Looking at most of the bad reviews, I'm super confused. I've been here a couple times for lunch & dinner & it has yet to disappoint me. I always get the General Tsong's chicken which is super yummy! I recommend it for sure.
Some Yelpers got it right by saying that this place always seemed empty. That is something I have to agree with, would be sketchy to me if I were to try this place for the first time. -

This place sucks, I wish I could give a 0 star. An hour and a half lunch for a table of 8 and you bring out one dish at a time. Wow get your S&*% together!
And the food-NOT GOOD! -

Assuming you live to 100, you'll get to eat about 109,500 meals. DO NOT WASTE A SINGLE ONE HERE!!!
Why was the place empty at lunch time?
Why did I get tofu when I ordered chicken?
Why was it face-melting spicy when I ordered no spice?
Why didn't the waitress give a hoot? (Her response: eat lots of rice!)
Why did 2 entrees, a BOWL OF RICE ($3!!!), and NO drinks total $30?
Why did we leave still hungry enough to go to ANOTHER RESTAURANT afterward to complete our lunch?
I'll never know, and I'll never eat here again. You shouldn't, either. -

We love this restaurant. We go here for dinner when we go to the Big Picture for movie night. We always order one of their family style dinners and the options are beautifully presented and flavorful. The woman who must be the owner always remembers us and makes us feel welcome, even though we probably only eat there once every other month. Very clean, friendly. Great place. Can always get a table. Best place in Redmond Town Center.

I eat here family style. The Mongolian Beef and Lemon Chicken are sweet and delicious. A serving of Happy Family will balance it out. Bring lots of hungry mouths.

This place stole us from our previous favorite Chinese food establishment. The food is so far the best in this style I personally have tried. Or it can just be my preference in the flavors but I love how it's always crispy when it says it is. Always served hot, fresh, and steamy. Service is pretty good, although when you walk in it's a little awkward because you're not sure whether or not to seat yourself or wait cause there is no wait area. We just wait to be seated, we tried seating ourselves once and they moved us.

This place is EXCELLENT!!! great food, excellent service and perfect ambiance.
Golden Chopsticks is a great venue for any occassion. Often found empty, (still wondering why...!!!)
Try the mongolian beef, crispy beef or general tsong ( their own twist on general tso) -
Review from Allie S.
The food was fine. I appreciated that each dish had a somewhat unique tasting sauce rather than everything being undistinguishable from the next dish. In spite of the fact I ordered a dish that was noted as being "spicy," there was no real zing to it. Honestly, foodwise there was nothing particularly memorable except the prices being way too high for the portion size. Yes, I realize we're in the 'burbs but that doesn't justify such a price hike.
The staff here does not let your water drop -- which is great but can also lead to some awkward interactions because they aren't so seamless that they can sneak in, refill your water and have you thankful you weren't being pursued by ninjas. Rather, you pause your conversation and start it back up again, even if you aren't discussing inappropriate things.
Everyone else in my party enjoyed the food so I can't really dock a lot of stars... however, it would be a long time and I'd need a job at Microsoft before I'd suggest Golden Chopsticks for a meal. -

Just had dinner here tonight with my boyfriend and it was really good! We ordered the Mongolian Beef and the General Tsong's chicken and both were awesome. I am seriously so confused by all of the negative reviews... I guess maybe it is slightly pricier than some, but not horrible. I would definitely go back!

