Ahhh, if you have not been, you need to go. This place is a mad house of power charged energic nuts who are just asking to be people watched. You may even see some basketball, and have a 24oz beer while you are at it. The next thing you know, you just might be hooked a Warriors fan like everyone else. "Do it, do it, do it...."

"Basketball is now jazz" Bethlehem Shoals famously wrote a year ago.

He was right is more ways than he thought. Last year's Warrior squad was not meant to last. It was too odd, too different. It destroyed all semblance of basketball theory with mindblowing levels of improvisation and strange combinations of players.
But Things Fall Apart. The center cannot hold. As Boom Dizzle takes his beard and bullet fedora to other places the Warriors are left again, in pieces, and we are left missing the music.
Agent Zero, our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

Either through bad luck or a bad trade, we lost J-Rich, Chris Webber, Mitch Richmond, Tim Hardaway, Bernard King, Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and now Baron Davis.
Baron Davis brought the Warriors back onto the basketball landscape. No one even knew who the hell we were. Thanks in large part to his efforts, Dallas found out who the hell we were during the 2007 playoffs. Furthermore, a nation figured out that there was in fact, another California basketball team outside of Tinseltown when Baron dunked over Kirilenko during the 2nd round playoffs. WE BELIEVED!
Baron was definitely not the smartest guy (in terms of taking shots), the best free throw shooter, or the fastest player on the court. But he brought Warrior fans, hope. We had a chance to win every night with him on the court. He brought intangibles to our 'small-market' team. He had B-A-L-L-S. BIG B-R-A-S-S balls. He drove the lane with reckless abandon. The same abandon that we haven't seen since the days of the killer crossover. He was the heart and soul of this team. He will sorely be missed. The Warriors are (or were) a young and upcoming team. Now they have no direction. Stephen Jackson is not a leader. Al Harrington is not a leader. We will be relying upon 22 year old kids to lead this team now. Some prognosticators are predicting a 30-35 win team next year. One can only guess that this is a best case scenario in the ultra-competitive Western Conference.
Although I dislike, no hate LA teams with a passion----the Dodgers, the Rams, the Angels, and the Lakers---I will continue to root for Baron Davis. He was our go to guy when there were only few seconds left on the clock. Everyone in the arena as well as those at home knew full well that HE was going to get the ball and take the last shot. And MAKE it.
During the final days to decide on whether to take the $17 million or run, in true Baron Davis-like fashion, he waited until the very last second to take the shot. As always, it went in. The only difference? This time he scored for the enemy.

What is left for this die-hard Warrior fan? I guess hope. This is the same hope that the 7"4 lithe Ralph Sampson brought. The same hope that collegiate mega-star Billy Owens wrapped with a big red bow. The same hope that Rony Seikly..uh never mind. This is same hope that the next "this is the player that will take us over the top" will bring. For that, hope is worth 5 huge Yelp stars.

When I was a wee little girl my father had ingrained in me a deep passion and love for San Francisco Bay Area sports teams. Mostly the 49ers and Joe Montana. You see, I was born during the exact time with Joe Montana threw the game winning touchdown against the LA Rams (yes, that's the right team). It was their first time making it into the playoffs in 22 years (and it was the 22nd). Clearly, I was Joe's 'good luck baby' and year after year, season after season, I loved my SF Bay Area sports teams.
On April 22, 1993, my dreams were crushed. With tears streaming down my face, my father sat me down and told me some terrible news. Joe Montana was leaving the 49ers and his team for the St. Louis Rams. WHAT!?!? How can he leave us Dad? How can he announce this on the 22nd? That's OUR lucky number! I cried for weeks. From that moment on I felt a bitter taste whenever cheering for any team as I saw player after player get traded, leave, etc.
But then... after two back-to-back intense seasons with the Warriors, I saw the spirit Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson emulated. After seeing this dunk, http://www.youtube.com... , I was hooked.
I BELIEVED!!!!
And now... my dreams are once again crushed. I want to cry, yell, scream, and question whether anyone has any faith anymore. Where's the team loyalty? Where's the respect. Warriors - if he's leaving for more money, then pay him more. Baron - get off your high horse and show the Bay some love!

