So this review is long overdue... but the owner, staff and service at Gold Rush is AMAZING! I brought in my grandmother's wedding ring to be sized. The ring consists of 3 different bands, all of which they were able to clean and size in under an hour!!!! The prices are very reasonable and the owner Rick and his staff are very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back!!

After I hung up on the Cartier store, I went down to Gold Rush. I was going to have them set a new diamond on a ring for my babe. Before I left, I asked them whether they could polish a scratch off my Cartier watch. The jeweler promptly took my watch and after a few minutes of polishing it on their machine, brought it back to me in perfect condition.
The scratch was gone....and the watch looked brand new!
When I inquired about the cost....he just did it as part of the cost for setting my diamond ring, thus it was for 0.00.
And Cartier wanted $135.00 to do the same thing! -

Gold Rush Jewelers has been around as long as it has because they consistently provide great customer service, are very knowledgeable, and get done what need quickly. It's this type of service and quality that creates a great community store.

I have been to this store in the past and have always had a good experience. That being the case, I would have automatically brought my repairs into the store except that this time, my repairs were a little challenging This prompted me to do some internet research to see what my local options were, as I wanted to avoid going to San Francisco After reading the other reviews, I was concerned
and it did make me wonder, as those reviews sounded false and was
nothing like my past experience with this store I decided to give the store a chance and brought my stuff in to see how they acted and what they had to say
Writing a reviews is not my thing, but, my experience was so positive that I just had to take the time to share it. In this economic time, I think it's important to let others know when a merchant is doing a great job
With that said here's my experience:
I need two repairs, earring and pearls that needed restringing
The earrings were a little complicated as I wanted the posts in the french clip moved so it would sit higher on my ear. This required removing my expensive coral stone and resetting the whole thing.
In addition, I have a set of gorgeous opera length pearls that have an unusual fitting. Each strand has two set of screws which enable me to adjust the length of the pearls and have multiple uses.
One as a choker and as a full length set. I recommended this to anyone with pearls. The time had come for them to be restrung and to say I was nervous about who was going to do this is an understatement.
The young lady in the front was very professional , patient and accommodating as I went on and on ( as I am doing now )
about how important these pieces were. By the time we finished reviewing what I wanted, I felt confident leaving my jewelery
and knew that they would take care of it properly.
The end result:
I picked up my jewelery on Saturday, wore it over the weekend and I am happy to report that this store did a fabulous job.
They saved me a trip to San Francisco, repaired everything exactly right and the repair price was very good . In the end, the price was not my major factor in writing this but just the fact that they did an expert job and were very professional. . With all that said, I highly recommend this store -

What wonderful little jewlery shop. I had a watch that needed a new battery and on a whim stopped because there happen to be parking in front. The only reason I waited at all was because there was a woman in front of me who was first and the clerk (so sorry I didn't get her name) was just about the nicest kindess clerk I had seen in a long time. It was a joy to watch he work. Plus I might add they have really beautiful items in their show case and I always thougth I enjoyed getting gifts in those pretty little blue boxes.... (you know who I am talking about) but I saw a ton of things that would please me to no end.
So when my turn came... I asked if I could have the battery changed in my watch and I swear she said it would be a few minutes and honestly... even though I didn't have a watch I did have my iPhone and thought I would check my email she was back with my watch working before I could download my email from my iPhone.
The shop itself is spit spot clean and to me that right off the bat tells you that they also care about the quality of their work..... I swear ladies.. its a nice route to take if you are headed towards the east end of 4th street with a date. It is located on the opposite side of Sol Food so make certain you don't cross the street until 4th and Lincoln. ( I must sound like a gold digger, but really I'm not.. I am a white gold digger.... just kidding).
It looked like they had a nice gift selection of jewlery for all age ranges. I was thinking the next time I needed a gift for a baptisim, commuion, graduation it would be a nice place to pick up a quality piece and also support our local business. -

It takes a minute to get things done if you're waiting for a jeweler on site to fix your watch or ring. It's not an instant gratification concept, it takes patience and time. But not everyone understand this.
Woman behind us: "Are you all in line?"
All of us: "Yes."
Woman behind us: "Well, I was wondering if I could go in front of you because I'm in a hurry."
MY ANSWER: "Well I'm not in YOUR hurry, sorry........."
Gold Rush jewelers do take a minute while you wait, but they do high quality work, and you can't rush perfectionists. Gold and platinum itself it very high priced right now, so don't expect your repairs to be inexpensive, but they'll do a great job. I drop off all sorts of simple and complicated repairs alike there, and they've always done a great job at making them look brand new. They also have a selection of diamond fashion and settings there, not really my style though. I like my bling bigger.....and well, blingier (look a new word, haha).
Be prepared to wait, as the line to get some service may take a minute, but in my eyes it's worth the wait. They've always been honest, and I will only take my wares, as they're worth a lot, to honest people I can trust. I'll wait anyday for the good shit.....
And to that impatient bitch in the back...I was so here first, so your ass is gonna do what? Stare at the back of my head and MY ASS until I'M done.........don't hate the haters bitches......Listed in: My "Where I Used To Rest My…

This place is is fabulous! My husband and I both had our wedding rings sized here. They did such a great job, we can't even tell where they added/removed gold. His is just a plain 24k yellow gold band, mine is with a sapphire and 4 beautiful diamonds, they cleaned and polished them till they looked new. The young lady behind the counter was very informative, professional and sweet! Plus, they had my ring done in 24 hours, awesome turn around! My husbands parents used to take all their jewelry there. All the bad reviews are probably from people that wouldn't be satisfied anywhere they go. Love you guys!

