I'm speaking strickly about the BAKERY. I love filipino cakes cuz their icing is indescribably delicious!! I never realized how easy it was to get to Goldilocks via transit (oops that might cause my waistline to expand).
I had a single-serving chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Savory, sweet, smooth, spongey... Yum, yum gimme some.
This bakery spot is perfect for any & everybody! Very kid-friendly and super spot for out-of-towners. -

Well...this place is a Filipino food restaurant. Goldilocks..what a name for restaurant but also bakery/pastry. lmao:D
I found this place accidentally while I was in that area while working a special project.
The service is good. The place is organize and clean. Filipinos working there are all friendly. From that lovely ladies in the cashier up to the guy in the kitchen whom I presume is the cook. I love the way they explain to me what kind of Filipino dishes they serve. I know lumpia is one their Filipino dishes but the adobo ( I have ask them the right spelling coz I have to remember it) ..wow..it's taste good. The price is kinda expensive but it worth of eating here. I even purchased fresh lumpia for my take home dinner for my girlfriend. The only thing I noticed there's a dead fried fish. But actually its a fried fish..I think they mentioned tilapia fish. Oh well..bottom line..its a nice place to eat if you like Filipino food. -

Ok so get this. A while back my ex came here with his friend and their family to eat here. He decided to order the chicken adobo since that's always good to eat because it's simple and he wouldn't be surprised about what ingredients put in it. As he started to take a bite, he noticed that there was something moving in his food! Apparently the meat was tainted with maggots! Yes MAGGOTS! He tells the manager and waiter to look at his plate and they have the nerve to say that that was one of the ingredients! TFC was all over this story and I was rolling on the floor laughing.
Honestly this is not a Filipino eatery. It's a joke! If you want real Filipino food I suggest Karilagan's on El Camino Real Blvd or Kuya's Cuisine. These are family owned and have really great food -

Founded almost fifty years ago, Goldilocks has traditionally been the de facto specialty bake shop for Manila society. Birthdays, weddings, baptismal, etc. cakes were (and are still) custom ordered from Goldilocks (prior to proliferation of competitors in the 70s such as "Cookie Monster', Red Ribbon, etc.). Goldilocks has been a part of a far away childhood birthday pasts of Disney theme cakes, princess figurines, and the likes. In addition to special occassion cakes, it has been the place to go for authentic and fresh native desserts such as sapin-sapin, palitaw, ensaymada, mamon (soft sponge cake that melts on your mouth) ... and many others.
Absolutely without a doubt, people tend to gravitate towards the dessert and sweets produced by Goldilocks over the fast food Filipino dishes on sale. Per the other reviewers, the dessert and sweets are impeccable; yet the Filipino entree, may not be of restaurant quality.
In the bay area, the best Filipino restaurants are usually found in your parents' kitchen (especially if you have a cook imported from the Philippines) or your Filipino friends' home cooking. However, from a Filipino fast food standpoint, IMHO, Goldilocks' selection of quick pinoy entree's are not bad, at least for those with a native Filipino pallette. When one has a sudden craving for kare-kare with bagoong (similar to ancient Roman small shrimp paste-based dish called garum), inihaw na baboy (grilled pork), sinigang (tamarind based soup), pansit malabon (type of filipino noodle), lechon kawali, the exotic chicharong bulaklak, etc.; I would say Goldilocks' is capable of quickly satisfying the craving for native dishes. Overall well maintained and clean. A Very Filipino-style atmosphere.Listed in: pinoy establishments

Goldi-cocks.
What a poor experience for (pardon my tagalog) OVERFCKNGPRICED ASS, Ti-ti, Pek-pek.. Filipino "cuisine". I wouldn't even feed this shit to my dog (if I had one). Part of me feels horrible for complaining about the food; when, there are starving children in the Philippines (and Africa and China). Only, here in America, do we complain about food. But, I wouldn't even feed hungry Filipino, African, & Chinese children w/Goldilocks food.
Their BBQ isn't as good as it was back in the day. My dad makes superlative Filipino BBQ. That not an opinion, that's a fact! In fact, my parents should have opened up a Filipino restaurant of their own.
They used to be (and esp the So City location), known for the Palabok. For you non-Filipinos, it's the white noodles w/that yellow/orange sauce.
Of course, DON'T EVER FALL FOR THE "Ooh wheech one? Oh Dat won? Oh dat's Jast Choco late meat!"
Cause that shit ain't chocolate meat, YO.
That's stewed pig ears and intestines in pork blood!
Go to ONG PIN in So City! They have waaay better Filipino food. And, the portions are HUGE! -
Review from Arlene C.

