Yet another wonderful experience with the staff at Glamour! My mom had her hair done there last Friday for my son's graduation. She left looking absolutely fabulous. Not only did she look great, she felt great! Anything for my mom is what I say. I can't thank these folks enough for how they are always taking care of my family and I.
Thank you Veronica, America, Juan for working on my kids, my mom and myself all within one weeks time. You guys totally rock!
Anna

Alrighty so my girly Sandra moved from We are Hair to ISALON!!!!
She was at Glamour for a bit, but… Read more »
It's a classic and familiar tale:
*Girl meets hair stylist and falls in love with stylist's way with her curly locks.
*Stylist moves very far away.
*Girl goes into mourning and refuses to cut hair for several months.
I hate finding a new stylist, especially when I'm still longing for the almost soulmate-like synergy my last stylist had with my unruly hair. But after six months my tangled tresses started to shred at the ends and threatened to strangle me in my sleep unless I got them cut NOW.
So, the hunt was on. But like anyone who's had a first date THAT BAD, I was wary of even a trim with anyone new. I tracked down people with great hair and quizzed them on their salons. I perused every review of every East Bay salon I saw on Yelp. I wandered through several local places, vetting the vibes and the cuts of those who worked there. In short - I was procrastinating. Finally, I made an appointment at Glamour Salon in Alameda - a local salon that I could reach easily and which was getting some good review love.
With high ceilings and a slightly minimalist vibe, the space is pretty formal, but Glamour's staff is more casual in demeanor than you might expect. My stylist, Sandra, spent a decent amount of time asking me what I wanted and checking the texture of my hair. My great fear - that she would have to cut off several inches of split end glory - was quickly alleviated as she said only an inch would have to come off. She was gentle (no tugs) and friendly, and I was out the door with considerably more money in my pocket than I expected. Is my haircut a work of art like what I got at my previous stylist? No. But it flows well, is growing out nicely and cost me a LOT less too.
I loved this place! I went in two weeks ago to get color/ highlights done and I had a great experience. I was really nervous the night before my appointment because I'd never had highlights done. With the recent Jon and Kate controversy, the only highlights I could envision were Kate's fugly zebra streaks, so I was definitely anxious.
I made my appointment with America but I ended up having both her and Cece work on me. The whole process took almost 3 hours, but it was well worth it. The total price was only $135 (before tip) so it was extremely reasonable for all the effort they put in to make me look good. The salon itself was really clean; the receptionist swept as the stylists cut hair so the floor was pretty immaculate the whole time. I will definitely go back soon to get my roots done and I highly recommend America and Cece.
I totally love this place!
I went in looking for a new look and I mega-got-it. America did a great job! My hair was medium length, straight and mousy-brown. I left there with a shorter, highlighted, bouncy and totally rocken new look! I like a open airy feel of the place and really pleased with the price. I will be back again and again...!!
I have found my new salon and my new stylist. My appointment was on a Saturday so parking was scarce but I found a spot down the block on Pacific, not bad at all. I walked in and was greeted with a smile and I was told Juan would be my stylist. I waited while he finished up with the person before me and one of the girls brought me some water.
When Juan was ready for me he introduced himself with a smile and a handshake which is always encouraging when someone's about to take scissors to your hair. When he took me over to the sink to wash my hair he told me about the hot water situation:
THE HOT WATER SITUATION: Apparently because of the way the building's plumbing is set up, EVERY OTHER Saturday the hot water runs out in the afternoon. So if you're getting a shampoo this means only cool or cold water. I personally didn't mind this at all but I know some people will be annoyed by it so I would suggest either not going on a Saturday or calling ahead and asking about it. I found it refreshing.
We joked about it and Juan was very careful to warn me when the water was coming on so as not to surprise me with it.
Juan was fantastic, he is friendly and personable and fun to talk to. I really appreciated his way of cutting my hair as well, checking in with me about the length and style and making me feel like I was in control of how it was going to look.
After the cut, he spent a lot of time styling my hair and I was really happy with the result since I was going out that night.
I'm really happy with the cut and I will be making an appointment with Juan again soon.
Ya know...as a guy, you usually don't really think about finding a good place to get a haircut. But then you start going to Supercuts a little too often, and then Greatclips, and Fantastic Sams....and they just keep jackin' up your hair! You get sick of it!!!
That's what happened to me. So my buddy told me about Glamour Salon just opening up, and how there were some hot women cutting hair there lol. I thought to myself: "I guess the worst that can happen is I get another crap haircut, but at least there'll be eyecandy"
Soooooo, I dropped in one Saturday morning to get my haircut. And you know what?? My boy was right! lol
I was bummed out at first when they had a dude cut my hair, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise because he was damn good at what he does. He totally understood what I wanted done with my hair and made it happen. I didn't catch his name, but I'll definitely hit him up again for a haircut.
They charge $25 for a haircut and shampoo(for guys anyway), which isn't too bad for a haircut that you actually feel good about. I'll wish them all the luck, but not too much luck that I can't get any appointments anymore! ;)
Great little place. I've gone 3 times now and they always do a great job. As a guy, I'm out of there for $30 including tip, and while that is a little higher than I'd want to spend normally, it's worth it since the cut is very very good and it always grows in well. But what is GREAT is that they charged my girlfriend only $35, which is about half of what she was paying before!
I took my 10 year old daughter to have her first haircut (I have been cutting her hair for way too long now).
I picked Veronica as a stylist for her. My stylist is Juan but I thought that my daughter would be more comfortable with a woman cutting her hair. I picked Veronica because she was recommended by a friend. Veronica did the cutest little hairstyle! We came there with general ideas and she gave us very good advices on what would work and what would not work. My daughter was really happy, and so did I!

I used to go to We Are Hair of Alameda, which is just down the street from this place. Then one day, my stylist from We Are Hair (Carmen) called me to say she had moved to Glamour Salon.
I've never found someone who did my hair as well as Carmen did, so of course I followed her to her new salon. They could take me right away (probably because they're a new business) and the prices were actually lower than We Are Hair!
It's not quite as glamorous as We Are Hair, but it has a more light and airy feel. I think they also do facials and waxing here, but I haven't checked it out.
Even though I've moved away from the area, I'll be back for your great hair cut, highlight and style, Carmen!
I just got the best color and haircut ever at Glamour Salon. I've done them all - very expensive (too many uppity salons in the City to count) to bargain-priced (Supercuts), and I have to say this is the first time I got something better than what I asked for and I was moderately charged for it. Carmen did my highlights and color, and she was great. I like that she was low key, not very talkative but very pleasant. Although I saved some money by using a promo postcard they sent to me, I'll be going back even without the discount.
The place is pretty enough, but the girl who did my hair had no confience, at all.
The fisrt time I went there Amerika, did my hair cut, it was ok, not great.
the place is adoreable, so I guess on looks alone it's good, but not a good blow out or ont good color.
sorry chica
So I started off at another salon with the girls and have been with them ever since. I have been having my hair cut by them for 7 years now faithful client! I can't imagine anyone else cutting my hair! They do a great job and always make me feel like a million bucks. They are very down to earth and make you feel so welcomed! Their pricing is reasonable and I love the fact that they are focused on you when they are cutting your hair not talking to someone else or looking in 50 different directions! They have a very unique style in my opinion and never make me look boring! They are just FABULOUS!
This place is Great! I haven't gone lately because it's kind of out my way. All the girls there know how to cut hair and they all have done my hair at one point or another. Carmen and the twins are great. They all know what looks good and are very friendly.
