So put on your plaid pants (or jeans...no dress code at the putting range), and give this place a try...I promise it will be worth the drive!

I recently went here for a Wedding event, never played golf, and at best am an amateur mini golfer.

This place is drop dead gorgeous. You can see for miles and miles, the lake and the sound, nature and city... etc. Absolutely a great place for weddings, moments of engagement, posh round of golf, or impressing guests from out of town (There is a restaurant with views and Terrace seating)

The wedding was wonderful.
beautiful bride, groom, wedding party...etc
nice venue.
good food.

the only reason this place got 4/5 stars is... get this.. the cutlery that was used at the wedding was extremely banged up, the napkins and holes in them, and portions of the wedding tent used had some stains in the ceiling. For I'm sure what they charge to have a wedding there it probably could have been better.

Anywho.. I'd love to go back and play some putt putt there... (they do have a putt putt green, that also has great views)

I was here for a Charity Golf Event that my work sponsored.

For the important things:

1. Great View - so great it's Wowing!
2. Gorgeous Course
3. Fantastic Food
4.  Great Service
5.  World Class Experience

For the non important facts.  I am seeing someone who I appreciate greatly.  But holy shit any single girlfriends I have from now on I am sending to work at charity golf events.  It is like a beauty pageant for eligible bachelors that are not only successful, rich, hot, incredibly sweet, and are willing to do anything in their powers to get your attention.  I was one of four women there that day.  The others were daughters or significant others.  I am not easily flustered but I had so much positive attention that day that I was literally tongue tied 98% of the day.  I had a great time and learned a number of creative ways to say I'm seeing someone.  So ladies that are single put on your cutest khaki shorts and a tight little polo and start volunteering

The view overrides the food. Where else can you see all of Lake Washington along with Seattle and Puget Sound? The view is amazing. The staff is very professional and friendly. Show up in casual attire, this is a golf course remember. Or, dress up a bit to head to the Wooly Toad located upstairs. They do have a dress code and a good happy hour from 4-6 Monday through Friday. They have simple yet good food. Even vegetarians will find enough choices to entice their palate. The wines by the glass offer enough of a variation to satisfy the true wine lover. They also serve Mac and Jack's which is my favorite beer so that's also a plus. Watch out as their burgers are HUGE! Their Cobb salad is quite good with juicy and tender chicken. The sunset here is beautiful! Great place for a first date. Enjoy!

To clear up some confusion, the Golf Club is not a restaurant; it's a golf club that also rents space and provides catering for events such as weddings.  It has a restaurant on the premises, called Calcutta Grill, which is listed and reviewed separately. It has also has a lounge upstairs called the Wooly Toad, which used to be the Wooly Toad Cigar Bar, until Washington voters outlawed smoking in public places.  That is also listed and reviewed separately.

Having said all that, I went to a wedding here a couple years ago and it was very, very nice. The catering service provided nice food, nice service and great atmosphere. If you have the scratch.

The Yelp map does not show the club's correct location. For that, see the listing for Calcutta Grill.

There is no better view in the Seattle area, or for that matter...the state of Washington!
We usually head up just before sunset and have appetizers and a drink at the Wooley Toad. There are a few seats out on the deck, a perfect place for an intimate conversation and romantic sunset!
THE PLUS.....as the sun sets (from May to September) a bag piper plays out on the golf course. There is nothing better!

This review is for the spectacular view. We attended a wedding here and the service was in the hall and cocktails were served in the veranda. Your guests' jaws will drop when they first come here. The services for the weddings are excellent with great food and great service. I think you will be happy with your choice and if you are lucky to book this place, you will have a most wonderful time in such a beautiful place.

Good For: free gorgeous view, weddings

I have not played golf here, but I can tell you what the putting course is like.  It's an 18-hole course that uses real grass.  There are no obstacles (waterfalls, rocks, etc.) that you might find at a typical putt-putt course.  I think it's intended for those who want to practice putting for real.  Either way, it was fun to play on the putting course.  The view is magnificent.  If you go late, there is no one else playing so you can play at your own pace.