I have no choice but to give Golden Chopsticks five stars - I am a regular, and I get takeaway at least once a week. Sometimes more. Here's a few of my all time favorites (in no particular order):
Crispy Szechuan Tofu
Vegetable Chow Mein
Vegetarian Soup Noodle
Mongolian Tofu With 3 Greens (Chinese green beans!)
Black Pepper Tofu (it's on the menu as Black Pepper Pork, but they will make it with any protein including tofu, just ask!)
Tofu with Black Bean Sauce
Tofu with Crispy Basil
Sweet & Sour Shrimp
Cashew Shrimp
I don't eat any red meat and just some water livestock from time to time and as you can see Golden Chopsticks is very veg friendly. Try the szechuan sauce (it comes in the crispy szechuan tofu and some other things) and tell me that is not the single best stir fry sauce you've ever had. I have tried many times to figure out what's in there. It's simple, yet complex. Exotic and savory and yet familiar at the same time. -

Historically I have always been in love with Chinese food. Since moving to Seattle I have been seduced away by the spicy deliciousness of Thai and the sweet tangyness of teriyaki on every corner, so i wasn't expecting a whole lot out of this place in the middle of Redmond Town Center. I was very pleasantly surprised.
We tried 3 dishes, Mongolian beef, lemon chicken and sweet and sour chicken. Most notably the lemon chicken is not sweet and sour breaded chicken with lemon sauce on it, its actually lemon chicken. The Mongolian beef is currently the best I've had in Washington. Sweet and sour chicken was pretty good, definitely better than most places up here, though not the best I've ever had.
Lunch specials come with soup and choice of rice, both of which were fantastic. We also got one of my favorite's jasmine tea. It comes in your own individual little pot with the cutest shot cup of tea I've ever had the pleasure of using. It is loose leaf and not strained but i enjoyed it.
Service was prompt and communicative, very nice atmosphere as well. Only complaint on that end was the mediocrity held within the tiny crunchy delicious fortune cookies. I expect either hilarity or pearls of wisdom from my fortune cookies, i got neither. I did however get a yummy little cookie so in the end i say it's OK.
Overall i would totally recommend this place, we went midday on black Friday and had no issues. There is the biggest table I've ever seen taking up a large portion of the restaurant so I'd presume it would work well for groups. -

I have eaten here twice. I only came back the second time because of group dynamics and the thought that my first meal was bad luck.
Nope. Same poor, really fake tasting chinese food. No reason to eat here with some other really good Chinese places in Bellevue area that have great food (SIchuanese Cuisine, Spiced, Szechuan Chef). -

Pay no attention to the naysayers. Considering we are in Redmond, WA the Golden Chopsticks is a quite nice Chinese restaurant. Clean, friendly staff and consistantly well prepared and tasty food. The only criticism is that the chairs could be a bit more comfortable.

My friends and I go to Golden Chopsticks pretty often, and I have always been content dining there.
The servers are very friendly and accommodate large groups without any complaints and usually without a considerable wait.
The food is consistent and priced about on par with similar sit-down restaurants in RTC. I find the serving sizes to be quite generous on most of the menu items.
Golden Chopsticks does a nice job with the standards that one often finds in Americanized Chinese restaurants. Some of my favorite dishes are the Black Pepper Pork, Ma Po Tofu, Szechwan Crispy Tofu, and Szechwan String Beans. I'm torn on the bok choy, which is often very good but sometimes seems overwhelmed by the flavor of the ginger in its sauce. Outside of that little hiccup, I've always been happy with my meals at Golden Chopsticks. -

Expensive - $10 for a lunch special, plus a tip brought it to $12. The food was below average: Orange Kitchen was deep fried average quality chicken pieces (nothing else) with a standard sauce. Service was prompt, white rice was included with lunch - big upcharges for brown rice or fried rice to switch out. Wonton soup was included with lunch special and barely average. This place has a nice decor, but nearby strip-mall Spicy Talk and Grand Peking are both far better quality food and value. As is Jade Dragon. I won't be back.