Great location, shady business. Had my ring sized there and SWEAR they changed the diamonds on me. The diamonds are small, it's a quaint ring, but they are significantly smaller with less sparkle. I attempted to sort it out with them but they were impossible to deal with. This sort of thing is very challenging to prove so I just had to let it go.
I heard later that this business was accused of the same thing when they had their Petaluma store.
Be careful and protect yourself -

I brought a brand new pair of diamond huggie earring into Gold Rush to have the 14Kt post replaced with platinum posts. When Gold Rush returned the earring they had a black, greasy substance on them (i.e. the diamond area in front of the post was covered in BLACK SOOT!). I told them that these were brand new earrings and never worn. Gold Rush said that they would clean them and that I should come back in an hour. (Begs the question: why would you hand over jewelry that had black grease on it???????)
When I returned, the earring where only slightly more clean...they could not get them clean; Gold Rush trashed a brand new pair of gold & diamond earrings. I have since done some research with 'real' jewelers; the damage was the result of trying to meld platinum, which has a much higher melting point than gold, to gold. It must be friends/relatives writing these positive reviews, because I was at a party in Marin with people associated with the jewelry business and ALL of them said that they constantly hear of negative experiences at Gold Rush.Comment from Rick L. of Gold Rush Jewelers 7/3/2011

This was my second visit to Gold Rush so I felt reasonably comfortable having them appraise an antique sapphire/diamond ring I received for Christmas. (On my first visit, I had them test a diamond-looking gem to see if it was real - it wasn't but it didn't cost me anything as they did it for free!) We dropped in on a Saturday around 3:30 and there were two guests in front of us but the gal at the counter (I'm sorry I didn't get her name because she's a doll!) helped them thoroughly yet efficiently, so we waited all of 7 minutes.
I had checked in while we were waiting so I had their special offer of a free cleaning on my phone when I approached but she told me I didn't need it: the ring would be thoroughly cleaned with the appraisal. I wasn't at all surprised that a full appraisal would take an hour - I was actually pleased that I'd get it back the same day, considering we'd dropped in so late on a Saturday.
When we returned, she handed back a ring that sparkled and shined so brightly I had to put on my shades! Who knew that old ring could gleam so much? She patiently answered all our numbskull questions about the ring, the gems, the fit and the appraised value.
My favorite aspect of Gold Rush is that it's homey enough that anyone could feel comfortable walking in, which can't be said for many "upscale" boutique shops. I hate being prequalified by snooty salespeople just because I happen to be wearing a baseball cap that day! -

I was searching for a very specific type of engagement ring for my lady and was having trouble with some other local jewelers finding the right style in my price range. Gold Rush found exactly what I was looking for in only like 10 minutes. Then they promised they could get it in time for the price I wanted. They weren't able to receive the ring in the time frame promised but not due to the jewelers lack of trying. I was able to get the perfect ring just a few days later and the jeweler even set it for free as an apology for being late. Even when it was a shipping issue and not the stores fault. That's what I call Good Business. I can't refer them enough. I won't be going anywhere else for any of my jewelry/watch needs.

Regarding the person who thought stones were switched. I was in the jewelry business for many years. First, it would take some time to switch diamonds. They would have to purchase matching size diamonds, take all of yours out and then replace them. The labor cost alone vs. any profit, would make no sense. Second, often times when people think they see different stones, it is because their ring is clean and much shinier and, with small stones, the ring may outshine the stones. Trust me, disreputable jewelers are really few and far between. I would hate to see a good jeweler like Gold Rush Jewelers have their reputation tarnished because of a misunderstanding. Just felt the need to clarify.

I wrote a review here but it was flagged or whatever because the owner of the store is trying to keep my review off this page. I am a jewelry expert. Been in the business for 24 years. I went into Gold Rush "Jewelers" because I needed a watch battery put in. When I walked into the store a friendly clerk greeted me, and I told her I needed a new battery and asked WILL THE WATCHMAKER PUT IT IN? Why did I ask this? Because the watch I was wearing cost me 4 thousand dollars and I know that although it is easy to put a battery in, only a skilled watchmaker will ensure it is done properly. The employee said I can do it. Well assuming she was the watchmaker, I handed her the watch. I left the store and the FIRST time I washed my hands (which I have done always w/ this watch) I noticed water had leaked in. I went right back to the store and the first thing I hear out of her mouth after a friendly hello is " we are not responsible for the repairs" HUH? It was obvious upon further inspection that the back had not been properly closed. I have known the owner for a long time (only by being in the same trade. NEVER had repairs done there) and he happened to walk in and I really thought he would make it right. Well, not only is he not willing to make it right, he is now falsely accusing me of writing other people's negative reviews!!!!! I'll swear on a Bible and put on a polygraph that what I am saying here is the truth. Bad Business, Bad business practices. Caveat Emptor = " BUYER BEWARE"

I had a great first experience in here. Bought a lovely stone and rope for my sister-in-law. Was a fun little shopping trip on a day when I was way stressed out and didn't want to go in one more store. Staff was pleasant, not very quick, but sweet and cracked me up a couple of times. I'll be back.

Gold rush is such a friendly jewelery shop. My Husband and I bought our wedding rings at the Petaluma Gold Rush. Terry and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped us to find a wedding band that was everything I wanted and more. We also found a perfect wedding ring for my hubby. Not only were the rings very affordable, but each time we went they cleaned my engagement ring. They got it so sparkly! And, after our wedding day they attached my engagement and wedding rings together, so that they stay put when I'm wearing them. I didn't even know they could do that!

Gold Rush Jewelers not only has the nicest and knowledgeable staff but the BEST customer service. The latch on my favorite watch has been broken for sometime now and I've taken it to a couple different shops to get fixed and no one seemed to know how to fix it. Rick the owner, who's been in the business a long time, took one look at the watch and had it fixed in no time. I love this place and highly recommend it! I wouldn't go anywhere else for my jewelry needs.
