4 reviews for Giuliano Gourmet Pizza & Deli
What I like about Giulianos. Good pizza. Plentiful toppings. Nice lunch counter. [Chipotle Chicken - where's my Chipotle chicken!?!??] Good breakfast selection.
What I don't like about Giulianos: If you order the same breakfast selection everyday for a week, your gonna pay a different price each and everyday. Strange thing is the price is always MORE than you know it cost cause you've been coming here so long.
The ominously and ironically named Giuliano Gourmet has clenched the title for "Worst Meal in the Financial District".
This is akin to clinching the title "Worst Republican Candidate for President." The competition is dizzying-- there are so many incredibly bad choices.
But in the end, after years of watching him make one petty, bad decision after another, it is obvious who the worst candidate is.
And the name of that candidate is Giuliano Gourmet.
The inside of Giuliano's is dark, creepy, and hopelessly stuck in a depressing past. As for the actual food, I ordered a simple pasta dish and they gave me mashed up noodles in 2 inches of garlic soup. Oh yeah, and there were too many nuts. Way too many nuts.
Remember that, GOP primary voters.
Seriously, don't eat the food here. It's really bad.
Sincerely,
Quinn the brutal metaphor-beater
Giuliano's is that its more than just a pizza joint, which in a land of competing lunch joints can be a double edged sword. On one hand, its a place that features unmatched variety with food ranging from burritos to salads to pastas to pizzas. On the other the place is swarming with tourists and suits, all waiting for bland food at so-so prices that could be had for much less at neighboring places.
Because of the rushed lunch crowd, most of the service is pushy and borderline rude at times. Like most deli's downtown (or just in New York) knowing what to order before ordering will probably be the most efficient approach.
There is no seating on the lower level and the layout of the place is too narrow for folks to navigate the place without bumping into others. Take the food and run but if seating is a must, then go upstairs.
WHAT IS WITH THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS?? I absolutely LOVE guilianos pizza...I cannot get enough of it...I dab a bit of the grease off of the top because I can't handle that much grease, but otherwise, it is phenomenal. I absolutely love how the crust has the perfect amount of crispiness to it and the cheese is phenomenal. Although I can agree that the place is very cramped and the upstairs seating stinks, it is worth it to me to brave the rude folks and tourists for a slice or 2 of their heavenly pizza. I also love the garlic knots...by far some of the best pizza in NY.
