I love this salon - oh wait, it's technically called a spa. I don't do all the spa stuff but Heather gives the greatest haircuts and blow dries. I've been to her three times now and she's fabulous. I have very thick hair which takes a long time to dry but she had me in and out in 35 minutes flat! Unbelievable! She's a real pro.
Service is fantastic and the atmophere is upbeat and lively. But don't everyone rush to make an appointment with Heather or I'll never get in.
Maria is an amazing colorist, I recommend her to anyone. I always leave loving my color and the product recommendations she gives.
I started going to Gina Agosta in high school (late 90's) and loved it, but the prices were a little steep for my minimum wage wallet. Now that i have a full time job it's more my style, but I have to say that lately it's been hit or miss. About a year ago I went to a stylist on a friend's recommendation and loved it. I've been going to her since, but each time I go I seem less and less happy with the end results. For $50 I want to feel like a rock star everytime I get out of the chair.
On a whim, I tried a new salon in Northville last time and was much more pleased with the result. Not sure if I'll go back to Gina Agosta yet.
Sometimes there's a too much pretentious attitude flying around in this place too. Maybe it's just not a good fit.
I would never normally go to Novi to get my hair done -- or, at all really -- because it's just too far to drive when I live in the center of everything already (Royal Oak, Ferndale, Birmingham, Detroit all within five miles).
But! While reviewing a club in Novi for the News, I met Sara Jayne, who has got to be the best colorist in the metro area. She offered to do my color for free because I put her in the paper and mentioned the salon, but that's not why she's so awesome (I mean, bad highlights are bad highlights, even if they were free).
Sara Jayne has done my highlights twice now, and both times were seriously hot. The first time it was blond pieces with some strawberry blond thrown in for fun. And last time, she kicked the blond up a notch and it still looked super natural. Without a doubt, I have never had people compliment my hair as much as when she did it. Even my high school best friend's new wife, who is a rich Cuban chick from Miami whose entire family is hip and fashionable, grabbed my hands at a wedding and screamed, "Your hair is GORGEOUS!!"
I also had my hair cut, by the lovely Julie, and she did it perfectly. Cute and chic without being some sort of puzzle that needs a volumizer, a cream, a spray and a flat iron to put together.
I feel bad for straying from Barberella in Hamtramck (I still love you, Sandy!) and all the amazing salons that are a five iron from me, but Sara Jayne is so good, I will actually drive to Novi. And I hate Novi.
I won't trust anyone else with my hair. Gina Agosta does it all with salon and spa services, at prices that beat everyone else in the Novi/Northville/Plymouth area. They are always busy, which speaks volumes in this economy. Somehow, I can still always get an appointment within a week of my phone call. Style, color, a full range of spa services, I can have all of my services done on the same day and I always leave happy and well taken care of. I have recruited many friends and family members to visit Gina Agosta and none have looked back.
