I received a gift certificate to Glee Day Spa for a one hour massage and a one hour facial. This morning I had my massage portion with Amanda, and I'm holding off for now on the facial portion --so I will be sure to update my review after that.
I want to start this review with how to find the place. The address numbers are not located on the 45th side, but rather on the side of the building which is on Sunnyside st.--walk up the courtyard stairs and you will see a sliding glass door that reads waiting room on the outside #114--let yourself in and then find Suite 102. I'm usually really good with directions but I had to call to the Spa to figure this out, and Amanda was happy to meet me at the door.
Once we got inside the spa she had me sit down and ask me about how my body was feeling and what areas I wanted to focus on. I explained that I was ridiculously ticklish and what areas to avoid, and that I had really only ever had one full body massage before--all other times were only focused on my back. I told her I was open to whatever she felt she wanted to do.
I don't really know why, but for some silly reason I have always thought that hot stones were just supposed to sit on your skin, but was pleasantly surprised when she actually put them in her hands and massaged. It was so relaxing. She did a great job with the amount of pressure needed to work out my kinks/tightness. The massage, hot towels, hot stones, and aroma therapy were the perfect combination for a fabulous relaxing melt your stress away experience.
I can't wait to go back for my facial!!Comment from Amanda J. of Glee Day Spa 9/20/2011

I first tried out Glee Day Spa after purchasing a groupon-type deal. I bought a facial and eye treatment. it was performed by Alyssa. It was hands-down the best facial I have ever experienced. Oh my goodness. The facial massage which was part of the facial was wonderfully relaxing and made the facial that much more relaxing. Heavenly. I booked a second massage with Alyssa and this time paid the full price. I do say, it's a bit on the pricey side, but when you experience how amazing this facial feels, you will be completely sold. I even went on to buy a 4 massage package deal (which allows you to get the 5th one free!). I have gone back again since and cannot wait to go back for the next one. It's a true part of my wellness plan and keeps me on track to take care of my skin. Go see Alyssa. You and your face will thank you! :-)

Best massage and facial EVER! We'll be going back again (and again, and again!)
I have to say more, although what I say can't quite express how awesome Glee really is. This afternoon, I walked in an exhausted, slumped over mess. We had a deal on a group buying site start this morning, the phone and e-mail were blowing up all day and I'd only managed a few hours of sleep the night before. I nearly fell asleep in the car on the way and felt like I could barely get out of the car, when I did make it.
After an hour here, I felt like I'd had another few hours of sleep and had a lot of energy, yet I was calm and happy at the same time. I didn't even realize just how tense and knotted my shoulder was until Amanda fixed it. I entered feeling like crud and left feeling wonderful and happy. My husband was also in this afternoon, after a few hours of sleep and a full day of construction work and he feels fantastic too. He has this smile of contentment and well being. It's awesome and we both feel fantastic!
There are two reasons that Glee is the best. Amanda and Alyssa are both consummate professionals, who take a great deal of pride in their business and it shows. Every contact I've had with both of them has been friendly, pleasant and happy. When Amanda felt how bad my shoulder was feeling, she did everything she could to work out all of the tension, while making sure that the rest of my body got the attention it needed too. She knows exactly what to do and how to do it. I feel like I can just lay down on the table and she'll give me exactly what I need.
Alyssa's facials are the most relaxing, rejuvinating skin treatments out there. She uses awesome products, her technique is fantastic and I walked out looking years younger. Not only did I look great that day, but the effects lasted well beyond. She's also amazingly friendly, cheerful and a pleasure to be around. It was my first facial and she's the only person I'll go to now.
The spa itself is this little oasis of heaven, that lifts it above and beyond. It's this cozy, comfortable little place where, the minute I walk in, I automatically relax. I can definitely tell that Amanda and Alyssa really love their spa, because it has all of these warm touches that you just don't find anywhere else.
Amanda and Alyssa care about their spa and they care about their clients, which is obvious in every aspect of their business.

