This is a very busy restaurant. I showed up on a Saturday around 2:30pm and the place was packed. The lines for the buffet circulated fairly quickly...except the times when parents wanted their kid to eat icky brussel sprouts and a brief discussion as to why dessert would be a much better choice started. Personally, I sided with the children on this one.
This location runs dinner all day on Saturday; excellent for anyone looking for the grilled steak. And they don't give out little tiny portions. This is Texas where you're always offered at least an 8-ounce steak and it's your choice to get a smaller piece.
The staff is really friendly and helpful. They run around so much it's difficult for them to clean-up empty tables quickly. If management added a porter to the dining room the floors/carpets would be much cleaner and tables would get cleared faster.
The desert selection was great! An entire section dedicated to chocolate lovers. This location had several desserts and fruit selections not found at other Golden Corrals.
This was a good place. Not sure when I'll be back to Lubbock, but it will probably be considered when selecting a location for lunch. -

We were traveling thru Lubbock an stopped in here...I had always heard of this place but never tried and had heard comments that did not make this place too appealing....but it exceeded all of my expectations! There was plenty to choose from and they even cooked your steak to order. Everything from the rotisserie chicken to the Devil's food cake had a wholesome, homemade taste of their own...

Don't judge me for reviewing this place. I have sort of a soft spot for Golden Corral, my dad loves it. Probably something about not having enough to eat growing up, coming to the states, and being able to eat all you want at a place with all sorts of different food about under 10 bucks.
To me, Golden Corral sounds like a heaven for cows. Animal cows, not large people. A large ranch surrounded by a glistening fence made of the precious metal...no? Maybe just me. I think BFF and I are developing a tradition here, b/c we ate here at GC with his dad the last time I came to LBK, and here we are again.
Like all GC's this one offers all sorts of hot foods from pizza, grilled steaks, fried chicken, a taco bar, salad bar, soups, fruit bar, desserts, fish, all sorts of veggies, whew! The list goes on. I think there are more desserts here than I've seen at other GCs. I guess Lubbock people have got a sweet tooth. With so many kids running a muck, it's hard to keep the food areas clean and the serving utensils nonsticky. They did alright keeping up here though.
GC seriously has some of the best banana pudding ever. I'm not sure what it is, but it's awesome, whichever one you go to. Sad for us for this trip because when we got up there it was heavily picked over. We didn't see a refill on its way so we had to do without. -

Torrance, CA
This is a large buffet style restaurant with a varied selection. The all you can eat meal is about 7 dollars a person. The food quality is fine. Like any large chain, they cook for the masses -- nothing is seasoned to heavily. The types of food are designed to appeal to most people. You won't find anything exotic or new here. The lettuce was brown, and the salad bar offerings were unappetizing. Tomatoes were yellow, cucumbers, dry.
Surprisngly, the spaghetti with meat sauce tasted good. It was saltier than homecooked, and had a simpler flavor proflie.
Kids love the desert bar. Lots of average food for a low price. At the Golden Corral, your wallet is safe, but, beware, your waistline is at risk. Do your best not to over indulge. -

I call Golden Corral the Hog Trough Cafe. I like the salads and certain meat dishes. They seem to have the same menu items everytime that I go. Unfortunately, I don't care to go that often because I tend to overeat.