I ordered a $11 bowl of soup. It is described on their website as:
S3. Wor Wonton Soup
Shrimp, chicken, beef, vegetables and
wonton in a chicken broth.
Bowl only $ 10.95
What I actually got: Cabbage, onions, 4 shrimp, one wonton, lots of egg in broth. That's it. No chicken. No beef. Generic "take out" styrofoam container. Order was confirmed during pick up.
Come on. $11 for that? No freaking way. -

Today is not my day for good food. We tried Tuna House first, but it was closed due to power outage. Then we tried Thai Ginger at Redmond Town Center, but they were too crowded. So we ended up at Golden Chopsticks.
Let's see, where should I start?
Decor-3 stars. It was nice. However, they had a huge table that could seat 20+ people in the middle of the restaurant. Awkward for the smaller parties who are forced to sit together.
Seating-1 star. We were exiled to the front next to the waiting area where other patrons were invading our personal bubble.
Service-1 star. Slow, slow, slow. Took us 15 minutes just to get pre-made soup. Another 15 minutes before we got our food.
Food-1 star. What happened to the rest of my lunch? The portion was so small that I finished everything on my plate and it wasn't because it was good. The Mongolian Beef was way too sweet.
Price-1 star. $8.25 for my Barbie-sized portion. -
Review from Dennis D.
It's okay, but you don't get much for your money.
I got their orange chicken dinner which only comes with the entrée and should serve at least two (the waitress said four), but the takeout container I got only had enough for one.
Their white rice is good, but really....it's rice. And it cost extra meaning it didn't come for free with the entrée, which is kinda ridiculous considering what a staple rice is to Asian cuisine. And rice is CHEAP, but somehow this rice wasn't really that cheap.
As to the orange chicken, the sauce was a tad sweet and didn't taste much like orange unless you actually bit into one of the orange peels in it. It seemed more of a sugary syrup than an orange sauce.
If I HAD to, I'd go again and try something else, but only for lunch and only if I couldn't get to the other better more cost-effective Chinese places in the area.
It's on the second floor of the Redmond Town Center, and they DO accept Discover.
They don't give the Passport discount though. :'-/ -

The one thing I really like about this place is they are willing to make any of their dishes without oil - a great option for those of us watching our girlish figures. My favorite dish is the mongolian chicken. Some of their Tofu offerings are yummy too.
I have never had an issue with slow service, in fact I have had quite the opposite experience.
If you are stuck at the mall for dinner, I think this is a good option. -

I have been going there for several years now, the food is consistently good. I love the general Tsong's chicken and the prawn fried rice. The owner is extremely nice and friendly, I feel right at home.
The restaurant is very clean and warmly decorated. I love their massive family style table. -

I work around Redmond Town Center and this is a great place to eat when I'm in a rush! I know most people have posted reviews that the service here is extremely slow - however, i generally tend to eat between 1 and 2:30 pm so the service has always been extremely fast! The server always knows what I order and makes jokes when I order something different.
The food is pretty good! The hot and sour soup is kind of meh, but the entrees are always satisfying and tasty!
Not some place I would go for a night out on the town...but good for a quick lunch on a busy day! -

I took the advice of Yelpers here and ordered the crispy beef. It wasn't bad at all. I'd give the food 3 - 3 1/2 stars. I may be cheap, but I found the prices to be way high for the food, so if I could I'd give the place 2 1/2 stars (somewhere between "meh - I've experienced better" and "a-ok"). I spent $30 for crispy beef, egg roll (2 for $6) and a coke.
I mean, I could get the 1 1/2 star version at Safeway for $5.95 or the 3 star version for $30.
You may also like this place with a large group. They have a huge table in the middle of the place. -

I'm kind of torn on this place. We came here for lunch yesterday, three of us, right around noon. We were sat promptly, the service was fast, the food was good. I got the chicken in black bean sauce lunch combination, and it was marginally better than most American-Chinese places I've been to on the virtue that it was much less oily. It wasn't greasy and felt healthier, which made me feel better about eating there.
What didn't make me feel better was the fact that they charged $10 for a plate of said chicken, one scoop of rice and a tiny bowl of watery hot and sour soup. What, no egg roll? No wontons? That's hardly a 'lunch combo'. That's a rip-off. And that was the deciding factor between two and three stars. I can get more food and variety on my plate for less cash at most Chinese restaurants. So it'll be a little more greasy. At least it'll be satisfying. -