I've been hearing about prenatal massages from other women in my yoga classes for months and they all talk about how you have to lay on your side during the massage. After laying exclusively on my side for the past 8 months, that just doesn't sound all that relaxing. I was so excited to learn about their pregnancy pillow that allows you to lay on your belly for the massage. It was WONDERFUL. Although I think at 38 weeks, my belly might be a tiny bit on the big side for the pillow, but I made it work.
I also decided to pamper myself with the Body Glow treatment, which was also wonderful. Amanda told me that my skin would be as soft as the baby's after the treatment and I think she was right. Although I'll know for sure in just a couple of weeks. :o) -

This review is just for Amanda's massage services. I've seen her a few times and she is so fantastic, I really need to put aside the $$ to go more often as it is money well spent. She is attentive, caring, asks the right questions...and I love supporting a local, independent business.
The only feedback I wanted to provide the ladies with is something I think they are probably aware of, in the new location it is not very soundproof. I can easily hear conversations in the other treatment room.Comment from Amanda J. of Glee Day Spa 5/6/2011

Where to begin? I'm a guy and though I wouldn't go out and book myself a facial on instinct, I have to say that this was an eye (& pore) opening experience. I was given a facial and massage as a Christmas present.
Both the esthetician and massage therapist were very professional and skilled. I must say that I felt a little like the Lion on the Wizard of Oz being pampered which was a treat and a little bit humorous from a man's perspective.
I highly recommend this place. It's in Wallingford / Fremont area which is great since it's close to so many shops and restaurants.

I recently had my first massage in over a year at Glee - I'm so glad I found this place!
I was really trying to find a day spa that wasn't a franchise - InSpa or Habitutde, I'm looking at you. I feel a lot better with my $1/minute going to great, enterprising women.
The space is a renovated basement - you can really tell the sisters have put a lot of time and love into the area. The room for massages is quiet, and you don't hear anything other than the quiet music and bubbling fountain.
Amanda was super professional, and combined a mix of Swedish and Hot Stone massage. Mmmm. It was the best massage I've ever had - most of the franchise-y places are a little unwilling to focus on the areas you want worked on the most!
Amanda and I sat down before we got started, and outlined where I wanted her to focus, and why. (Tension vs. relaxation) She worked through the knots in my shoulders and neck, then helped my whole back to relax. I was in there for 90 minds, and was able to get a complete body massage even with the 40+ min on my neck/shoulders.
I was able to nab parking right in-front of the house. There is street parking, but it is a residential neighborhood, so you might be parallel parking into a spot.
I've already scheduled my next appointment - and I know I'll be back after that one as well. -

Being a massage therapist myself I am picky of the treatments I receive. The space was really cute and well decorated and Amanda was wonderful. The massage was exactly what I needed. Some treatment mixed with relaxation. I will definitely be going back.

I have been here a few times for massages! I think we all can agree that spas are personal choices on many different factors. Couple of the reasons why I come here is because of the location and cost.
Granted, its a little different that its in a basement of a home in a residential area. Wallingford is a nice neighborhood! I really enjoyed my massages since she uses hot towels and hot stones during the massages! She also turned up the music as requested since I liked the relaxation music! -

I have been a client at Glee Day Spa for a couple of years and have never been disappointed. I started going for skincare and now tack on a massage. I have yet to find anyone else that can do a better job.
The two sisters run their business out of their home and are highly professional. Their prices are mid-range compared to some of the chains and the "ultra chic" spas that overcharge. The services are worth every penny. They have great package deals too! -

I have been going to Glee since they opened their doors almost 4 years ago! I have recommended the spa to about eveyone I know and will continue to do so.
Sisters, Amanda & Alyssa are about the friendliest, sweetest and most talented women you will meet. Their spa is amazingly relaxing and so far superior to the chains like In-Spa and Gene Juarez. The take the time to find out what your indivual needs are and never rush through your treatments.
I have received a handful of facials and about 2 dozen massages and will continue to come back again and again!Listed in: My favs

