I have been coming to Gilligans for many years. I saw it transform from a tiny little restaurant attached to the fish market to the two locations they now have. Throughout all the years, one thing has remained consistent, excellent seafood!

There is really nothing on the menu that is not good or great. Even the pasta dishes and BBQ are excellent. The seafood cannot be beat anywhere in Rockland and you won't find prices like this unless you are sitting at a lobster pound or dockside restaurant somewhere in Maine.

Dinner for three, that includes lobster with drinks is still under $60. It is a little noisy and you need to be prepared to wait (no reservations taken) but it is worth it! Relax, have a beer and think about the great seafood you are about to eat :-)

We found this place on Yelp. It's really worth to go here. We were driving and want to find a place to eat. Place is very crowded.
Food: excellent, large portions, very fresh. I had lobster over linguini. I couldn't finish my meal, had to take home.
Price: very reasonable price, you get your money worth here.
Place: you just feel like you are on a beach. They did a great job on decorating the place. good for everyone.
Vibe: play good music, big place, there was a bar there, drinks were really good. We had bloody mary. They were awesome! We would go back to this place again.

This place is wonderful.  It's one of the few places I don't mind drinking beer with seafood.  The lobster/linguini is heaven.  Also, they run a pizza oven in the back.  Holy crap, $8 pies!  This isn't crappy pizza either.  It happens to be the finest pizza I've yet to taste in Rockland.  I'm born & raised in the city, trust me on that.  Go Gilliagan's!

I make my way there atleast once a month! It is awesome, very fresh seafood amazing portions and very reasonable, unlike Red Lobster! The one by the water though, isnt as good. I think it may be different cooks or something but it is totally different meals. I prefer to go to the one in Pomona so much more, only thing is always busy so be expecting to wait a little while!

Met a client here for lunch. I had the shrimp wrap with lime and chipotle mayo. And fries. It was very nice. Was surprised as from the outside it seems nothing special and the local area seems less than upscale. The only draw back was that my client had a very long white hair in his burger which was kind of gross. The chef should probably wear a hair net or something.

If you ever in Rockland County and hungry this is the place to go..  Great seafood, have to try the oysters, clams and mussels in a bucket.

Not too pricey ... Affordable. ...

But not a quiet place to have a meal, but great for family or with all your friends..

This place is AWESOME! I was over in Rockland County visiting family this past June, and they took me to this place in Pomona, and it was the PERFECT place for a fun and delicious dining experience. Only come here if everyone is into eating seafood, especially lobster and crab. Let me tell you, this place has the HUGEST portions I HAVE EVER SEEN. I could NOT stop talking about it all night, even AS we were eating! We got the Lobster Feast and Crab Feast as well as a family platter starter of Calamari, and even just ONE plate of Lobster Feast would've served us all. There was so much food, I thought this must be a sin! How does this restaurant do this? How COULD they do this??!! : )
I am definitely a serious fan, and if you are in Westchester or Rockland area, you MUST come here for a by-far memorable dining experience for any party, but does the best in parties of, at the very least, 4.
And just when you think it's over, don't try the brownie/ice-cream dessert... unless you REALLY want to be living in sin!

And on top of the food, our server Jaimie was great - extremely courteous, professional, and on-top-of-it. We had some questions about lobster, and she even brought out one of the cooks to help us with our curiosity.

    Thank you Gillians of Pomona!!!

I love this place for their inexpensive and fresh seafood! If I wasn't such a health nut I would drown myself in their buffalo calamari daily. Luckily, I don't live near there to actually attempt it because I probably would. For around $15 bucks you can get a meal with your choice of grouper, flounder or salmon with your choice of steamed veggies, rice or pasta with a salad and bread! The portions are more than decent too! Also if you want a bottle of wine with your meal there is no huge mark up on the prices. The bottles are so reasonably priced.