After several unsuccessful attempts at finding a parking space, I lucked out today. The selection of hot foods was pretty disappointing, and one of the pork dishes looked like chunks of piggy fat...yuck. I decided on the Beef Kaldereta, a beef stew made with carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes and bay leaves, that has a little kick to it. Sotonghan Pancit is decent, but a little bland and nothing to write home about. The Shanghai Lumpia comes with a sweet & sour sauce, not the traditional garlic vinegar dipping sauce.
I think I agree with others to stick to the baked goods, although compared to Chinese bakeries, it's a lot more expensive here.
As usual, when I ask for items by the Tagalog name, they always continue to speak to me in Tagalog and they lose me....huh? -

Its a shame that a place possessing so much nostalgic value has started to deteriorate in quality. Take for example the entrees- they look like they've been heated up so many times- you cant tell what it is anymore...I dont like to order soup that is lukewarm either :( There are plenty of other places that can do some justice...
On the other hand- their pastries, cakes and bread are still enjoyable- still my favorite are the ensemadas and empanadas- hence the 2 stars...But please do something about your deli meals!!!Listed in: Mission St. whereabouts....

Alam ko ang Puti ako.. pero.... I was raised by filipinos all my life and speak tagalog since the age of 8yrs old. So I've had alot of experience eating filipino food. One thing that i can never never get enough of is Empanada and Brazzo del mercedes. The brazzo was fine....(standard quality). However the Empanadas???? my god they were horrible. (dry, half assed, and not glazed whatsoever) I wish the brazzo came in a 1/4 size instead a choice between a whole Cake, or 1/2. Sometimes 1/4 would be fine for a quick treat. The empanadas were very very dry and didn't taste right at all. If you ever have a craving for them I recommend going to Red Ribbon Instead..
I just have to respond to "chris c." comment below. Racial intolerance? I'm a fluent tagalog speaker who's puting puti and speaks english with an accent. I get LOTS of stares, and no matter how good i am in speaking I always get asked why i decided to learn, which is funny because my Auntie is pinay, and taught me as a child....but 5 mins into the conversation Filipinos can be the nicest people you'll ever meet. (considering you know the language of course). Not everyone can be apart of ALL cultures. If you put in the effort of understanding or in my case (raised by them) you'll find you get what you put into it. -

You can't ever screw up Tocino, Rice and an Egg. Other than that, if you want really good filipino food, I'll take you to my mom's house.

I go to Goldilocks whenever I crave a mocha cake or roll. The thing that I could not understand is why they put "macapuno" (sweetened coconut preserve) in those mocha rolls. The filipino dishes are alright, all members of my family cook and we cook really good filipino dishes but once in a while we get lazy and will just order "to go" and we either consider Kuya's or Fil-Am. Yes all food are greasy that's how the dishes are after all its all the Spanish and Chinese influences that made it all greasy.
The one thing I hate about going to this joint are the staff, although they do their usual greetings you can always sense the insincerity. And i dont know why they always have to ask whether you need spoon and fork and napkins...I am ordering it to go, it doesnt matter whether I am eating it at home or at the park the fact that its "to go" they should be packing it with whatever things that it should go with when you order food "to go"...you dont get that from chinese restaurants when you order "to go" it always comes with teh chopsticks or fork and soy sauce and fortune cookie...they just put it all in your bag and besides they have the cheapest dixie cups and spoon and forks anyway so its not like they're losing so much money if they put those in.
Sorry Manongs and Manangs who work here but you have to do better with your "customer service". If you go here you would always notice that only filipinos come here...I wonder why?
Again, food is alright if you're filipino and getting the craving other than that you can go somewhere else...but wait where is somewhere else...*sigh -

Subic Bay had a smell too hard to describe, so does Goldilocks.
It must be the fryer!
The baked goods are great just stay away from the fast food. If the thought of hot lumpia on a cold day sounds good....stay strong...it won't be as good as Tita made. -
Review from Dessa S.

