6 reviews for Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center
Spacious and quiet hotel on Long Island.
So I was visiting friends on Long Island and ended up here because of Priceline. The price I got was better than other chain hotel/motels nearby- like Red Roof Inn or Holiday Inn. The mansion is pretty nice and the fountain outside is cool, especially at night. The grounds are very green and full of trees. Its also quite sprawled out.
The room I got was in the wing attached to the mansion itself. There weren't too many other guests around. The bed was comfy, and the room and bathroom was clean. The tv was an older tube tv. AC was definitely nice. What I really liked was they had the ipod alarm clock- quite useful to play music. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I had to call up the front desk who sent a maintenance guy to check it out. After 20 min of checking, he concluded there was no power cable and went to get me one.
They also have an outdoor pool and indoor pool and jacuzzi. It was actually the last week of "pool weather" when I was there so we had hit up the pool a couple days to catch some rays. It wasn't heated but it was clean. The lounge chairs in the grassy area tended to attract bees.
The only downside is that there was no mini-fridge in the room. Maybe you can specially request one.
If you want a nice, clean, and quiet place to stay on Long Island that has natural beauty and green foliage, this is the place to stay. It may be a bit further from things, but sometimes its just nice to relax away from all the hubbub.

Conference Center.
This conference center boasts 50+ acres of land and is quite the sight when you drive up - but I do not believe it is an original Gold Coast mansion, just built to look like one.
I attended a corporate event here in the summer and on a scorching hot day we had the use of the pool - which made the thing totally enjoyable.
The grounds to me are ok- probably better if you are going to have a wedding there. There were some dormitory looking buildings behind the main building which take away from the total look and feel.
Overall a nice place and when there, you'll totally forget you are 20 miles from NYC.

Instead of booking a room at either of the choices (Hampton Inn and LaQuinta) provided by my brother for a family affair, my wonderful son-in-law worked his usual magic to "Priceline" a hotel for three couples. Our prize was the Glen Cove Mansion & Conference Center. I won't even tell you the price because you'll all be jealous, but suffice it to say that it cost A LOT less than the two choices above.
The environs are very beautiful, what with 50+ acres of well-landscaped surroundings, hills, and fountains. The mansion itself, which you encounter as you drive up to the front, was originally known as The Manor House, and later the Harrison House Conference Center, according to the Website. "The mansion is set in the Dosoris Park area of Long Island's Gold Coast--home to the spectacular family residences of wealthy magnates from the 19th century on."
The buildings behind the mansion house the "hotel" portion and aren't quite as luxurious, and getting there was interesting. We literally needed a map for directions. We drove from the mansion to the lower lot and parked, and then had to drag our suitcases (without a cart) up a long walkway and then up a flight of stairs. Luckily it had stopped raining, or our stuff would have been soaked.
The rooms are satisfactory and clean (I wouldn't want to pay much more than we did for them) but we didn't get exactly what we ordered. There were two double beds instead of the king we requested, and no other rooms were available when we checked in. I had requested a refrigerator when I had spoken to the place during the week, but that wasn't in the room, either (they did bring me one at around 12:30 a.m., about half an hour after we arrived).
The grounds are gorgeous and would be an excellent venue for a wedding. In fact, chairs were set up on the lawn outside our room, and it was quite a sight with the fountains, trees, etc. It looked like a scene from Gone with the Wind.
My complaints are that I love almost scalding water in a shower, and the temperature never reached anywhere close to what I enjoy. The tub was a little slippery, and shampoos and conditioners weren't replenished on Day 2. Soaps were from Crabtree and Evelyn, I believe, and were kind of puny. Furthermore, for what they normally charge for the$e room$, one would expect a fantastic TV. Not the case here. The A/C was noisy, but at least we had some.
I would return only if my SIL could work his magic once again on Priceline and we happen to need a room near Roslyn, NY. (For this past Friday night, he actually Pricelined a Hampton Inn for $55 for him and my daughter in New Jersey. Go, SC.)

Ive read about the glen cove mansion a while ago and I was dying to try it..The place had so many activities to chose from.
Driving up the glen cove mansion I was blown away. The place is really a mansion.
Until we walked in,what a dissapointment. There were about 400 kids in the lobby, some of them seemed high and obnoxious. And that's when the hosts broke the news to me "They are having a junior high school prom here and a wedding tonight".
I had planned this to be my calm get a way weekend, quiet full of tranquility. While standing in the lobby I kept on getting pushed or getting yelled at to get out of the way because they were installing the things for the prom or because they were worried parents coming through.
Isnt their a back entrance to bring in this stuff, and not disturb the guest?
We got to the room and it was pretty nice, very comfortable and very clean.
This would be a nice place to have a wedding just make sure that they do not have an event going on the day of your wedding..
I feel bad for the bride that had to battle out with the prom kids who kept on getting in her way..
I dont see myself coming here again.
I am sitting at Glen Cove Mansion as I type. Maybe it's my slight sleep deprivation from waking up at 4:30 this morning or maybe it's the big bowl of gussied up mac and cheese (well, it's fusili in a cream sauce), but I am a happy customer. (Again, maybe I am in carb/fat/cholesterol heaven and will soon experience the ethereal bends).
My husband is here attending a conference and I am channeling my Mad Men wifedom and accompanying him. I really feel I am in the last Mad Men episode because this might have well been the setting of the Memorial Day country club scenes. The lawns are perfectly manicured, there are geese grazing alongside a converted mansion, and the table settings are perfectly prim and proper. I keep wondering where's Draper?
Despite me wearing Mad Men-esque dresses, the rest is a departure from the 1960s Long Island. The staff, like most of our fine American establishments, is a lovely, accommodating, friendly Hispanic team. The rooms are actually not in the mansion but in a 1970s brick addition that twists and turns making your head spin.
It is nestled in the boon docks, so I suppose it's really just the den for Long Island brides seeking the "picturesque" (say that with your best Laung Eyeland accent) wedding venue or obscure conferences that your Mad Man husband is attending.
Long Island girls, your dream wedding location awaits you. Everyone else, wait until you're a fifty-something, balding sales executive or the beautiful wife of a young, savvy entrepreneur to visit.
Went to this place for a site after some people recommended it. They kept on saying how Glen Cove was a nice area, blah blah blah. Well, this place was not impressive at all. As I put it, "If this were my house, I'd be pretty happy, but as a hotel, I'd take a Hampton Inn over this place anyday."
The entrance way was worn, and when you walk in, it's a small lobby area. The staff is nice and the sales rep who showed us around was nice. Bless her heart, our potential account was dumped on her after the last girl left a few days before. She had no idea what was going on. She showed us the rooms, which were unimpressive, the hallways looked old and the floors smelled like chlorine because of the indoor pool. It had indoor racquet ball courts, which was cool, but man, you could almost die from inhaling all that chlorine.
The most impressive thing about the hotel was the renovated ballroom, with a drop down screen and ceiling-suspended projector. They said they had owners who were going to renovate the entire place, but I don't know, they'd have to put in some major time and money to make this place decent.
I think it would be a beautiful backdrop for a wedding, and guests who only need to stay one night and would be drunk enough not to care about the rooms too much. They're clean, but smell funny. Like musty. And the TVs are old CRTs. I feel like I've stepped back in time in this place. It feels like a convalescent home.
