Sangria, pupusas, caldo de siete mares(7 seas soup) calls for a perfect dinner for two or for a whole party!

I've been looking for this place for years because where exactly the place was and the name of it. Fortunately, about a year ago, I saw it on TV w/ Guy Fiere! I remember how the place looked and everything!

I couldn't wait to go find the place where I ate 3 burritos and 2 pupusas in one sitting because it was so good.

Let me just say, it hasn't changed at all. This time however, I got the caldo de siete mares. Boy is that thing packed with seafood! It's a great dish for ANY seafood lover! I believe it's a must get when coming to this place.

When I travelled all of the 7 seas, I saw Gloria working in the kitchen and had to tip my hat off to her and thank her for a scrumptious dinner.

I'll see you again soon, Gloria!

My wife and I used to live right up the street, and frequented Glorias almost weekly at one time.  This little gem of a spot, tucked inconspicuously between a tire store (ask for Tom) and an bright new eyesore of a cell phone shop, is one of the best hidden spots in LA.  Or it was hidden, anyway, until Guy Fieri and the Food Network got their mitts on it.  Luckily the inevitable wave of hipster fandom has ebbed and it's possible to get a table on a Saturday night again.  Even with the wait, it is more than worth it.

Best bets:  Start with a Pupusa or two (the spicy slaw that comes with it is amazing); more onto the Carnitas Plate (if you're a verde guy, like me) or the Carne Adobada (if you're more into rojo);  the soups (both the 7 Seas and the Tortilla) are fantastic for a cold day.  And the fish dishes I tried (Pescado de Ajo and the Fish Tacos both) are damn good too.

Overall, I'd have to rate Gloria's as one of my favorite, if not my #1, restaurant in LA, and definitely top of the charts for the price.  If there's one thing I miss about LA (aside from dear friends and family who support and love me yadda yadda), it is Gloria's.  Hi Gloria!  Hi Rene!  We miss you guys already!  Come to London...and bring some verde with you!

If anyone happens to be in the L.A. area and is craving some good Mexican food, you MUST check out Gloria's Cafe in Culver City. A total hole in the wall restaurant sandwiched in between a tire shop and upholstery store in a little crummy strip mall, but some of the best food I've had in a long time.
I had the Carne Asada and it was THE BOMB.
And their chips and salsa...again, THE BOMB.  The chips were nice thick homemade tortilla chips and the salsa was perfect.

Gloria's has a decent Yelp deal for family-style Salvadoran and Mexican classics.

We started with a couple Pupusas for $4.50 (stuffed thick corn tortillas) served with a smooth Salsa and sliced Cabbage. The Revuelta (Pork and Cheese) was more satisfying than the creamy Loroco (Cheese & Herb) although both lacked much uniqueness. More oomph was needed for the Pupusas despite the additional salsa.

To go with the free Corn Chips and hearty Salsa, we got a $5 bocadito of Guacamole. It arrived lightning quick and is a smoother, softer guac than many restaurants. It had almost no spice, but still appeased our dipping cravings. To be honest, I kind of liked the Guacamole with the Pupusas more.

For the main dish, we took a cue from the waiter for his recommendations. The Carne Adobada comes loaded with soft pieces of Carnitas (pork) in a thick tomato and spice sauce like a thick stew. It came with a side of Black Beans and Rice with $2 extra a couple grilled Platanos (banana-like fruit) on top. It may a Gloria's  house specialty, however, it didn't really taste "special." Each pork chunk was fine and soft. My favorite part of the plate may have been the fresh warm Flour Tortillas served on the side.

The other recommendation was Camarones al Mojo de Ajo which featured several grilled Shrimp topped with a Garlic Sauce. The dry shrimp left both Olivia Z. and me wanting more. Perhaps the Camarones a la Diabla in a spicy sauce would have been better. The food wasn't spectacular or horrible. We left stuffed.

From the moment we arrived, the trio of guys that helped us were friendly. They really seem to enjoy their job and Gloria's Cafe truly has a family feel to it. Unfortunately, my water never did receive a refill despite asking and setting it on the edge of the table in view.