The food was amazing but our service was not so good.  The waitress took a long time refilling/getting our drinks. We had no drinks on the table when dinner came!  However, I still recommend it because the food was great.  Be prepared to eat alot because they serve generous portions.

I've been coming to Giligans since it the fish market took over the convenience store.

Fresh Fish, Great prices, the decor is tiki hut eclectic. The staff is super friendly and accomodating, (I order the clam bake lobster combo and have them switch out the mussles and clams for steamer clams when available)...

    The Menu is extensive.

Had this restaurant highly recommeded by both Yelp and friends who've been eating here for years. Let me preface this by saying that I have a family member who's been in food their whole life, and knows a thing or 2.

First: I ordered the fish and chips. They were in fact nice fresh cod pieces. However, there were at least 3 pin bones in fish. Having pin bones remain in a fish after prep is inexcusable for any restaurant to be serving.

Second: My uncle and father both ordered swordfish. Normally swordfish comes in a nice filet, and looks like a steak. Their meat was in segmented pieces, and looked like garbage scraps of the meat, rather than a good meal.

Third: The service is painfully slow, forgetful, and oftentimes rude. Our waitress practically threw the check on the table by nights end. Now, granted, we were a difficult group with all of our issues, but she needed to act more professionally.

Fourth: We were located near the kitchen, and were able to see in at times when the door was swung open. The kitchen at this establishment is FILTHY. There was food all over the floor. Lord only knows what other issues are lurking further inside.

I was happy that the manager understood our issues and took both my meal, and a percentage of the check off, but overall the meal was dissapointing.

People, if you want good seafood, you get what you pay for. Go someplace else. I will never eat at Gilligan's again.

My family loves this place.  Been going to it intermittently since it was a hole in the wall. Now it's the place to be.

Went again recently and was reminded why we love it so much.

Got the sampler platter of appetizers, plus an extra serving of baked clams.  I love baked clams, especially oreganto, as my other reviews will show, and these were good, but nothing spectacular.  The crab-stuffed mushrooms, however, are absolutely fantastic.  The other appetizers are all good, but I think I want one of those mushrooms in my last meal.

i've never actually eaten a whole lobster before, so I got one. It comes on top of a giant pile of mussels (with a few clams thrown in).  You can get over pasta, which I did, but it's actually unnecessary. The number of mussels ensures you won't leave hungry. Of course, the leftover mussels and pasta made for a great lunch the next day.

It's very hard to eat a lobster when you never have before and no one at your table can tell you how.  I muddled my way through it, and it was quite tasty. I have to say, I think I prefer crab to lobster.  It's definitely good, just a little less flavorful.  Based on my other food experiences at Gilligan's, I prefer to blame the crustacean, not the establishment, but I'll certainly try again at another restaurant.  Just don't walk away from this review thinking 'the lobster is bland at Gilligan's', as I'm not the one for you to trust on that.

What else... excessively curbed parking lot, acceptable wait service, gaudy plastic parrots on the walls.  Fantastic seafood. And unbelievable crab-stuffed mushrooms.

Overall I really like this place.  I'm never one to complain about service and I would never pull out the "I'm in the business" card, but at times I've had to ask for silverware and napkins after the dinners were served. Or had to sit for 10 minutes before anyone even brought menus over to us. But for the most part service has gotten much better over the years.

The food has always been very good and you can't beat the prices.  They'll charge $15 for the same tuna that everyone else in rockland county would be charging $25 or more.

Fun, casual place with good food, good prices and friendly service.  What more could you ask for .

Best seafood in Rockland County by far.  And b/c its attached to C&M Seafood there is no middleman for the restaurant to get their fresh fish from so therefore the markup on the food is minimal.  What does this mean to you?  Fresh seafood at an affordable price.

I've had multiple meals here all of which were quite tasty.  The lobster for 2 is especially good, but bring a date who doesn't mind getting her hands dirty! haha.  And don't forget the oysters.

They also take to go orders, have a full bar, and have seasonal specials.

