Review Highlights
came here with a visiting friend the day after xmas for lunch. we actually went to Poppy's first but turned out they don't do lunches, we were referred to glory days by the guy who was at Poppy's. So...we thought we'd give it a shot.
we each ordered a pint of fat tire...mmmmm beer...it was good to catch up over a nice icy cold beer coz I haven't done that in a while since leaving the South...
the guy from Poppy's had recommended the skirt steak salad and meatball sandwich...so I ordered the meatball sandwich with onion rings, and my friend had the skirt steak sandwich...both were really YUMMY (i had her leftovers since she was leaving town) and I totally inhaled all of my onion rings...and mind you, with ranch...and she had her french fries with mayonnaise....haha...if they weren't heart-attacks-waiting-to-happen enough already...
really enjoy the food...so for those who live in Morgan Hill, check it out if you haven't already...coz I doubt I'd be down there any time soon...
Glory Days: eff you! Won't ever pass through the threshold of your door again, not that I was welcome there anyway.
Did you ever have one of those days when you are so busy that the time for dinner comes and goes? Well, I did. On that dinner-less day, hot Blondie went on to describe how great Glory Day's steak salad was and that we should try it. Now, to be factual, Glory Days posted their closing time at 9pm. We walked in at 835pm and were turned away. You closed 25 minutes early? Really? So, my money and I went elsewhere... another restaurant that "closed" at 9pm that took us and three more tables! Imagine that! An establishment that stayed open where the waitress got tipped and the place made some money. So, Glory Ds, what story do you think I will be telling people about my experience the other night?
I'll start by saying that I built and ran a nice sports bar & grill on the southern coast of Thailand (the only one with 11 TVs and 6 international satellites while serving New Zealand beef on our famous burgers!), so eating in a sports bar and grill is nothing new to me. But when I went inside this place the first time it brought back memories. Just like my place, the walls were decorated with sports memorabilia and smelled of burgers and beer.
The staff there are quite friendly and promt at greeting you at the door. I took three of my collegues there for lunch last week and we all ordered something different, but we shared the very tasty onion rings. A must to try!
I had their burger and it was cooked as ordered and the fries were steaming hot. Our beverages (sodas, etc, since we were working) were constantly refilled. We even asked for separate checks and the server didn't mind at all.
Even the bathroom is decorated with sports stuff and fitted with a TV!! Now that's an idea I didn't think of in my bar! Mmmmm.
Great place for lunch and to take some friends. Watching a game is not as important as the atmosphere.
So getting me to drive to Morgan Hill from the west side of San Jose on a rainy Thursday night is no easy task, but hey we had a babysitter and a reccomendation so what the heck. We met a couple friends at Huntington Staion (formerly glory days) and was very pleased with the evening. It's a very comfortable sports themed pub with better quality food then expected.
The selection of appetizers was impressive and presentation of them was even better. The attention do to detail did not go unnoticed and was appreciated. In fact there is very little chance I would have even considered Salmon from a pub if the quality of the previous dishes wasn't as good as it was. My wife had the chicken picatta which did not appear to be the most traditional preperation but since she mentioned she liked it more than once on the way home is good enough for me.
Lastly and what will bring us back for sure is the courteous service we received from Cody. Super attentive, upbeat and friendly, he made us feel like we were friends visiting for a super bowl party or something. As I mentioned we were very pleased and will go back!
This is a good restaurant for any day of the week.
Friendly and attentive staff, good food and service.
Entrees can be pricy, so I stick to the sandwiches mostly and they are yummy.
glory hole
Went to Glory Days last night for dinner. They have lots of beer on tap which is awesome but if you would like more you have to flag someone down to get it. I left my water cup at the end of the table for almost 10 minutes before I had to flag one of the girls down (good looking, all brunettes though). If I wasn't so lazy I could have gotten up and gone to the bar to get water. The food was excellent a bit pricy I though for the amount. $7 for 4 potato skins. We had the steak salad, nice that they seperate all the ingredients on the plate so you can eat or not eat what you please, plenty of steak, would have liked a little more lettuce as I did order a salad. We also had the fish and chips, huge piece of fish and the fries were gigantic although not very many of them.