There were several groups of families having a good time nearby which added to the atmosphere. The menu had food/sauce on it and the table wasn't the cleanest, but I didn't necessarily expect more. It was a hassle finding parking at first, but a spot finally opened up on the small strip mall lot.

Gloria's is a nice local Mexican & Salvadoran restaurant for the Culver City / Palms area and a totally A-OK 3-stars.

I went to Gloria's the other night with a couple of friends.  The inside is cute and there was no wait.  Very friendly staff, and fast service.

I ordered the number 11, which is a tamale, an enchilada, and a taco.  I was very ambitious and ended up taking more than half of it home.  The tamale was excellent.  Perfectly cooked and flavored.  The enchilada was also really yummy.  The taco was a big fail.  Dry, flavorless.  Still the other items made up for it.  My friends both had burritos and they were ginormous.  The both said they were delicious.

Easy parking out in front or around the corner.

This is a  festive and lively litlle hole in the wall that dishes out fantastic food!
Gloria is the real deal. She treats everyone like royalty and checked on us many times to make sure we were happy.  Prepare yourself that you will have to wait for a seat and the food might take some time, but understand that your meal is made to order with lots of love and care!

I plan to eat my way through the menu and enjoy plenty of beer and sangria while I do!

Whenever trying out a new Mexican restaurant, I like to try their soup - either a chicken or seafood stew. Gloria's didn't disappoint with its "Sopa de Siete Mares." The yumminess included big pieces of fish, four crab legs, mussels, octopus, shrimp, and veggies. In fact, it was even better as leftovers two nights later. Hey - don't knock it 'til you try it.

Omg. V and I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant, and we finally found a decent one on the west side. We've been so disappointed by the Mexican food on our side of town and this restaurant was so, so yummy! Their portions are HUGE and everything tastes fresh and homemade. The restaurant is small, so make sure to get their early if you want to grab dinner on a peak day. I've heard lunch is a lot less crowded.

    I highly, highly recommend:

Carne Adobada ($12). Chunks of tender carnitas in this delicious red adobada sauce. It tastes so wonderful with the rice they serve with it. Don't forget to add a side of plaintains!

Enchiladas Suizas ($9). Omg. Such a good deal for the amount of food you get! I love green enchiladas and the sauce was so tangy and the shredded chicken and cheese in the middle were so flavorful. It comes topped with sour cream and guacamole. Everything together makes the perfect bite. Mmmmm.

They also serve seafood items and Mexican hot chocolate.

The food here is A-OK! Had the carne adobada and loroco pupusas.  The carne adobada was super delicious! Very flavorful and fall apart tender.  The pupusas were very tasty.  The plantains were only okay.  The sangria was surprisingly delicious.

All in all, it was a pretty good meal.  The reason for 3 stars? It's right next to Versailles.  If I have to choose, I'll choose Versailles every time.  Sorry Gloria's!

    Great food, good service!

I've been to Gloria's several times, and every time I've ordered something different, all of which I've loved! My favorite dish so far has probably been the Adobada plate. I asked for it spicy, but I've never had it not spicy, so I really don't know the difference between the two. The sauce still wasn't too hot, but really delicious. I've also had the nachos, chiles rellenos, and tamales, while my boyfriend's had the burritos and chimichangas. From what I've sampled from his plates, those were all delicious as well! He's a big fan of the sangria, but I'm not too much of a drinker so I usually pass. Chips and salsa are also really good here, and even though the portions are kind of small, they always are on hand with more refills!

The only thing I took a star off for was the fact that service isn't 100% here. The last two times at Gloria's, my boyfriend and I waited 40+ minutes for our food. The last time we waited nearly an hour from the time we ordered for our food! I guess that's the downside of going at dinner time when the restaurant is super packed.

Overall, the long wait doesn't really scare me off, since I'm usually there at least once every couple weeks!

