We had an unusual request this year as we called Gianni's to make reservations for my Mom's Birthday. Gianni's is my Mom's favorite restaurant. Her favorite dish is the Gamberoni Gorgonzola! The plan-Mom's best friend is arriving from Pennsylvania and Mom has no idea. I am to meet Mom at the restaurant, get a table for 3, expecting 5, delay ordering, and have the staff help as her friend arrived and approached our table and surprised my Mom. Needless to say everything went as planned!! Cheers of excitement from our party didn't seem to bother other patrons and the staff was all smiles and excited for us. They had a table for 5 set up and waiting, Margarita's arrived right when her friend walked to the table, appetizers ready for the surprise guest. We then settled down, ordered our food...spaghetti and meatballs, chicken fettucine etc. Great food. The staff helped up get thru an awesome family Birthday. Thanks Gianni's for a memorable experience!!

This little mom-n-pop Italian place is one of a dying breed.... family owned , single location , 100% real . Places like this are getting swallowed up by the Olive Gardens and Macaroni Grills , and it's a shame , because they are SO MUCH BETTER ! Gianni's is the best Italian restaurant in the greater Everett area , food-wise...although the location is unremarkable.
Gianni's is a hidden gem , easily overlooked but simply a great find for those who venture in. My favorites include the Tortellini Carbonara (!) , Spaghetti Caprese, and the Manicotti. I've been eating there for many years, and have NEVER been disappointed with anything there. The service is efficient and unobtrusive , with the same very low-key feel that you will find in Italy . Nothing rushed, relax. Have some wine. Some dishes simply take time to prepare correctly , and since this is obviously not pre-cooked microwaved Olive Garden crap , it might take a few minutes. Have another glass of wine, and nibble on the delicious bread and tapenade .
I think if more people tried Gianni's , it would be packed out every night. But it isn't , so take advantage of this little "secret" sometime soon....you won't regret it ! -

This is one of the best restaurants in Everett. It has a very strange location on Evergreen. I wouldn't have thought that a good restaurant would be by the office max.
You start with olive tapenade and bread. I love Italian restaurants that give more than just bread and butter. I always order spaghetti caprese with basil and fresh mozzarella. Just discovered the best calzone I've ever had at a restaurant. Canolli are just as good as the ones I ate in Little Italy NYC. The prices seem reasonable to me, but you know...It's Everett.
So, if you find yourself in Everett and want to eat delicious italian and like me, you have shunned the Olive Garden, give Gianni's a go. -

Pros: Lasagna really tasty, Pepperoni pizza excellent, appetizers were really good. They have a coupon for their pizzas online, buy one get the second half off.
Cons: Mushroom pizza was just okay. Hours for saturday and monday are a little odd. -

The service was good, the meal was less Americanized than the Olive Garden (according to my date), with an unbreaded Chicken Parmesan. The fettuccini alfredo had an unusual cream sauce that was surprisingly good. The bread was not stale (as others reported), and the topenade was worth the trip. Definitely spendy for a complete meal and salad is not worth the extra price. Atmosphere is unassuming and relaxing.

The decor is alright. Somewhat dark, could be thought of as romantic if you like that sort of thing. Not shabby or what you might think it would be from the location.
The service, good but a little cold. No warmth from our server. We never saw the bottom of our water glasses.
The prices are moderate for Italian. Not too high but you're not going to walk away shocked at how little you spent.
The food!!! They start you off with bread and what seems to be an oil & olive paste? Yummy. I ordered the gnocchi pesto. Best gnocchi I have ever had. Turns out, they make it there. Simply the best. My husband ordered the chicken fettuccine. His only complaint, if you can call it one, is that it had too much chicken. At most places you wish for more but not there. My children shared a ravioli dish. They really didn't comment much about it.
The only thing I would change if I could, add a children's menu. -

I really don't know how I feel about this place, so therefore, 3 stars.
The location is odd--on 99 in Everett, right next to some skeezy looking Mexican place that I refer to as the Tequila Hut. The exterior of Gianni's is nothing to write home about: a run down looking building with a tacky Mona Lisa on the outside.
When you get inside, it looks like you're in something from Goodfellas. There are head shots of Italian-American actors, singers, etc. all over the walls along with the other ubiquitous Italian knick knacks that are in almost every Italian joint in the country.
The first impression of the food comes from a basket of sliced bread served with tapenade. The bread always seems a bit stale, but the tapenade is good, so the first impression is one of "expect the worst so you won't be disappointed." The menu includes the usual suspects--pasta dishes, pizzas, and entrees. Some of the food is really quite good--other dishes completely miss the mark. The pizza's decent enough, though, and it makes up for some of the other shortcomings on the menu.
The service at Gianni's is outstanding. Everyone makes you feel very much at home. It's a bright spark in an otherwise lackluster dining experience. -