Overpriced for small portions, their cakes are dry & the frosting is like pure sugar with food coloring, their food is a disgrace to the name of Filipino food but most importantly every time I eat here their food gives me the runs.
People who like this place DON'T KNOW what real home cooked Filipino food tastes like. Catch me at Red Ribbon INSTEAD! -

Okay, I know I'm being a little biased but, if you're a filipino, then this place is a definite must visit. The cashiers were nice, and the food was what I've been missing. The food isn't exactly how my gramma used to make them, but it's the same taste compare to the Goldilocks in the Philippines.

Crap SERVICE and bad attitude.
They're food tastes like it was made in a huge processing plant and distributed to all the other franchises throughout Goldilocks Land.
I guess they have a strong reputation in the Philippines, but here, forget it.
One star for their good polvoron, good but pricey. -

This place has been known for their baking skills -
that's it.
I like the cakes since they are not super sweet like the American stuff you get at the grocery store.
Don't come here for Filipino food cus it ain't good nor is it fresh. -

The cultural drama that unfolds everyday in this diverse expansive city is truly a wonderous experiment in sociology. With that said, I must say I was very disappointed in the rude service and the extreme prices. The quality of the food was also seemingly lacking. I am by no means a health inspector but, I dont think you have to be one to realize this place is not clean.
Its strange when you go into a business and you actually sense racial intolerance. I hope that business's like this one realize that they have to be polite and respectful of customers or they wont have any eventually. The most successful places I see, I believe get successful in part by offering their product while welcoming in a friendly manor ANY paying customer of any color, race, or language speaking. Putit (whitey)will not be going back to bastos(rude) bakery. -

The only think I liked about Goldilocks are some of the cakes.. not all.. just some. They are expensive and really not worth what you pay for. If you eat in, be prepared to eat some unauthentic dishes. I didn't care much for their food.
Very pretentious servers. -

When you're in the Philippines, go to Goldilocks. When you're in San Francisco, try Red Ribbon and Max's first. But you have to leave the city to do it. If you don't feel like leaving the city and, oh yes, you live far away from your mom's homecooking, Goldilocks is OK.

Review from Bella B.
Horrid service for the most part, the food is pretty good. I normally get it delivered by WOW so I don't even worry about dealing with them. The desserts are good so I will be nice and give em a 3, but they probably only deserve a 2. LOL

i never liked goldilocks. their food tastes like a whole batch was cooked in the morning, and they just keep reheating the food the whole day. the food is WAYYYYY overpriced, and the portions are small. oh, and the chicken adobo sucks.
the pastries are okay...the puto is so-so, the cakes are nothing special. -

Review from Jane A.
OVER-rated. Filipinos deprived from filipino bake shops think this is the place to get their goodies. As much as I'd love to support my fellow community and their uprising but I have to drop my two centos. Their turo-turo food is not good, dried out.

Goldilocks is more Famous for their BAD SERVICE than their cakes and pastries. I've noticed that a lot of fellow Filipinos left their very honest feedback. I appreciate that, but i'm going to keep it real. Ok, Thank you.

Goldilock's is a Filipino food chain that I never really enjoyed. There are definitely other Filipino places better than this place in terms of food and price. Their birthday cakes use to be popular, but now that there is a Red Ribbon in Daly City people seem to like that better. Definitely not the best place for Filipino.

My mom buys Chicken Adobo for me every once in awhile. But yeah, it is quite greasy there and yes definetely a ltitle overpriced. All in all, it's whatever though. If its close by to you, it doesn't hurt to come by occasionally for convienence. What do I mean by pricey though? They give you about 3 or 4 pieces of chicken adobo in a styrofoam tub.. Only two of them really have meat, and you have to pay around $6.00 for that.

When I think how cool it would be to be filipino... I do one of two things... go to goldilocks.. or talk to Jeramie Tolentino... both are greasy, and have bad taste.... Thank something for making me a smelly, grass cutting, plate washing, child watching, orange selling mexican.

Been going here for years. Adobo is always good, a little too oily but still good. Portions are good if you're on a diet. Everything is expensive. Service is not great, but I really don't care about service when the mocha rolls are on my mind.