i was at game 3 and the dubs rule! BELIEVE!
IF YOU BELIEVE that the warriors won't win a championship in our time well then you are truly realistic.
the nba is defiantly not as exciting and true to the game as it was when i was growing up. just like baseball this sport has seen it's best and the worst is yet to come. i admit i used to like to go to games back in the day to see the greats like jordan, olajuwon , wilkins, barkley, robinson, bird and so on. the game is just too darn flashy and all about the mighty dollar these days.
the warriors have never really had a truly solid superstar of a team that can continue to win games. the warrior fans have so many band wagon fans it's crazy.
if i had to sit through a game these days i'm looking for leah, jessica or lynsi out on the floor shaking their warrior girl butts. if you want exciting the nfl is about one of the last great sports out there.

I've been a Warriors fan since the Nate Thurmond, Rick Barry days. Yeah, that's right a long damned time! They have had their ups and downs just like any other team but in recent years it had been mostly down. Especially between the Don Nelson Eras (1 and 2). I was excited when Chris Mullin brought Don back because he can run an offense. Even during DNE1 when they had Run TMC they were exciting although it didn't translate into championship banners. Loved watching them play though.
Now, DNE2 is just too damned much fun. These kids can play and I don't really care that they don't have a bona fide big man in the paint I love the team. The whole league knows that the Warriors were THE story of last years playoffs and I can imagine they were probably hoping that the Warriors would beat the Jazz. Too exciting! This year it's more of the same and we all hope that they hang on to that playoff spot.
I've only been to four games this year but they've all been a blast. Both Lakers games, a Hornet game and a Heat game. Each was pretty damned entertaining. They were 2-2 in those games but I left having seen some exciting b-ball. My son and I went to the Laker game the other night and watched as they lost their lead, clawed their way back to tie it in regulation and then get jobbed in OT on a bogus offensive foul (ask Derek Fisher dammit!). There were some great plays in that game on both sides of the court. You get good bang for your bucks at a Warriors game in my opinion. Enjoy 'em while Baron, Stephen, Monta, Andris, Al, Matt, Kelenna, Mickael, Brandan, C.J. , Austin, Marco, Kosta and Patrick are still around with DN coaching them.
UPDATE:
Well, it was fun while it lasted. So close, SO CLOSE to making the playoffs again. The West was tough and I think our boys just ran our of gas toward the end . Especially the starters. Maybe Nelson will use more of his bench next year. I thought the youngsters played well when given the chance. We'll see what the draft, free agency and all of the big money off-season stuff brings. I still love this team. Good job fellas! Looking forward to next year!

Living most of my life in Chicago, I was around for the Michael Jordan era and always rooted for the Bulls. However upon re-locating to Oakland I realized it couldn't hurt to have a Western Conference NBA team to root for, and so I've been on the W's bandwagon ever since!
The past two seasons have been so exciting to watch, particularly from last year's playoff run on. I can't ever remember seeing a more riveting, edge-of-your-seat season then this one, and like I said I sat through the entire MJ era in Chicago. The Dubs ability to play and win as a team really sets them apart from some of the other star-driven teams out there. I love the rapport between our starting five of Davis/ Ellis/ Jackson/ Harrington and Beidrens and our legendary Coach Nellie. Golden State plays exciting, up-tempo basketball that is absolutely thrilling to watch when everything is going their way and the threes are falling.
I'm withholding a star, however, due to their inability to improve before the trade deadline while other teams in their division did exactly that. I think one or two good additions would have put us squarely in the playoffs this year instead of the nine seed. Oh well, better luck next year Warriors.
Baseball? Not really my thing....Football? Eh...sometimes my thing...Basketball? Always my thing! I love the Warriors. When you get off of work or have a free weekend, going to a basketball to watch the Warriors play never disappoints. Let's go Warriors! Lets go! *Clap Clap*
One star for them always getting too comfortable when their in the lead.
The only reason I'm not giving the Warriors five stars is because I have to frickin break my back to get decent tickets to their games. Is it too much to ask for courtside seats to magically fall into my lap? :)Winning, losing, whatever (preferably winning) I find the Warriors to be a very captivating basketball team. Love the players, love the coach, just wish I was able to see more live games, and have better seats, and have Baron Davis blow me kisses. Go Warriors!!
Call me, Baron!