Overall will go back for a good meal!
because the new food establishment next to the old specialized bike store blew me and my 3year old off and didnt want to help us when we walked in ,they can piss off ,buckers.we went to glory days ,now i drove by glory days so many times and seen the bar and tv s going on ,and always said i wanted to try it ,yea finally i did ,and the fish and chips were great, whoo hoo,now back to the story ,we walked in and were seated properly like we should ,maybe 4 or 5 peeps in there at the bar,and two girls working,we ordered are food and it came it was looking good ,are waitress walked away, aftre a few minutes i need some more sauce for my fish and our waitress was talking at the bar with the customers, really loud like she wanted to be the the center of attention ,i needed a drink now another coke ,,i could not get her attention as she was flapping her lips and wouldnt stop talking finally the smaller darker haired girl walked up to us and said is everything alright,i said no actually i need a coke and more sauce for my fish and chip,as i have been waiting for a while because our waitress has not shut her mouth and i could get her attention, now my food is cold ,she looked at me as if she wanted to say your right , she is worthless i seen that in her face ,she new as a good waitress that our waitress was worthless, she went back and got me a new soda and sauce for my food, and said she was sorry that i had to go through that, she talked to my daughter to make me feel better im sure ,but the damage was done.well i payed for my cold food and left.i wont go back and will not let anyone i no go there, yes that might be to xtreme but companies rely on people on word to mouth right ,so they shouldnt be letting this crap happen, especially when theres only a few people in the store,i believe that good customer service is great and makes people come back and i did not get it so for that they can forget my business and the many that will attempt to try to go there that i will stop from going,to them my business loss is nothing cause people will keep going of course ,read these reviews of all these people that enjoyed it,most are yuppy or lame im sure.but good for them.hopefully they will right something here when one of there waiters spill cold be or hot coffee on there balls.im done piss off,and so much for me trying to help the small down town stores around here ,cause if they cared none of this crap would not be happening to people ,i guess they can afford to loose customers ,well then thats ok with me ,bye
Chill place, good atmosphere. I'm usually there for lunch . Their Apple Valley salad and Salmon Club are really good. I've tried their Chicken Philly Cheese Steak as a healthier option to the regular Philly Cheese Cheese and it wasn't satisfied. Chicken was a little dry and flavorless. Cheese fondue was a little ordinary. Everything else, no complaints. Good prices for lunch, especially if you're a sports fan like myself you can get updated!
I eat at Glory Days about 3 or 4 times a month. Their food is great and service is terrific =D Kristin is the best waitress in Morgan Hill...friendly, attentive and did I mention, awesome?! I usually get a chicken caesar salad, but instead of caesar dressing, I order their great vinaigrette dressing. Glory Days serves everything from pasta to pizza.
Glory Days is my favorite place in Morgan Hill. When me and my friends get together we have a great meal here, a beer, and watch sports. It seem perfectly fine to have 1 person in my party wearing a suit, 1 casual clothes, and 1 just out of the gym. It's a relaxing place that I highly recommend.
I love that it's a Sports Bar with GREAT Tasting food.
The burgers are big and juicy.
The salads are stacked and fulfilling.
The appetizers are different & yummy.
I've been here dozens of times and the service is always good.
It's good for kids, my son is 10 & he loves it!
They have TVs in the bathroom!!!
what more do you need?
I went with a few friends on a Saturday night. We showed up at about 8, sat down right away, and had a pleasant server experience. We practically had the place to ourselves after 9pm, as only one other group remained there until they closed (10PM).
The food was great (I had a cheeseburger and some garlic fries), but we were a little surprised at the end when the bill came.
Our server rang our credit card through for $4 more than the original-pre-tip bill. When we showed her she was quick to offer to take it off and re-ring it, but we just decided to put it towards her tip.
So, in summary: The food is great, the server was nice, but check your bill before you pay.
