We stopped at Elko on a whim in the middle of a long road trip from nowhere back to the Bay Area.  Elko had more hotels to choose from than other hot spots like Battle Mountain and Winnemucca, so we pulled off the highway here.  

The rate at the Best Western was reasonable and they gave us some coupons.  The room had the gaudiest, most ridiculous decor of any place I've ever seen (moose and deer on the bedspread and wallpaper, metal cowboys holding up the bedside lamps), but it was very clean and generally high-quality.  There was some residual cigarette smell in the room when we first entered but opening the window during dinner helped air it out sufficiently by the time we returned.  

The bed wasn't particularly comfortable but then I'm not picky about mattresses so I slept well.  Overall I think it was a good experience and an hotel worth stopping by if you happen to be in the area.  Just steer clear of the casino...
