This is pretty much the only bar I can say that I like. I don't drink so most bars and the bar atmosphere makes me uncomfortable. This is more like a pub than a bar. It's not loud or smokey or anything.

The food here is all vegetarian and most can be vegan. I haven't figured out if this is a plus or minus, but the food tastes so non vegan that every time I've been there I end up having to ask them if they're sure they made it vegan...

The geek angle is also totally awesome. They have some SNES consoles in the back and cartridges up in the front. They named some of the sandwiches with Star Trek themes...the Picard comes with a french dipping sauce..har har.

I may just be naive because I don't drink, but I asked for a glass (turned out to be more like a shot glass!!) of soy milk and I paid 2 dollars for it. Yikes!! And their desserts are pretty pricey unless you split them with a friend. Also, I don't have a car. It's kind of hard to get to. If this was in, say, Wallingford, I'd be here way more often.

Yeah, I have to agree...5 stars for the GLC. The atmosphere is the perfect kind of laid back. Video game consoles, brick walls, old comfy booths and chairs and awesome staffing.

Cheap and good appetizers pave the way for their signature sandwiches which are all hot and tasty piles of veggie goodness.

Ok... at the yelp G-Town event I got a lil violent... SLAPPED the cook that prepared the polenta. Ever since then I have been thinking about it.

I sat down inside this joint and felt comfortable immediately, got nervous when server didn't know for sure if my dish was available... Impatiently I waited for her to return, I was pouting with my head literally on the table. Then she returned and her answer burned the clouds away... YES!!!! My craving would be satisfied! My polenta arrived hot with an apple chutney and reduced balsamic. It was light and fluffy and simply delicious, BETTER than I remembered...

I am NOT a vegetarian, but I LOVE this place! The owner came by and asked if I was gonna slap his cook again, I replied no, I got what I needed...

I am going BACK! I really enjoyed myself and felt at home, welcoming staff, great food!

Not being a veggie I am not normally seeking sustanance of the animal free varriety but the creative menu items will appeal to everyone carnivor or not. If you're on the fence just tust me and go for the vegan enchalads. Ask for the soup of the day... I have yet to be dissapointed and grab any of the sammies they are all pretty good even if I have my favs. Don't expect a run of the mill salad just because they are meatless. You will have a lot to choose from and not walk away hungry only that you might have to change your perconceived notions about fare of the meatless varriety.

This is by far my new favorite bar in Seattle. Great punk rock vibe, super nice staff, utterly delicious vegan and veggie fare that will blow away the meat-hater and the omnivore alike.

My wife and I were turned on to GLC just this week.  We have already been there three times.  What more to say?.

PICARD. Please go here and order the Picard. Just do it. Holy shit.

The other things I've tried have also been delicious but the Picard is hands down the most amazing sandwich that I have had in 3 years. I shit you not.

Not a fan of the chef's salad or the high beer beer prices... but Wednesday night trivia is my new ritual. So much fun. Delicious food. So down.

The Darth Rueben wouldn't fool anyone looking for a real, meat-filled rueben, but then those people shouldn't be going to a vegan/vegetarian place looking for meat anyway.  (They might if they're drunk, in which case this sandwich might fool them.)  Regardless of that, the sandwich was a pretty tasty version of a Rueben; no complaints from me.

If you want good sandwiches and booze and you are in Georgetown, you will be satisfied here.

I've had a sandwich or two in my day, and I've got to say that Georgetown Liquor Company knows how to fill the space between two slices of bread. I have no special dining needs, so I could go get a meat-inclusive sandwich anywhere but I frequent GLC because its vegetarian and vegan sandwiches are just so darn tasty.

The innovative Frac sandwich adds layers of flavor to Field Roast with primrose Brie, apricot chutney, and arugula. The Tycho is a big ol' piece of portobello goodness with tangy vinagrette. GLC's ciabatta makes both sandwiches nice and hearty. Though it didn't blow me away, the Darth Reuben is a great veg alternative for those yearning for a little pastrami and sauerkraut. Not to be overlooked are the amazing vegan soups housemade by GLC...split pea is offered daily, but I have yet to order it because the soups du jour are so inviting: Vegan Broccoli "Cheese", Tomato-Artichoke Bisque, and Curried Eggplant Bisque have been a few of the tasty recent offerings. Really, the only food disappointment I've had at GLC was the Obi Won Ton Plate, which was only five little pieces for a relatively steep $8.50. Ol' Ben wouldn't be impressed.

