Review from Andrea M.
Nothing about taking your pants off in front of a stranger and having hair ripped out with wax screams "enjoyable"...at least not for most people. Any kind of routine maintenance with waxing, especially in more "sensitive areas", sucks. It's painful, slightly embarrassing, and on top of all that, you're usually shelling out between 45 and 65 dollars for a temporary fix (often complete with missed hairs and redness).
If I didn't have to swear off waxing to complete my laser hair removal sessions, Farah would be my go-to lady. I've had a lot of brazilians in my life and she is easily one of the best. Waxing isn't painless...but Farah is quick and makes the process much less uncomfortable than it normally is. I'm not sure if it's the type of wax or what...but she's doing something right!
She's also extremely easy to talk to. You don't feel awkward (even during the "flip") and she keeps the conversation light-hearted.
Would love to try this place for a massage or facial. -

I chose the Glo Skin Spa for my inaugural Brazilian wax (shudder) because it had nothing but rave, 5-star Yelp reviews. And now I see why.
A. It is impossible not to get along with Farah. She totally put me at ease and chatted amiably with me during the visit. She's extremely friendly.
B. She did a great job. Everything is gone. I am impressed. I am also a little sore. I'm doing this as a wedding present for my soon-to-be-husband, who I hope will be pleased. She mentioned that she has over a decade of experience at this, and it shows.
C. The space is really appealing -- very feminine and pretty and clean. -

I have been going to Farah for years, and yes, she is totally the bomb!! I get a facial every month and she absolutely does the best facials in the Cities. I have been to lots of other local spas and have always been let down when I compare them to Farah. PLUS she is hands down the best value for money. Super reasonable prices!!!
I love her space on Nicollet Ave - so convenient - and she is an absolute sweetheart. I recommend her to all my friends, and now all you Yelpers out there too! -

I feel kind of weird writing a review of my services here, like I'm letting the world too far into my personal... ermmm... space (if you know what I mean), but Yelp reviews are what got me to go here in the first place so I feel pretty obligated to throw in my 2 cents.
Farah gave me the first Brazillian wax I have ever received, and it hurt like hell. Despite the incredible pain she was inflicting on me for what seemed like an eternity, I found her to be very personable. She talked me through the process, asked about my family, and was a delight to talk to when she wasn't ripping the hair out of my body. She really is one of those people that you are instantly BFFs with. I love people like that.
I think that a lot of the "better" places to get waxing done are around $60 - $80, so the $45 price tag at Glo Skin Spa made me take a step back and wonder if I was going to get something really low quality, but I can genuinely say that I was very satisfied! In addition to the low price and excellent service, the spa is tiny and only allows for 1 client at a time. That means I got 100% attention the entire time I was there.
And, for the record, the first wax visit is by far the most painful. It gets better from there. -

This place is small but very comfortable and inviting, and the times are super flexible. It's also easy to get to and in a great location.
Cara, the massage therapist is wonderful, truly. She's very friendly, listens to what you need, makes great suggestions, and has fantastic technique! She also totally follows up and checks on how you're doing a few days later, super nice. Did I mention she has amazingly knowledgeable hands?! I'm so impressed by this little shop, and I can't wait to go again! -

Guess what. Farah is STILL the shit.
Pardon my language, but she just is. Less profane words wouldn't do her justice.
I feel like Farah and I are BFFs and I've only spent about an hour total with the girl. She's got this natural way about her that is simply lovely. It's hard to describe unless you meet her, but it makes her an easy lady to trust when she's focused on very intimate regions of the body.Listed in: Mother's Day Out, My Splurges, Wax On, Wax Off

I haven't tried the wax services as noted by the previous reviewer, but I have gotten 5 massages from Anne. Highly recommended!!!
I have tried 10-15 massage therapists in the past couple years and this is the first one that I know I will stick with long term. These are the reasons why:
-- I like supporting small businesses, but especially for a service like a massage, i like to know that the person I'm booking my appointment is going to be around long-term. So many times when I book an appt. at a larger place, the massage therapists are not there very long and then you never know if you'll like the new person.
-- A quiet, peaceful environment: the spa itself is a bit hidden, it is in the basement of an apartment building, so look for the sign. Most importantly, it is very quiet!! I have been to a number of spas where I can't relax because there is too much noise. This is really a small spa, so there isn't much chance of noise from outside of the massage room.
--Easy to get an appt. One place that I liked, I had to schedule appt.'s 3-4 weeks out. I don't know if my shoulder is going to hurt in 3-4 weeks and I very much appreciate being able to get an appointment within a week.
-- Most importantly, I love Anne! I have never had a massage therapist who is so knowledgeable about how the body works. While massaging, she has made comments like, you have been walking a lot this week, haven't you, I can feel it in your hip.
It is so obvious to me that she really understands how the body works, and so many people that I have been to don't seem to have this same skill. I usually go in to my appt.'s by saying that this hurts, that hurts, but do whatever you find. She has found my muscle knots every time. This is my number one thing I look for in a massage therapist- so many get so close to the knot, but don't actually get it from the right angle or that they don't really work at that spot very long, like they haven't even noticed it was there.
But, beware, Anne's massages aren't for wimps. This may not be the place for someone who wants an ultra light touch. I, however, like when my massage therapist has strong thumbs and knows how to use them.
She also kindly reminds me each time that I should be stretching more.
-- finally, I like that you can buy packages and get a discount if you are a frequent customer as I am.
Anne also offers Thai massages, and I have yet to try one from her, so I will let you know how that is when I do.
The only other thing that you should know is that you need to go to Gigi's to make the day complete. Gigi's is just a 30 second walk from the spa and is the best coffee house/ cafe around! Enjoy an excellent cup of coffee, pastries, pasta salad, etc. after your appointment! -

Best Wax I have ever had!!!
Farah is amazing, super professional (which helps when your taking your pants off), years of experience, uses the wax that I prefer, has a good fast and effective touch. The space is calming and very welcoming. Don't forget to check out the other services offered. -

I've had services done on the proverbial "Coasts". All I can say is that anyone from Venice Beach to Upper Manhattan would be jealous if they knew what Twin Cities locals were getting from Glo Skin Spa :)
Here's why:
1) The quality of services is through the roof. The latest advances in skincare are combined with no-nonsense treatments that get results. My skin always looks and feels great. Always.
2) The prices are crazy low. It's rare that a consumer gets more than what they pay for. I'm getting skincare for about half the price I would normally pay at a foo-foo establishment. For those on a budget, it means the ability to come in consistently. And that's important because some core benefits accumulate over time.
3) On a purely emotional level, I just really like my aesthetician. She's fun, detail oriented, and dedicated.
That's pretty much it. I love coming here. -

OK, this was my first Brazilian wax experience. So I have nothing to compare it to other than the stories I have heard. It was nothing like I was afraid it would be. I mean, this is an awkward situation, lets be honest. But she was very friendly, and explained everything. It wasnt as painful as I thought it would be, and it turned out great. I also had a facial after the Brazilian, and it was super relaxing and she did a great job all around. Its a small place, just one very cozy and soothing room. I highly recommend her.

I recently moved to Longfellow and have been looking for a good place in the neighborhood to get a facial. I heard about Farah from a friend and I was blown away by the service. She is a calming force that did my dry Scandinavian skin wonders. Will probably go back as much as my pocketbook allows.
