So the menu is getting ready to flip to fall, run in now and try the tomato bisque. A handful of crab with the velvety thick fresh jersey tomato bisque lovingly labeled on top, complimented with a chopped fresh basil leaf grown right on the patio! That same basil goes into the limited engagement caprice salad, artfully presented and as lovely to look at as delicious to eat.
The new tent seating is great, with the plasma TV and fire pit a perfect addition for the fall and a great place to watch the game versus in a stuffy bar.
If you ask nicely, the bartender may let you try a shot of Shiela's new Chocolate-cello. Imagine drinking chilled boozy fantastically rich chocolate pudding shots while unicorn ponies kiss your cheeks. OK, the ponies may be a stretch, but not much of one, check it out and see!

Tonight they added a soft shell crab to the menu that my guest pretty much licked the plate… Read more »
I just ate the best meal I have had in a very long time.
My fiance and I had a reservation, and though we arrived about 10 minutes early, we were seated promptly. Our waitress recited the many specials, took our drink orders, and started us off with a basket of delicious breads and a crock of yummy marinated peppers. We both decided to order from the specials list.
My date ordered the filet mignon and crabcake surf and turf. He has ordered this before, but it was served differently this time. The crabcake was finished with a sweet corn sauce, which pretty much tasted like the best corn chowder you have ever tasted. The filet was cooked perfectly as requested, and was served with a side of demi glace.
I was feeling indulgent and ordered the veal and lobster francese. The whole thing was perfectly seasoned, tender (I was able to cut it with a butter knife) and topped with a handful of jumbo lumps of crab. A slight digression: my dad is from Maine, and I have eaten lobster pretty regularly my whole life. My dad does an expert job steaming the live lobsters, but I have never understood why so many restaurants chose to serve the tough tail meat when the claw meat is so much better. Tonight at Giumarello's, I learned why. I don't know what they did to it, but this lobster tail melted in my mouth. In fact, just thinking about it makes me want to dig into my leftovers!
When the dessert tray came around, we were both full but unable to pass. We ordered the caramel creme brulee, figuring we'd each take a couple spoonfulls and be done with it. But when we cracked into that burned sugar only to discover that the custard was warm and flecked with vanilla beans... well... let's just say the only thing left in the dish was the strawberry garnish.
This is one of the best restaurants/bars in South Jersey. The food is always amazing as are the special martinis. I strongly recommend any of the raw bar items, The Sam's Cut Filet, and the Eggplant Florentine. Drinkwise, you can never go wrong with their espresso martinis.
I generally sit at the bar, even when I get food, so I can really only speak to the bar service, which is always great. Heidi, Jerry and Michelle are always great.
UPDATE: I just tried the soft shell crab special the other day, and IT WAS AMAZING!! If you ever see it on the menu, get it! A lightly battered, perfectly fried, big meaty soft shell crab served over fresh Florida corn. YUM!
In my opinion, this is by far the best restaurant on Haddon Ave. The martini list is a mile long, the newly renovated bar is really classy, service is always wonderful and the food is consistently fantastic.
I've probably gotten crab cakes 90% of the time I have eaten here, and they are always fresh and made with big chunks of crab meat. Portion sizes are on the very large side. You will never leave here hungry, and if you do, I would suggest a Lap-Band. Seriously.
All desserts are homemade and brought around on a large tray so you have to physically look at them before you decide. It kind of breaks my heart a little on the days that I pass and just have a coffee instead, because my head is screaming "GIVE ME THOSE THREE ON THE UPPER RIGHT!!!!!!!" However, if I'm here for a special occasion, I'm always down for splitting something sweet!
In My opinion, the absolute best Italian food in South Jersey. Was a fan at the former location on Station Ave. In Haddon Heights, Now (Anthony's). Great food. Stay a while. Calamari is cooked to perfection. Never Rushed! Service is Excellent! Try the Pesci Del Giorno. Fish of the day Cooked the way you like with toppings of your choice. I prefer the shitake mushrooms with clams & olive oil, crab meat & scallops.
Scrumptious Food! Awesome Owners, Waiters, Waitresses! Perfect Atmosphere - fun & lively every time! I have been here a hundred and one times....every single time it was to die for....love, love, love this restaurant - absolutely THE BEST in South Jersey.
we ate dinner here last night. i had never been here before and my fiance has been talking about it probably for the past year or so. we sat outside on the patio since it was a gorgeous day. the starter breads were very good. one of the breads was a toasted cheese something or other, and the other was a simple sesame bread that came with sweet butter. we got the spicy calamari to start. it was beautifully fried (not too heavy on the batter and not overcooked as is often the case with calamari). the flavor seemed almost asian, because of the spicy red pepper, green onion, and lemon. i had to stop myself from eating it. we each got salads with our meal - my fiance got caesar and i got the house salad. even the house balsamic dressing was really tasty. for our entrees, my fiance had the veal rosa and i got the seafood cannelloni. anything in a rose sauce is delicious, but these meals were phenomenal. we didn't have room to even look at the dessert menu. i'm sure there was creme brulee on there... my weakness.
i'd definitely go back here.
my only reservation is the complimentary valet parking. it's weird. there is a large parking lot next to and behind the restaurant. there really is no need for valet parking. it's not like it's in the city where you have to hunt down parking and potentially walk for a few blocks. complimentary services like this make me uncomfortable. it basically forces you to shell out tip money for something you didn't ask for.
The best restaurant I have ever been to ! You will enjoy everything from your martini to your dessert.
best italian restaurant in new jersey - hands down!