I really wanted to like this place!  But sadly the service we got was just so horrible that the food did not make up for it.  Came with the BF on a typical busy friday night. Luckily (plus 1 star) or unluckily we got seated rather quickly however it took a while for our server to come. SInce it was busy I let it slide. Once we ordered we patiently waited and literally everyone around us got their food and even paid and left. Our order was rather simple a popusa for him and the platanos for me.  Yet 25 minutes later we had been served nothing, not even chips like everyone else. We flagged down another server and kindly asked how much longer our food would take. He rapidly went to go check (plus 1 star) for us. Finally our server came with the lamest excuse "popusas take a while, it should be out soon."

Homie Ive seen the popusas lady make some in less than a minute! Don't lie! Finally our food came out. Five minutes later server came back "is everything finally ok?" with the rudest undertone ever. Then we never saw him again. People still need refills on the water!! So we nicely paid and left.  Wont be coming back here anytime soon!

I'm so glad this place exists. Where else can you get dinner for $4.50 on the Westside? 2 pupusas on their own was enough for me. I got the loroco and the frijol y queso and both were delicious. They weren't the best pupusas I've ever had, but they were excellent considering the location and the price. The curtido on the side was definitely the tastiest I've had, though.

The restaurant was super busy and we wanted take-out, so the bartender was nice enough to take our order even though it wasn't his job. Needless to say, he got a nice tip.

i LOVE Gloria's Cafe!  It's become on of my favorite go to spots in the Palms/Culver City neighborhood.  The staff and the owner and her family are very nice and helpful and the food is deliciious.  If you come here DEFINITELY try the Carne Adobado, any of the Pupusas (get the Plato typico), or the chimichanga plate.  I heard the 7 seas soup is wonderful too, but I haven't tried it yet.  If you're a fan of sangria as well, they have the best sangria on the Westside.

One negative note, as with any place on this side of town, parking is very hard to find, but with this place it's definitely worth it!

Since I work so close, I've been a lunch regular here for several years now.  Loved this place.  (Notice the past tense)

Was craving their carne adobada today.  Headed over and waited a few mins for a table.  45 mins later...walked out...with an empty stomach.

For those of you who are fans of the pupusas, this is a must try. Nice crispy pupusas, with just the right amount of stuffing. I ordered the revuelta (pork and cheese) and found it quite scrumptious. The tamales were a little dry for my liking, but still good (the Salvi tamales not the nasty Mexican kind).

My friend ordered pupusas and what appeared to be the greatest tortilla soup I've ever seen. Definitely lived up to the hype and a must try for any fans of Salvi or Mexi cuisine.

Holy mother. I can't believe I have lived over two years just three blocks away, and have never been here. Until last weekend that is.

Definitely some of the best, quality Mexican/Salvadorean food on the Westside here in Los Angeles. So good that I swear they are putting something psychedelic in their food. I ate here and had strange dreams of lime and pineapple-laced weed.

So I had the Plato Tipico, which consists of a pupusa, yuca frita, chicharon, curtido, platanos, rice, and beans. Right off the bat; don't be afraid of the fermented cabbage relish (curtido). It is very light, and works well with the pupusa. When you have the pupusa with some curtido and salsa, an amazing, orgasmic explosion happens in your mouth. Orgy delight! Oh, and the pupusa I had consisted of queso and pork within some maiz dough. Some corn-y delight indeed.

The sides on the plate are amazing. The yuca frita was light, crispy, and way better than any other fries I have had in quite a while. The cassava is a magical thing. Of course the chicharon was tasty... who doesn't love fried pork? Oh right, vegetarians. You're missing out, and don't eat my pork, too bad for you. Finally, the rice, beans, and the platanos. The texture of their beans was wonderful... completely mashed up in a paste form and mixed with some rice made it even easier to eat. I didn't think platanos in beans would be tasty, but they proved me WRONG!

Can't forget about the sangria... with a little lime and fizz it was INCREDIBLE.

Before long, we were suddenly full and finished, and stumbled home. I am glad I live close by; street parking in our area is a pain in the butt.

Definitely coming back here again, and I will see if I have psychedelic dreams again.

Any place that sells pitcher sangrias are okay in my book. It's a great way to start a dinner. Pairing that with their delicious pupusas is a perfect combo. Their are four different kinds to try and I would suggest getting one of each. The cheese and herb is the best in my opinion.