The food is good, not spectacular. It's consistent, but it's also pretty expensive. I've had most of the noodle dishes and I've been pleased. My favorite is the Ja Jung Mein. It's heavy, greasy, salty, and you'll get food hangover...but for some reason, I like the homey noodles. I could actually do without the chicken topping part (which is the whole point, actually...).
Problem? They are SLOW. If you are starving, have ADD, or have a movie to catch, I would not recommend it.
Also, I'm eternally perplexed by the huge communal table. It takes up a lot of perfectly good space, and I rarely see anyone sitting at it (uh, you won't find me there, either). -
Review from Jackie M.
The good: General Tsong's chicken, chicken fried rice, sweet and sour chicken
The bad: Lemon chicken and fried tofu (both tasted like fried nothing) and the pot stickers- they tasted horrible.
Our waitress was unfriendly. Not exactly rude, just very indifferent and unwelcoming. The service was abnormally slow. There were maybe 6 tables full of people in the entire restaurant and 2-3 servers. It took 15 minutes to get soup- which came out of a big pot. I watched her open the huge vat of soup and spoon some in (the kitchen is out in the open and visible from the entire place). It took another 15 minutes for our appetizers and another 20-25 minutes to get our meal. I don't think it should have taken that long. I've never waited that long at a Chinese restaurant before.
The prices were ridiculous. I could not believe it! We got 2 appetizers and 2 entrees and the bill was $65. -

I've been to a lot of bleak places and I would not even think of writing about them. What's the point? I'll forget about the place's existence and go on exploring new restaurants. However, one year ago I came across an exceptionally bleak place. So bleak, it's in your memories. Forever.
We were in Redmond during the lunch time, when Microsoftees overpopulate everything around that carries food. We were hungry. After vainly attempting to get to several restaurants that were extremely busy we got desperate and found an empty restaurant at the Redmond Town Center. No one was there. Just a two of us. It was suspicious, but we were very-very hungry.
I cannot say what exactly we ordered because whatever it was, it absolutely lad no taste. It could have been shoe laces instead of noodles, or a sole of a sneaker instead of chicken - I really cannot say. "At least add some MSG!", I screamed inwardly and left as hungry as I came. I did not have the guts to eat that... that... food. What if it was really shoe laces? -

Hubby and I were in the area and decided to give it a try. We got the Happy Family (stir fry with chicken, scallops, and prawns) and Princess Prawns (lightly breaded and fried prawns covered in a Szechuan sauce). Happy Family was ok...didn't do much to make my family very happy. :P (So cheesy, I know!) But the Princess Prawns were absolutely FANTASTIC! The breading on the prawns was sooooo light and crispy! The ratio of breading to prawn was perfect. Hubby and I both LOVED this dish. I mean seriously, as we were chowing down I had to keep one eye on how many prawns he got just so I could make sure I didn't get cheated out of my share of prawns. :P We'd probably go back for this dish and next time I'd insist on getting my own order of Princess Prawns!
Hmm...so I'm a little torn. 3 or 4 stars. 4 stars would be based just on that prawn dish. But I think I'm going to go with 3 stars because the prices were way too high for the portion size. I think we worked out the math and it was like $2-3 per prawn or something ridiculous like that. We were there at about 6:30pm on a Sunday night and we were the only customers there. I know, a little scary. They might want to consider lowering their prices if they want to attract more customers. -

I love eating at Golden Chopsticks. I agree with a review from above about the Sxechwan Crispy Beef, this is the only chinese restaurant in the area that gets it right. The place is usually a little empty, I think they do a lot of take out, but the service is friendly and quick. My GF goes there so much they know her by name and she doesn't even have to order, they already know what she wants.
Good size portions at lunch and dinner but the prices are a little high for dinner in my opinion. -