GLC puts yummy pickled veggies (some combo of olives, pickled asparagus, pickled beans, and pepperoncini) in their Bloody Marys, and I consistently have friendly, speedy service when I stop by the bar for weeknight take-out. Though I don't tend to hang around, a bonus of GLC is the selection of vintage Atari & Nintendo games. What's not to love?!

For a veggie like me - this is really as good as it gets for comfort food in a comfy non-pretentious environment. The tacos are fabulous. The soups are always good  - we had a beer cheddar that was amazing. The sandwiches give any vegetarian a viable fix when in need of faux Reuben or bbq. The vegan chocolate mousse is also pretty nice and not something a vegan can usually order.

It's like favorite dive bar meets old school video arcade... with a good booze selection and the best casual vegetarian menu in Seattle.

What else can I say? Love this place.

What is wrong with me? I thought I'd written a review for the best GD vegan nachos I've ever had...

Apparently, I have not.

I wandered into Georgetown Liquor Company yesterday afternoon and tried the tacos. Two hard shell tacos, chock-full of vegan taco meat, lettuce, tomato, topped with vegan cheese = Good God. These bad boys won't have you wondering where the beef is... they'll make you happy you've gone gluten.

Btw, you get two for $6. Or 3 for $9...

Or "6 for $18?" I inquired as I finished my second. She laughed and said yes. "Good," I replied... "I'll bring my friends next time."

Great people, excellent food. Believe the hype; sh*t is good.

Stopped in mid-afternoon for a late lunch.  The Frac was delicious ... Mmmmmm!! So many layers of flavor and perfectly complemented by the most delicious split pea soup I have ever tasted!! Huge vote for the friendly staff and the ambiance ... the subdued lighting at the booths is beautiful, and perfect if you're hungry but not quite awake, ha ha.

My boyfriend and I went here for his birthday. We started off with the Hummus platter. When it arrived there were some slices of field roast on the plate. He looked at me and said:

Him: Are you sure that is safe?
Me: Yes, everything here is vegetarian.
Him: REALLY??

I giggled on the inside.

He had had the wonder that is field roast before, but to see it so much on a restaurant menu was new.
He got the Picard sandwich, which was field roast, Fresh mozz, onions, on ciabatta. Plus some potato leek soup. I ordered the portabello mushroom salad which was HUGE (and ended up being lunch the next day too). I loved the salad, but next time I would ask for dressing on the side as it was a little overdressed.
The hummus platter was wonderful too, and my boyfriend was so full he didn't even have room that night for the pie I made him.

It's great being able to go to a "safe" restaurant, where animal flesh isn't lurking somewhere in some corner or sauce. The vibe is also great, very typical of Georgetown. At first the prices seem a bit steep, but for the amount of food you get it is well worth it.

When you have a vegan and a vegetarian in town, you want to impress them with all that Seattle has to offer when it comes to good, cruelty-free  cuisine. Thank you YELP! for your recommendations to venture South to Georgetown. This hole in the wall inside an old brick building was dark and unassuming, not the type of place you would think to find a child's "first library" bookshelf (with books) and vintage arcade games. The food here was wonderful. Together we shared the vegan spinach artichoke dip with pita  triangles to start. The drinks are fresh and creative, just not at all what you would expect from a dingy dive bar. I sipped on a cranberry and orange muddled vodka cocktail, while trying to narrow down what to try off the menu. I settled on the vegan ham and split pea soup with crusty bread, my friend had the vegan french dip sandwich on ciabatta bread with vegan au jus dipping sauce. I mean is this for real??! Her sandwich was probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, even though I am not even vegetarian, and she claimed it was the best sandwich she's had since becoming vegan. I will be back to GLC soon. Thank you YELP Seattle!