This is our favorite sports bar in MH. The quality of the food is excellent, you can see a television from any seat in the house, and the beer is cold and perfect with their incredible burgers!
They've improved on their staffing levels from the past, and now we get really good and fast service whatever day of the week we show up. In fact, one of the waitresses there knows my order from memory (Thanks, Desiree!)--not that I'm a creature of habit or anything... :)
Intimate atmosphere, cold beer, sports and burgers. What more can you ask for?
They've got one of the best hamburgers in town, and the rest of their menu is surprisingly versatile and good for a sports bar.
Why the -1 star? Well, for one, the quality is uneven. We come here often and maybe 1 out of 5 times burgers are overcooked, etc. Also, the only real sports fans here are football fans (if even that) and there isn't much attention played to other sports.
This is a nice little place - definitely a sports bar, but also family friendly. Don't expect fast service when you go (Da Hill's service sector leaves a lot to be desired - this isn't just this restaurant) but do expect some delicious food. Try the garlic fries (yum!) or the chicken quesadilla!
Sitting outside is nice when the weather is good, too.
A sports bar with wonderful food and friendly service. This is not the dripping in oil bar food at most sports bars, instead, you get a nice smattering of California food supported by a few classics.
Went here for lunch and had the tailgater burger with fries. I wasn't to happy about the price being 9.50 but when I asked about what fixins come with the burger for no additional cost the bartender said you can put whatever you want on it for the same price so that justified the price a little. I got cheddar cheese, avocado, bacon, mushrooms and grilled onions. When I got my burger about 15 minutes later it was piled high. I asked for it to be done medium but it was definitly rare. I'm not really into a rare burger (i'm not sure if anybody is) but I ate it anyway and it wasn't 1/2 bad. The fries were on the lukewarm side so all in all it wasn't the greatest but if I came back and had the burger cooked right and the fries hot I would guess it would be A-OK.
I didn't have any beer but there draft selection looked like a small handful of beers especially for a sports pub.
Must be a pretty popular place for a weekday lunch it was packed.
This is often one of my first dinner choices when visiting friends in Morgan Hill. I tend to be pretty fond of Morgan Hill establishments because they're not as yuppy-ish and pretentious as so many other places in the south bay. Glory Days is a place where you can get good food (not great, but good) with very friendly service and orders that are never screwed up. This place has a very relaxed atmosphere and is definitely popular with the Morgan Hill locals. I also really appreciate the fact that they have a decent wine selection for a sports-bar type of place. Don't expect fine-dining, just expect well-made food served by friendly people.
Sports bar and restaurant with seating for 75. Food is absolutely wonderful, but after being open for close to a year the customer service sucks. We've been 4 times in 6 months and each time it took over an hour to get our food.
Kristin Jones is by far the Best waitress! :)
I really like this place, their burgers are the best in town, and their other sandwhiches have always been great too. It has a sports bar atmosphere which is fine by me, this place is way, way, way, better than the "other" sports bar in town....
We recently began frequenting this sports bar again. It's more of a restaurant that just happens to have some TVs than a stereotypical sports bar. When a game's on, you may very well be the only person in the place cheering at a good play.
The food is really good: burgers, sandwiches, soups, even the pasta--and I'm picky about my pasta.
The hamburger here is great and the salmon in the salmon club was cooked perfectly. I have never had a bad meal here but the atmosphere leaves a little something to be desired. Other than that this is a quality place.
Great hamburgers and fries. I like the way they offer this on the menu. youcan build your burger. Don't build to high, they are very generous and you won't get your mouth around it. LOL. Mushroom soup is yummy.
It's alright...Okay it's f 'in fabulous! OMG!
This is one of the better restaurants in Morgan Hill, but I don't seem to go here that often. The food is definitely good, with yummy salads, burgers and sandwiches. The atmosphere is okay, probably a lot better if you're into sports (which I'm not so I'm biased.) For some reason I don't typically think of this place when I'm choosing to dine out. Maybe they need to do something more to draw people in?
Burgers are solid. The rest of the menu is solid. Cool little place.
