7 reviews for Girardi's Osteria
We love Girardi's. Plain and simple. Could it be the savory food? Of course. Could it be the fabulous, and reasonably priced, wine list? Absolutely. Could it also be the caring, detailed, fun and personable staff? Heck yeah... (Kari, we love you!) The atmosphere? Oh baby yeah... we especially love just enjoying a bottle of wine close to closing time in the waiting area. It's a waiting area, but it's so intimate, it's great to just wait for nothing while enjoying a bottle of Uberto Cesare Sangiovese. We DO wish that Patrick still owed this charming little gem in downtown Edmonds, but so far, little has changed by the change in ownership to his brother.
Quick story... I took my girlfriend there to propose since it was a regular place for us to eat while 'dating'. I called Kari (the best waitress in the world, bar none) and made some special requests. She completed my requests perfectly and well beyond what I had hoped for. The evening was perfect. But, that's why I took her there... the evening is always perfect at Girardi's.
a sprinkling of chopped fresh green onions on my bolognese?!? The dish was a travesty. Not only was the garnish all wrong, it had way too much meat, and they claimed rigatoni on the menu but used penne. tsk, tsk, tsk. the green onions also made an inexplicable appearance on my sister's Puttanesca. I only got a quarter of the way into my meal before I had to put my fork (and my foot) down. I diplomatically asked for a box, then threw my sad leftovers away when I got home.
shoot, should've composted them.
Only been here twice. Both times the food was nothing special. It's a very cute place and I wish the food tasted better. Maybe I'll give it another go. People always look like they are having a good time when we walk by, but I have a feeling that's more to do with the drinks than the food. But the pasta at Portofino beats this place hands down, so I'll walk the extra mile to go there.
I am biased towards Girardi's as I know the owner and am friends with a few of the wonderful staff.
Admittedly, when I go there I get impeccable and prompt service because I get the best staff the place has to offer helping me enjoy me dining experience. I have seen a few bad apples, but seeing how Edmonds probably isn't going to attract world-class servers you have to take the good with the bad, eh?
That being said...The ambiance is quaint and pretty, a great place for a date or a nice dinner with your family or friends. The owner Patrick can usually be spotted there at any time, very available to his guests.
As for the food and drinks... Holy cow. The portions are more than acceptable, the flavor combinations remarkable...I have a hard time understanding how previous reviewers could compare the quality to Sysco-type food. The brushcetta was impressive, butternut squash ravioli was amazing, the drinks were top-notch.
My friends and I consider this a destination restaurant, but If you're in the Edmonds area, I say you stop by and check it out for yourself.
Since my first review I have been back a number of times. The food is much better then the first time I came and the service has improved as well. It can still be a little hit and miss but if you come on any week day it's always excellent. The best thing about this place is the drinks. They are ALWAYS amazing. Top shelf liquor and they are not squeamish about using a full pour.

It looks fancy on the out side and they really try to keep that going on the inside. The decor is… Read more »
Came over on the ferry for dinner one evening based on a recommendation.
The decor was quaint, much like everything in the town. No complaints here.
The service was very off. With four of us, the server couldnt manage to get all four dishes to the table within five minutes of each other. By the time he actually got around to setting down my wifes pasta, my veal was cold.
The food was OK. The ingredients were clearly "sysco" in quality. The desserts were terrible. Frozen, pre-prepared, and drowning in Hershey's chocolate syrup.
I really like this place. They have a great happy hour and a charming little outside deck. The times I have been there the staff has been very attentive and fun. The food is good, in fact the last pasta dish I had was amazing. The drinks are good too. Im a huge pizza fan- dont get it here, they dont make a good one. But as far as everything else goes I dont think it will let you down. They have a cozy fireplace to sit by in the winter.
