BEST PIZZA EVER!
I don't know how or why and I don't care.
I used to go to Marymount Manhattan College around the corner and would only order cheese pizza (college student). I won't order anything else! I dream of this pizza.
I take all my friends and family there when they visit.
They used to have a location in Union Square and now they don't and I'm sad for the lower half of Manahattan!

Me and my girlfriend, being in New York together for the first time, decided to step into this cozy little restaurant. The service was rather blunt and straight forward but for some odd reason, we found it fitting. Being that it's New York, we liked the service being a bit rushed.
The pizza was good, since it was sitting under the heater. But the guy would get our slices and throw it into the stone oven behind him. The Santa Monica was NOT my thing, even though people recommend it. My girlfriend didn't fancy it either. I stuck with the spinach pizza which had "to die for" cloves of garlic layered on top of the pizza.
I'd recommend to go if you're in the area but not much of a place to go out of the way for.
Bon Apetit!
Sunday afternoon on the UES
....wasn't craving brunch
....didn't want to deal with Sunday brunch crowds
....logged onto Yelp Mobile and found Giorgio's
... all the 5***** reviews [Victoria H., Steven V., etc.] piqued my curiousity - is Giorgio's really all that?
.....walked into the cute tiny pizza shop -- brick oven in center view (to the purists, it's a gas brick oven, not coal)
....on display were several freshly made pies: Santa Monica, Mushroom, Grilled Vegetable, pepperoni and a white pie
. Tried the Mushroom slice ($3).......OMG! That is GOOD!
. Thought it was a fluke, so I tried the Santa Monica ($3.65)...............AMAZING!
. While waiting for the Santa Monica slice, I realized that the pie below contained grilled eggplant (I originally mistook it for sausage)...it was in fact the grilled vegetable pie ($3.65/slice).........after a minute in the brick oven, it came out perfectly warm (not scalding hot)........MOLTO DELICIOSO!!
What is it about Giorgio's Brick Oven Pizza? It's not from a "coal" brick oven, it's not D.O.C, etc....but after 3 slices on this first visit I could surmise that they know how to make pizza taste right:
- Thin crust - even brown bottom layer of crust.
- Crust edges have a crisp exterior but a doughy softness in the middle.
- Sweet tomato sauce is sparingly dollaped on top of the mozzerella cheese (against the grain from the typical way of making pizza, but it works!).
So after 3 slices, I trekked back downtown to walk off the meal.....four words kept going through my mind, "Giorgio's IS ALL THAT!"
Can't wait to go back!

This is damn good: "mozzarella, tomato sauce, pesto sauce, sundried tomato, goat cheese". They call it the Santa Monica.
I have been here three times. I believe they have added crack to this pizza cause I can't not have it. I gotta have it.
It is damn good.

I think this may be the best pizza I've ever had.
Seriously.
Ok - top 5, anyway.
I'll be making the trek to the UES to have this again. And again.

If I lived closer to this place i imagine I'd be having pizza every day. The crust is so thin and crispy and delicious. soooo good! The sauce goes on top of the cheese in dollops. That gives the pizza more sauce! and more sauce taste therefore. Which is awesome in my book. I've never had a pizza with enough sauce til i had this one. god, this stuff is good. and the spinach on my pizza was FRESH! not the frozen kind. fresh makes all the difference. mmmmmm

Oh sweet Giorgio's, how I wish you were on the Westside.
This is my favorite thin crust California-style pizza place. I've never had a pizza here that I didn't like. Crisp crusts, not too much tomato sauce, interesting toppings, and quality ingredients. The pizzas are so good, no trip to the Eastside is complete with out consuming one.

The pizza is amazing. I think I order one at least twice a week. It's a thin crust and they bake the cheese directly on the crust with spatterings of sauce on top. Each bite offers the perfect taste!
