A coworker bought some gobs for mid-morning meeting, and let me tell you, they were fantastic!!  So fresh and yummy, not too sweet, and nice and moist.  Better than coffee any day!

And now that I see they deliver, I'm totally going to get some for our next big meeting at the office.

And the name is fun to say!

Street food, the lazy person's way, part 2.  I like non-mobile food options and full serve fro-yo.  Gobba Gobba Hey (Whoopie pie) seemed like something I would like.  I picked mine up at Pal's Takeaway. They had one flavor: chocolate with almond buttercream ($2).  It's quite small but larger than a mini cupcake.

The chocolate cake part is sticky, tender and soft (it stuck to the plastic packaging).  The buttercream part was tangy and creamy without a strong almond flavor.  It felt like the right amount of cream (not so much that it oozes out, not so little that you can't taste it).  I like the concept and the execution but I wish there were more varieties and they were easier to find.

Meh. I had one at the 4505 stand at the ferry building, and they're OK, and the diversity of flavors is a plus, but they're not worth going out of your way to get.

Sorry, I just don't get it. The company is cute and trendy and sources all their ingredients right and is on twitter, etc., etc. - all things that SFans love - but in the end, the only thing that really matters to me is, "Is the Gob Awesome"? And it was just OK.

Gobs are like dessert crack. Can't stop, won't stop. If I keep eating gobs, I'll turn into a gob.

I just like saying that word - "gob", "gobba", "gobba gobba HEY!"

Anywhoo, these little cakester creations are such a delighful treat! The first time, I tried a peaches & cream w/ peach & lemon butter cream and holy moly, I became an instant addict. At $2 a pop, I ended up buying 3 more to take home for my brother to try............but they didn't exactly make it all the way back to Union City. Whoopsies!

When I heard Steve was going to be at the Eat Real Fest, I was so ecstatic. Instead of serving his gobs under a tent, he just walked around with a tray and a backpack feeding his sweet-toothed patrons. This time around, I tried the chocolate gob w/ vanilla frosting and it was as divine as ever. If the Eat Real Fest didn't suck my wallet dry, I would've bought some more.

As much as I'd like to see Steve take his business to the next level and open up a shop, I love the experience of eating street food. Whatever happens, I hope he continues to paint the town with gobs!

OMG!!! hunt this guy down!! the best whoopie/moon pie I have ever had!! not to mention fresh and natural in all its ingredients!! I was able to snag a strawberry shortcake one and the cake was so soft and moist, there was no indication of dryness which is A+ in my book. The filling had fresh strawberries and was light and fluffy. I should have bought about a dozen. too mad there's no mail order!

While just hanging out by myself, this one lady in front of me squeals and beckons this man over.

Out he pulls from his huge bag, these round things in individual bags, with the name Gobba Gobba Hey on each.

The lady saw me staring and gave me half of her Gobba Gobba Hey.

Totally organic and he also substitutes avocado in the place of unhealthy butters.

I about fainted, but not before I bought all the remaining ones.

At first I thought that it would be redundant to write this review since I had already provided a heads up in my 4505 review, but since a few people appear to be misinformed or lost (have trouble finding this vendor), I'll go ahead and provide a helpful review just for reference.

No, that's not a turkey call like in: "gobble-gobble", or an invitation to devour the food, although you can if you want to. The business name is derived from the riff "Gabba Gabba Hey" in the song "Pinhead" by The Ramones. http://www.youtube.com...

"Gobs" are like "Whoopie Pies" (Gobs have a creamy frosting filling and WP uses a marshmallow fluff filling). What's a whoopie pie? The best example I can give you is think of an Oreo cookie, replace the crunchy cookies with soft-type cookies, that's it.

How is that different from a "Moon Pie"? MPs are dipped in chocolate.

Update: now it's just $2 for one size [Price was $1 for the gobbles, $3 for the gobs, or 2 for $5]. Steven mentioned that he offers a cheaper price by the dozen (pre-order), but I've never bothered to check what that was.

Steven excels at coming up with great flavor combinations. Some examples: pistachio orange with orange butter cream, lemon thyme with lemon butter cream, black cherry chocolate with lime butter cream, etc. Yummy!!

I like whoopie pies (or anything similar), and these gobs are really well made, so it gets 5 stars from me. Although I wish they were cheaper.

Gobba Gobba guy (Steven) is relatively easy to find compared to the other street vendors, since he has 2 stationary locations with specific schedules that sell his Gobs: Pal's Takeaway (Tue-Sat. 11am-2:30pm) and 4505 Meat's food stand at the Ferry Building market (Thu. only 10am-2pm).

