The Spirits of Otis Redding,Duane Allman,Berry Oakley,Phil Walden and Ray Charles linger in the air.A Must Stop By when traveling thru Macon.
Visit The Gift Shoppe, and also Dine at The H&H Soul Food Restaurant.
Look at all the Gold and Platinum Albums and Framed LP Covers, plus all the Tour Posters that sport the interior. The ladies working in the gift shoppe are so friendly and extremely helpful, treat all their customers like family,I Love People Like That.
This is a fun place to visit if you are in or around Macon. It's set up as different store fronts with info on Georgia musicians over the years. My favorite display was the one on REM, the Allman Brothers and Lynard Skynard. A special exhibit on Otis Redding is there through September of 2008. Nice gift shop, too.
Like Jan M. from Ohio says, this place is great. I liked the REM stuff best too, but that's just because REM is one of my favorite bands. There are also exhibits--set up like little shops and stores in a small Georgia town--on Georgia jazz, country, gospel, and there's a cool exhibit about Otis Redding. My favorite items in there were the correspondences, like telegrams, and Hatch (and other) concert posters. The children's section of the museum is especially neat--lots of instruments and a sound booth. BTW Jan M., if you really loved Frank Lloyd Wright, you'd buy my condo in Chicago (see my Starbucks review); it wasn't designed by FLW, but it is only a few miles down State Street and east to Hyde Park and the Robie House. You'd love it here--forget Ohio!
If you love music and find yourself living or visiting Macon, then the Georgia Music Hall of Fame is a must see destination. The exhibits are cleverly set in a miniature town, called "Tune Town" complete with Gospel Church. You can learn about the exhibit details here: http://www.georgiamusi...