About a month ago a friend of mine casually mentioned while driving by; "that is a great vegetarian restaurant." Immediately a picture of my recently shaved headed, woman rights activist, former Christian Missionary, non meat eating, friend Beth and future lunch plans were in the works.

Truth be told I felt a bit out of place in my colorful stripy Tiger Woods Nike quick dry golf shirt as I waited for my running late friend to show.

(not her fault really, she does have a toddler)

After a call from the afore mentioned friend warning of greater tardiness, I ordered the chips and Salsa ($3) no need to wax on...they were yummy, just the right heat.

By they way, if you haven't figured out by now bringing a toddler to a bar is "bad" on the good/bad scale. I being a bit vague on laws about minors in bars thought that he could go in, after all I see kids in the liquor store all the time (mostly in Spanaway for some reason) Well here is the deal on those laws, if there is no partition you can't have kids. Luckily we were able to keep him locked in the car with the windows up the whole time. =) Well sort of, he did have the courtesy to fall asleep on the way down and so we let him rest in the car as we watched between indie band posters.

This part here is why they get the coveted 5th start.... upon young child's awakening (halfway through lunch) we tried to find a way to make this work. We asked and were granted permission to take a table outside!

( I should mention for those Liquor Control Board people watching that we were only drinking water, no kidding. )

Enough rambling, onto the food.

I took the advice of another Yelpster and ordered the Picard sandwich and yes it was very very tasty and made with "field loaf". I have to say the words "field loaf" still produce a gag reflex and I am having a hard time coming up with a less appetizing way of describing what was pure tasty goodness. You want me to stop sinking my teeth into the flesh of other beings? Try marketing this stuff better!

I forget what my friend ordered but it too was very tasty.

Hot tip for those with kids, there is a park close enough to pick off a deer with a 22. Okay now I am just messin' with ya. But the park is there, and so while the weather is nice you can get a to-go order and have a picnic letting the kids run free(range).

I think it was a good sign that we hadn't finished reading the menu before we were plotting our next visit.

I hesitate to give this place a 5 only because it might draw more people there.  But honestly, this is a place you have to go to.  It is funky.  Complete with decent local art on the walls, punk rock kids milling about, a dirt parking lot, total dive atmosphere and odd looking startrek ships hanging from the ceiling.  Combine that with perhaps the best tasting vegetarian-only food menu you can find in Seattle, and you have Georgetown Liquor.

Pros: Its a surreal place with tasty food and decent local beer (plus hard drinks).  Prices are cheap, frankly, for the quality.

Cons: Its understaffed.  I felt sorry for the 1 person serving and bar-tending up front.  Val ("Beware of Val") needs help management!  I'd still go back, but please hire more staff if you can.

Food: 4.5 / 5 (Note: I'm a hardcore carnivore, and this place is vegetarian only).  Service: 2 (but only because of poor staffing.  The 1 person who was around was great).  Atmosphere: 5+.  Overall, I can look past the staffing issue.  This place is a repeater.

Oh good lord this place is amazing. Baked polenta topped with ginger apple chutney...ummm...yes, please! Some screaming hot vegan nachos and one Tycho later (which, btw featured the juiciest portobello mushroom I've ever had) my dad was ready to kiss the Chef and offer up his immortal soul in return for one more piece of polenta. I'm pretty sure I'll be driving out from the boondocks of Redmond for the next few weekends just to try everything on the fantastic, sci-fi inspired menu. I mean, come on, how cool is it to order a Picard or an R2 Pita-2? Love it!