Bistec Encebollado is a really good entree. The steak is really tender, but make sure you add a little bit of rice and beans to each bite because the sauce is a bit salty. I still give it two thumbs up.

This place is good to take a date. Good food with a somewhat romantic candle lit setting.

    Ah-ma-zing.

I don't eat rice or beans so I always order ala carte tacos and taquitos. First I ordered the beef taquitos and a pupusa. The pupusa wasn't my thing but BF loved it. The crudite you put on top of it was super tasty (like spicey cole slaw). The taquitos were soo good. They totally handmade them right after I ordered them. It had super tender moist tastey shredded beef inside. Came with gauc and sour cream. I swear it was the best sour cream ever. After loving the beef taquitos I ordered the shredded beef hard tacos and they were amazing. Moist & tastey, just like the taquitos. They were also decent sized and I had a hard time finishing it. BF got the fried plantain platter which came with sour cream and black beans - big enough to be a entree.

We split a "mini" pitcher of sangria for $14, it was about 5 glasses and we didn't realize how drunk we were until 30 minutes after we left and we were going overboard in yougurtland.

Service was great and super attentive.

So pitcher of sangria, fried plantain platter, 2 pupusas, taquitos and tacos + tax = $38. Snap!

My Yelp senses must have been tingling because with literally no aid from my phone or Yelp in any way I found myself drawn to the giant neon Pupusa sign at Gloria's. Come to find out they are up more than 700 reviews and at 4 stars that's no shabby thing. I was proud.

Having literally been sucked in here by the PUPUSA sign I ordered 6 pupusas to go, 3 revuelta and 3 frijol y queso. The total was around $13. So, not super cheap but not super expensive either. I waited about 20 minutes and then I had a big bag of pupusas plus some curtido and salsa in my happy arms.

Housemates were happy to try something new and I was happy to share my knowledge of Salvadoran cuisine.  I found the best way to explain a pupusa to them was as a jazzed up quesadilla.

Both pupusa varieties were delicious. I've had better and cheesier but these were still awesome and since it's right down the street from me, more than welcome in my life. The frijol was very good, the revuleta was good.  Next time I may just try the original cheese, for purist's sake.

Definitely a nice discovery in my neighborhood!!

I know this place can be better, but we had a bad experience here tonight. The service was friendly, but unapologetic after making my family, wait over 40 minutes for dinner. For those of you without children, hungry and cranky children do not make for happy parents. Clearly displeased, perhaps one might think a free appetizer would be sent our way, or even a simple, "I am so sorry for the unacceptable wait." We received neither.

Once the food actually arrived, the pupusas were cold and not as good as advertised. The Mexican fare was typical and average at best. Both my wife and I paid 2 extra dollars for fried plantains only to receive three measly pieces each. That's probably one banana for 4 dollars! You'd get an entire bowl just a block away at Verseilles. The only reason this place gets 3 stars is because I have been here once before and did receive better service.

Anyone familiar with DDD with Guy Fieri know that the places can be hit or miss. I'd say he missed on this one. According to Wikipedia, there are over 1.5 million Salvadorians living in Los Angeles. One of them has to make a better pupusa.

Food: I had the shrimp in spicy sauce which was about $12 and pretty good. My friend had the burrito which he really liked.

    Price: Reasonable

My husband and I  saw this restaurant featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives." We would have never ventured into a restaurant that is flanked by a tire place and a no-name cellular dealer. But, WOW! It's a great place.

The food is fantastic. I am a fan of the Carne Adobada. My husband swears by their tacos. Everything we've tried on their menu is delicious. The Seven Seas Soup requires at least one friend to help ;)

What I love best about this place is that the staff always comes to say, "Hello. Nice to see you again." That's such a small detail, I know. But it is very welcoming and genuine.

I wanted to love Gloria's because I've heard so many great things, but alas I cannot. I've been here twice and each time had it's weaknesses.

My first visit was on a lazy weekend afternoon. I ordered two loroco pupusas and they came to the table undercooked. I didn't bother complaining but maybe I should have.