I've sat through all your bullshit for over 15 years and again you fail me with another non playoff appearance!
Let's face it, one playoff berth in the past 15 years doesn't warrant 5 stars. They've been a poorly run franchise that started jacking up prices once they started winning more than 25 games. Thanks GSW!!!
This is dedicated to all the shitty players that I had the privledge to watch over the years: Tom Gugliotta, Billy Owens, Chris Porter, Todd Fuller, Winston Garland, Alton Lister, Donyell Marshall, Joe Smith, Ricky Pierce, Jason Caffey, Tony Delk, Adonal Foyle, Danny Fortson, Adam Keefe, Bob Sura and many many many more.
Ok Ok, it's been fun the past two years so keep it up, maybe i'll change my rating. Good luck in the draft lottery, say what's up to the Clippers for me!
Shoutout to Larry Smith, he signed my A's magazine back in the day in 1990!!
You can't blame them for not being exciting. They might play down to some of their opponents, but how can you complain when they're down 23 points to a subpar team that's on a 7 game losing streak and come back to win the game with the help of a pivotal three by Steven Jackson? I'm not the biggest basketball fan, but I have to say the most exiciting sporting event I've EVER been to was the Game 5 clincher against the Dallas Mavericks in Round 1 of the 2007 Playoffs.
And when you're at the Oracle, you have to go to Ribs and Things for the BEST meal in the Arena: http://www.yelp.com/bi...

"I lub the GS Dub's!" I've been a fan since the Run TMC days and various sidekicks like the crazy Lithuanian Sarunas Marciulionis, stick thin Rod Higgins, and Super Mario Elie. Who remembers marginal players like Vincent Askew, Paul Mokeski, and Keith "Mister" Jennings? Sadly, I do. That's how big a fan I am. I've stuck with them through thick (Run TMC seasons, Webber rookie season, 2007-present) and thin (every lottery season in between).
I'm so happy Nellie is back and we have our cast of characters like Capn' Jack, BDiddy, and Monta. With other young players like Belinelli, Wright, and Biedrins to accompany Ellis, the future looks bright for the GS Dubs. The playoffs are coming so everyone get their yellow T-shirts out and support the best NBA team we've had around here in a long time.

Did you see the game last night?
That's a common question I ask fellow Warriors fans because we have this in common, no matter what we love Golden State and recently, more often than not they have come through in a clutch to be victorious. These games are no doubt stressful when you are watching the other team take the lead early on but then the momentum shifts to Golden State and suddenly the opposing team is getting stomped on by Baron Davis high on his second wind and Ellis's smooth-makes-it-look-easy approach.
Last nights game was no different, they sent Indiana home with their tails between their legs, namely Tinsley, who in a very unsportsmanlike way bumped Ellis awake. From then on it was Indiana's demise. Thanks Tinsley.
It wasn't a nice game, there were tons of missed free throws and awful 3 point attempts by Golden State but by god they won! Lately they have been coming through and it's nice to see Ellis playing basketball the way he knows he can.
There were a lot of years where we watched GS just glad when they came close and grateful we could get free tickets then because no one else was interested and now here we are, the fans, sharing this time together in appreciation of our Warriors and it feels so good.

sorry, roundball doesn't do it for me anymore. the rick barry days, yes.
didn't care much for rick after he stopped playing, btw.
Happy times are here again. Brings back memories of Run TMC. Baron Davis is the incarnation of Tim Hardaway, only a better, stronger version. He is an ALL STAR in my book. Gotta love Andres Biedrins' determination and has improved his Free Throws tremendously. Stephen Jackson is just unconscious. Monta, Monta, Monta...what more can I say? The bench is awesome from Special K, Matt Barnes, Al Harrington and so on.
And this team has one thing that a lot a NBA Franchises don't have...an NBA Title. If you want to go old school, we can talk about Al Attles, Rick Barry, Nate Thurmond, Jerry Lucas and even Wilt Chamberlain. And I have a special heart for Manute Bol and Mugsy Bogues. At one time, we had the tallest and shortest players in the game. That's gotta be in the Guinness Book of World Records.
I just hope Chris Webber does not ruin our current Team Chemistry.