I received a http://Spafinder.com gift certificate from my fantastic sister as a gift. Upon exploring this website, I researched my options and decided upon Glee Day Spa, partly due to location, and partly due to the attractiveness of their website. It turned out to be a perfect choice!
This place is all about relaxing, being quiet, and in the moment of solitude and peaceful living. It is in a cute Wallingford neighborhood and provides a relaxing and unassuming atmosphere. I was immediately made comfortable and Amanda (the massage therapist) sat with me to review what my needs/points of focus were. Then I was escorted into a very comfortable and warm, quiet room. Once ready, she began work and verified with me that the pressure was as firm as I requested. The music was calming, not annoying, the conversation was pleasant and minimal (always my choice for a massage- I'm trying to relax here) and the overall experience is one I would like to repeat as frequently as I can possibly afford.
Ahhh- finally, relief for my kinked up shoulder! Those computers will do a number on you if you let them! Fortunately for my poor shoulders, I have Amanda in my court to work out the kinks!
I highly recommend supporting this spa, as they make a point to keep you comfortable, taken care of, and all with no hints of snootiness or being rushed for time. The massage was wonderful- Thanks Glee! -

I had a gift certificate from spafinder to burn and chose Glee Day Spa after reading reviews and checking out their website. I am so glad I did! I received a facial (my first) and massage; both were divine! Their new location in the Wallingford Workspace is charming and I love the calming design esthetic. The whole experience was so enjoyable that I took advantage of a Valentine's special and bought a facial and massage for my mom. I will definitely visit Glee again; highly recommended!

My mom and I went here this past weekend and it was great! It was a little strange trying to find their place at first, but what they have done with a little work space was very nice. It was a very hot day so they didn't turn the hot stone warmer on, my mom was OK because she was hot. I was mildly bummed because I have never had hot stones before (oh well, a reason to go back I guess!). We each got the delightful experience, facial and massage. The facial was nice, but felt a little rushed. The massage however, was AMAZING! My Mom and I have been to high-end spas in several parts of the world, but we both agreed it was one of the best massages we have ever had. I will totally be back for a massage with Amanda whenever I can afford it- The prices are very reasonable too :)

I had high expectations due to reviews. Received a gift certificate and choose to have a salt scrub and mini-facial. The treatments were fine but my low rating is due to the environment, the space. It was a tiny room and had two treatment areas but the room I was in was separated from the second treatment by a bifold closet door. Space between doors actually allowed a tiny glimmer of light to come through and the sound travel like I was in a treatment with another person! She was having a massage and I had to listen to her "sounds" and commentary during her massage. Not relaxing at all! I like peace, quite and privacy. Day Spa is a huge exaggeration.

Wow! This was one of the best massage experiences I have had. A lot of massage therapists seem to listen, but then give the same massage regardless of where you are tense. Amanda asked the standard massage questions but then actually tailored my massage to how I was feeling. So instead of walking out with my whole body feeling half done - i came out with my sore half feeling completely relaxed. And don't let this teeny girl fool you, she's stronger than she looks!
And I'll point out the same thing everyone else has - yes, it's in a house, but once you are in that door you are completely transported to a relaxing spa environment. If you didn't walk up to the house you wouldn't even know. It's super professional, very chic and completely relaxing.
and of course, it's great to a support small, family- and women-owned business. Kudos to Amanda and Alyssa for putting together such a fantastic place. I will most certainly be back! -

Hmmm. I know this place has gotten rave reviews, but I must speak of my unfortunate experience. My sister is in town from the east coast and I wanted to treat her with a prenatal massage. When I e-mailed to schedule an appointment Amanda wrote back giving a time of 1:15p. I e-mailed back to confirm to which she e-mailed back and again noted the 1:15p appointment time. Well, we showed up for our appointment at 1:15p and she was not there. After knocking loud on the door and calling numerous times, she finally picked up. Turns out she had mixed up the times and thought she had told me 12:15p, and was no longer at the spa. I can understand that errors happen, but after completely arranging our day around this appointment and trekking across town to get there, I would've thought something more than just an "I'm sorry" would've been offered. I feel that a good business would've given some sort of compensation, maybe a free wax at the very least since the error was on their part. Not that I'm out to get free stuff or that I would've even gone back for a free service, but it's the principle of the matter. It's not just one patron lost, it may have been a few since I would've spread the word had I gotten a good service. So sorry to say, it's one star for you.