My second visit was with a group of five friends. We dinned for about an hour and enjoyed lots of sangria. When it came time for the bill, a credit card issue came up. They limit the bill split to something like 2 credit cards max per table. When we pleaded with our server to allow more credit card transactions, she responded with a rude "There's an ATM over there." My friend who is a regular at Gloria's and suggested we dine there was embarrassed at the customer service.

    Was this review …?

For a period a few years ago I would come here somewhat regularly for dinner.  The food was always very good and the staff equally welcoming.  Since that time, the experience has undoubtedly gone downhill.  Perhaps it was gradual, but I had not been to Glorias in at least 18 months and experienced the decline all at once.  The staff now seems hurried and the kitchen has really slipped.

The salsa was flavorless, the beans seemed to have come straight from a can, the carne asada had what could be best described as an "odd" flavor, and the cheese enchilada was hardly cooked.

After waiting over a half hour for our food, this was a major letdown.

While certainly not expensive, at this price range there are plenty of other choices for a prototypical beans and rice combination meal.

best Pupussa, Sangria and great service.
Nice ly located in Los Angeles, close to Culver,Palms,Cheviot area.

The restaurant is very nice fron decor, presentation, food and service.
My first time to this place and will be back for more.
Let me put it this way, if you're a fan of Pupussa, this is the great place to get it. They also have great menu selection, mom and pop shop, so you can be guaranteed that this is very traditional compare to chain restaurant.

Price wise, well not that expensive for what it is.
Next time you go, just sit, enjoy your time, savour the food, and leave happy.

    Definitely recommended.

Don't be deterred from visiting this place just because it's a fusion of Mexican AND Salvadoran food. This cultural combination totally works.

We went to this place because it was on Dives, Diners and Drive Ins and it was DELICIOUS!

We ordered their 7 Mares soup bowl and it was really good--taste just like my moms. It's extremely hardy too with crab legs, fish, shrimp, scallops, squid and vegetables.

We also ordered the #7 plate: TACO, CHILE RELLENO AND ENCHILADA. My BF really like the taco and enchilada but I was crazy over the Chile Relleno.

They make it just like I do. Dipped in a tomato based sauce and it had just the right spicy kick.

The ultimate best part and icing on the cake was the price. Totally affordable!

    HOLY PUPUSA!!

this. place. rocks. First of all- finding the joint can be a bit tricky. It is sandwiched in between a few seedy looking establishments in a questionable neighborhood. That being said- everything else about Gloria's is amazing! The atmosphere is cozy and casual. The owners, as well as the rest of the staff, are extremely kind and attentive. The pupusa's are incredible- the cheese and herb pupusa knocked my socks off! Everything on the menu is delicious- you really can't go wrong! The sangria is killer, as are the local beers. We didn't know that this place was featured on triple D until after we left- I totally understand why!

Amazing food, killer staff and reasonable prices. I can't wait to go back!

Get the cocido!  It's a great beef soup at a great price. The owner Gloria runs this place with her two sons.

    All very friendly.

The chicken soup is awesome too.

The feeling you get from this place is something you will love.

Very good food! I've had this place bookmarked for a while, and I'm glad to finally give it a try. We started the meal with the papusas, and they were fairly average...you couldn't really taste the pork in the pork/cheese, and the cheese and herb was a little bland.

However, the rest of the food was excellent! We ordered the house sangria, and it was outstanding! We tried the carnitas plate, the roasted chicken plate, and the tilapia plate...all served with rice and beans. I also opted for the plantains, and they were excellent...highly recommended! All of our entrees were enjoyable!

Would love to come back, though I have to say that I prefer the Cuban versions of each entree (with black beans and rice). Oh and the service: outstanding!

I going 5 stars b/c I don't see how they could possibly execute their mission better.

No need to read beyond the first section top left page. But if you do, you won't be sorry.

I go salvadorian special, pupusa, tamale (green corn) and beans/rice.
I don't eat pork but I'm told that the pork and cheese pupusa is not as good and the loroco, cheese and herb.

Each visit the servers have been extraordinarily nice and pleasant.

I have ingested the margaritas as well, which are well done.

Price is right, love this unsuspecting hole in the wall, a gem within train of random spots along venice blvd.
