I've been cursed with what some have called, "fun" hair. Truth is, any ounce of humidity causes my lovely lady locks to frizz and fro.

So, I've been reading about this treatment for a few years now (Keratin Hair Therapy) and searching for a nearby salon to teach my hair a lesson.

I figured Giovanni & Pileggi would be a little out of my league, since I thought it mainly catered to Main Line wives, but the ladies at the front desk were full of smiles and never left me feeling out of place. Going to a new salon and being in the hands of a new stylist can be a bit nerve-wracking, but I lucked out and got Giovanni to work his magic. He gave me a thorough explanation of what the process entailed and even gave me follow up tips on how to maintain my new frizz-free hair.

G's assistant, Alfonso, helped ease me into the treatment too. He gave me two washes and acted as a human hair clip (holding unwanted sections of hair until G requested them).

What I read would be a 3 hour process only took 45 minutes! I waited 3 days to wash my hair, and after, my hair was fully transformed. I haven't even had to comb or dry it in order for it to fall the way I want.

The only sad part though is that my hair will return to looking like Jersey Shore boardwalk hair a la 80s in 3 months. In the meanwhile, I'll use my hot hair to find myself a benefactor willing to foot the bill the next go around.

Chris and Giovanni & Pileggi is great.  I've been going to him for over 2 years now, and he has given me consistent good haircuts at a decent price of $60 for the cut and a nice blow-out.  He even gives me the infamous "stipper hair" when I want more volume, and doesn't charge me more though it takes him longer to do that.  The salon is newly located on 16th between Locust and Spruce, and it's a very cool renovated row-home-turned-salon.  Some of the front desk staff is slow/inattentive at times, but really, just go there and ask for Chris (especially if you want a good blow-out).

I been coming to  G&P for several years, and they still have yet to get a decent assistant you can properly wash out color, perm.  On any given day Franc has an attitude.

Sorry this one is getting only 2 stars.

I hate getting my hair cut, because no one can seem to do it right.  So I was referred here...and as a gift my fiance paid the 140 dollars they told him was needed to cut my hair.  NO COLOR just a cut.
So I go in...I'm terrified...I have a ton of pictures of the cut that I want...Carmen Electra like...so pictures of the front of the head and the back.
I came out with a long bob...no layers no frame in the front around my face.  Really it was just an awful hair cut.  Straight across the back and it took this girl an hour to do it.  I hated it.
I asked to talk to a manager...no manager was there, I called the next day....still no manager?  Then three days later....still no manager?  So I went in...and they didn't even give me a refund...didn't offer to fix it...just said I'm so sorry here's a 30dollar gift certificate.  Crap shop.  It's too expensive for them to mess up, yet they do.

It's difficult to find a great color and cut in Philly. I've found it here. I only go here when I am in town visiting my parents, so I can't vouch for specific stylists. However, I've had services done by a handful of stylists at G&P and the results were always decent to good. Their staff of skilled stylists ensure you will never get a bad haircut.

Caveat:  I wouldn't recommend this place if you want to get services done on a Saturday. They are normally overbooked and the atmosphere feels rushed. The stylist will cut your hair, but an assistant will both color it and blow it dry.  If you go during the week, you will get the individual attention you are already paying for.