I have been to Gianni's 4 times. I enjoy the tapenade and olive oil dip with bread they bring out. I always order the Prawns with Amaretto Cream Sauce--to die for! But...it doesn't come with pasta for lunch--you have to pay extra--weird. The minestrone soup is full of chunky veggies and tasty and the Gorgonzola salad dressing is one that I would buy--I think they sell it!
Sometimes service is slow and sometimes the wait staff is accomodating and other times not. But as long as they keep the Prawns Amaretto on the menu--I will be back.
It is a little on the pricey side $12-15 lunch; $20 for dinner -

Certainly a good Mom & Pop style Italian place. The dip they started with was quite tasty, though the bread could have used a little something extra as it was slightly dry. Apply the dip though and its definately a good start.
I had thier Pistachio Chicken and it was absolutely scrumptuous. They were quite accomodating for my little fellow as well though there was no kids menu that I noticed.
The tab was picked up by someone, so I can't comment on the price, but the food is definately something I wouldn't hesitate to go back for.
Good place if you're in the vicinity, but its not necessarily something you'd need to go incredibly out of your way for. -

This is the best italian restuarant I am aware of in the area. Its unfortunately located in Everett, but worth the drive. The menu choices are extensive, dinner comes with a delicious olive tapenade/oil and bread which I always end up stuffing myself with. Prices can be a little high, but food is delicious and very flavorful. Calzones are huge. Staff is friendly and accomodating. It is odd that salad traditionally comes after the meal, but they are happy to bring it to you before if you request it that way and it is nice that they stick with tradition. Meals are either ala carte or not, which can make for a more expensive evening out, I usually skip the salad as it doesn't appear to be anything special. I usaully opt for the spaghetti alla putanesca, but maybe its just because that means the prostitute way that I find it so appealing.

I agree with Lydia K. on most of the points - I had heard good things about this place, but it definitely is one of those places that doesn't leaving you feeling good or bad. Just like, okay, we had an edible italian meal that was okay. I would probably go back if other people wanted to go, but I wouldn't be craving it. I thought the service was a little slow, but there were only 2 servers and it was the lunch rush. The bread basket was disappointing to me, especially when there was tapenade to put on it. I liked their gorgonzola salad dressing and I had the tortellini rosso which was good but not stellar. Parking is good, my meal was under $10.

I think the other reviewers were pretty right on with this one. It is a bit on the old school/Goodfella's spectrum. Italian food is like sex, even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. That is not to say that this is bad, it's just not toe curling good either. However, I am a big fan of the tapenade they serve with the bread and the gorgonzola salad dressing. That's what really makes me come back multiple times.

Wow, shockingly bad service. We are very laid back and don't complain about much but this service was terrible; and there was only one other table in the entire restaurant. I guess the lack of people in the restaurant should have been a clue. The only time we saw our waiter was to take our order, quickly drop off our bottle of wine which I'm surprised he even took the time to open, and then to bring our food and then our check. Besides those times when he had to come out he just hid in the kitchen. We got up and refilled our own drinks during dinner. The food portions were small and over priced. You had to pay extra if you wanted pasta in your pasta dish? Weird? When we asked the waiter about the service he just shrugged his shoulders and said it was a long day and quickly turned and walked away; he couldn't have cared less. I eat out often and this was by far the worst service I have ever received. As you can see from my other reviews I don't complain much, but I would definitely recommend staying away from this place. Terrible. Terrible.

My family and I have been long, loyal patrons for over 15 years,,its cozy, warm and very Italian.
Love the bread, pastas and especially the veal dishes, not many restaurants do veal anymore.
I've tried other places however none match up to Gianni's, I suppose the nicest thing I can say is that I've never been disappointed.
I am a chef and having lived in both Italy and Brooklyn I can honestly say I've never had better.
Its all relative, good food is an art form and its all subjective, whats great for me might be just O.K. for others -

Keep driving past! This place should have closed years ago. It was a great place in the 90's - at the top of Italian food in Everett. Well that was along time ago. If you get good service, then your lucky and it must be your server's first day. Bread is old/stale/blah. Food takes forever. Not sure how food can take so long in an empty restaurant. Service usually stinks, especially if Gianni the owner is involved. Gianna is one of the biggest (fill in the blank) owners you will ever meet. He's rude, try's to be intimidating and will fire back nastily about his food even if the whole table knows it's bad. Its dark, dingy and outdated. Also take note how they are always hiring bc Gianni goes through so many employees. Sad to think what this once was. Its not savable - time to close up! Go to Casa Tequila next door, its fantastic. One reviewer called it a "skeezy looking Mexican place" - Best Mexican Place in Everett!

The place truly doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was excellent and the service really outstanding. I was, like others, underwhelmed by the bread, but the meals were absolutely the best! And a very affordable place to eat. We will definitely be going back there.
