This is the best little hole-in-the wall deli ever! Great selection of cheeses and bread, drinks, chips and old school candy. DO NOT pass on the guigni juice! The back room looks like Grandma's church basement and there is no restroom.... all worth it!

Pretty good place to pickup a quality sandwich during a winery tasting trip. Pick up food, chips, and head to a winery with a good scenery. I am not as crazy about this place as others - opting to go with Dean & Deluca or Oakville Grocery before going to Giugni. One reason is because D&D and Oakville has their own parking, so pick-up-and-go is easier. Giugni is located within downtown St Helena, so you may struggle to find parking.
Sandwich was good, but not so special. By the way, the store doesn't look as upscale as D&D, but meat quality was as good, although I didn't care for their bread.

One of the best kept secrets of Napa Valley. With the various meats, cheeses, & breads, your sandwich combos are endless.
When entering the store, first tell the meat person what meat/cheese you want. Then another person will call out your selection and you proceed to tell them what type of bread & what veggies you want in your sandwich. Their default selection are lettuce, tomatoes, sprouts, onions. For additional toppings that will cost more, you can ask for avocados, cucumbers, cranberries, and more. You can also ask for different types of mustard, horseradish, & hot sauce.
As for seating, there's 2 tables in the front of the store, and a backroom with tables in the back corner of the store.
This place is CASH ONLY, no credit cards.
I've been eating at this deli for over 5 years and I still haven't tried all the meats & cheese they offer, granted I usually order the same stuff over & over ;) Try to come earlier than later as they tend to run out of certain breads.
Some of my favorites are:
Cajun Turkey w/ Pepper Jack
BBQ beef w/ provolone
Tri-tip w/ smoked swiss
Wine cured salami w/ fresh mozzarella
as others have already said, get THE JUICE & enjoy!
p.s. if you don't like cheese, you can get 2 meats for the same price as a meat & cheese!
p.p.s. for parking, you can park in the street, the back of the store, or at the nearby supermarket (Sunshine).
This place is the St Helena secret, sortof hole in the wall looking deli. And I second the statement that when you are asked if you'd like Guigni juice, answer YES without thinking twice. You will see why. I have eaten here probably 100 times. (yikes!) It's the kind of place you crave.

This is my favorite sandwich shop ever.
It's quick, easy... And one of the cheaper places in the Napa Valley.
Seating inside is nothing special. The best thing to do is grab a sammich and take it to one of the parks and make a picnic of it.
If you've got a little girly appetite, maybe share the sandwich with a friend.
And when they ask you if you want Giugni Juice? The correct answer is, "YES, PLEASE!"
Great meat, cheese, bread. So delish. They also have a great selection of not your regular run-of-the-mill sodas, chips, candy.
It's a must visit if you're in the Napa Valley.

When I attended Pacific Union College in nearby Angwin, this deli was the place everyone went to. The deli is referred to just as Guigni's (Joo-nees) and their sandwiches are still the best I've come across. They have a great selection of meats, cheeses, and breads, as well as fresh veggies. And whatever sandwich you order be sure to get the Guigni Juice, it's fantastic.
The only downside to Guigni's is that the only seating available inside is dark and cramped, so you best option is to pick up your sandwich and a beverage and head to one of the nearby parks. Crane Park and Lyman park were our favorites.

I used to live in the Napa Valley and this has got to be THE spot I always visit whenever I go back. There are other more well known restaurants like Mustards, French Laundry, Brix, Don Giovanni's, and Rutherford Grill, I make it a point to go back to Giugni's.
They used to do the best sandwiches I have ever tasted. First off the place is an old grocery store that has been converted into a Deli. Their deli case holds at least 30 different types of meats and an equal amount of cheeses. You make your selection and someone cuts them on the slicer to order. The package is then passed along the line to the assemblers that ask you what kind of bread you want. You have a choice of like Sweet Rolls, Onion Rolls, Poppy Rolls, and my personal fav is the Dutch Crunch.
Anyhow, my staple is the Dutch Crunch, corned beef, pepper jack, honey mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions, and avocado. On top of all of this, they have something called Giugni Juice. It's basically oil and vin with herbs. Sooooo Goood!
I've heard that this place has fallen off a bit from the old glory days when I was there, but the last time I went down there 2 years ago, it was still awesome. If you're ever in St. Helena or even Napa, make sure you make a stop there. You will not regret it!