I'm surprised by the reviews of my fellow Yelpers. I've been going to Golden Chopsticks since they've opened a few years ago, and I'm incredibly happy with them! It's the best "American-Chinese" food I've ever had, they're consistant, they're clean, they're friendly. Yes, the dishes are a bit expensive and you get smaller portions than many family-style restaurants, but I feel that the quality and taste of the food make up for the price.
Some of my most favorite dishes that I crave:
-Hot and Sour Soup (The best I've ever had.)
-Sweet and Sour Tofu
-Rainbow Chicken (Three different types of chicken on one plate--General Tsong's, Lemon, and Sweet and Sour! Great for people who can't make up their minds)
-Crab Cream Cheese Wontons (the best I've ever had, a great flavor without that yucky strong crab smell like some of the ones I've had. Dipping them into the sweet and sour sauce included is a must!) -

The Szechwan Crispy Beef and the General Tsong's Chicken are my favorites. In fact, only here I can find a real crispy beef without feel that i am getting a bunch of fried beef :)
The offer is generous and the atmosphere is very good, even when it is full is not that noisy like other restaurants.
I didn't give another star because the service. It is slow and sometimes is not friendly which is a shame because the food is very good and the place is very nice. -

Great Chinese food in Redmond! Before we cut way back on eating out to save our wastes and wallets, the boyfriend and I were regulars there and they always greeted us warmly and with recognition. They're always happy to accommodate my picky eating boyfriend's requests and do it correctly.
My favorites? Mongolian Tofu with Three Greens and the Fried Tofu app. Then again, I LOVE fried tofu. Blame the fact that I'm an ex-vegan. They are a bit expensive for what you get, but I figure the location and decor ends up costing them. -

The mom and I were shoppng in Redmond town center and started to crave some chinese. We saw Golden Chopsticks and decided to give it a go. All I can say is BLAND CITY BABY! The pan fried noodles were not pan fried and no spices were involved, they tasted like nothing...... The eggrolls were obviously premade and microwaved, no crunch was involved at all. Even the sweet and sour sauce was weird, it reminded us both of orange soda. The staff was friendly and provided good service. All that being said we won't be back.

Redmond, WA
Wow, was this a disappointing meal/experience. We went to the GC after the Redmond Lights and were surprised to find the restaurant only half full. The lack of patrons was a good thing since there was only 1 waiter for the entire restaurant! It took 10 minutes for the waiter to ask us what we'd like to eat, another 15 minutes before we receieved our drinks (and only after I asked) and an additional 15 minutes before our food was served. The food, which in the past 3 visits has been pretty good, was just so-so this time. The soup and pork-fried rice were cold and the rice (which they charge for) was overcooked.

The food here is actually decent. Lunch combos include the choice of wonton or hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup is not great, but its ok. The location and decor of this restaurant is good. There's a HUGE table there to accomodate parties of any size. Their big problem is that service is extremely slow during peak hours. They've got 2 chefs and 2 waiters. They cannot handle that place when it gets busy. If you go there at the wrong hour, you'll be sorely disappointed with waiting for service and then your food (dine in or take out). All in all, I'd still recommend them. Just be patient.

The food here is pretty good. Better than most places in this genre around the region. Unfortunately, it's also expensive, so a star or two gets knocked off. If you're in the Redmond Town Center area, there are probably better options to spend your money at, like Thai Ginger.

When my BF and I first stopped by we were a little worried by how empty the place was. We still tried it and were extremely satisfied. Others have complained about slow service, but everytime we have gone it has been pretty empty and we received our food quickly and the service was very prompt and friendly. Prices are a little on the high end and you have to pay extra for a small amount of rice. Love the water with lemon in it and I am picky about restaurant water. We love the Mongolian Beef and General Tsao's Chicken, they are spicy and the chicken wasn't overly breaded or greasy. The pork fried rice was also great, big pieces of pork and tasted very fresh.

This location in Redmond Town Center is a good choice for those of us stranded in the suburbs. The Chinese food here is pretty good. I liked: orange beef and szechuan string beans. The mall location makes it way too fancy-looking for a Chinese restaurant, in my opinion.