I love the Warriors. My girlfriend and I will be back at the Oracle in March to see them play the Lakers. Tickets are getting a bit pricey, since they raise the costs each season but still affordable, even without any special deals or coupons. Players actually care about the team and community. Great coaching and personnel, especially the big Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington trade a few seasons back. It wasn't like this for a long time and the fans have remained faithful ever since. Maybe a bit too faithful, but there is no question that the fans love the team and want them to succeed all the way, despite the challenges they face from the other and better Western Conference teams. They really are the Cincinnati Bengals of the NBA without the off-field issues. One star deducted for playing absolutely no defense, but you can't really expect that from a team coached by Don Nelson.
What other American sports franchise could make the front page of the Tehran Times sports section for a story that didn't involved sketchiness and law breaking?
How do I know? That's where I was during the Warriors' glorious playoff run, and believe me, people were interested.
I love the Warriors, always have, but until last year I felt like an ugly sophomore with braces and a training bra that just keeps smiling at the captain of the football team, and not only have I put him way high on a pedestal, he sucks at throwing the ball.
But that's all changed, and the Warriors are fun again. Just in time, too, since I doubt I will ever see the A's have another good season while at the Coliseum.
I've been to some great games over the years, and had some chance encounters with some of the Warriors. Mully, Hardaway, Billy Owens.
Is there a more interesting franchise in the NBA? No chance.
Now if only we could get rid of the current ownership and Jim Barnett, we'd be set.

I cannot forgive Nelly for the demise of the "Dream Team" which consisted of Hardaway, Mullie, Spree, Webb, etc. Ego! Ego! Ego! Let go of my waffle.
And no, I won't get over it.
But Nelly has indeed mellowed through the years and as a result, it's a mutal respect between coach and player.
Aside from the entertaining "run and gun" style, stop shooting random and reckless threes and focus on D for crissakes.
I will always support the Warriors.

After years and years of losing, we are finally back. Although we aren't in the national spotlight just yet, we are well on our way, especially thanks to last year's magical run.
Gone are the years of being blown out in the first half and making crappy lottery picks and trading away players only to see them blossom as all stars. We finally have a young and exciting team that can do things.
I'm proud to say that I've been a Dubs fan through the good times and the bad and even though I live in Dallas now, I'll be reppin the Bay and sporting my Warriors jersey while watching our team crush the hearts of Mavs fans while they choke yet again.

So many phenomenal memories of watching these guys. I am 6'6", played ball, and was lucky enough to hit some of these games with my pop. The team is widely considered the most watchable team in the whole sport right now, and I remember the days before the decline.... and have been a fan ever since.
Mullin, Hardaway, Manute, Sarunas..... I could go on and on, but you get the idea. There is a warm nostalgia there for me... like watching the sweat poor off some of our favourite athletes, and feeling the sweat recoil from the floor as it hits, popping back up into the air producing the sickly sweet smell of sweat in a gym.....
Ahh the old days.
Also... we usually got tickets when the Mavs were in town, and there was a guy behind us at EVERY game that would sit there and berate the Mavs coach the whole time. Some of the best taunting I have ever heard...
"NO ONE WEARS BROWN SHOES WITH A BLUE BLAZER YOU JACKASS"
It actually got the Mav's coach flustered now and again when he would get a really good zinger. Good times folks.
Thanks, Reuben, for the tickets!
I went to my first Warrior game last Friday night. In the middle of watching them beat the Grizzlies, I also enjoyed some beer with my delish garlic fries. The ranch dressing sucked, but the ketchup made up for it. I like to try the different foods when I go to sporting events, but seeing how I just had dinner at home, there was no room for anything besides the fries. Everyone knows there's always room for fries.
Great game and great fries!
Watching and rooting for the Warriors can only be described as being infectious. That is a good thing, they can keep you at the edge of your seat every time they play, and often they can make a last minute charge before the end of the game. As a season ticket holder this style of play can make for some very heart breaking losses but also some amazing and jaw dropping victories. I love how supportive the warriors fans can be during the games, the only thing that bugs me are these "fans" that show up, to socialize not bothering to watch the game, and block the our views and are usually the first ones to leave in the last 3 or 4 minutes... The only other thing is some people do need to show a bit of fan courtesy, when you are sitting in the bleachers leaning forward the people behind you can't see, I'm glad you get are getting into the game but show some love to your other fellow warriors fans. Any case, moving on, Warriors are awesome, I love how we surprised many by beating Boston the other night and set the west coast attendance record of the standing room only crowd of 20,711 people! My only gripe is that we really need to stop losing to teams like Chicago, Minnesota and more recently Atlanta... I am glad so many people cheered throughout the whole game for Jason Richardson when he came back into town a few weeks ago! Keep up the Warrior spirit! Golden State of Mind rocks!!!!!

