Dined here on a Friday and they were opened at 11:30 AM and the service was friendly and dim sum was available on weekdays which is a huge plus. Have dined here when I'm vacationing here in CT.
The shui mai, har gow dumplings and the steamed shrimp rice rolls were all good. The baked char sui bao was fresh and tasty.
The ambiance was clean and we arrived earlier to beat the crowds.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 28, 2024
I loved that there was a variety of different dim sum dishes to choose from. We were seated right away. Plenty of seating. The guy got us our choice of tea soon after and the food was good.
We had a good experience each time.
Service- they were nearby and I was able to flag them for hot oil, napkins and more water.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 29, 2023
Not bad dim sum for my first time
Girlfriend really wanted me to try a true dim sum experience. One where they go around with a cart and you grab n go. Not too many places in CT offer dim sum, and this came up as one of the best. So we made the trek to give them a try.
The location is nice. It's close to the casino but not too close. Inside and outside are well decorated and there's no mistaking this place from any side.
The staff were not very hospitable. They were very much in rush mode so any semblance of kindness were out the window. It was very much, "here's your sheet" then left you at the cashier for you to figure out your own seating arrangement.
We managed to find a place to sit, then began to go through the list. My girlfriend was a little bummed out that they didn't do the carts anymore, but we checked off what we wanted and waited for the items to arrive.
First off, the plates were pretty big. The portions were plentiful, way more than we thought we would get for the price paid. We had to sample everything and a lot went to waste sadly.
For me, the best bite was the duck egg bao. Was rich, creamy, sweet, and runny. The warm bao bun was the pillowly egg yolk delivery vessel, and it was messy but in the best way.
The chicken wings were also well cooked and fairly large. They didn't have much flavor, but they were good wings.
The rest? We ordered a lot but whatever item you got pretty much blended together. Most of the items ordered had this pork and shrimp mix, and it pretty much tasted like that too. The only difference being the wrapper.
Overall, not bad. Some tasty bites but lots of similar itemsHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 3, 2024Updated review
Went for lunch with a friend. I got the chicken cashew without broccoli and beef fried rice. They both were delicious. And plenty of food. Plus the Chinese chips and duck sauce. Hot tea. This is my favorite place when I am wanting Chinese food. The owner is very friendly and nice.

Food is always good. Very reasonably priced. There is a bar so if you want some alcohol to go with it you got it. My grand kids love this place better then any other in a 50 mile radius. Seems like they are always open. The new bathroom is now handicapped accessible.

The food is amazing--authentic and delicious, with some interesting options you can't find in most restaurants--and the owner is friendly and warm. I highly recommend eating in, not taking out, because the dim sum is worth it. The decor seems inspired by the region in which the owner grew up. The service is hit-or-miss, but they're fast, so you're never waiting long.

The food was actually pretty good, but the service was not. My friend and I did not have a pleasant experience from getting seated at the table to getting the check.
Starting with the food, the Zucchini and Chicken w/ Garlic Sauce was very tasty, and it went really well with the Vegetable Chow Mein. I appreciated how there was a huge amount of vegetables in each dish, so I didn't have to eat a lot of rice.
Unfortunately, the service did not keep up with the food. When my friend and I sat down, the waitress asked us if we wanted hot tea in Cantonese. My friend and I are Korean, so we didn't understand that. After that, they gave us hot tea and a fork (keep in mind, the table was already set up with a plate and chopsticks). We never had that happen in our lives. Then, we ordered our food. The waitress says "You know Chow Mein doesn't come with noodles right?" I'm sure the waitress was asking to make sure we knew what we were ordering, but we definitely know what we were ordering. Then, we finished our food and waited for 45min for the waitress to come by our table for the check. We couldn't wave her down. The food came out decently fast, but the service was very slow.
There is parking space outside the restaurant, so you don't need to leave your home early to find parking. I hope this experience doesn't occur to anyone else when they come here because the food was pretty good. It's just a pity that the service doesn't meet up to it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vivian D.Plainfield, CT01Apr 21, 2024
my husband and I spent the afternoon at Mohegan Sun Casino and decided to try the Golden Palace for the first time. The hospitality of the restaurant began the minute we walked in the door where the gentleman who established the restaurant greeted us with a warm friendly smile and welcomed us into the dining room. We were seated and taken care of immediately and we loved the atmosphere. Plenty of room and plenty of service. When we got our meals, we were overwhelmed at the huge portions given to us and we knew we had some to take home for another meal. The food was fantastic, service was fantastic and we told the owner on the way out how impressed we were with all that he offered. We plan to see him again soon. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone to at least try once and I truly believe they will feel the same way my husband and I felt. Must definitely go again, again and again.

Atmosphere and aesthetic is enjoyable but the food is just not good at all. Lacking in flavor and depth. They have quite a large menu so maybe that's the problem.
