I really, really wanted to love Gisella, as I patronized this spot quite a bit under its previous name.
Some elements of my meal here were excellent, others could really use improvement. I began my meal with a house made pasta sauced with a delicate and extraordinary pesto. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the portion was right on point for a starter.
The down side to my meal was my entree...why does this keep happening to me? After spending at least twenty minutes before ordering (it was a long wait), I had my heart set on a specific entree, only to be told that it had long been removed from the menu. Perhaps, it should LITERALLY be removed from the menu, particularly if the servers don't have the skill to inform diners about the change when they read the specials! My waiter talked me into the fish special of the evening, and it was underwhelming at best. It was the butt end of a sea bass, the flesh was brown and musty in flavor. If I were a chef, I never would have sent that filet into the dining room. It was not appropriate. In addition, the sides of squash were lacking in imagination and flavor. I ended up wishing I had just stuck with the pasta.
