REALLY good Chinese food in South Dakota.  Go figya!  I'd been in the Heartland for two weeks and was a little homesick.  I couldn't look at another steak or chicken-fried anything.  Hungry for a little Asian food fix, I hailed Mary and took a chance on Golden Phoenix.  It was really good!  Not just "good for this part of the country" good--good enough to stand on its own!  I'm relatively snobbish about my Chinese food, and am often disappointed even in San Francisco.  (Oakland's Chinatown is so much better. But I digress...)

I had a combo platter for $10.  Kung pao beef that was just a little spicy with fresh, crunchy snow peas, a scoop of fried rice, egg roll, chicken wing, and some damned fine hot and sour soup.  I really enjoyed my meal despite service that was a bit sluggish, though very apologetic.

We went for lunch.  Service was quick and friendly.  Portion size was HUGE.  Lunch special for $6.25 includes, choice of soup, choice of entree, fried rice, wonton and egg roll.  We each took half home and had it for dinner.