I found Glee Day Spa through Spa Finder (I had a gift certificate) and after reading some reviews about the available spas in Seattle, I decided to go with Glee. I booked the Delightful experience (1 hr facial and 1 hr massage). The spa is in the basement of a residential home, but the girls have remodeled beautifully. My only complaint about the atmosphere is that while receiving my facial I could hear an infant crying.....and not just once, multiple times throughout the hour. I definitely want to give these girls credit for running a home business, but I'm sorry, when I go to a spa I am going to relax, and a crying child does not really make this happen.
As far as the services, I thought the facial from Alyssa was great (it was my first one). Great massage for face/neck/shoulders/arms/hands and my skin felt softer after. Next was my full body massage. Amanda used hot stones which was a treat, I just wish she would have used them a few minutes longer. The leg massage was done over the sheets (leg massages in the past have been directly on the skin which I prefer). Scalp massage at the end was just what I wanted. Both Alyssa and Amanda were very friendly and professional.
Overall, I thought it was pretty good, but I don't know that I'll return unless I have another Spa Finder certificate.Comment from Amanda J. of Glee Day Spa 7/24/2009

Love Glee - 3rd visit and I will definitely continue to come back to Glee. Easy to make appointments via email (for those of us that never like to call and make appts), reasonable prices, great hours that work well for those that work during the day, and overall just really relaxing experience. Alyssa has magical hands and being a bit of a spa and/or facial fiend -I definitely can say she hands down gives the best facial in Seattle. So gentle and attentive to details. She doesn't push products, and you leave feeling pampered and relaxed. Can't wait to go again.

I've had several massages from Amanda, both therapeutic and relaxation and I always walk out feeling energized and two inches taller! This time however, I came in for eyelash extensions. I had never had them before and had heard it was a long, tedious and somewhat painful experience. I never would have known. The space is cozy, quiet and very peaceful. Amanda warned me that this would be a long appointment and after asking me what music I would like, got me settled and comfy on her table (complete with comfy blankets and pillows under my knees!) she then explained the whole procedure to me and off we went! I was there for around 2.5 hours, but you could tell she was being very methodical and thoughtful about my lashes, which was defiantly worth the time it took. The untaping at the end was the only uncomfortable part (which should be expected given the delicate skin under your eyes) but other than that, it was a great experience with fabulous results!! I'm very happy with Amanda's lash work and will be returning again and again!

Amanda is a great massage therapist. She listens and has a very gentle and friendly manner. She applies warm cloths at the start to relax you and really does a great job of customizing the massage. I also love that she incorporates hot stones which is such a treat. The space is not fancy, so don't go expecting it will feel like a four seasons spa, but her room is very relaxing and the price is great for what you get. Highly recommend, I gave my mom a massage with Amanda for Christmas and now she is hooked!

My two sisters took me to this day spa as a surprise for my 30th birthday and I definitely plan on going back. The spa is run by two sisters (I'll call them the Glee sisters) and since they are the only staff there you get a very private experience. The Glee sisters went out of their way to make my birthday special. When we arrived they had set up wine with some snacks for us to nosh on between sessions.
My sisters had decided on the Blissful experience package for us, which included a massage, facial, and hand and arm treatment. The massage was great and I loved how the hot stones were incorporated into it. My sisters' favorite part was the facial, which also incorporated a bit of massage work into it.
The only suggestion I would have for the Glee sisters would be to provide chairs that were a bit more comfortable. Even better would be a chaise lounge to rest on. When you're waiting for your turn or someone to finish up their session, it would have been great to be able to stretch out.
