I've been wanting to stop by for a photo for a year and I finally got to go back yesterday!

It was so fun to climb up onto the chair but beware! The paint gets super hot in the summer and can burn exposed bums and legs.

Such an awesome photo-op location!  Was walking around getting familiar with the area and saw this giant chair out of the corner of my eye.  Not sure of the history, back story or reason for this chair's existence, but that doesn't matter to me, it's big and serves no purpose other then to entertain the wandering tourist or the drunk college student, the fun times and photos that this chair must have participated in!

P.S.  I had a heck of time getting on to this chair, and on a hot summer day, this chair gets scorching hot, came back with some friends and we had a hard time trying not to grimace from the pain of our burning backsides....

I pass this chair on the bus a lot and I think it is cool.  I didn't know you could sit on it  and sometimes it doesn't look in the best shape to be sat on.  It's been through various stages of vandalism, graffitti and repainting but hey it's a GREAT BIG CHAIR and you'd need repainted too if you had to sit outside all day.  Try to go see it at a time when Ellington School is not letting out because at that time a million loud kids swarm the area catching their buses and rides and generally being kids.  At other times the block is pretty quiet and you will have better photo ops.

I love the big green chair, which I heard was recently completely defaced with graffiti. I hope they have cleaned it up or are planning to do so. Since I used to live in Glover Park, I have hung out on the big green chair many, many times. It was just a short walk from my old apartment and I spent many lovely weekend afternoons up on that chair. You have a great view from up there. It's also good for spying on people and other sneaky business -- especially if you sort of duck down so no one really sees what you're doing.

Attention. Attention, please. Great photo opps notification! On the front lawn of the Ellington School in Georgetown is a GINORMOUS green Adirondack chair. Drive by in the warmer months and you will almost always see someone scaling the chair for a chance to have their picture taken. Worth a walk or drive over for just that reason.

What's all the fuss about this chair?  Half of the time it is broken or vandalized, looking like an eye sore.  No, I have never climbed the chair or posed with it for a picture, and I have no desire to.  I think we should dismantle the chair and put a Flagpole in its place.  If you want a place to perch and feel high on life, go climb a tree.