IF you still manage to miss your chance, but would like to sample something similar. Here are a few local brick and mortar stores that make their own whoopie pies:  Recchiuti Confections inside the Ferry Building, Kitchenette in the dogpatch area (occasionally only, must check website & limited hours), and The Chestnut Bakery in the marina (but that version is average compared to the other ones).

I'm not sure if I am enjoying the whole street food twitter thing, or if I'm annoyed by it, but either way, I shouldn't take it out on the goodness of a gobba.

A work buddy and I had been monitoring twitter the past week, the way a broker monitors ticker tape. Couple days ago we had a false alarm (no gobbas, bad tweet reading), but yesterday...SUCCESS!

We rushed over and purchased 5 gobbas (green tea) at the ferry bldg, ripping into our baggies to sample them while scurrying back to work.

I'd describe a gobba as two semi-sticky-gooey muffin tops with a layer of not overly sweet whipped tart cream cheese filling in the middle. Not too sweet, really good flavors, and doesn't have that preservative flavor that you get with muffiny/cookie-like things.

The first bite was underwhelming -- perhaps too much hype and expectation all rolled up into the hopes of one perfect bite. But...the more I ate, the more I wanted to eat...After I finished mine, I craved more the rest of the day. It took a lot of willpower to save one of the gobbas for my bf.

Only complaint: I wish I didn't have to follow twitter like some hipster to determine where to find these. I guess I have no choice.

Having grown up in South Central Pennsylvania, I think I know me a thing or two about a whoopie, errrrrr, 'GOBs'   (google 'gobs' and 'whoopie pies' to see what I mean. . .)  I've eaten a lot of them in my day and, every time I return to '"the woods" whoopie-p, errrrr GOBS, are one of those things I just have to get sometime during my stay.  So when I discovered they are now available in the Mission, I whooooped, errrr, gobbed? , with shear delight~

Yesterday I tried Gobba Gobba and I have to say these are not only every bit as good as the ones I remember, they're actually SO MUCH BETTER!  The essence of the sandwich is preserved but the creativity of the flavor combinations makes these little cakes absolute *prizes*.  Orange Cardammon/Saffron.  Inexplicably good.  Black Cherry/chocolate with lime buttercream.  Sublime!  And a Strawberry Shortcake which is every bit as good and light and nostalgic as it sounds too.

He's achieved a perfect buttercream that, despite the butter, is light and sweet -but not cloyingly so.  . . . the complexity of the flavors create a round experience  that 's not overly dense.  Just the right sweetness, and just the right moistness in the cake.  In fact, I think Gobs just get better and better the longer they're in the fridge.  Keep a lot on hand, -and keep your friends' hands off them!

I am a huge Gobba Gobba Hey gobs fan, these little gobs of goodness are excellent.  The cream is perfectly sweet and the texture is smooth and the cookie part so moist.  My whole family loved them and Steven, the maker, is a really nice guy, dropped them off to my house and all!

The Peaches n Cream was to die for, my husband loved the Chocolate with Balck Cherry Lime filling as well.  you gotta try em!

Wow, this was the first time I've tried a Gob, and I was thoroughly impressed.  What is a Gob you ask?  It's kind of like a moon pie, only much, much better.  And even better when you buy it from a guy with a tupperware full of goodies in a dead-end alley.

I'm sure someone will add a picture to their profile very soon, but check out their blog to get an idea!

Tonight we tried the Peaches & Cream and Carrot Cake varieties.  Both were exceptional, though I'd have to say that the Peaches & Cream was re-god-damned-diculously good!

I hope that Gobba Gobba Hey is here to stay, because this is a welcome addition to our already abundant dessert options in the Mission.

Dunno what I like best about Gobba Gobba Hey: the Gobs themselves or the cool dude behind them.  I mean, they really were THAT good, and I'm seriously considering a trip to either 4505/Chicharrones, Pals, or HMSBeekeeper for my next fix, after sampling 2 flavs at the Eat Real Fest last weekend.  But Steve just seems so damn thrilled to be peddling those little gobs that it makes me that much happier to be gobbling them down like the infectiously joyous crack-filled crack-cakes they are.

Enough with the stupid street food.  I just want my gobs and I want them when I want them, not having to stalk them on twitter for twits.  I even went to the ferry building AND Tony's market.  But GGH fails to mention they're only there from 10-2pm and 11-2:30pm respectively.  Wow, 3.5-4 hour window to get them.  That'd be cool if I was funemployed or living off a trust fund.  But after a long day at work and driving from the peninsula to get my sugar fix in rush hour and looking for parking at the Ferry Building only to leave empty-handed does not make for a happy customer.  Over it.

AMAZING. One of the most, if not the most incredible confection I've ever tried. Received one with my 4505 Meats hot dog at the Thursday Ferry Building farmer's market. Life changing.