Ok... this is probably the coolest place in Georgetown to get a buzz on & have dinner in the same night.... other places near by are pretty much only good for one of those things at a time.
Good selection of booze and veggie friendly food.. The Tycho sandwich is AMAZING. never had a bad time there... well, last time there was a new female bartender that I didnt recognize.. she was wearing a mini skirt & ripped fishnets.. Of course there is nothing wrong with that, but she was sloppily eating a sandwich & had one leg kicked up on a cooler..... the view wasn't pretty...

anyhow, great place

BEST vegan/vegatarian place in Seattle.  My vegan girlfriend loves it and I actually do, too (I am a hardcore carnivore).  If you're new, get the PICARD sandwich.  That's the best, don't question it, just get it for your introduction into field roast sandwiches.  The nachos are great and huge, too.  Of the ten or so times I have been there, I have never been disappointed with all my selections (though I now have settled on the PIcard.  The bar is a an odd collection of old console video games (which you can play for free--they have Nintendo 8 bit, Super NIntentdo and Atari 2600).  There is also plenty of cool, local artwork, wild mixed drinks and dirty, old punk rock chicks hanging at the bar.  It's Georgetown, so go with a sense of humor and a laid back attitude and you will have a blast.  There are vegan options for most everything, but the whole menu is vegatarian.

We've always walked by this place, saying that we'd stop in sometime when we weren't down the street @ Smarty Pants.

And then it finally happened.

GTLC is one of the few places that can play super bad rocker tunes from the 80s while serving vegan/veg food.  And alcohol.  I don't know, I'm into it!

The bartender was very pleasant and the patrons keep to themselves, which is nice.  Nothing like a group of loud fraternity boy types to ruin a nice evening in GT, which thankfully we had none of.  YAY!

We will definitely be coming back here again.  Fo' shooooo'.

may they never go out of business. If I were to open a bar, this would be what I would aim for. Vegetarian menu, with entrees named after scifi characters (Love the Picard).  Old school video game emulators (atari, super nintendo, sega genesis) with a huge library of games.  They have movie nights. I'm not sure if they still have NBC Heroes night, but the show seriously sucks now anyways.  Last time I was there, there was a full-on world of warcraft raid going on.  How cool is that?

i really like GLC a lot. the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the lack of cider selections. the sandwiches are fantastic and leia's tacos are divine - perfectly seasoned & spiced veggie ground and good tortillas. i don't recommend the chef salad - it just tasted bad when i had it, not sure why. the salsa is fresh and mild, but you can always add tapatio to it if you need it. a bit pricey but it's fresh, real food so you get what you pay for.  not typical bar food here!

Fuck me, they know how to make killer vegan sandwiches. Field roast, vege ham, that kitchen wields fantastic magic on ciabatta rolls. Coupled with their cocktail menu and you've got an incredibly delicious meal.

I'll repeat the recommendation for the fake ham (Baron), the Picard, the au jus, and the brie & apricot goodness sandwiches.  Great soups and a solid beer list.  Not too many choices, but the beers they have are diverse and there's something for everyone.  Hoppy, bitter IPA?  yup.  Malty amber?  uh-huh.  Rich porter from down the street's 9lb Hammer?  Indeed.

I watched the Packers lose to the Cowboys tonight, and the bartender was friendly as he matter-of-factly stated that he had bet on the Cowboys.  It can be tough to talk football in Seattle, but we had a good time.

Food prices are okay...food prices everywhere are climbing, and this is no exception.  Dinner for two was $18.50.  Drinks were $4 each--beers and well drinks.  Not bad at all.

Go to the bar if it's slow--place your first order at the bar & they'll pay more attention after they bring your food.

I don't get over to this neck of the woods that often being a North-end dweller, but when I do I'm almost always drawn to the GLC, which is saying something since there's some pretty stiff competition around Georgetown these days.

The main attractions here are casual atmosphere, great service and innovative all-vegetarian menu that even devout meat eaters would have a hard time disliking. Many of the entrees and sandwiches are made to mimic traditional fare and use locally produced Field Roast products as a meat substitute, a refreshing break from the all-Gardenburger-all-the-time veggie option at most bars. There's no fryer here, but the corn chips served with a delicious, chunky homemade salsa are a satisfying side. The beer selection is small but interesting, with a few non-typical local micro-brews. The full bar seems popular with the locals too.

What puts this place over the top for me are the free "classic" console video games that surround the dining area, which are a nice alternative to the cheesy bar games you often see at dives around town.