STONY POINT Gillian's.  Beautifully redone restaurant in a beautiful setting.  Food is good, although a different menu from the Pomona location.  Service, though is poor, and the noise level can be measured in large decibels - you have to literally scream at your dinner companions to be heard.  We were there on a Thursday night & although one waitress, not assigned to our table, came over to get our drinks, it was extremely difficult to get our waitress' attention to order, and quite a while to get the food.

I really don't know what's not to like about this place.
    A- The food is GOOD.
    B- The portions are LARGE.
C- The prices are very, very reasonable.
D- The waitstaff is really courteous.
I guess the only negative is that my number never comes out during the lottery pick... if you've never been to Gilligan's before, you'll have to go for yourself to see what I mean...

Went to this place recently. Food was pretty good. Fish was fresh and cooked nicely, shrimp appetizer was also good. It's also nice that a salad comes with your meal and they also give you a choice of sides.

Service was abysmal however. Slow and inefficient. One of those places where the staff is more concerned with talking amongst themselves than with serving customers, at least this time.

Would give this place 4 stars if not for the poor service. Will have to go back again to see if it's normal or was just a one time thing.

I have written about C&M already, the supplier Gilligan's fish and such.  But the restaurant is separate.  I love their selections of fresh fish at really reasonable prices.  I had the lobster meal which was a bit messy but worth the work; I recommend the bib. Oysters as starters were fabulous.  Get here if you are in Rockland and love fish!  Easily accessible off the Palisades Parkway on  Route 202. Note on the weekends it gets packed.

Best seafood in Rockland, hands down.  The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable.  The place gets packed.  Go on a Friday night during Lent and you can bet you will be waiting quite a while.  They also do takeout which I have gotten on a number of occasions.  If you love seafood and you haven't tried this place and live in the area, you should go immediately!

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS REGARDING THE STONY POINT LOCATION, NOT POMONA. I don't think we've had a worse experience at a restaurant. We were aparty of eight, arrived at 745P and were told we'd be seated by 830P.  We retired to the bar and had drinks and appys. At 830P, we were told if would be just a little longer. They had a teenager trying to manage the wait. We asked for the manager finally a little before 9P.  He said it would a little longer. We settled at thge bar and were getting ready to leave, when at 910P they were ready to seat us. We stayed--our mistake. Another teenager took our orders, and the food stll had not arrived by 950P. I asked for the manger and described the chronology of the evening, and asked him if he was OK with that. No sorry, no offer to make it right, he just disappeared into the kitchen and came out 20 minutes later when our food started to arrive--one plate at a time. I kid you not. In the meantime this clod of a manager had a number of friends at an adjoining table a and their food came out when ours did! They were having a grand time, whooping it up. The food was average at best, but this was a new low in disregarding your guests. NONE of us will ever return to this recently opened hell-hole again. I would say it was poorly managed, but it wasn't managed AT ALL. Save your self the aggravation--AVOID THIS PLACE!

Went for lunch with the family during the week.  The dining area has a bit of a tropical feel.  In the main dining area, there were about 20 tables... 7 occupied by guests.  There are only 2 waitresses on staff.  So the service is incredibly slow.  Be prepared.  I ordered the standard fish and chips.  It was $7or 8.  Pretty good, but I have to say.  The slow service is really annoying.  Came here for dinner a few times.  Again, slow service.  Had the Lobster for 1.  Comes on top of a bowl of mussels and a few clams in the mix.  The lobster was small.  Not really worth the $30.

I've been here a total of 2 times. The last time I went (this past weekend) I wondered why I don't come here more. The food is very fresh, and the prices are VERY reasonable.

I had the blackened halibut, rice, and vegetables. The halibut was a bit dry in spots, but overall very flavorful. The vegetables were prepared in garlic and olive oil, as was the rice (I think). Everything was fantastic and the help was quite good too. I look forward to returning.

I've also tried their Cape Cod fried platter, and I remember that being delicious as well. They have so many options at great prices. Recommended!