As a child with Rick Berry, Bernard King and the dolphin life saving center Clifford Ray, to Chris Mullin, Sleepy Floyd, JB Carol, Timmy H., Mitch Richmond....so many to name.
Great team colors, cool mascot and always on the verge of promise.
Love the team now, fun and exciting and winning. Even in losing though, and starting over- I gotta BELIEVE - in the team representing the Bay Area -
your Golden State Warriors!
Not gonna lie, I'm a new Warriors fan. I moved to the Bay Area after college almost 4 years ago and decided, since my hometown of KC doesn't have an NBA franchise, it was as good a time as any to get a new, favorite team. I watched them struggle for the first year and a half and then we got Baron. I was instantly more interested (as was the rest of the Bay) and found myself talking about them with such excitement I normally hold for my dear UofA Wildcats, Chiefs, and (don't laugh) Royals.
I met my girlfriend last year and we started to go to the games much more regularly. It didn't hurt that her company had a luxury box :)
Then, it happened.
We made the playoffs, drew the Mavs, and proceeded to ride the We Believe mantra right through the favored opponent. I have NEVER, EVER seen a place that electric and thinking about it still gives me the chills. The Warriors have blossomed along with my relationship and I can't wait for many more great years of fun as this team finally brings some pride to the recently lackluster Bay Area sports world.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. These guys are legit.
So I need a new team now that I have made my home here in Oakland....I followed the team last season and I am really impressed...they play by the seat of their pants.....i love that style....
So now me and some friends are trying to get a luxury box for the season..hopefully we can...of course we might need some more "friends", so if anyone is interested let a brotha know...

I've always enjoyed watching the Warriors, through thick and thin. They were always exciting to watch. Over the years, it seems like all the best players got their start in Oakland. I could always count on them to upset a team like the Lakers at home...but then I would always expect them to not close a game. This year however, we're finally treated to a team that really gels together...Davis, Jackson, Richardson, Ellis, Barnes, Harrington, Biedrins, and Pietrus. It's this roster which is making us Warrior fans proud again. They've made history at being the #8 seed that was able to take out the #1 Dallas Maverick's convincingly. There's nothing like playoff time. Go Warriors!

I grew up in the OC, and watching Magic and the Lakers take on Bird and the Celtics and the Bad Boyz-era Pistons was as close to a family bonding experience as we could muster. Upon moving to the Bay Area five years ago from Virginia, I was faced with some difficult conflicts of interest and emotion. The Warriors quickly won my heart with their under-dog status and penchant for making even the worst losses entertaining until the last whistle, but how can you root for two teams in the same division? How do you call yourself a fan of directly opposing teams?
Well, I still haven't worked that one out... but, because I live here in San Francisco, and I love, am madly obsessed with, am borderline psychotic about, Warriors basketball, I consider myself a Warriors fan.
I have been with them through the Musselman/Montgomery days of hopeless obsolescence (case in point: I'm still a big Brian Cardinal fan). I rode the high of the Baron Davis acquisition to the low of their full-page Chronicle apology for choking big-time and not making the playoffs in 2006. I cheered Nellie's return, the swift departure of the Dun-Murphy sisters (though I do have pity for them, now wallowing in obscurity in Indiana...), and the arrival of Jack and Al, but I almost cried when they dealt J- Rich to the Bobcats (as he has been the heart and soul of the team for several years, and now he's back to square one with a mediocre East Coast squad), though I understand the importance of being able to retain their young stars in Monta and Andris. I screamed my guts out through the first two rounds of the playoffs last season, fortunate to attend the first NBA playoff game in Oakland in over a decade, and I will certainly be in attendance this year as they return to the post-season.
I love the Warriors, and I'll cheer for them over the Lakers any day of the week.
NOTE: I think they should change their name to the Oakland Warriors.