I met the super friendly owner/bartender once who helped me figure out the free wi-fi, and it turns out he's a former Microsoft geek and avid gamer whose dream it was to open a place like this someday. On a return visit our waitress (Hey! It's Delila from Prost!) was equally helpful and friendly with a wry sense of humor, which is always a cincher for me.

I came here during the day one time and heard this deep rumbling noise and noticed that all the other patrons had left the bar and gone out back. Was this an earthquake I wondered? No!  They were all whooping and toasting the freight train whose tracks are mere feet from the side of the bar! If that isn't great free entertainment I don't know what is.

Being that this bar is in Georgetown (where I grew up) this place already gets cool points in my book. The points accumulate over the fact that its vegetarian, has old school games, has a pinball machine, AND plays movies on Sunday night.

About two weeks ago since I had a rare Monday off of work I sauntered into Georgetown Liquor Company on a Sunday night. As I found a seat "Full Metal Jacket" was playing. I asked for a menu and quickly looked over it impressed with the food fare (sandwiches mostly) but a bit taken aback by the prices. Maybe I'm just a cheap ass but I found $9 for a grilled cheese sandwich and a little salad a bit much. Anyways, the price was soon forgotten when I bit into the cheesy goodness that was my grilled cheese squeezed between two pumpernickel slices. The mixed green salad was satisfying and the homemade dressing was great.

I ate, drank, and watched "Full Metal Jacket". I played some pin ball (not so well) and got comfortable in my seat again when "The Shining" started to play.

Georgetown Liquor Company is great laid back bar. I'd recommend it for anyone or any group of folks.  Even if you are a meat eater you'd enjoy the food.

I am being stalked by a cult. "The vegetarian conspiracy" is trying to convert me to be a member of it's soy bacon worshipping ranks. And I won't do it, not again, no sir.

My lunch at GLC made me seriously consider drinking the kool aid, though. We were amazed at how delicious this food tasted. We gasped in astonishment: "how'd they make that polenta so light and fluffy?" "How did they make that au Jus taste so much like beef?!" Delicious and satisfying. and did I mention cheap, too?

Hey Vegans, just cus you don't eat flesh or flesh derivatives doesn't mean you can't rock out in rugged hipster town!!  You can play some old skool Atari, eat some field loaf, and drink some high quality brews!  Awesome!!

Yeah, I don't really get this place.  I think I'd enjoy throwing down here more if the protein slab in my sandwich was made out of some tasty cow parts rather than ground up mushrooms and lentils.  But they made me homemade ginger ale, which wins them about equal points as if they'd served me up some filet mignon.  Yeah, I got weird ideas about what's cool and tasty.  So does Georgetown Liquor Company.  I respect that.

I wish I lived closer to the GLC, because I'd go more often. My goal is to try one of everything (over the course of multiple visits), but I get stuck on something really good and crave it and as such haven't gotten very far down the menu.

The owner is delightful, and the sandwiches are creative, which is so refreshing. (Can I tell you how bored I am of the Caprese Panini that most places offer as their lone veggie sandwich?) Off the top of my head,  can heartily recommend the Picard sandwich and wonton appetizer.

It's a bit dark in there on sunny days, but I like the ambience and I love the old video games. I wish it opened a bit earlier on the weekends.

Mike, the bartender, is my Hiro.  Yes, Hiro (NERD ALERT!!!).  Came here for the season 2 finale of Heroes and was being endlessly pestered by some creepy drunk guy that wouldn't shut the hell up.  He seemed to clam up when the commercials came on, but as soon as the show came back... endlessly pestering.  Mike's my Hiro because he told the crazy, weird guy that he had two seconds to finish his beer before he got thrown out.  Whoo hoo, Mike!

Other plusses, tasty, tasty vegetarian food... I couldn't really even tell if it was vegetarian food.  It's been a while, don't really remember what I had for dinner that evening, I was too wrapped up in the company I was with and Heroes... it was just incredibly tasty!  Funhouse pinball... old school arcade games... and Atari/NES/Super NES games... Seattletastic beer selection... and Heroes!

What else can a nerdy girl (such as myself) ask for?!  Not much, I say, not much.
