Review from J G.
South Lake Tahoe, CA
We had a good experience here for lunch. We were 2 women over 40 years each dressed in resort casual wear. We were seated immediately in a room full of lunched dressed up ladies. We wondered where the men were, maybe segregation or just pure coincidence?
The food was above average. The building is charming. -

Tried to eat here in recommendation of hotel. Guess we didn't know secret password. Only people in place were in the bar. Told us to go out and go to the door around the deck. We were ignored. There was no one in the place! Too snooty for us. We left and went to a sportsbar around the corner.

Perhaps only having a chicken caesar salad isnt sufficient for rating a restaurant but I was really surprised at how good the salad was. The chicken was delicious and all else was tasty.

I had dinner with friends last night and it was great. I enjoyed the rosemary chicken pasta and the bread was incredible. The bleu cheese crumbles in the salad were really awesome. The waitress took great care of us and we didn't have to wait.

I come here for the escargot primarily -- best preparation I have ever had. Service and food are consistently excellent.
I once had a huge lobster tail...like 4 pounds. It was perfectly done, though I could never eat that much. Salads are great, food and service is excellent. There is a bar that has live bands who play...nice little date place.
Living in the Bay Area, this place rivals many of the better restaurants in the Bay Area. There is a place called Adelle's in Carson which I believe is comparable in price or more expensive...though the overall experience and food at Glen Eagles is way better.
Cheers! -

This place is fine if you are over 60 and drink a lot. The food is just OK, nothing to get excited over. Seems like a lot of the big shot old people in town go there..laywers, judges and the Mayor and the governer somtimes. I guess if you want to hang with those people...but as a place to eat, forget it. musc better places in Carson City then this.

This restaurant and bar is definitely the place for the locals to hang out. I appreciate it for the service that is generously provided to the business person - I can go in at any time they are open, ask for a table in the back where I can work and eat and take my time. I've enjoyed many an entree there; I often order the Caesar salad with grilled chicken - as good as anywhere, and twice the size! Many repeat customers love the fish tacos, and the specials are always excellent. They have always been extremely accomodating with special orders, group meetings, and any little favor I ask. Is it inexpensive - no. Is it the most exciting, trendy place in town - no. It just perfectly suits my busy and unpredictable day to depend on their friendliness and flexibility. SG

I have to agree with some of the people's reviews on here. This is were a lot of older people hang out and the food was pretty expensive and we ended up paying over 100 dollars for our food. We ordered an appetizer, food and then drinks for my date. I have to admit the food was great and wonderful, but the service was okay. It was quite slow to be honest and we were waiting quite awhile for the food. Was it worth the wait you bet and the portions were okay. My date was full, but I was still a little hungry. One thing great was that they gave us free dessert which was so good when we got back to our place.

This place has a nice, country club look on the outside so we tried it out, hoping for cozy atmosphere and good food and friendly service. Wrong! It was the type of bar that, when you walk in, everyone stares at you like you are an intruder. The Bartender, who should have gotten out the the business years ago, was the ringleader and acted like we were bothering him by wanting a drink. We tried to cheer up the locals but they were having none of it and we left, never to return. We didn't get to the food, getting a menu to look at was trouble enough.

I just went for appitizers and drinks, but left after an hour. The service was terriable and the food seemed on the expensive side for what it was. I think I was tthe youngest one there! But there did seem to be a lot of heavy drinking going on. If you want excitement, this ain't it!

Glen Eagles is a very good restaurant with excellent service and delicious food. While a bit pricy for Carson City, the evening is definitely worth it. There are two variations on rack of lamb that are both excellent, and the Ahi special was first class.
